Pausing, he turned, giving her a confused look. "On my... stomach?"

She nodded, stepping closer. "Lie face down." It was her turn to pause. "But you don't have to."

"Um..." Rather than question it, he got on the bed, lying down with his face in the pillow.

Sherry sat down on the edge of the bed, grateful to be sitting. She was a lot more tired than she'd thought, but she was pretty sure it was all mental exhaustion. Mental and emotional. Armagnac was still ranting quietly away in her head, and that didn't help things.
Turning, Sherry placed one hand on Jake's back, and let the fingers of her other hand touch his hair. "Is that comfortable? If it's not, you should move." Even as she spoke, she started squeezing his shoulder.
It was back rub time. Mostly because she wasn't leaving, not after everything, and because she wasn't sure if she wanted to sleep. But also because she felt bad about everything. Jake was lost and confused and... Sherry didn't know how to fix any of it. But this, this she could do.

She forgave him so easily AND she was giving him backrubs. Seriously, he didn't deserve her. Not at all.
He turned his head, not realizing how stiff his neck was. Not just his neck though. More like his entire body felt as if it had been hit by a trunk. He was numb and sore, and the emotional outburst had drained what little energy he had.
He sighed and closed his eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.

Armagnac agreed with Jake, and she was not being shy at all about telling Sherry exactly what she thought he deserved. Sherry found the rage even more tiring, but the longer it went on the easier it was to ignore.
She tried to focus on what she was doing, finding it soothing and calming, something which she was grateful for. It was a light back rub, as she didn't have the energy for anything spectacular, but it covered neck, back and shoulders thoroughly. Her thoughts did wander from time to time. Over the past couple days, over the argument, over things said and done. Too much, that's what it was. The past few days had been nothing short of emotionally exhausting.
Jake was sleeping. That was evident after a while. She smiled at that. If it had been anyone else, she would have left and never spoken to them again. But not Jake, never Jake.
She sighed, finding herself curling up in the space between him and the edge of the bed, her fingers trailing idly up and down his back. He'd said she could stay, so she did. Her hand stopped moving only a few moments before she fell asleep.

He had just started falling asleep, almost, until he felt Sherry's hand stop moving. After several minutes passed, he slowly opened his eyes, noticing she had fallen asleep beside him.
Letting out a soft chuckle, he reached out, pulling her close, and planted a kiss on her forehead. "I'm sorry for being such a jerk to you. I don't deserve you, yet you still stayed. I promise I won't let you go, Sherry. Ever again." He paused, and then tilted his head, brushing his lips against hers before he rested his chin on top of her head, his arms still wrapped around her.
Moments later, he was asleep, and for once, his dreams were pleasant.
