Arias seemed infinitely pleased with the people he was meeting, and while he very much would have enjoyed talking more, when Kaatje announced the next task, he figured they would have to meet up again to continue the conversation later. He just smiled and said to Finn, "Thanks for the advice, I'd love to hit you up sometime and talk more about all of this. If you don’t mind!"
He then glanced to Delilah and Kinley, and wished the group good luck for the next task before he trotted off to give it a go.
Not that it was a particularly good go; he certainly wasn't performing up to his own expectations. He was exceptionally distracted while he attempted to complete the task—and how could he not be? There were knights—more than just Earth? And there were people that he could team up with—patrol with. People who had experience in other things, and knew things.
It probably didn't help that he'd used a good chunk of energy running and his body was protesting; he'd become too complacent now that he was out of school. If anything, this was all a good reminder that maybe he should get back in the game and exercise a little more because right now?
Kinley had just opened her mouth to answer Delilah and tell her about her first and only run in with a youma, but then Kaatje started firing off the instructions for the next task. She smiled apologetically at Finn and Delilah before getting to her feet. "I guess we'll finish storytelling later?" She asked before looking over at the wall they had to climb. In her powered form, she knew it wouldn't be an issue. What exactly was the point of training in their non powered forms? She wondered for a minute before figuring out exactly how she was going to get her barely 5 foot self over that wall.
She took the milk crate and set it back a bit from the wall. Then she backed up and took a running start, spring boarding off of the milk crate and reaching for the top of the wall. It worked. All those years of dance had really helped teach her how to get into the air. The milk crate clattered behind her; she'd kicked it backwards as she pushed off of it. But her hands were secure on the top of the wall. Her feet were scrambling to find a hold.
"Hey, Arias! Help a girl out?" She was secure and balanced, but she had nowhere to go without losing her grip. "If I can get up, I'll totally give you a hand up." The offer was sincere. Kinley really thought if she could just get to the top of the wall and perch there, she could offer Arias a hand up. Then they'd both be up and be done with the boot camp for today.
Bo (Teamwork) is going to take more than two tries!
Oblivious to the rest of the world, Bo had continued running long after everyone else had stopped. He even missed the beginning of Kaatje's speech, but ambled over in enough time to get the gist of it: see wall? Climb wall.
"Let's do this!" Bo shouted.
He took off at a run toward the wall and leapt up, managing to hook his fingers over the edge (thanks, super tallness and basketball). Surprisingly, he even held his grip for awhile! But that was where it ended. Bo hung like a wall tapestry for a good 20 seconds before finally releasing and stumbling back to the wall. "I get the grabbing the top part," he said, "just not the get over it." He shrugged. "Well, try, try, try again!"
Bo took to repeating this dance: run, jump, hang, release. He did this 5 times before finally taking a cue from others. Borrowing the milk crate, he stood on top of it, awkwardly hooked his leg over the top, said, "I feel like a starfish!", and then managed to summon enough upper body strength to actually get to the top.
Once up there, he dangled his legs over the edge and gazed down at the others. "The world looks so small from up here," he said, lowering his voice dramatically. Then Bo stretched his arms outward, as if offering hugs, and announced, "WHO NEEDS A HAND? Or two." Smiles all around (from Bo).

Maggie (Constitution) is going to take more than two tries!
Her partner, Paris, seemed to know a lot more of the gathered crowd than she did. Were there some senshi parties that she was missing out on? A pout sprouted on her lips involuntarily. Maggie did not like to be left out, especially from cool parties.
Brushing off her paranoia, the teenager casually trailed over to the wall, watching at the girl that Paris had called Rhiannon worked to scale it. "That looks... rough," Maggie mused. After the run, Maggie was feeling more than a little over this whole boot camp thing. Her legs were tingly, and she had bright red splotches on her cheeks and chest. And now... a wall? Yikes.
Rhiannon took a couple tries, but made relatively short work of the task. Maggie was not feeling as enthusiastic. But then -- to her joy -- the other girl offered to help her out. Maybe she would end up invited to those imagined senshi parties after this?
"Help would be AMAZING," she said quickly. "Otherwise, I'm pretty sure this is how I die. Probably."
She smiled, but stayed to the side, waiting for Paris to go first. After all, Rhiannon seemed to be her friend!
After water she turned to Kaatje who called the to do a bit of climbing. She shrugged heading over the structure. Lily looked at the wall, eight feet high, which wasn't too bad. She'd seen cheerleading pyramids about that high or more maybe. She looked to Sirsce and back to the wall. "I think working together is the best option."
She wasn't sure which of them was lighter but she guess it didn't matter in the end. "Do you think you could give me a leg up? If you can I think I can just get on top of the wall. Then once I'm up there I can help pull you up. I don't know but I think that might be the easiest way. That and I don't fancy falling off bucket, and milk crates. The timber might be helpful maybe. What do you think?"
She looked to the wall again, she really did think they could do this simply and be done with it. Maybe when they were done, Sirsce would want to like get an ice cream or something. So counterproductive, but they were senshi, which often meant crazy high metabolism, or so it seemed to her.
Fai grimaced as she put her hand on the wall, surprised though at her partner's words. So she did speak! A thoughtful lady then! Fai would fantasize that Rhiannon was the type that didn't have much to say because actions spoke louder then words and well...That's excatly what the other girl was doing. She squeezed the hand that took hers before letting go to watch the girl and her magic at work.
She watched her retrieve a bucket, formulating a plot in her head. It was surprising how the aid of an item had the girl soaring up on to the wall in a manner of mere moments.
She clapped her hands as Rhiannon got to the top, "Yeah! Good job team mate!" before blinking as the girl jumped down and offered her a boost. "Well..." She looked almost nervous. One part was she didn't want to hurt the girl, and the other part was what if she failed? It would be embarassing when her teammate was cheering her on.
"Okay..." She breathed in, "A true lady never turns down a challenge right?" It was a rhetorical question but...She put her foot in Rhiannon's clasped hands, using the boost up and scrambling her way to the top of the wall. She was pretty sure at one point she was gonna fall but -
"Come onnnnnnnnn...." She gritted her teeth, pulling her form up until she was laying sideways on the top. "I...I did it!" She looked back down at Rhiannon with wonder before dropping down. "Thank you so much for your help! I don't think I could've done it by myself!"
"Sure, sure! Just give me your number or your e-mail or something, and I'll think of something for us to do." Then the announcement of the final challenge came. "Another one? I probably shouldn't complain, but it looked like we were done for a moment there." Luca watched Orah give her try at getting over the wall, then nodded at her suggestion. "Sounds like a plan! You boost me, and I'll see if I can help pull you up when I'm on top."
Luca did try to pull herself up, but it... didn't go so well. She simply couldn't reach the top. And with the minimal status of the toeholds, she couldn't just monkey-climb up there. "Yup, I'm gonna need that boost."
Arias did not need to consider Kinley's request for long; he was not having much success himself, but she was already half there. It didn't cross his mind at all that her offer might have been insincere, so he nodded. "Yeah, one second," he said before trotting over. "You're doing much better than I was!" he laughed, though didn't want to leave her hanging there for too long. "Here, just hold on," he said moving to kneel just a bit near the girl. He laced his fingers together tightly and put his hands under her heel to try and give her something to push off of. When he was certain he was able to provide a good, solid platform with his hands, he made sure he was balanced enough to support her on the way up.
"Tell me when you're ready," he said, prepared to give her a boost up as soon as she gave the word.
Initially she refused the help, seeing as she was rather miffed at Rhiannon for being there in the first place. Unless Rhiannon had somehow stumbled across this little get together at random (unlikely, since Paris didn't imagine her cousin had any more reason to venture toward the soccer field than she did) her presence could only mean one thing.
Well, two things. Knight, or Senshi. Neither option seemed pleasing to Paris. Their relationship these days was awkward at best, but enough of her family was already involved without adding another one on top of it.
Though she attempted to climb the wall on her own a few times, Paris's efforts were met with failure. She was left with no other choice but to accept assistance, and since Rhiannon had been ever so kind enough to offer, Paris figured she may as well accept the boost rather than continue to make a fool of herself. She turned to her cousin with a displeased frown and prepared herself for the boost up.
“Just tell me my mom doesn't know about any of this and we don't have to talk about it again,” she said.
Accepting Rhiannon's help did the trick, and Paris soon found herself gripping to the top of the wall. She may not have the upper body strength required to pull herself up and over, but her legs could certainly work. She climbed up in a manner that clearly emulated Rhiannon's previous attempts, and got one of her legs over the side to straddle the top. She did not immediately jump down from her perch, but looked back down toward her teammate and reached out a hand.
“Come on. Rhiannon'll give you a boost and you can grab onto my hand if you need a little more help. It's not so bad,” she said encouragingly.
Jeanne eyeballed the obstacle and frowned, placing her hands on her hips as she considered the best route to take. It would be a pretty physical challenge, but the redhead was fairly sure she could manage it.
Even if the obstacle was almost three feet taller than her, and she had to worry about getting her hair caught up in it or something. Oh well - at least Tallulah was already up there.
"A hand would be great!" She acknowledged, and as advised, she made use of the milk crates to give her a boost so she could get to Tallulah. With help, she was up and over.
"Well, that ain't so bad, 'specially not with help." Which she supposed was the lesson in a lot of what she'd been through lately.
Assisting Lily's ascent seemed easy enough, even if the weight atop her shoulders was difficult to endure. However, she offered some solid suggestions on how to surmount the wall herself, and Sirsce's eyes instantly lit upon the milk crate and wooden boards offered as potential assistance. "I think I've got an idea," she offered to her friend, shortly before attempting to piece together a makeshift tower.
First came the crate, balanced steadily some distance away from the wall. Atop it came a bucket, turned upside-down to offer better standing, and finally she climbed atop the two to manage a better attempt at the obstacle before her. Luckily she managed to jump toward the zenith of the wall at a decent enough height to catch grip of the top, and with what few footholds were offered (along with the help of her teammate), successfully pulled herself over the edge. "Whew!" She managed at last, wiping the back of her hand across her brow.
"Thanks so much for your help. I'm glad I got to work with you again... Maia." Sirsce offered a smile, though still exhausted from the day's activities. Her eyelids drooped lightly, and she was thankful for it. How long had it been now since she had a decent night of sleep?
Overall the events left her feeling mentally refreshed, even if the day's work rested heavily in her muscles. She knew the walk home might hurt, but it was a pain that reminded her that she could still succeed, even if that success lay in running miles or doing push-ups. It was a start, at least.
And she could live with that.

close for me!
"Paimon almighty, does that broad really expect us to get over that thing?" Hands on her hips, Angel frowned at the makeshift obstacle course before her. And what of all those assorted piles of junk? Did she want them to MacGyver some sort of contraption to lift them across? Hardly. Instead Angel reached for the pendant hanging from her silver chain, a sterling reminder of the sigils for some of the demons listed in the Lesser Key. Breathing a sigh, she returned the necklace to its rightful place against her chest before she approached the wall in question.
It looked huge.
Looking over her shoulder, she tossed her partner a heads-up. "I'm going to take a run at it. Maybe I'll get lucky and make it across without all that rubbish there." And after sprinting toward the near-vertical surface, Angel clamored a valiant four feet upward before her inertial failed and she slid back down in an instant. "So much for just assaulting it the old fashioned way..." Which led to the question of how she might succeed using the miscellaneous s**t littering the ground.
With a sigh, Angel leveraged one of the boards between a sturdy milk crate and the wall to allow for a softer angle to the wall. And once she sprinted toward the obstacle again, she leapt atop the milk crate and maintained her speed well enough to climb the board and attempt to grasp the top once more. Thankfully, her fingers found a thorough hold on the top of the obstacle, and she hauled her way to the crest with only a mild sweat from her efforts.
"It's not too terrible, Colin. Come on, be a dear and lug yourself up over this thing." She waved him toward the wall impatiently. "I've not got all day, love. Besides, I'd like to change out of these sweaty clothes as soon as this affair's all said and done."

Standing on the ground below, Maggie watched as various people scrambled up the wall. Her attention was fixed mostly on her partner, Paris, and the girl who was offering to help, Rhiannon. When the offer for help was extended again, Maggie beamed a smile up at them. "Absolutely," she said, "though it might also take a forklift, my arms are dead."
Maggie rubbed her hands together and follow Paris' directions and her example. She accepted the boost up and then stammered, "I-I need a... h-hand." Thankfully, Paris was there, and through a combined effort of shimmying and lots of helping hands, Maggie found herself panting and gripping the top of the wall for dear life.
"I made it!" she said, punching one fist half-heartedly up into the air. "Thanks, Paris. And Rhiannon." After another panting breath, she said, "I'm Maggie. Do I have to go back down now?" Because that seemed like another hurdle. She wasn't sure if she could handle anymore challenges.

Once she felt his hands under her feet, she took a moment to fix her grip on the top of the wall. "Okay, ready!" She called, pushing off his boost and swinging her legs up, landing straddled atop the wall. A triumphant smile crossed her face as she adjusted, making sure she was balanced. Wiping her hands on her pants, she extended one down to Arias. "Thanks. Now get up here!" She laughed a little. They were so close to being done for the day, and thank goodness. She was a little tired, but more than anything, she wanted the chance to talk with everyone some more. Her legs braced against the wall as she prepared to pull him up. The girl was small, but she wasn't exactly weak, so, in theory, it should work.

Arias gave her a moment to get settled and then took her hand. He was careful not to let his additional weight send them both toppling back over the wall, and it took only a few short seconds before he was able to climb over the wall as well. His face lit up and he grinned at the girl. "Thanks," he said in response, breathing a sigh of relief. "I think I'm ready for this to be over. Not that it hasn't been fun, just not sure my body was expecting this sort of a workout."
He smiled; he wasn't upset, but man, he was going to need a little more exercise if he wanted to keep up with some of these people. To be fair to himself, he was proud at what he had accomplished—and Kinley, too—but all he could focus on was what he needed to do to improve.
At least he'd had fun, though—and met someone interesting!

Once they'd all made it over the wall, Kaatje hauled herself over it with a cunning combination of a milk crate and a running jump. She settled herself on the boards, hands bracing her on that very thin edge. "Good job, everyone," she said. "Like, I get it if my opinion means nothing, but you ought to be proud of yourselves--you all made it through. And if you couldn't meet Air Force standards, that doesn't mean you're a shitty fighter." Except as far as Kaatje was concerned, all the good intention in the world meant nothing without strength to back it up. "Just means you need some work."
She smiled. "If you liked what went on here, you can meet me in civ form on Saturday mornings at 10am at Regents' Park. Where all the old ladies hang out on Tuesday mornings, if that's still a thing the old ladies do. I'm certified in combatives training, so I can pass that along and answer any questions you may have." Kaatje surveyed them all again, and then nodded to herself. "My phone number's 585-555-5128, and you can call me any time after five o'clock in the evening, and I will pick up. The important thing I want you to remember is, you're not alone, and if you need backup, I'm here--and so are all your wingmen."
With that said, she dropped back to the ground. "Thanks for turning out, ladies and gentlemen."
First place goes to Tallulah & Jeanne, with 72 points out of 100. Second place goes to Luca & Orah, with 68 points out of 100.
If the first-place winners will please confer with their partner and PM me with which prize pack they want!
