It was strangely... cold without her tail flag. Horatio was not immune to her sudden lack of accessories, but she was never one to feel small. She took no--okay, maybe she took a little offense at how none of her fellow winners wanted to play her game. Instead, most of them seemed ready to play a game of 20 questions with their oppoent. What, had none of them ever known follow the leader?! It was a way better game than 20 questions! Oh, when all of this was over, they were going to have such a talk about playing games... harrumph!

The Himalayan was not a very good sport and turned away from the various Mauvians who tried to speak to the thing... though her ear curved every so often to check in on their progress. Whether they played the same game or not, every single one of those felines were automatic friends in her eyes - and if that weird creature so much as swiped at them, she would be on it like gravy on rice. Assuming she got more to work with than her own meager offerings.

A strange donation source appeared just when Horatio was wondering if she was going to have to go dig in the trash. Along with as sultry voice came a wave of icky Chaos - but also a shiny crystal, a pointed stick, and some glass! Along with the gifts came some important consideration. On the one paw, her Chaotic companion was playing the same game as her and had brought together some useful items. The pointed stick looked like it could be fun even if they weren't currently fighting a crazy feline thing, and the broken glass was shiny, if dangerous. On the other paw... it was a loser offering to help her. Losers and winners, working together, when there should be mass hysteria?

Eh, she'd probably regret crossing the streams, but it had worked for Ghost Busters and maybe it'd work here. Musing over the bits and pieces gathered thus far, she kneaded the grass in thought. "Maybe. With the stick and the goggles, we've got the solid makings of a slingshot, at least?"

Rhys' attempt to focus on the cat monster was sucessful, sort of. It wasn't exactly like a senshi starseed, so the feeling was not quite the same and it more difficult to pinpoint exactly what she was looking for. However after a little effort it was possible to sense the stone. It was most definitely inside that monster. Presumably still intact.

The creature seemed uninterested in talking. Any attempts to speak to it were met with more hisses before it finally began to stalk forward, closer to the largest group of cats.

The swish of a ribbon in it's directions caught it's attention and the monster lashed out, swiping at the cloth. Not a playful kitty swipe, but a swipe that caught the ribbon with it's claws slicing off a small sliver of fabric. That was perhaps not the type of attention they'd been attempting to gain.

As the beast lurched forward clawing and tearing, aiming now at cat tails instead of ribbon, the sole Mauvian powered up in her cat girl form (*********> might have caught notice of a sudden, familiar, shimmer on the ground nearby.

Had Dahlia been able to read Horatio's mind, in particular the reference to her being a 'loser', any chance at them working together would likely have devolved into an argument over how completely and entirely superior Dahlia was to Horatio and/or any other Mauvian in the park that night. With many points of evidence including beauty, grace, competence, and talent.

But luckily Dahlia was no mind reader and instead simply looked over the pile, before nodding in agreement.

"That plan sounds lethal enough to me. And should it not work sticks are easy enough to replace and start over." It wasn't often the corrupt Guardian concerned herself much with the more technical talents and items her species was known for creating, but for once she wished she was a bit more experienced. The failure of being able to activate her most recent attempt at an item was still well on her mind. Hopefully harpooning the creature with the stick and googles slingshot would do the trick though and she wouldn't have to worry about it.

The girl toppled back slightly, almost loosening her hat from her head as she had to dip back away from the feline beast. Her lips briefly formed a small frown as Thetis' poor ribbon was cut down in size.

"...Sorry about the rough ride, Thetis... seems like it might not be frightened so much..." she offered with a half chuckle before she paused on her bare feet.

Her ears perked up within the ear-holes of her hat as she tilted her head. "...well... hello-oh-oh there?" Mindful of her shoulder-companion, she placed a hand upon his back as she maneuvered to an odd sparkle at the ground.

It was becoming clearer that this creature had no interest in talking. It seemed to brush off all of their attempts to make contact with it and even ruined a perfectly good ribbon in the process! With a pout, Thetis made an effort to argue with the creature attempts but soon found himself nearly falling off of ********* from the creature's attack.

"Oh..." he said in mourning over his ribbon as he caught sight of it. What would Addison say? She would be so disappointed? She would, wouldn't she? A missing or shredded ribbon was just the tip of the iceberg though! His thoughts fell back to his appearance and how the mud was drying into his fur. He definitely couldn't go home in this state! She wouldn't love a dirty, dirty cat like him! He could barely tolerate it.

It was itchy, and every time he moved to ease his itch he found himself slipping further down ********* shoulder. After nearly falling off for the second time, he more than thankful for her hand when it pressed over his back as she maneuvered toward the sight she caught.

"*********," he said with hesitation. She looked like she was busy now, and he wondered if he was going to be a bother.

"Um... so... uh... Should we flee? Communicate? What do you want to do? *********? What is it? *********? Do you see something? *********? What are you doing? Oh, *********, do you think that's a good idea?"

His concerns about being a bother to ********* was lessened as his worry that she was making a target of herself grew.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:37 pm

The creature snarled loudly, spit flying from its gaping maw. Its head jerked violently from side to side as it moved recklessly, swiping at the smaller targets before it. It was so focused with causing as much havoc to the cats in front of it that it didn't notice *********> had her eyes on something else.

On the ground and only a short distance away, a small shard, crystal-like and pulsing with a faint energy glistened under the moonlight.

And with the monster distracted with swiping at the other cats? It was free for the taking.

Thetis received a reassuring pat to his muddy-back, followed by a long pet from his shoulders down to his tail.

"...well... we tried the communicating thing... not sure how successful that was..." The other Mauvians seemed to be dealing with that situation now, which made her lips frown a bit.

"...I suspect if we flee, things will only get worse..." She lifted her hat just enough to scratch at the top of her head when she finally got a good look at the thing that had caught her attention earlier.

Once more she used her hand to steady her shoulder companion as she stooped down to take a look, holding the odd shard of crystal to a level where Thetis could see as well.

"Do... you feel that, Thetis?" she asked vaguely as she seemed to inspect the shard.

The pat on his back had actually been reassuring but that assurance blindly disappeared when ********* ran her hand down his spine and tail. He fluffed up and moved his back into her hand with a happiness that only a cat being strokes could know before he finally settled down and his thoughts realized his embarrassment.

"H-*********>" He whined softly, lowering his body back down onto her shoulder.

Unable to argue with her points, he nodded along in agreement. He wasn't doing that simply because she knew all the right places to rub. Any cat would know that! Although, not every cat could grow hands. Maybe that was a factor? Maybe he just didn't have any ideas left or maybe he was really hoping he would agree to flee and was just disappointed now. Either way, his green eyes widen with excitement as she held up the shard.

"Oh dear! Oh me, oh my! What is this glorious speckle of starlight?" He spoke, his eyes captivated so intensely that he didn't want to pull away his stare.

"I... am unsure. I feel something..." he replied, his eyes briefly looking away to look up at his companion.

"Is there a thought on the tip of your tongue?"

As the creature continued to lurch and make calculated attacks and strikes Dahlia threw her thoughts and caution to the wind. Should she just forehead laser it? What if they ALL forehead lasered it? Would that be enough to take the stupid monster down or would it just leave them all completely vunerable to being destroyed?

"Might as well give this thing a try!" She called out to Horatio before attempting to pull back on their makeshift slingshot, sending their branch flying at the beast.

((Hi guys and gals, Iris here. My computer pretty much died over the weekend. I'm doing my best to try and salvage well.. anything out of the stupid thing, but it helped in unfortunately making this rp drag.

I'd like to finish it as planned but if people aren't interested I understand. If you are interested please post (we had a pretty cool 'prize' planned for everyone if we got a lot of interest), if not I'll work on pulling everything to a close soon. Thanks guys.))

The creature bellowed with pain and anger as a stick lodged itself in it's shoulder. For a few short moments it's attention turned entirely to itself, frantically clawing until it was able to pry the stick free. A stick covered in red blood.

Atleast that attack had landed unlike previous attempts. But it hardly looked like the creature was ready to fall over or turn to dust. It was going to take more than that.

Horatio had spaced out. There was no nicer (or less puntastic) way of saying it. Her naturally high energy was running dangerously low, and the crack to her head had become a constant, pulsing pain to contend against. She was vaguely aware that the threat was becoming, well, even more of a threat than it had previously been, but her teal eyes just looked sort of vacantly at it. So far, no one seemed particularly hurt...

The blood was what snapped her back to some sort of her normal state. Her Chaos... companion (she could never quite call the other, Corrupted Mauvian a 'friend') had launched their makeshift slingshot and drawn first blood! If they didn't keep on their paws, then it might be one of them that got hurt next. They others might not have wanted to play the same game as her... but that didn't mean Horatio wanted them to get hurt!

So, she quickly mewled to Dahlia, "Good shot! Keep hold of the goggles... I'll try and buy you some time to find another stick!" Never one to stop playing a game that they appeared to be winning, the small Himalayan dashed forward. Even with a massive headache and no clear idea of whether or not a plan would work, she had bravery and determination on her side.

"Hey, ugly monster thing! Look over here, look at me, hey, look! Not at any of the other kitties, nope, just at me with my... okay, so my flag's missing right now, but look anyway!" The speech was just a distraction to buy time for the blooad-coated forehead star to finish charging and when it did, Horatio didn't think twice about letting the energy beam fly straight for the monster.

C - Try something else: kitty forehead beam.

Snowball frowned as he watched some others launch an attack on the feline beastie. "Oh... I still don't think that's the way to solve this."

He was looking around trying to find something else to use. Before watching as another kitty aimed it's forehead beam at the monster. He shook his head before trying to draw the kitty beast away from the others by running between it's legs. "I really don't think he's a youma." He added trying to figure out what sort of energy this thing was giving off.

gaia_star C) Try something else...

The Mauvian opened her mouth as if to test if she still could open her mouth. With a few trial runs, she eventually was able to spout out a theory to her companion.

"...I think it might be an energy source..." She clicked her tongue as she turned the shard over between her fingers, still at a level that Thetis could see. "...I don't think I have encountered any other stones like this in Destiny City though..."

Though she truly was keenly interested in what she held between her fingers, she couldn't help but flicker her eyes to the rest of the Mauvians dealing with the odd feline beast.

"...okay, I am going to try something really quickly..." She couldn't sit and dilly-dally too long. With her hand, she reached under the Rex's belly and lifted him enough to remove him from her shoulder before setting him back on the ground again. Taking the newly freed hand, she flipped her hat off her own head, catching it after it had done two rotations in the air.

On the top of her head was a simple white mask, which had been hidden where her hat had been sitting just prior.

"Okay, Thetis... if you could hold this for me!" With a decent amount of care, she set her hat down next to the muddy-buddy before she snatched up her mask. She didn't really try to explain her actions, but soon enough she had flipped the mask to the back side and placed the newly discovered shard into an opening at the center. Maybe if she was lucky it wouldn't all explode in her face.

With a huge sigh, she placed the mask upon her face.

C) Attempt to distract the monster to give the others time to try and save it

Liryn had been about to agree with Sheena but despite the cat-monster's nervousness of prior, it seemed to have got over it enough to suddenly start lurching in their direction and swiping out with sharp looking claws.

With the way that it was heading in their direction it didn't seem like they would have time to figure out anything , "I'll buy some time so can keep working on things" he offered as he looked round their small little group, before suiting actions to paws and calling out "Hey over here!" Maybe on balance it wasn't the most sensible thing to do, but Liryn was thinking more on keeping cat monster's attention on him so that the other cats could work something out and reckoned that all he had to do was keep an eye out for the claws and p'raps those teeth.

It was only when he saw the fluffy white cat (Snowball) dart beneath the thing's legs that he realised that the two of them had had the same idea.

The second the mask was planted on her face, something happened.

A glow flickered in the center of the shard and quickly began to spread outwardly, stretching across the mask and spreading across ********* body—from the tips of her ears to the tips of her toes.

The monster had quickly grown disoriented with the cats running around; thanks to the efforts of Snowball and Liryn, it stumbled and hit the ground with a moan of despair and frustration.

It was only when the beast was trying to push itself up again that it saw the glow out of the corner of its eyes. Only now did it seem to remember it had another cat to deal with, and as it turned to face ********* full on it had to raise one arm up to shield its eyes from the light.

Just as the glow had been quick to come, it was quick to fade.

The monster hissed loudly, and the long haired bristled on the back of his neck.

He was afraid—and had good reason to be.

Now that Mauvian Sailor *********> had joined the fight.
