For his final attempt he tried to be a lot more gentle and precise but ended up creating too much drag in the net which allowed the fish to outswim it with easy. Snapping his fingers as a gesture signifying his loss he set the net aside and stood from his crouched position.

Once more acknowledging the girl running the booth he turned his back on it and headed for the Inn. Ready, after a full day of activities, to get some shut eye.

Finally, finally Elliot was given some reprieve from tending to the damn flower booth. Unfortunately, instead of using this time to slack off as he would have liked, the teen's parents had encouraged (more like forced, really) for him to get up and go for a walk. It was a festival, they had told him--he needed to go out! Socialize! Shop! Have fun!

...This was not his idea of fun.

Somehow, Elliot found himself in front of this booth--one that was being run by a girl who looked just as bored as he had in his own. Intrigued, he took a step forward, realizing quickly what the goal of this stall's game was.

Well, why not give it a go? Grabbing one of the scoops, Elliot crouched down to give it a try, exerting...well, no effort at all really in actually seriously trying to catch a fish.

And that definitely showed since his first attempt ended in a failure.

Maybe this was a little tougher than he had thought. Staring at the broken paper scoop with a dull expression, Elliot slowly put it down and then retrieved a brand new one to try again. Whether it'd work or not...well, he was doubtful, to be honest. Still, might as well make an attempt, yeah?

Unfortunately, it was clear that this was just something that Elliot didn't have a gift for. As the goldfish once again evaded his scoop, the peach-haired boy let out a sigh.

Two failures. Clearly he wasn't destined to be a fish scooper.

Taking up the last scoop that he had, Elliot lazily shoved it into the water and made a half-hearted effort at capturing the fish that was swimming closest to him. He was not at all surprised when the small thing managed to tear right through the wet, weakened paper of the scoop, letting out a quiet "oops".

Well, there went that.

Oh well. "Enough of that," He murmured, pushing himself back up onto his feet. Turning to look at the girl manning the booth, he offered her a polite nod of his head before turning to leave. Perhaps he'd come back later to play again, but until then, there were other places to check out.

Alec had agreed to show them both the way to the fishing booth after a few friendly rounds of darts. Walking slowly, as not to loose track of his two companions the younger of the three had a small smile on his face. This had turned out better than he could have hoped for thus far. Even if this particular game was frustrating, he could bare the antics of the nets and gold fish. The bookstore was something he rather liked anyway.

Another day, another chance. It could wait until they all were situated and comfortable inside the store of course. "Here we are~"

With how slowly Alec had walked Farvardin had no chance to wander off. Naturally there were a couple of times where she got distracted but Alec had always been in sight when she realized she wasn't paying attention. She was quite proud of how well she was able to follow him. "Alec. You are a natural at leading people." She said with a smile.

Her comment rewarded the girl with a bashful chuckle. "Im just use to this side of town." Really it was nothing, it just seemed like the right thing to do since they didn't know their way around the district. He could have done things with a more expeditious flare, and gone quickly but then he risked loosing them. "Thanks.." He mumbled to the older girl, giving her a light nudge with his shoulder when she was near him. "If you didn't get so lost I wouldn't have to walk so slow you know" He teased, grinning. Maybe he was, he had no history of leading people yet he took her word for it.

Following behind the two he allowed for his eyes to wander as he took in the scene. People were everywhere, laughing and enjoying themselves. And why shouldn't they? Something told him a festival such as this one was not a very common occurrence in this district. By the looks of some of the domiciles they were walking past, money didn't seem to be a very common thing either. Hearing the voices of his companions he directed his attention toward them, reminding himself that money shouldn't be on his mind at the moment.

"Well thankfully you are here to prevent either of us from becoming terribly lost." He added with a smile.

Farvardin tilted her head for a moment. "Used to this side of town? Oh yeah! Didn't you say that your parents have a supply store or something like that? Is that why you're so used to this side of town?" She asked. She grinned at the nudge and feigned dismay at his teasing. "Hey I can't help that! There's so much going on and I'm new here." She replied before sighing, "Okay I'll admit. I'm horribly directionally challenged and get lost wherever I go."

Hearing Nik speak up she turned to him. "Yeah. He was great at that. He should be a guide or something." She said giving Alec a teasing glance. She then turned to the booth. "So Alec how does one play this game?"

Pointing at the sign beside the shop keeper. "Essentially like the board says, you grab a net, and try and see if you can gently lift up the fish. The odds are against you, cuz uh..they are papper right?" He looked at Lenore questioningly. "At least thats what I'm assuming." Nodding to Nik when he joined them. He greeted him with a friendly look, and a sort of hum in response. "Nope, I won't let you get lost no worries." He smiled at both of them.

"Besides that you just simply fist, and see what happens here let me show you." Alec offered both of them. He was having a good time, the two had earned a few laughs and smiles from the short teen, glad for the company. It passed the time by. While he'd been overwhelmed at first the light hearted nature of the festival had brought him out of his shell some.

Stepping up, he gingerly grabbed a net. "One kid the other day said to look for slow ones..honestly I've had some pretty epic fails." He kept trying because it was fun. "You've got 3 tries each, once a day." He dipped his net in giving it a shot.

"See, don't take advice from me!" He laughed at his misfortune as the fish swam away ignoring his would be fisherman's efforts, especially since she'd teased him about being a guide. "Come one, you two try." He encouraged gesturing to the nets.

Lenore snorted, but didn't lift her gaze from her book. "'The odds are against you'? That's a pretty way of saying it's a scam." Flipping a page, she finally looked up; she must have been pretty close to the end of it. "Don't get me wrong, it totally is. But yeah, it's paper. I'm surprised three have been caught at all."

Alec gave Lenore a strange almost comical look as she admitted the scam-like nature of the event. He'd been certain it was somewhat rigged her confirmation had him shake his head. "I didn't want to be rude, but I had a feeling that it was uh meant to be..challenging." The red head pouted at the girl and her book, fussing her with a small impatient sound. Stretching the word challenging, clearly aware it was mostly a coax. The 3 winners clearly knew the secrets of an otherwise hidden, terribly awful art. Alec followed up his grumpiness at the girl with a small laugh, smiling.

"It's alright, even if we can't keep the fish, they are kinda neat to look at." He stared at one particular fish among the rest, reaching for a new net debating how best to approach the fish. Instead of paying him any mind, the slippery fellow darted off. In his rush to get the small creature he splashed a bit of water soaking the faux net.

Lenore shrugged. "People say I'm rude all the time. It doesn't bother me." She paused. "Oh, and you can keep the fish, if you catch them. Just gets me out of here sooner. I already let the other winners keep them, so whatever."

At her comment of her being rude, he tilted his head at her. Hadn't she at least acknowledged him, and also said good bye each time he left her booth? Lenore didn't seem that rude to him.. With her assertion that he could keep the fish should he win, Alec did believe that certainly was more incentive to keep trying.

"It might get eaten by one of our cats..but alright cool!" He perked up a bit. With his tries dwindling for the day he gave another go a try watching the water and fish seriously. Yet another bust, he lifted the net giving it a little shake to try and air dry it before he'd try one last time for today.

Not understanding why he was tilting her head at her, she tilted hers back and blinked.

At the man's comment about the cats, Lenore said nothing, not caring what happened to the fish.
