Buddingtonite's speech may as well have fallen on deaf ears for all the attention Ganymede paid his mocking accusations.

“Oh, honey, save your preaching for somebody who gives a damn,” she sneered, an ugly look on an otherwise pretty face.

It was a relatively simple decision, really. Buddingtonite or the corpse? The choice to aim for Buddingtonite was the obvious one—the only real choice to make. If he was willing to have Ganymede direct her magic toward the girl, she thought, it either meant the girl really was dead, Buddingtonite didn't care what happened to her, or he was bluffing as much as Ganymede was herself. If the first was true it'd be a waste of an attack—which would suit Buddingtonite and the rest of the officers just fine, she knew, seeing as if was the only useful magic she had—and if the latter two were true this whole charade would come falling down around them as soon as the girl screamed.

Lyceum's horrified objections did nothing to cause her determination to waver. Ganymede waved off the page's remarks, her head shaking in a quick jerk of denial.

Inevitably, it was Lyceum's announcement that made the final call. If the girl was alive and the starseed Buddingtonite had thrown really was hers, it was a simple matter of reuniting her with it. Best not to let perfectly good magic go to waste.

Ganymede smirked at the General and wiggled her fingers threateningly. “Looks like your little fan's made the decision for me,” she said.

She kept her eyes locked on Buddingtonite, and with Valhalla's blessing she shouted toward Lyceum and the knight, “Take the girl and go! Take her to the cat or find the damned starseed, just don't stand there and make yourselves targets!”

Then it was Buddingtonite's turn to feel pain.

“Searing Passion!”

The enemy is overcome by a inexplicable sense of desire that manifests itself physically in a heating of the body that grows progressively stronger, until the target feels as if they're burning up from the inside. The attack reaches its peak after 45 seconds. Sorry, Buddy! Sunny loves you! <33

Okay, so the situation had had dramatically changed. The entire rooftop was now on fire, and that strange-feeling Eternal Senshi (Ganymede) was now in front of Buddingtonite, and she had used some sort of magic on him (hopefully one that was offensively-geared). Megrez had two choices: get the hell out, or help this girl at least a little. She made the latter choice. If Ganymede could handle the heat, so could she (never mind the numerous logical flaws in this statement). Besides, burn scars would be nothing new to her.

"Let's do this together!" Megrez said, cupping her hand and producing another egg. She whipped it at Buddingtonite, not sure if she'd be lucky enough to get the face again. She'd be satisfied with any hit, however. Whether or not she'd move in for a more physical attack would depend on the effects of Ganymede's magic.

Athene nodded at Shangri-La as the Squire explained his magic in turn. Although he mainly tended to use his magic in conjunction with either Ida or Tsui as support to their more offensive magic, it sounded like his magic had the potential to work quite well with Shangri-La's magic.

"I also have my eternal senshi ability too if it comes to it" he added quietly "It's reliable unlike my other senshi magic but I'd rather sit on it as a last resort." The beads in his eternal attack acted as a shield rather than as a trap, but reliability came at the cost of the magic being much more tiring on him.

He frowned slightly as Shangri-La voiced his concern, come think on it there did appear to be more of them than the gathered Negaverse members. "You're right" he said after a brief pause speaking his thoughts aloud. "In the past there's been reinforcements with youma at least if nothing else, like when they attacked all those people at the Carnival and the DestinyCon convention last year and those are both smaller than a city-wide power cut." He bit his lip for a moment before admitting "And maybe something about this isn't right, but those definitely feel like civilians that they've got and that General's already killed one." And I don't want to wait and see if they kill any more.

Lt. Kyanite was on a mission tonight.

YAY!

Okay, so maybe that wasn't the appropriate reaction, but she always, always, always preferred working alongside a large group of Negas than being by herself. Granted, they even patrolled in groups, but those groups were much smaller, much easier to get separated.

Her assignment tonight seemed easy enough too: just be a guard! A guard? She could do that. Her job was to get involved if things with south, to watch out for the plain-clothes officers. She liked feeling that maternal protectiveness. It had her clenching her electrical cord extra hard. If only it were a real weapon.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before things went south, and when they did, it happened fast. Kyanite grunted and sprang into action -- unfortunately, she took a blow to the back of the head and only woke up when she sensed the fiery doom of fire creeping nearby. It was not a glamorous showing.

Staggering to her feet, the dark-skinned girl swiveled her head from side to side, disoriented and unsure where to go first.

ALL
Sorry, it was easily to make Kyanite be a DERP than backwrite what she was doing during the scuffle. If anyone wants to engage a not very good Nega lieutenant, she is available!

------------------

Ever since doing the boot camp with the other senshi, Sailor Auriga had felt a renewed sense of purpose. She was a crimefighter, goddamnit! When the power went out, she felt confused and a little scared. Hopping out of the cafe where she had been grabbing a late night meal, the teenager decided to henshin up for safe travels home.

The second she did, she felt a huge gathering of energy.

Curiosity was basically her middle name.

So for that reason, the largely unseasoned senshi sprang onto the battle scene in full swing, swallowed deep, and announced, "Sailor Auriga, reporting?" It was maybe one of the moments in her life she had felt the most stupid.

Should she just... jump in?

Bright eyes began to quiver, immediately doubting herself, but she felt for the senshi skirts in front of her. If she was fighting alongside stronger people, surely nothing could go wrong. It didn't even occur to her she had made a mistake already: she was standing on the sidelines of a battle, as if waiting for someone to smack the reality into her face.

Within moments of sending out the call that assistance was available, a young officer was hobbling over his way. Even from afar, he could tell her ankle was badly sprained, if not broken, though he'd be able to tell that upon closer inspection. Jogging towards her the rest of the way, he ushered her to sit down, immediately taking in the information she was giving him and checking her over.

Touching the ribs slightly, he frowned at the tenderness there, already feeling the swelling of bruised tissue under her clothes. She was right. Under these circumstances, he couldn't do much, though he'd have preferred being able to put a compression bandage there to support her torso better. With a small shake of his head, he'd have to save that for later if she sought him out again, and moved onto the ankle. THAT injury was a little more tricky. It was clearly sprained, but the fact she'd been able to walk and not writhe in pain told him it was merely a sprain. He'd made the argument many times in class that fractures in the hands and feet were often most painful and most complicated to reset properly so it was a relief he didn't have to deal with that out in the field.

"Just a sprain. That's good. Let me compress and stint it, and you should be alright if you stay off of it the next two weeks as much as possible, here's a painkiller, now let me just...."
he assured her, switching instantly into 'doctor' mode, becoming much more confident and authoritative. He was comfortable, even in the midst of all this chaos, in this medium. He knew he could do his job, and his hands darted quickly into his well stocked medkit, and moved swiftly to do their job after handing her the painkiller. He also handed her a small, pint-sized bottled water, thanking himself for the foresight to go to the store and get a large package of them for when he did what he'd been told were 'rounds' and 'patrols'. To him, it was just another day at the hospital, checking on the status of things, so why not be prepared.

Using a foam brace and a tongue depressor, he wrapped the compression gauze tightly, latching it closed together with a metal clip, the teeth digging into the gauze and assuring it would go nowhere as he made an experimental tug. Looking up with a reassuring if not slightly clinical and aloof smile, he patted her knee.

"You're good to go cause chaos and mayhem, mon ami. Try to hang back and let the others do the heavy work, your main priority is getting off the roof now, alright? There was a fire escape to back corner behind me, it's sloped so just take it at a moderate pace and you'll be fine," he advised, nodding his head and moving on, leaving Empressite to her own devices. He'd have liked being able to more personally attend to patients, but out here on the field, it didn't look like he was going to have the luxury of doing so.

Just then, he heard a commotion near the florally inclined General, watching warily as he stood some senshi down.....that was until he got closer and heard one of them state the civillian on the ground was alive. Alive? Auburn eyebrows raised, and he mentally recited the Hippocratic Oath to steady himself as he processed the information. Not having been aware of the fake-hostage plan, he smirked. A Red Herring then? It wasn't a bad plan, to be sure, just not thought out well in the event that someone would call their bluff.

Attempting to either get THEIR agent out of there safely, or to at the very least cover for the General, he came in, hands up and clearly unarmed, slowly walking towards the one that was inspecting the girl.

"Please! No harm, no foul, between our opposing sides, mademoiselle. I'm a doctor, see? I only want to confirm or lay to rest your suspicions, and if so, give them the treatment they need," he assured the senshi, motioning to the rather obvious medkit on his belt, looking to his commanding officer apologetically, hoping the man would catch onto his ruse and understand he was trying to help whatever plan was going on here. "Sir, reprimand me all you like later, but I cannot under good faith, leave even a senshi to die in flames like a forgotten animal if she's still alive. My duty as a doctor comes before my duty to the Negaverse."

With that, he tried to ease the senshi away from the other, supposed, officer. It was a gamble to continue this ruse, if it was in fact a ruse like he supposed, but then again Olivander had never been able to say no to a game of chance and as Lt. Tsavolite? Well, that just meant the stakes were higher in his powered form. He had to rely on his intelligence for this one.

"Come on now, if she's alive you have to let me treat her,but I HAVE to make sure first. You might be in shock if you've never seen anyone die before,"
he whispered, inclining his head slightly so he appeared as nonthreatening as possible. He knew without a doubt, could SEE the girl was alive, but it was imperative he got the senshi to doubt her own judgement, or their own operative could be in immediate danger.

The Dark Mirror senshi's (Canopus) vehemence towards the Negaverse was hardly surprising to Falias, since he felt he had a good idea of where the roots lay. It made her willingness to work with him feel even more like kind of a kicker given his own part in said whole ambush.

"Well thank you" he said at last awkwardly. "I'm going to try to rescue the remaining hostages." He didn't particularly want to leave the remaining civilians to the 'tender' mercy of the Negaverse members, especially given that one civilian was already dead on account of said tender mercy. "I'm not very big on the magic department though." At least he didn't think he was given that even if he really did have magic now, Falias was still in the position of having no idea on what it actually did - after all the burning warehouse floor wasn't really the place to try and see if he'd somehow picked up magic along with the wand that had taken the place of his mistletoe sprig.

He frowned at the Dark Mirror's senshi's comment about the lack of back up and the fact that not a single Nega-Officer appeared to have called for any back up, even though it was pretty clear that they were outnumbered, but before he could respond he realised that the roof of the department store had caught fire his mind turned back to the hostages. "We need to get those hostages out of here." He would have to ponder the curious lack of any requests for back up for the Nega-officers later - for now the sooner that they got the hostages out of here then the better.

Kallichore knew the hostages would be in better hands than her own. Ganymede, Valhalla and Lyceum had things covered as far as she could tell. She was actually quite impressed with how Ganymede was handling herself - Kallichore had pegged the Lust Senshi for trying to reason with the Negaverse rather than give them sass and fire off an attack. Color her impressed.

With so much going on, the eternal hung back to get a grip on the situation before deciding to follow General Serpentine to the ground. ...but not exactly.

While he was surrounded by three others, Kallichore used her higher vantage point as a means to an end. Dodging fists and flying weaponry, the eternal senshi leaped over the side of the building, reading her attack before she hit the ground. The air about her hands distorted and, when within ten or so feet of Serpentine's form, let loose. "Surge of the Maddened!"

Kallichore landed and tumbled off to the side, whirling around to scan the area for additional Chaos tag-alongs. With a General surrounded by so many people not under his command, the eternal senshi figured he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

(Anyone is free to target her, just quote me and let me know what's going on. XD )

Serpentine glowered down at the paper-throwing Senshi (Mintaka) as she feebly put up her hands. Weak. Pathetic. All the better to take out now, before she potentially became a threat later. She did not want to fight? Then she should not have thrown herself in the midst of not one, but two Generals. She should have stayed home, in bed, and not given in to the impulse to put on that costume and defy them. He had no room in his heart to harbor fools long before the kiss of Chaos. But the unmanageable hatred fell back into the normal, panging hunger he always carried, and he willingly left her to turn and check on Buddingtonite. There would be time to kill her later.

Then that little b***h (Lyceum) had to speak up. To let it be known that Jade was alive despite Buddingtonite’s well-executed stunt. The instant Serpentine looked at his partner’s face, he knew. In the same way he knew when a plant needed water even before its leaves wilted or a rose bush needed heading, he knew. It was time to get him out of there… or the consequences would be dire. Before he could make a step towards his partner and the girl in his arms, a mouthy eternal (Europa) intercepted him. No… why did she have to get in his way NOW?!

He arched his whip over his current opponent’s head to crack the egg launched from some enemy (Megrez) before it could hit his partner. One insult was enough - a second he would not tolerate. The cry of Ganymede already indicated he had failed to protect his partner yet again. It was no hard choice whether to spend his action this way, although yes, it could have been used to help give the plainclothes officer time to flee. She had proven unworthy of the time and attention given her if she couldn’t follow the simplest of commands such as play dead. Buddingtonite was worth fifty of her. Besides, it seemed the little medic (Tsalovite) was working his charms.

Serpentine had a more direct strategy. Crush them all, one at a time, until any officer that needed freeing was free. Every Captain, every Lieutenant, every Corrupt Senshi would need to fight together now because he could not descend as an avenging angel for them all. Buddingtonite was the only one in his sights now.

All the plan required was a distraction. They had always planned to fall - not in loss, but back to the next stage of the operation. Now, with their forces fenced into their small areas, with their ‘hostages’ true identities potentially exposed… the best way to remain a distraction was to fight - and of the two, Serpentine had always been the more eager brawler. Buddingtonite did not have to be the one to endure the gauntlet any longer. Not this time. Serpentine would bear the yoke for them both until it crushed him onto shattering knees. If it was able.

His decision made, he pulled the one trick that anyone who knew the vain General would never have expected. He put his face, his most prized feature, in danger by moving to headbutt his current opponent. It was a calculated risk. His whip required distance, not close quarters, and a bruise on his forehead could be more easily covered with makeup than a broken nose or jaw, which keeping his head still might have earned him. Additionally, the more fury he directed towards himself, the more likely his partner would escape without further injury. Their troops needed at least one figure free to direct them through the battle and, ultimately, to safety - and Buddingtonite had always been better with people than him.

Were his hands free, Serpentine would have given the command to retreat. But one was trapped between the Eternal and himself, and the other was dangling a whip uselessly as he had space to crack it again. The orders he had given them up until now would have to suffice until the magic left Buddingtonite. For now, he grappled with the enemy before him. ’I will avenge you… all of you...’

So overwrought was he that he did not see or hear the screaming Senshi (Kallichore) until the magic struck him squarely. Voices began to whisper in his ears, those of mis mother, his father... of Richard, of Darran. Saying that he had failed. He shook his head, his hat flying off and rainbow locks, drenched with sweat, sticking to his face. And he screamed.

The voices had been bad enough. Then his mother's face appeared, dancing with the flames, pallid as it had been on her death bed as she whispered, 'Ashamed...' A blood-soaked Richard joined her, his candy-apple eyes leaking blood and smoke as he... smiled. Smiled that fake, meaningless smile. He stretched out his hands to them both, unsure which hurt him more. The flame licked his fingers, caught the bandages on his hand on fire... but he did not care. It never occurred to him that this nightmare fuel, sprung out of his subconcious, was magic fueled. He had to make those faces leave.

Empressite winced as Tsavolite checked her injuries. They hurt like hell, even though he was as careful as he could be and still try to see how bad the injuries were, but she was strong enough to handle a little pain and still hang around. Her usefulness hadn't been completely destroyed with the beating she took. And she would stay until the order to withdraw was given. She was able to put up with the ankle splinting- after all she had only just recently recovered from similar injuries...

She nearly lashed out with angry words at the condescension he showed by patting her knee – like some child or a pet – but choked the words back. He was an ally, and now was not the time to argue such petty details. She watched as the flames grew stronger, higher, and recognised the fact it was time to get to somewhere safer.

'Thank you.'

She sighed. The idea of hobbling down the rickety fire escape wasn't a pleasant one, and she didn't know if it would remain safe for long enough for her to reach safety. Then she looked to see how far it was to the nearest side of the roof. It wasn't that she was particularly eager to undo any of the good he had done but, if it came down to her life and possibly compounding the injury and being hurt worse, she would accept the consequences of her decisions. And with the way things were going... the least she could do was to make sure she didn't land on the splinted ankle or her side.

She sighed. This was not what she had signed up for by being a part of this operation.

Luckily, or perhaps not so much, the edge of the rooftop was closer than the fire escape and it seemed that there were bags of trash that had not yet been collected by the sanitation department, so there would be something there to break her fall... even if it meant landing in garbage... she would take her chances there, and make her way as swiftly as she was able to the next staging point. Though hopefully not too early or late.

The smoke and flames increased. It was now or never. She took a deep breath before plummeting off the roof to land somewhat safely in the garbage below.

Well, she'd managed to throw the general off long enough to save the page - that was really all Europa was aiming for. But now that she'd done that, she wanted to stall him long enough for her side to get away - whatever the hell the point of this whole situation had been. She still wasn't sure, with regards to whether the hostages were really senshi or not - and it looked like other people with a better grasp of the situation were dealing with this, since she was focusing her attention on Serpentine.

The general already looked to be reeling, under attack from multiple points, but Europa was eager to add to the situation. Anyone involved in this entire cruel setup deserved to suffer for what they'd done - and Gunn was going to have Europa's head if she didn't get her a** in gear.

But she'd done a number on her ankle, and if this carried on to a second location, well, she just didn't think she'd be able to follow.

Pointing towards the general before her, Europa hollered, "Deep Ocean Terror!" and gave him a shove.

Everyone in the vicinity of Serpentine
Europa Deep Ocean Terror
Sailor Europa singles out a target or group of closely-spaced targets, with no more than two feet of space between each link in the chain, by pointing, and calls the name of this attack. The target is seized by an extreme sense of dread, accompanied by hallucinations of darkness and deep-sea monsters at the corners of their field of vision. The attack's effects last for a minute, and may leave targets feeling shaken, anxious, distracted, and nauseous, especially if they are not strong-willed enough to realize it is all in their head.

Schörl snarled all the more when MORE steam came their way from a flank- but the offending senshi ducked away in a quick hit-and-run. Considering their lack of physical weapons, guerrilla tactics were a wise choice that the captain couldn't fault any of them for. And they just had to weather it.

Galena crouching and screaming was great for acting, but no good for viability of getting them both out of the way of the eternal's attack- note whirled around as the captain held her ground, lifting arm in guard and turning face down in following Galena's crouch. With her mouth not visible, Schörl toned a growl down to her plain clothes charge that had 'escaped' her grip, "Punch me, run, Youma helps. "

Hopefully she gets it. Keeping her identity as a civilian is paramount right now, as well as keeping these scouts here. It will cost me a lot to summon up Barbary, but he can 'chase' her and help her get away without the sailors cornering her. My heart-

She could feel her pulse dropping, the world starting to drag in a way inimical and unlike her usual Flow meditations. Instead of thought getting faster, clearer, everything was getting difficult to keep a hold of. Barbary. remember Barbary. Vulnerable.

Thraen hadn't expected to hear a voice anywhere near him, let alone one toned specifically to him as he'd started into the dark. He shifted weight to stop on his heel and pivot to give the source fuller attention- a rather fluffy eternal senshi.

He remembered seeing her on the stage at the Destiny City Convention, even if they'd never formally met. "The whole city is blacked out. This isn't a power plant. This is a symptom, not the heart of the disease. "

"There are plenty of Eternal senshi, super, regular, knights, pages and squires to handle the two generals and hand-counts of lieutenants."

"The power grid. This is a decoy. A couple hostages or the whole city?" The eternal of garden's shifted his weight, pacing few steps as he explained. Time is limited. "Stay if you like. Come if you like."

Fire licked across the roof, and Kyanite could barely see her allies. She watched a few like her -- Chaos energies -- bail out of the rooftop to take the fight to the street below. It wasn't her favorite idea in the world, but her subpar fighting skills would only be worsened by the current state of the building. Sprinting to the edge, she let the breeze pull at the folds of her coat, slapping it against her thighs. Flames reached for her boots, making her even more uncomfortably hot.

The blur of another Nega caught her attention (Empressite) -- as she disappeared over the edge of the building. Swallowing, Kyanite called after her. "Wait up!" she said, hoping to at least have some degree of a team. Purple eyes watched as the other girl fell into trash. Hopefully it would go just as well for her.

With a gulp of air, Kyanite let herself fly, falling into the trash. Lucky for her, it appeared to be filled with mostly food bits -- smelly, sure, but nothing sharp. Sitting up, the dark-haired girl glanced to the other. "Hey, I'm Kyanite," she said quickly. "I thought two would have better odds making a dent in them than one. You good to go back in there?" she asked.

One hand reached for the back of her head, checking for blood. None, thankfully. She could only hope her absence from the start of the fight had not been too noticeable. Hopefully, with Empressite, they could improve their odds.

There. Got a clear space. Gunn took one breath, two, of the smoking air on top of the roof, and then jumped, arcing high over the flames. Her landing on the edge of the building was precarious and undignified, but she stuck it, and then dropped neatly down to the streets below, near a senshi in muck-green fuku (Auriga). She wanted to say, hey girl I'll back you up, but this was pretty clearly a distraction, and Gunn had no time for that. Especially not once she heard that the hostage the starseed--the cold, dead starseed--had come from was still alive.

"You want to do something useful," she said to Auriga. "See that a*****e Corrupted over there?" She helpfully pointed out Kerberos. "See if you can take him out. He's already used his spell once and he's tiny. You can take him. When he's gone, follow me."

That was when she waded into the battle and, without so much as a by-your-leave, grabbed the obviously-limping Europa. "Hey, Ganymede," she called, "That woman's not a senshi." I'll explain later, she thought, and then she ******** ollied the s**t out of there.

Acubens took a deep breath, ribs protesting violently at the action. All around them she could hear the sounds of fighting, of people struggling. Her nerves tugged at her, telling her that Andronicus was right and that they needed to get involved and save someone. Anyone. And maybe it was because the last time there was a hostage Bischofite had sicked a youma on her and the other senshi on top of a roof but she couldn't bring herself to jump to their aid despite her instincts to. Hell, maybe it was everything Bischofite had done that was causing her pause.

He was turning her into a hunter.

She shook her head and the thought from it as soon as it showed up. No, Bischofite wasn't doing anything but acting like the monster he was.

Acubens absently rubbed her ribs again and moved closer to Andronicus, suddenly feeling very cold.

"Maybe instead of fighting," she muttered, watching the building slowly fall in on itself to be consumed by flames, "we should take our leaves. Neither of us are really well enough for this." She took another step back, nudging Andronicus to follow. "I know you want to save people, but we're no good to anyone dead. And I think with three arms and two good lungs between the two of us, that's where we'll end up."
