Emmi hugged him back. "Hey..don't you worry about it. " she said smiling softly and looking at his face. "It was a longish time ago.." Emmi softly placed a hand on his cheek and kissed him softly.

Carter Miller
I look at her and nodded. "It was a long time ago. I shouldn't be so tense about it either." I mumble. I kissed her softly back and sigh as I thought that this year will surely test my emotions. Not because of Emmi but because there are people here who would love to fight the loner just to see if he can fight at all. I smiled a little at thinking that maybe I can scare them with my ice dragon.

Emmi smiled softly and rested her head on his shoulder again. She silently wondered what he was thinking about as she watched the fight again. Emmi thought about the fights she had and how before she came here, she defeated one of the strongest demons, and her dad. And that she was ready to be on her own.

I leaned my head against Emmi's and sigh with the peace of mind it brought to know that she was fine. "Emmi, please tell me in the future if someone hurts you." I said seriously as I held her close to me. No one was going to put another scar on her. I silently growled in my head. My emotions shouldn't be the ones in control at the moment. I inwardly shake myself out of the emotion and looked at the battle field to distracted myself.

Emmi bit her bottom lip and heard what he said, "I will, I promise Carter.." She said to him. Emmi felt ten times safer with him, as she was close him, head on his shoulder. Emmi watched the fight silently, happy to be by his side.

"Thanks... I just don't like seeing people harm cause of ruthless basters" I growled softly then sigh as I realized that I might have frighten her with my small display of anger. I don't like being consumed with emotions. I smile and watched the match with her

Samuel Bates
Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer

Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?"

It didn't take long for the arena to suddenly fill up again, after Sam's little scrap with one of the supposed school 'guardians.' The fight had failed to impress him as much as it should have, but he did have a grudging respect for the man's strength; however, the fight had left him wanting more. The taste of power had given him the urge to fight someone actually on his level, so he could actually do some damage rather than throw everything he had at a wall or nothing. He wanted to fight someone he could actually beat; he wanted a fair fight. However, as more and more people entered the arena, Samuel became less and less certain anyone in the room met that criteria. They were either far, FAR beneath him- in the case of most of the students that entered, and at least one of the teachers- or on the same level as the guardian, in other cases. He frowned at that, scratching at his yellowing eye skin beneath his hood. He leaned against his oak staff rather heavily, limping off towards the bleachers. Somehow with his luck he'd managed to seat himself just a few spaces in front of where a rather affectionate young couple chose to sit and commence the touchy-feely emotions crap. He turned around, pulling his hood back a bit to reveal his face; it was hideously scarred, and the place where his eyes should have been were filled with a bright liquid silver. His lips were tattered and missing in places, and one of his ears was completely gone; his left cheek looked more like it'd been burned off, while his right cheek was criss-crossed with wire-thin lines. He still had a full head of thick brown hair, but it fell over a forehead that was torn to hell, and the skin around his eye sockets almost seemed to be rotting- a yellowish pallor, certainly not the color of healthy skin. However, despite his nightmarish countenance, he offered a playful smirk. "Sorry about interrupting your lovey-dovey stuff... But I couldn't help but notice you were talking about wanting to fight," he muttered, grinning to himself in his awful way. "If you're still up for it, I'll go a few rounds with you. Anything's better than sitting there listening to that crap," he muttered under his breath, still playfully. He would have winked at the joke, had he eyelids to do so with; as it were, he offered a chuckle that sounded more like glass scraping against sandpaper.

Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."

I looked at the man who sat not that far from me and Emmi. I lightly Pushed Emmi aside and walked toward the man and examined his face. Nodding I open my back pack and pulled out a book of spells. I held my staff up and pointed at him. "Don't worry, this won't hurt." I chanted a spell and healed the worst of the wounds that I was able. fixing his lips, forehead, and some of the skin near the eye socket. I smiled even though my face was stone. "I don't mind fighting you. I wanted to test some of new magic.... sorry i couldn't heal more.. my healing magic isn't what you would call great." i mumble softly i then looked to Emmi and told her that i was gonna spar with this fellow and not to worry. "I'm Carter Miller and i'm an ice mage" i grin at the other mage and smirked a little "Who kicked your a** this good?" i ask playfully. I knew that some of it was going to scar so it might have been a touchy subject i landed on.

Samuel Bates
Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer

Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?"

What was left of Sam's eyebrow raised as the man began trying to heal his face. His lips became mostly formed again, his forehead ceased the eternal itching of peeling skin, and the rotting around his eyes became simple scar tissue. All those wounds were old, almost as old as Sam himself; which, to be fair, wasn't but 19 years. "That tickled," he muttered, smirking as the man finished healing his face. "Thanks for that. I'm not exactly healing-inclined, and I couldn't find a spellbook in the library that could walk me through it. Not one I could read, anyway," he muttered, waving his hand in front of his face. The silvery liquid that took the place of his eyes sat there placidly, as if demonstrating his blindness. "Name's Samuel Bates, and I'm a necromancer. More or less. As far as all this," he muttered, gesturing vaguely at his face, "This was my foster parents, a long time ago. Like, before I could even pick this thing up," he muttered, hefting his staff a bit. As it came back down and hit the bleachers, it made an almost gong-like sound, and Sam smirked. "Thankfully the last guy I fought decided I was ugly enough as-is. I fought the school's guardian- deal was I had to last ten seconds. I nailed it, more or less, though he kind of cheated. It wasn't an official rule, but I always consider teleporting as cheating. Molecular destabilization on that level should basically reduce anything that tries it to a molten pile of slag... But these pesky over-powered jerkasses can all do it, for some reason." He chuckled a bit, shrugging as he glanced towards the arena. The fight was as clear as day in his mind, and it brought a smirk to his face. That guardian was a piece of work, for sure. "Anyway, last second of the fight I kinda stole his supposedly 'infinite' power and used it to Kamehameha his a**. He blocked it with his arm, but it got pretty ******** up- broken bones sticking out of the skin, all kinds of nasty lacerations... Real rough job of it. He shrugged it off like nothing, though, and just walked off. Probably didn't even feel any pain at all, until some girl tried to clean it off with a wet rag. Because, you know, movie cliches and all." He seemed to rant a bit, and not all of what he said made a whole lot of sense... But that's because he was brushing up against the Fourth Wall, and wasn't exactly sane either.

Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."

I listened to the mage and nodded at his story. "I was thinking of taking on that guardian but after hearing that so many people can't beat him i began to think that maybe no one can. I only now healing cause i found a book on it in a book store once. You really messed that guy up that bad?!" i couldn't help it, i was so amusing and i chuckled a little at the thought of the guy being hurt by a wet rag more then a spell. "Maybe i need to learn some of your spells." i smirk with my stone face like face.
