Thread hit, Kibeth's tail tip. She roared, blinked between, and returned to blast another bit of Thread from the sky.

Malcarreth would have heaved a sigh of relief if he wasn't already gasping in every breath, his deep chest going like a frantic bellows. He couldn't give in and land now though, not in the last wave with a bronze as his commander. He would do better than the arrogant male expected, there were no 'ifs' or 'buts', it was simply something that had to occur.
Crunching on and gulping down fresh stone Malcarreth wheeled towards a huge clump of Thread and spun into a barrel roll. Then he started to flame, tearing through the silver strands like a burning arrow through cobwebs.

The move looked impressive and certainly took out a huge tangle of Thread but it was not without risk. A small clump had failed to ignite and caught on Malcarreth's left flank as he spun out the other side of the patch he had been burning. Giving a half choked gasp of pain the blue vanished between to shake it off, reappearing after several hearbeats in formation with his wing.

This time, thread to the back. Rochelle felt it only when it seared through her jacket. She hissed, hard, and they blinked between again. No roaring, nothing but the sting of what she hoped to be a very small wound.

And then before they could properly descend to land, a third wave. Viath met it gamely, though his wings trembled with exertion, and the flame he gave at a clump was half-hearted at best. La took a deep breath, keeping alert and looking around her, but she leaned forward and stroked the black's hide gently.
It's all right. We're out of stone anyway. We have to land. C'mon, before you get hurt.

V'lay and Blue Vinath - burn post

Twisting and shrieking defiance at the third wave of Thread, Vinath went after it with a lust V'lay wasn't entirely certain he was comfortable with. His dragon was moving too quickly, now, jerking him in the straps and putting undue pressure on ribs that still weren't healed. But the bluerider grit his teeth and held on resolutely, reminding himself that he'd have time to recover when Thread was done falling.

C'tis squeezed his eyes closed and tried to push energy and strength to his dragon though their bond. Who was he kidding? Malcarreth had as much will as could be wished for but that carried you only so far when your body was exhausted.
<...Right. Yes. Of course.> Malcarreth spat a jet of flame at the nearest tangle of Thread but his eyes were beginning to lose their blazing light. Grey seeped in at the edges, pulsed through, announced his weariness to all the world no matter how much he wanted to hide it. More Thread was coming towards them now and he tried to flame it, tried to move, but it was all becoming too much.

The bite of Thread made the dragon snarl and whirl, almost prepared to flame his own wing in response to the accumulated aches and the Threadlust that had come over him, but V'lay held fast, digging his heels into Vinath and directing him between instead.
Keep your head, we can get through this. We'll be all right.

In the end he couldn't quite get out of the way but a lucky gust of wind created by a larger dragons' wings blew it off course a little, and though it brushed Malcarreth's leg he was able to shake it off between without major damage done.

Last wave. Think we can last through the final push?
There was sarcasm in the silver's tone as it echoed in Idris' head, and the rider couldn't resist a grim bark of laughter. When she'd dreamed of flying Thread during their weyrling days, she'd always envisioned the fragile weyrling Singhath growing up to be a delicate, sleek, agile thing - which he never forgot, because he never let her forget.
Lumbering great beast of the sky that he was, she loved him nonetheless. Wheel and turn, or bleed and burn...
Another line of fire across the sky. Another patch of Thread obliterated into ash.

Thread fell heavy across Singhath's left wing, and the silver did not so much cry out in pain as roar at it in anger. He was between in the blink of an eye, then back to his place.
The wound did not seem to spook him so much as shake him out of his indolence. The usually smooth silver kicked it up into the next gear, quickening his pace and turning his head to take another jawful of firestone.

Krith snarled, blowing flame at a patch that was coming down towards them. This was not going as well as it could, but they weren't going to stop, not until thread had stopped falling.

S’dekai and Pioth // Burn Post
There was a lot you could say about S'dekai and Pioth. That they were idealistic fools, that they had a tendency to make stupid decisions, that they weren't terribly competent or lucky at anything...
But they did learn. And once Pioth had settled into the unfamiliar rhythms of the Trine wing, the pair of them rallied magnificently for the final wave. Pioth dodged narrowly around another clump of falling Thread, then flamed to make any silver proud.
