Vio laughed at Selina's commentary with the sort of giggle people reserved for public places. She shrugged lightly at Lola. "I was looking forward to being home when I was at school.... the novelty's worn off. Being the only one in the house the majority of the time loses it's charm after a while." It mystified her that she was allowed to stay home alone but not be out and about in London by herself. She supposed her parents thought home was safer. Maybe her mother had put up some sort of spells or wards to prevent the house from being broken into. It was a strange mix of the mundane and magical already, her uncle Gare reading emails on his laptop in the sitting room while her aunt Cora brewed a potion in the kitchen and prayed it didn't set the smoke detector sparking again.
She watched with a passive look on her face while Devonte rolled his eyes then left them to wander off on his own. "Have fun," she called after him politely, and noted the smirk on the Hufflepuff Bannister's face. Had he picked it up from his twin? "Enjoy these moments while you can," Vio said sardonically. "Before you know it you're adults who can actually tolerate each other. I know I treasure each and every one of my fights with my cousins." Honestly, there were very few fights now a days because everyone was old and boring and generally at work. It made her miss Thea all the more. Thea was always up for a good spat. She'd be going into her first year his year, if she was still alive. Maybe Vio would have been allowed to take her to get her school things. She'd have been so excited to be going to school with her and Eleazar, probably chattering a mile a minute about all the adventures they were going to have... But that was just a fantasy. Thea wasn't ever going to go to Hogwarts or have any adventures at all. As pretty as a picture hanging from a fixture... Strong like a family, strong as I wanna be! Bright as day, as light as play- As hard as nails, as grand as a whale! All I wanna be is everything... As warm as the sun, as silly as fun, As cool as a tree, as scary as the sea! The days get shorter and the nights get cold, I like the autumn but this place is getting cold, I pack up my belongings and head for the coast, Layton looked to Violante as she called after Devonte, and then raised an eyebrow once she mentioned to savor their arguments, as they'd inevitably get along when they grew older. For some reason, he found that hard to believe. "If that day ever comes, I'll know who to thank," he remarked jokingly. Well, half-jokingly. At this point, he couldn't even dream of getting along with his twin brother. He was so insufferably selfish and arrogant that it was a buzzkill just being in his presence. But it was nice to know Violante enjoyed fighting with her family members, if a bit strange to Layton.
Devonte waved back at Violante without even looking back, barely regarding the remark. He wasn't sure if she was being sarcastic or not, but he didn't exactly care enough to find out. They could go about having their own conversations, it wasn't like they were about anything interesting. His eyes scanned along the aisle of books, finding himself in the fiction section. He recognized a lot of the names located on the sides of the books, as his father always kept a library stacked with tons of them. He picked a few out, judging the books by their cover, something his mother would scold him not to do. Most of them looked kind of stupid, and definitely not sufficient enough to satiate his taste. OOC: It might not be a lot but I feel like I'm making the most, The days get longer and the nights smell green, I guess it's not surprising but it's spring and I should leave.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ xx "I am," Lola agreed with Selina, with a smile, "but then again I have my own fears that some day that won't always be the case. Since I've been fortunate enough this far in my life to have a warm welcome where ever I go, I don't know how I would handle not having that."As Layton marveled at the idea of him enjoying his arguments with his brother, like Selina and Vio purposed, Lola nodded and said, "You know though, Devonte is a lot nicer to you than he is to others. Not that he is that awful... not really: he could be far worse, truly he could be, but he seems fairly loyal to you Layton. That counts for something. After all, even though you two are obviously vastly very different people and Devonte is a bit prickly, especially at those he views as 'weak', and we all know that is the stereotype for Hufflepuffs even though I don't think it is all that true, he still is okay spending time with you."She glanced to where the said Slytherin had wondered off to and said with a nod, "He even put up with Selina and I for a bit because you were here. And he apparently despises us both."------------------------------------------------------------------------

The days get shorter and the nights get cold, I like the autumn but this place is getting cold, I pack up my belongings and head for the coast, Layton looked to Selina next as she put her own input into it; it was hard to believe sometimes that they were the same age. She seemed so much more intellectual. But, well, that's probably the reason she was put into Ravenclaw, after all. Soon after, Lola came in and brought something into the conversation that he found surprising, but not at the same time.
He knew that Devonte had kindness inside of him, and at this point it was too much to hope for that it would come out, but however little kindness that he showed at this point did seem to come out when he was around Layton, which made him smile. It was nice to know that Dev did care about him; it only took someone else pointing it out for him to realize. He couldn't help but chuckle when she brought up the Hufflepuff stereotype. Well, Devonte certainly thought it was true.
"I guess you're right there. And don't take it personally about Devonte. It's not that he despises you.. well, okay, maybe he does, but he's like that about everyone who doesn't think like him, which of course many sane people don't."OOC: It might not be a lot but I feel like I'm making the most, The days get longer and the nights smell green, I guess it's not surprising but it's spring and I should leave.

Vio huffed a small laugh when Devonte waved back at her, even if he wasn't looking. Her attention was quickly caught by Selina and her... predictions. Well, not really. She supposed they were more universal truths than anything else. When the parents died, all the siblings had was each other. When your friends left you, all you had was family. She had a strange sense of family, though, in that the people she felt most distant from were her actual biological parents. She had faint, clouded memories of both of her mother and father, and those memories were probably tainted from what she'd heard about them. At this point they were more like characters in a novel or play than real people whom she had once lived with on a house on a hill so long ago.
She smirked at Selina's comment. "That is true." If only she could cook. Or clean. She was good with sums, so she figured herself good with money, but as for the rest of it... That settled it, when she was a grownup she'd have a butler and a maid. Or maybe just a lot of house elves. Vio shrugged at what Lola pointed out to Layton. "There are worse people you could have as siblings. Then again, really awful siblings can be hard to spot if you're not related to them." For instance, she was immensely grateful her cousin Vander wasn't her brother. She was sure she'd have slapped the sneer off his face a long time ago if that was the case. She didn't understand how Anti put up with him, but maybe that was the whole point. She didn't give him any reactions at all, just stood by with a blank expression until he left her alone. It was actually sort of clever, since he was such an attention seeking brat.
She glanced at Layton as he spoke about his brother. "That's a lovely way to get a bad reputation," she said dryly. She didn't agree with plenty of people in Slytherin, but she didn't necessarily voice it. Better to save your opinions for people you actually trusted not to go around repeating what you said, and Vio tended to have high standards in terms of confidants. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ xx Lola frowned and shook her head at Selina's assessment of Devonte's hatred of them, and rolled her eyes, "I don't even think I spoke a single word to him at all last year. He doesn't know me to hate me. Granted, I've seen enough from sitting back in the back of my classes listening to know good and well that if he did ever get to know me he'd probably far more than merely despise me..." She shook her head, tucking a strand of her short hair behind her ear. "All I have to deal with is a four year old little brother in denial about how adorable he is," Lola said. "Actually, I'm pretty sure he bit my grandmother when she said how cute he was last spring. I wasn't there for that adventure..." She smiled at Layton, Vio, and Selina and chuckled and said, "At least Devonte doesn't go around biting people... or at least I haven't heard any say of it." "Ah, and Mr. Strudwick, the enabler, maybe he's busy picking fights with our absent Gryffindor classmates? I could see that happening," Lola added brightly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

The days get shorter and the nights get cold, I like the autumn but this place is getting cold, I pack up my belongings and head for the coast, Layton was sure that what Vio said about there could be worse siblings than Devonte, and he was sure of that. He wouldn't want to be a serial killer's twin brother, for instance. But then again, maybe they'd be kinder and more tolerable. He'd rather not think about that. "True, but then again, you're not related to him, and have to spend all your waking moments with him. But I suppose he could be much worse."
He chuckled at Selina's observations of his brother. She was spot-on. Dev was one of the laziest people he had ever met, in and out of school. He was more interested in pissing people off than doing anything worthwhile, like actually doing his chores. "You're right there, Selina. I'm very grateful that Hamilton isn't here. He seems to be the only person my brother likes and gets along with. Whether that's good or bad, I'm not sure."
He chuckled again at what Lola said. There was no way he'd even think of biting anyone, probably because of stupid reasons though. He'd be too afraid of making contact with unpure blood, according to him. "It doesn't seem like he knows any of those he hates very well, other than their names and houses, which gives him reason enough to hate them. And now that he knows yours.. well, it's only a matter of time until he becomes your enemy. He probably won't voice it actively, though. Too much effort for him," Layton joked with a laugh. "You don't have to worry about him biting people. Something about getting mixed with undesirable blood."OOC: It might not be a lot but I feel like I'm making the most, The days get longer and the nights smell green, I guess it's not surprising but it's spring and I should leave.

xSeymour Benjamin Ryansxxxxx xxxx<5th Year><Single: Morven's b***h. Deal with it.> My watch broke last week And I don't need directions to know I'm < at Mum's shop > And an FYI, looking this Awesome is an art!
------------------------------------------------------------------------ xx Seymour had been less than impressed by his Mum's newest employee. She hired yet another Hufflepuff. What was with Puffs working in a book shop, wasn't it more a field for Ravenclaws? Or it should be. His mum said something about Puffs being good at customer service and hard workers. Benjamin was pretty sure his mother still thought the whole house was sort of a joke. It was an ongoing thing in his family, Dad, Mum, and him weren't particularly impressed by Hufflepuff's or believed them to be tough. However, out of the blonde Hufflepuffs his mother could hire he supposed Fairy-Princess Elsie was better than Bimbo-Barbie Cathy. Of course Barbie's dad was filthy rich or whatever so she didn't need a job. However, he didn't know if his Mum knew Elsie was the big sister of Morven or not, but Benjamin sure knew he wasn't dumb enough to mention to his mother that he had gotten to first base... maybe second with a certain redheaded Slytherin. At least he didn't get kicked out of the library for snogging some girl like Dad had in his school years. Or he hadn't yet. There was always time, if Benjamin decided to follow that legacy of his Dad's. Seeing Elsie at the cash register, the summer rush not going to start for another week or so, Benjamin decided it was his duty to drive Morven's lame Puff Fairy Princess sister nuts as much as possible. He whistled as he pulled himself on the counter and grabbed the latest addition of Wicked Wizards, one of the 17 and over magazines his Mum carried, and flipped it open to the centerfold and held it up to Elsie and pulled up his shirt and said, "I think my abs are better... what do you think? Maybe I should try modeling sometime instead of just being the photographer. Yes? No? Come on... I need an objective opinion... though aren't you more into the more mole-people look than hot Greek god look like I embody and this guy does?"He didn't even bat an eye at the fact that the centerfold had only a strategically placed quaffle in his hands as he flashed a wink at the observers. Honestly, the guy was more covered than they were some months. Must be a modest or shy model this month... Benjamin was pretty sure it was a guy on one of the Regional Quidditch teams though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morven didn't see how every time something good happened Elsie just had to suck the good out of it like a blonde, cheerful vampire that thrived in sunlight. So not a vampire at all, really. Flourish and Blott's had seemed like the perfect place for her and Seymour to be able to snog without getting immediately caught. It was pretty easy to get 'lost in the stacks' of a bookshop. Morven could hardly have him over to her own home; Elsie and Dave would be on that like dogs on a piece of raw meat, and then Elsie would tell Newlyn and Newlyn would take her aside for a second puberty talk and everything would be horrid. So the shop was good. Except Elsie worked there.
Of course, Elsie didn't know, but her subconscious was probably programmed to seek and destroy anything Morven wanted, so that was that. She was right there, at the register, all the time, and it was sort of hard to escape the notice of your own nosy big sister in her workplace. But she was nothing if not a Slytherin, and Morven could get creative. She slipped into the shop just in time to hear the familiar sound of Seymour's voice when he was being gleefully irritating, and suppressed a smirk as she paused behind a shelf to listen for a moment.
"I don't think you're even old enough to be looking at that," Elsie was saying patiently, before she fell silent for a moment and then said curiously, "Mole people? Have you been talking to my little sister?" Morven seethed at the phrasing there; she was not Elsie's little sister- there was only a two year gap between them!- before wiping the scowl off her face for a far more neutral expression as she rounded the corner of the shelf and came into view of the both of them. Seymour was on the counter with his shirt pulled up and holding up a magazine, and Elsie was seated behind it, where you could practically see the gears in her head turning for a few seconds before she spotted Morven, eyes widening.
Morven completely ignored her in favor of Seymour, and asked in a bored sounding tone, "Could you possibly get off the counter and help me find a book? I can't find Confronting the Faceless anywhere." In actuality, Morven knew where the book was, but she wasn't overly burdened with the truth right now, and she was sure he would catch her drift. It wasn't like he was stupid. You got your figure all nice; But the heart stays colder than ice. You got 25 grand on the bubble... And you're the one telling me, That you don't think you're in trouble! I might be a fan of your insolence... But that don't make you the innocent. You're just like the rest of those girls.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ xx Benjamin rolled his eyes when Elsie decided to act all prim and proper chiding him with some nag voice about his age. How Morven's sister could be such a drag baffled Benjamin. Then again the Elsie was a Hufflepuff and everyone knew Puff equaled lame. However, when the blonde demanded to know if he had been talking to her little sister, Benjamin burst out laughing, "Hate to break it to you, but I am like 120 percent sure Mori, like most of us, have better things to chat about than how kinky you and mole-boy get on a regular basis."He shook his head and waved a hand about to continue when he spotted his favorite Slytherin redhead come up to the counter ignoring Elsie to address him and ask him to get off the counter and help her find a book. "Hmm... like magic, you speak of her and she appears," Benjamin said with mock marvel in his voice before raising a brow at Morven and sliding off the counter, the copy of Wicked Wizards still in his hand, though he did close it. Waving in the air he said, "Guess what I caught Fairy Princess with. She's really going to break poor mole-boy's heart checking out the 'hunk of June' you know. Oh well," He said tossing the magazine onto the counter and raising a brow as he leaned against the counter for a moment. "Confronting the Faceless? For Defense Against the Dark Arts NEWT levels right? I suppose I can help. Follow me, then," He said, playing the reluctant shop help, as he stretched, the movement lifting up his shirt some, as he began to head towards the back of the store offering a sales pitch as he went. "New or used? We also have a new addition, a NEWT study guide for the DADA portion. Guaranteed by the publisher to increase your score by five percent or your money back, or so they say," He said, "And we both know my talents for finding the best used books..." He paused after weaving through and behind a few shelves not far from the door to the store room, and he paused, crossing his arms, raising a brow, and smirking as he leaned against a back wall bookcase full of Defense Against the Dark Arts related books, "Actually, I found a real gem I've been hiding for a year or two in the back... the head girl from a year or so back sold it back to us... it's amazing. True gold mine. I've been saving it for myself, but I'm sure you can convince me to dig it up and part with it." He raised a brow and winked at her, figuring Elsie would be busy at the register putting away the magazine and hopefully regretting getting a job at his Mum's shop. Seriously, his Mum would start putting the boring Puff to ruining his good fun like all the time-if she hadn't started to think about it already, and Mum didn't know about certain extra curricular activities he took up during the last semester. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morven scoffed. "Fairy Princess? You have to be kidding me. And Rat Face would probably love to have a little looksie at that himself, isn't that right, Elsie?" she asked mockingly, addressing her older sister for the first time. The stare Elsie affixed her with for that was one usually reserved for something like a pile of sick on the floor. "Dave and I both preferred the the May issue, actually," she said coolly. "Then again, we are the target audience." The younger Vass rolled her eyes dismissively and ignored her, carefully keeping her gaze from lingering for very long when Seymour's shirt slipped up, and instead adjusting the rather short hem of her dress. "No, just for fun," she replied sarcastically, before following him, Elsie watching both of them go with narrowed, discerning blue eyes. "Ooh, five percent or my money back," Morven echoed dryly as they went on their merry way. "Ducky. And of course. You're a legend among us mere mortals." She quickened her pace as they neared the very back of the shop and the storeroom, before pausing as he did so. "Hm. I suppose we'll have to go back there to get it. I hope it's not too hard to find." The edges of her mouth curled up slowly in a sly smile before she impulsively kissed him on the mouth, then quickly took a teasing step away, arms folded behind her back. "Come on, I haven't got all day for some book." You got your figure all nice; But the heart stays colder than ice. You got 25 grand on the bubble... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ xx Benjamin had only let out a short slightly exasperated sigh at Elsie's response about the magazine. He might have to start putting snakes in her lunch box or something to so much as get her to blink. She had to be like the most boring human on the planet. Must be why his mother hired her. Not that now Morven was here he spent that much time dwelling on her far less attractive sister. And now that they were in the back, as he rambled on with his sales pitch he could appreciate how much leg was showing, and the short hem of the dress just daring to show more if she didn't keep having a dress on in mind. He raised a brow at her reply, "Ducky?" But he became a bit distracted when she suggested going in the back to find it and then kissed him, moving away quicker than he got a chance to properly snog her back. He squinted his eyes at her for a moment and then said, "Knowing me, I probably put it in my room... we could always check there first."He chuckled grabbing her hand as he stepped forward and said in her ear, "Kidding, Mum is upstairs right now making lunch I think." And then opening the door to a store room, that though obviously there was an order to it all, was full of stacks, and shelves, and boxes of book. Looking about he said, "Hmm... you may need to refresh my memory," He joked, as he stepped forward and kissed her on the lips, his hand reaching to curl around her waist and dared to slip farther down her back as he pulled back and joked, "Okay, I lied I totally know where it is, but honestly would you want to waste a lovely day like this studying some nerd's notes or studying this-" he paused waving a hand at himself and winking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morven rolled her eyes when he mentioned his room. "Figures. You're so forgetful," she said sarcastically, before slowly curling her fingers around his hand when he took hers and letting him lead her into the storeroom. She made sure to elbow the door closed after them before returning her attention to Seymour as he kissed her. She could feel his hand on her waist and then trailing further and further down her back while she kissed him back, stepping right up to him with her arms draped over his shoulders and fingers laced behind his neck. She pulled back for a moment to comment teasingly, "You're a terrible liar, Seymour. But you probably need to review some things yourself." Morven's lips returned to his, eyes half closed, and she stayed like that for what seemed to her like some time, though in reality only a minute or two at the most had passed before the door banged open and someone gasped. Her eyes flew open and she stopped kissing Seymour to stare in muted surprise at her sister. Elsie dropped the slip of paper she'd had clutched in her hand to hurriedly shut the door behind her, before scooping it back up the floor, face red like she was the one who'd been caught in a compromising position. "What are you-," she started to say, before shaking her head furiously. "Are you kidding me? You're both way too young to be snogging like your lives depend on it in the storeroom!" she snapped. Morven made an obscene hand gesture at her before returning the fire with, "Like you and Rat Face aren't shagging every chance you get! Gods, get a life!" Elsie squared her shoulders. "What we do is none of your business. We're adults- you two are not, last time I checked! Does Newlyn know about this? Does your mum?" She turned a withering stare on Benjamin. "And get your hands off my sister." Morven almost snarled, "He can put his hands wherever the hell I let him." You got your figure all nice; But the heart stays colder than ice.
