Shujaa nodded, glad she was able to offer at least a little bit of information. Hopefully, she hadn't just told her a bunch of crap that wasn't actually true- that would be kind of embarrassing. She looked at Kiek, smiling faintly at his question. She had been asked many times in the past what she was in the pridelands, some tones nicer than others. He, at least, didn't seem to mean anything malicious with his question.

"I was born here," she said lightly, "I don't really know the circumstances behind my birth, but I know these lands have always been home to me." She smiled warmly, as in love with the pride lands as anyone else. It was her home, after all.

Fentara laughed. "Oh! I didn't know you've seen a leopard before! Or are you just smart? Either way, you're right, leopards are smaller than lions. I guess that does mean that I should be smaller," he smiled faintly, "but sometimes hybrids get some weird genes. We can grow much larger than we're supposed to, which is what happened to me. I ended up like a leopard and a lion put together in looks and weight!" He laughed in spite of himself. "my mother looks more like a leopard than I do- she's a lot smaller than me or my brother."

"What about you? When you grow up, do you want to be a normal sized lion, a big one, or a little one?"

Oblivious, Emrey smiled a nodded, unaware that he had completely missed the point of things. When he asked if they were hunters, he gave a nod. "Yes, though I suppose I don't do a lot of hunting. I think I would like another sort of job, you know? Like looking after cubs or tending to wounds. I am... not very good at hunting." The only lion of the family and he couldn't hunt. And it wasn't him feeling weak compared to his strong, agile brother, either.

He really did just suck at hunting.

"Must be nice having a big family," he chuckled, "Our family is pretty small, all things considered. Are you all hunters too?"

Janga laughed at Dayo's comment. "No, neither did I! But it's good to see everyone around! Looks like the pride lands call to those of the fail gene pool. I hope I get to meet even more family members some day!" He smiled at the thought of it, though he couldn't imagine there were too many cubs left out there.

Surely his father had not bred THAT much... right?

Ganthet smiled when he saw a kind female approach the young cubs. It seemed he was not the only one who was concerned about the young roaming around on their own, and he appreciated that very much. She seemed to have cubs of her own, so she was probably much better suited to look after them than someone who did not know the first thing about cubsitting. He was happy that he lived in a pride- it wasn't strange for mothers to help random cubs. They all protected one another.

He found it delightful.

"Well, I think I shall go sit down for a spell," Ganthet said warmly at the cub, "thank you for looking after them, miss. I do hope they don't get under paw. I was just trying to keep an eye on them, but I feel you will be better suited in that endeavor than me." He smiled and bowed his head politely, before getting to his feet and quietly taking his leave.

Shangwe smiled. "that's probably the best thing I've heard all day," he replied lightly." Xho was an innocent sort, and he liked that she seemed to look on the bright side of things more often than not. It was warming, in a way.

"You're right- we should make him feel welcome. And I'm sure we would be able to make him feel more at home, too. It's probably hard being in a new place, not really knowing how everyone is going to treat you. I wonder if we'll get a chance to meet him up close?"

Rasha sighed and let out a small chuckle at that. "Maybe that's true," he relented, "maybe we are all slaves and this new kid is here to make it look like he's freeing us or something... this plot is getting very elaborate." While he was angry that someone they didn't know was supposed to be their heir, someone they were supposed to respect, he didn't dislike that she was trying to lighten the mood with a bit of humor.

It calmed down his case of the cranky, anyway.

"So you think he's going to be a good king because you're not from around here, either?" He frowned, "I guess I haven't heard about anyone who looks like you going on any rampages or doing anything against the pride, so maybe you have a point. I just... don't like it, I guess. This is the only home I've ever known, and I don't want to see it change all of a sudden." He gave a pout and looked at the female. Maybe he was being a bit dramatic. Could he really be blamed for it?

He loved his home.

Rei joined the crowd surrounded by his usual friends and closely followed by two of his sons. As the Scout trio stood quietly and watched the impressive gathering with interest, the large orange lion found many of his children in the loud assembly. He tried to meet their gazes and smile but most had their eyes on Pride Rock and Rei ended up doing the same until the King – his mate’s sister, as he also knew him – appeared at the edge and presented the pride with a young juvenile. The Heir. Well, it was about time. He had started to wonder if Simi was going to choose a heir from his many nephews and nieces, perhaps even one of Rei’s sons or grandsons. A scary thought that had now been put to rest.

“Ah, so that’s what this is all about.” Though not related by blood, Rei felt immediately connected to the young little lion. The family resemblance was unmistakable as a few of Rei’s children also greatly resembled the young heir. He wouldn’t have been out of place in any of his litters and Rei couldn’t help but smile widely. “About time, don’t you think?” The idea that Simi’s grandson had been born in a different pride didn’t really bother him. Rei’s circumstances were quite similar and he didn’t feel any less of a Pridelander than any of the other lions that had been born in the pride.

Akairo was flanking Rei’s right side, closely followed by his maned wolf companion.

“No wonder the hunters are always busy…” Akairo had joked when he saw the staggering number of mouths to feed all gathered in one spot. The sea of lions was nothing if not impressive and the red lion laughed at the great number of lions that he had babysat at one point or another. It made him feel a bit old and think of a certain lioness for some reason. “Rei... Sama… I can see your kids everywhere I look.” This was more truth than joke and Rei’s impressive fertility was mostly at fault there.

“He seems to be taking all this rather well.” The red Scout said as the young lion was introduced. “The King’s grandson, hmm? It’s a little weird that he’s the one being chosen when there are still some of the King’s sons around.”

“Poor cub. All these mean eyes on him. Doesn’t seem right.” The maned wolf’s voice was quieter than everyone’s else, mostly just directed at Akairo’s ears. She was happy that the youngster was watching safely from afar but she assumed the open discord would be obvious even from his rocky perch. It struck her maternal core to see the young lion being judged so quiet when everyone knew so little about him at this point. “Shouldn’t you all be happy? You’ve always talked about how the King should get this heir business out of the way.”

Samawati was on Rei’s left, looking almost like a fat dwarf next to his purple-eyed friend. Though he was of heavier constitution and had a thicker coat, Rei’s impressive height made him look terribly small by comparison.

“He’s probably being raised for the position from birth. And he’s the King’s grandson. Seems like a good choice.” Samawati said almost defensively in his usual gruff manner. It annoyed the golden Scout to see so many in the crowd openly judging the little juvenile for whatever reason. Perhaps it was the fact that he’d raised a small group of orphans as his adoptive children that sparked such feelings in the golden Scout but as he looked at the Heir, a little King in the making, he felt oddly protective. Neither Samawati, his mate Sarabi, nor any of his adoptive children had been born in the pride and he hoped they would never feel like outsiders in their own home. The only thing that bothered him was the fact that the young lion might not be fully aware of the menace that the graveyard pack posed but hopefully Simi’s wounds and knowledge would be sufficient for Prince to understand the horrible threat that went by the name “hyenas”. “He has much to learn.”

Mheetu followed his father though his eyes lingered on a young little lion by his side. He kept rolling his eyes at the conversation that he was having with one of his younger brothers who seemed to be of the same exact mental age as the blue-eyed cub.

“Kwende, I swear! If you talk about the border one more time, I will…” he paused and sighed, looking half worried and half amused. “Please never go there alone, Koru. We’ve talked about this. Your uncle is big enough to take care of himself but you still need to grow a bit, alright?” His lesson was cut short by the introduction of the heir and Mheetu smiled. “Finally.”

Kwende laughed at the eagerness in the young cub’s blue eyes and decided that he would have to keep a close eye on his little nephew. The kid was bound to cause trouble sooner or later. Despite the fact that it looked as though he was promoting a border escapade, he was actually testing the cub’s likelihood of running off to the border, something he’d rather avoid if he could. Kwende himself had run off to danger enough times to know what things NOT to say to an adventurous cub at this age and too much supervision and rules didn’t always work for the best.

“Pfff. I would make a better King.” He said when Simi was done speaking, obviously joking. To be honest, he cared little about this Heir business and apart from the fact that the juvenile was some kind of cousin to him, the young lion couldn’t hold his interest for long. “Are we done now? Can we go?”

Koru was having some trouble keeping up with the adults but he wouldn’t admit it. He was relieved when they arrived at their destination and looked at his younger uncle with his blue jewel-like eyes filled with excitement and wonder as Kwende told him how his hunting party had once taken down a giant hippo near the border but then couldn’t find a way to bring the heavy carcass back home. He wasn’t quite certain that the story was true or just another one of Kwende’s fantastical tales but it mattered little to him. He was just enjoying the moment with his silly uncle.

“Uncle Kwende, the day you become King is the day the pride falls.” Koru said seriously, grinning widely after when his uncle faked indignance. He looked at the smaller shape next to his granduncle for a long moment and then finally piped up. “Is he family?” This was a common question for the cub. The answer was usually yes and when his father nodded in response, Koru wasn’t surprised. “Can we meet him later?”

Nimbe jumped into the crowd and made her way to one of the denser areas, fascinated by the impressive number of lions present. Some of them she knew personally and many had hunted with her in the past but she wasn’t really close to many lions outside of her family. She eyed the Heir critically, wondering silently why the King had brought one of his relatives from outside the pride to take his place. From what she’d heard, King Simi had a considerable family in the pride though she didn’t know how many of those were his direct descendants. Well, she cared little for it. At least, the pride’s future seemed to be secure. And a new face might not be a bad thing. Someone who was not bound to the past or had been affected by the shed blood that tainted the Pridelands’ history. A clean slate.

Tama joined the assembled lions with a calm demeanour, mildly captivated by the sight of so many lions together. Was it the fertile lands or a strong leadership that had caused the pride to thrive in such a positive way - unlike the Outlands where she’d once lived? Tama didn’t know. But she hoped the little Prince would be able to carry the legacy that the great Kings of the past had bestowed upon him. All that was left was for a cloud to temporarily block the sun so that a single ray could shine upon the newly appointed Heir. But this was real and not a fairy tale and Tama almost laughed at her own childish thoughts, knowing how unlikely it was for such a thing to happen. Some of the lions around could actually use a blunt sign from the Heavens from what she could see.

Magh’ma joined the crowd like a princess, her head held high and her fiery coat causing a great number of heads to turn in her direction. She pretended not to notice the attention but secretly the huntress was pleased by what she considered an appropriate reaction. And Heir, huh? Well, the attention hadn’t lasted long as many lions now watched the small shape in the distance and whispered their approval and disapproval quietly or loudly. Magh wasn’t sure how she felt about it, really. It was something she would have to digest before making a decision but right now there seemed to be reason for relief. If the King’s injuries became any worse, at least the pride’s future was secure.

“Doesn’t look like much of a King now, does he?” she chuckled good-naturedly.

Anjelle smiled. She supposed this guy was right. What could the cub really do? Who knew what he had seen, and could share with them when he was old enough. The idea almost thrilled her, but she knew that would still be too long away before it would be much to be excited over. So she just smiled, nodding her head as she looked at Soren.. Somehow, she wasn't sure she really cared too much about the talk of the heir anymore.

"I like you Soren!" She said, chuckling a bit. Of course she hadn't meant it like -that- she didn't know the guy! But he was friendly, and she always liked meeting new people.

She was happy though, that Orlan wasn't like her sister.. She was a bit easier to be around sometimes.

Illyeria groaned, but knew if her mother had been there, she would have popped her on the head for her lack of manners. Momma was a good mom.. Though she hadn't seen Bahari in some time. The split with her and their father had been a lot to take in, and she had taken to hiding for a bit. Illyeria wasn't entirely sure she blamed her.

"Yes, yes I am Illyeria. Sorry, many pressing things on my mind." She said, clearing her throat before arching an eyebrow at Shumu.

"You need to come around more often. No one seems to understand me the way you do, and I'm tired of explaining myself." She said, feigning exasperation.

"Will you ever say anything to me, brave lion? Or even tell me your name? Perhaps motion with your paws? Do you hear me, or can you not speak? Why are you following me? Why did you protect me, and save me?"

He had been her guardian, but she had never asked for one. did not really think she was worthy of one. And, really, it was a little creepy that this lion and swung out of no where to start acting as her guard when she did not even know him. In a way, she should have been insulted, because he was insinuating that with her recently injured leg she was not going to be able to care for herself.

True enough, he had found her when she was starving for that exact reason, but... that hardly felt relevant.

She was getting better at walking, and was sure she could hunt small game without his help. He just did not give her the chance: he was always on top of the hunting, though she had never seen him hunt. She wondered vaguely if she had ended up in this place because she wanted to be here, or if he had somehow been leading her here.

To protect her further?

She huffed as Zengea remained silent, swishing her tail and walking by him, limping as she went. He did not seem to be watching her, staring over the pride, taking stock and keeping whatever thoughts he had, if he had any, to himself. She thought she could do the same. If he was not going to talk to her then why should she waste her breath? Maybe someone in this pride wanted to talk. Emboldened solely by her need to prove to him that she was fine without him, and not fussed by him, Jamii padded toward the first batch of lions she saw. There was two, and a cub, and she felt like they might be friendly enough to say hi to.

She slowed as she approached, becoming nervous as she got closer. She was a stranger here. Was she supposed to just walk in? And there was some sort event going on right here...

She cleared her throat feebly.

"I... uhm... H-hello," she managed, though her voice was so light, they might not have heard her. Behind her, Zengea stood. That was it. He did not move toward her, and his eyes were still listing over the crowd, one face to the next, taking in the number of lions and their different emotions, as if searching for any potential enemies and, more importantly, if he could defeat them were they to fight.

Jicho smiled and nodded her head, thanking the other for her words. It was nice to think that they would be welcomed here, that it was open and accepting, though she did fear that maybe they did not know why she had been driven out of her last pride, and might feel the same way. Except, she had no real idea why she had been branded an outcast, so it was not like she could really warn them.

Nor could she blame them if they did decide to throw her out. Whatever it was hanging over her head, it had to be big, and important, for though she did not know what it was it had a very large impact on her life so far. She just hoped that here it would not follow her, and take her from yet another chance to find a home.

Rekhet, for his part, was not worried about being accepted. He was worried about breaking their rules and not following their protocols. He would join by the rules, and follow the guidelines of the pride, and serve those that needed to be served. But he was not going to go out of his way to make friends: he did not really know what those were, or why they might be important.

He, of course, did not apply these thoughts to the lioness beside him. Whatever she was, she was a constant in his life, whether that made her a friend or not. A companion, or a partner, or whatever it was, she was basically a given part of his day now, and he factored her into his day to day. So he was making plans for joining this place and doing his duty, but she was never too far from his thoughts on the subject. He was loyal, and though he did not know feelings or really understand them, he was going to be there for her.

But he would not be much else, and even she was beginning to see that. He spent his days with her, but he was never really with her. Not connected in the way she might have wanted. He had his own thoughts, and maybe needed someone stronger, braver, to make him see there was more to life than just working and serving.

"It's very nice to meet you, Calypso," Jicho said, smiling shakily. She was still nervous but glad not to be running away for her life, at least "I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us. It looks like this gathering is much more important than a couple wanderers."

As the congregation grew, Calypso found herself looking out over the sea of faces with a look of awe. She had known that there were many lions in the pride, but never this many! And they were all here for the presentation of one lion. The lioness hadn't seen that amount of dedication since she had been a soldier, on the edge of a war in her birth pride.

Still, whatever feeling she had upon seeing the display, it didn't have the effect that this lioness' smile did. Timid though it was, the action at least showed that she was comfortable enough in Calypso's company to do it. "The declaration of an heir is always important, but one life is not more important than another. At least, that's how I see things." She shifted her paws so that she could sit. "Besides, there are plenty enough souls here to sing his praises, and not enough to welcome new blood."

Still, even as she said that, she could hear the discontent, and it annoyed her like no other. The little Prince hadn't been here for long at all, and they were already unhappy with him, for no good reason at all!

Xho giggled softly with a sweet smile when Shangwe didn't mock her but instead agreed with her. "Oh I am sure we will be able to meet and talk with him sometime! I mean, yes it's a big pride, but if he is going to be our leader, well he kinda needs to know who we all are doesn't he?"

It was a little odd to hear such a concept boiled down into something so simple and refined, but out of the mouths of babes. She leaned her head down to nuzzle Sungura too because she was just that affectionate. "We will all make him feel welcomed and loved, then he will know how glad we are to have him here!"

Y-you shouldn't say that, they were kind enough to let us stay after all. It's just.. it's the way of things here. Having lived as a rogue all her life, Chai wasn't entirely sure what to make of the Pridelands at times, the roles and concepts were often new and unfamiliar to her, but as of yet hadn't been unwelcome. She hoped Rin, being a particularly critical creature at times and not at all shy about sharing her opinion, could understand what it meant to her to accept this pride as it was without being overly critical. Casting a ginger glance towards the tan lioness who had struck up a conversation with them out during the proceedings, her smile was fragile. Rin means well, but we're not accustomed to living under rulers.. or.. or in such a carefully maintained group. You all must care a lot about each other.

----------------------

There was something just a little unusual about this female, well other than the fact that she was clearly an outsider. She seemed too sweet, too naive, too young and there was another thing about her--as if Kiboko had seen her before--an eerie feeling that made her fur prickle along her spine. Like seeing a ghost. Heh, with thoughts like that maybe she would have been better off in the Kizingo with the crazies. Inwardly chuckling at the thought, the plump female gave a leisurely roll of her shoulders. No harm, no foul. I have to admit, drama still happens occasionally--it's hard to prevent when deciding who the next ruler will be becomes a family affair. Luckily nothing like that's happened since I've been alive, though we may see it yet considering the look of this crowd.

Scanning the numerous unhappy faces Kiboko was glad to be a neutral party in the ordeal, tipping another off-pawed glance towards the pale, wing-backed female. Do I know you from somewhere?

----------------------

I didn't mean this pride specifically! Rin huffed, flaring her wings in indignation at the nervous tone that crept into her companion's voice, as if she feared the hawk would get her kicked out of these plentiful lands. Rin was hardly so selfish and truthfully, getting them kicked out would have benefited her no more than it did Chai so she had no avid desire to make enemies here. It was just a general observation!

With a look that dared the other lioness to challenge her frank statement, Rin paced up and down the length of the pacifistic big cat's back, quietly observing the rest of the gathering. Part of her kept watch for Dooley and Wessex, but part of her strained to listen to the conversations to understand the thoughts of these unfamiliar predators as they absorbed what she assumed to be a rather pertinent announcement.

The male let go of the tail in surprise at his sister. She was fast but not fast enough. It took a moment for Kyohaku to come up with something clever to say.

"I guess YOU'RE the one thats not fast enough," He smirked. It wasn't one of his best but he'd tried to at least have something to say. Actually now that he thought about it that was a terrible come back and what exactly was he coming back from? The cubs eyes were now upon his sister now and he playfully launched him self at her.

The lioness shrugged her shoulders.

"For all we know he could be a terrible king ," There was a teasing smile on her maw, "But he could also be pretty great. We don't know yet. I suppose the same could be said about any lion taking the role."

Still he had some pretty good fears. Though change never scared Yakujo she could understand that to others that the fear their traditions and way of life might drastically be changed for ever from here on was a pretty good fear to have. She wished she knew what that felt like. This was her home now but if she needed to Yakujo never had any trouble up rooting her self and roaming else where. The same was not true for every lion. Her ears fell back as she really took in his concern. It was deeper than the fact that this lion was a bit of an outsider too. He was young and a child.

She wasn't sure what to say to reassure him when it was completely uncertain.

Kwende might’ve been thinking about leaving now that the announcement was over but he was quick to change gears once a pretty lioness approached them. He didn’t think he’d ever seen her before but it wasn’t unusual for new members to join the Pridelands.

“Hello! I haven’t seen you around. Are you new?” he offered her a wide smile. Her limp didn’t go unnoticed and because the red-maned lion had never been particularly discreet or sensitive to the private affairs of others, he immediately decided to inquire about it. “I’m Kwende, a hunter. Are you alright? Hunting accident?”

-----------------------------------

“I can see Maral from here. I’m going to talk to him… oh, hello.” He smiled at the pale lioness, his gaze lingering briefly on her striking eyes before he looked down at his cub. He would probably want to stay and talk to the stranger.

“Koru, I’m going to go to your uncle Maral. Do you want to come with me or…?” The cub’s silent answer was obvious and Mheetu looked at his younger brother. “Kwende, take care of…” Oh, who was he kidding?! “Koru, take care of your uncle. Don’t leave his side.”

“I’m sorry, I must go. Welcome to the pride.” He nodded at the lioness, hoping she hadn’t been in the pride long enough for his greeting to seem rude and without even noticing the lion behind her, the Scout trotted over to his litter brother. Shaking his head slightly at Kwende’s lack of tact, he also noticed that Dayo, one of his younger sisters, was pretty close to his location.

“Hey Maral, I haven’t seen you in a while. Sorry for interrupting.” There was a considerable group around his brother and Mheetu gave them a little nod. As a cub he wouldn’t have dare to approach a large group and simply start talking but he was all grown up and a father now. He’d stopped backing away from things long ago. “I’ve been so busy with the cubs. I actually left one of my sons with Kwende, may the gods forgive me.”

--------------------------------------

Koru pouted a little, not pleased that his father had ignored his last question but quickly brightening up when a lioness approached them. From what the adults were saying, she had come from the outside, the mysterious lands beyond the border. It was a rather exciting notion.

“Hi! I’m Koru. Did you come from the outside? Have you ever seen a giant hippo?” To be honest, the young blue-eyed cub didn’t think the pale lioness looked much like an outsider. She looked more like a pridelander than many of the lions that had been born in the pride but that didn’t make her any less interesting as far as he was concerned.

Sitare offered Usiku a friendly smile, "You don't seem so shy to me. You did just chase me until I stopped afterall." Sitare's tail swatted back and forth in happiness as the conversation went on.

"Well ... I guess it can be a little weird to be watched sometimes. Especially by the nannies! Its like they have eyes in the back of their heads or something. At least, I think my Nanny does." Sitare shrugged his shoulders as he glanced around once again, to make sure no one was out looking for him.

"I bet she's out there looking for me right now.."

Kanata squawked in shock as a stray branch almost knocked her down. "That certainly would have been very painful." She had yet to come across the parents but she wasn't going to give up quite yet. There was still time before the start of the ceremony.

Rinji looked around frantically. His normally well kept appearance disheveled and crazy, "They couldn't have gotten far! Hopefully there will be someone who can watch them and keep them safe." He anxiously looked at his mate before calling all of their cubs names.

Pandra blinked before letting out a startled sound, "Oh sorry I didn't see you." The male certainly had a nice bright blue mane, it was almost the colour of the sky. Pandra looked back at the cub before turning back to look at the male. "Alright then have a nice rest and no problem." She grinned cheekily. "Most cubs do get underfoot, it must be their curious nature." She bowed her own head in farewell and watching him leave before once more focusing on the little ones.

shangwe laughed. "You know, I'm glad I met you, Xho," he told the female lightly, "I don't think I would have been able to relax this much if you hadn't been around." he smiled and watched as she cuddled with Sungura. The hare was very happy to oblige her, taking hold of her muzzle in a bunny-hug and lifting off the ground with her when she pulled her head away. He quickly climbed onto her head, before flattening out on top of her and giving the top of her head a cuddle.

'Yes! That's a brilliant idea, Xho! Then maybe he won't be so bothered by the ones who don't seem to like having him around!" He smiled and stayed on Xho's head, one content little hare.

"I hope no one takes things too far," Shangwe commented, looking around at the mass of lions around them. His thought changed just at the sight. "Wow! there's a lot of mouths to feed around here. No wonder it's so important to be a hunter!"

"I wonder," Rasha grunted, "maybe he won't be a very good king just because he's not got the feelings you get when you're born in the pride. Or maybe he'll be a good king, but no one will accept it and things will still go poorly. It seems like a lot of things might go wrong. More than might go right." But he did think it was silly to pretend to know what was going to happen in the future.

He sighed heavily, watching the female. It looked like she had a lot on her mind, as well. Maybe she was secretly worrying about things, too, she just wasn't letting it show. Some lions did like to hide their worried behind things like humor and smiles.

Luckily, he was not one of those lions, and much preferred being really dramatic about it for no reason. whoo?

"Well, I guess only time will tell," he said in an awkward attempt to try and comfort her. He didn't even know if she needed to be comforted, but eh, it helped him feel a bit better, too. Better than he had a moment ago.

"You said your name was Yakujo, right? I'm sorry about blowing up about it earlier. I think I don't know when to shut up about something, is all." He sighed, "I needed to talk to someone about it and you were the closest lion to me.. I didn't mean any harm."

Maswali was frantic, her eyes darting left and right as her feet tried to decide which direction to run towards. She kept catching sight of Rinji out of the corner of her eyes, he was just as scared as she was.

"We only looked away for a minute! Oh how could we have lost them in this crowd?" There wasn't much of anywhere to go, there were literally lions everywhere. Surely one of them would keep them safe, the pridelands was a very safe place, that was the only thing keeping her even slightly calm at this point.

"I hope you're right. Maybe Izzy will run into them and keep them under her paw until we can find them." A glance to her left and she could have sworn she'd seen one of her cubs.

"This way, I think I see Emrys."

"This is ridiculous," hissed Frigga, "how can so many lions be happy about what's happening? He doesn't belong here, much less does he deserve to be king!" She looked furious, but Nyamafu only met her rage with a shake of the head and a smile.

"You shouldn't say things like that!" She told her in a light-hearted tone, never really angry even when she wanted to be, "everyone deserves to be in this pride, no matter how or why they came to be here! This pride is open to all walks of life, and that's a very grand, special kind of thing. You shouldn't start saying that whole way of life is wrong just because of one new heir- how very rude!" She giggled lightly and Frigga scowled.

"Well, whatever," she snarled, "right or wrong for the rest of us, it's not right for the heir to be some outsider who wasn't even born here! He's supposed to know the pride better than any of us- how will he ever learn that kind of deep understanding? It's something you're born with!"

"You're silly," hummed Nyamafu, "look! Lionesses! Let's see what they think." She lightly bounced over to a thicker area of the group, just in time to hear what Magh'ma had to say. She laughed at the comment. "I think he'll grow into it," she replied with just as much good-nature, smiling brightly, "hello! I'm Nyamafu, and this is my bitter friend, Frigga." she looked at the more natural-colored lioness, who only glared at her in response. She looked at Magh'ma then, her expression not lightening.

'He's not much of a king," she agreed darkly, "and I doubt he ever will be!" She was not willing to relent her point- she did not think he deserved to be the new heir. Those who thought he did were just silly in the head!

Just like her gray friend.
