"It's me. But I thought you were only going to call me that to tease me," Nan replied, pulling his wing more tightly around the mare when she shivered. He folded that wing against his side when Adaeze got to her feet, shifting a little before hauling himself upright as well. He stumbled a little from the stiffness of his limbs and the unfamiliarity of controlling the body's movement, but he recovered before he fell or bumped into the mare. "Good... evening?" It definitely wasn't morning and 'good night' sounded too much like a farewell.

“Who ever said I stopped teasing you Nana?” She gave him a small grin. “And good evening your self. Welcome to the world of night where you’re as likely to freeze as you are to step on some nasty little stinging bugs. All the little critters come out to play when the sun goes down.” She never heard Nana’s fumbling stumble because she was busy listening to everything else in the desert around them. They were lucky they hadn’t been discovered while they slept. She was chastising herself for falling asleep. “mm You know I’m not really sure if there is a safe way out of these lands?” It was a question even if she didn’t mean it to be. Just another thing she had to ask Nan since she didn’t know.

Nan chuckled, which evolved into laughter as Ada's amusing commentary continued. He blinked at her half-question, however, and thought about it seriously. "There's several, actually. However, many are not possible without a substantial amount of magic." He shrugged. "Those that don't mostly call for caution. ... Being with a demon lord with a milder alter-ego doesn't hurt either." The stallion stretched, wings unfurling as far as they could go before neatly tucking themselves against his sides once more. "Traveling at night is generally a good idea, as the Azrein threat levels drop considerably." Cracking a smile, Nan added, "Even if it means dealing with all the littler critters that come out after sundown."

Magic? Well there was something that she wasn’t able to work with. She was about as magical as a rock at the bottom of a well. Caution she had but might be hard not to look like a target with her mask. She heard his wings unfurl and curl back up and wondered just what it felt like to have wings. Though flying blind might be a bad combination so daydreaming of such a thing seemed rather pointless. Night was her friend since she didn’t’ need to see to travel anyway. “Little critters that might not play nice?” She had been bitten enough times to know that not all the small things that bumped in the night were really sweet and cuddly. Sighing she shook her head. This had been a fruitless endeavor she didn’t’ even find out anything about Iota really.

"That's right. At least the poisonous ones aren't out and about." The scorpions were one of the few creatures that didn't seem very fazed by the intense heat of the day. He watched her sigh and shake her head. She looked rather down... "Don't be so glum." Teasingly, he added, "What's that phrase... um, the night is young and so are we?" He paused, contemplating what he'd just said a little. "Well, I'm probably not that young..." He was a demon, after all. Or at least, physically he was.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:09 pm

She turned her masked head toward Nana and chuckled. “You’re young enough if I’m responsible for helping you break free of Demoni. In fact I’d be much older than you in that case. And I feel it sometimes.” She tilted her head. “Don’t mind me I just wish I had something solid when it came to Io…Lacey. Like where she was or if she was ok. I came down her to find out all that and yet I feel I’m leaving with nothing, well except a friendship.” She grinned under her mask. “That’s not something to be scoffed at so you’re right I’ll cheer up. Promise.”

The demon blushed at that, grinning sheepishly. "That's true." Mentally speaking, Nanatsu was a much younger persona. Though he wasn't sure how he felt about her feeling older. At her admission of her disappointment in the matter of Lacey, Nan couldn't help stepping forward and gingerly nudging her. "It'll work out," he reassured her optimistically. "I'm sure I'll recall something." Though those memories would take some time to be found. At least, that's the impression he was getting. The memories of places and descriptions of Azrein were coming much more easily than personal memories of those Azrein.

He stepped back and relaxed a little at Adaeze's own reassurance that she'd cheer up, a warm feeling spreading through him. Friendship. "To be honest," he admitted, "This is the first time I've ever experienced real friendship." Even with Demoni... there was Ruin, but even that couldn't really be called friendship--even before they came mates. It was much too complicated. And everyone else, well... when it was the rule of the strongest, there were leaders and there were minions. Friendship wasn't part of the equation.

Ah she was trying to cheer up and ended up depressing him. She really sucked at this didn’t she? “I’m sure you will too.” His words on friendship made her realize just how much he missed out on having just been ‘born’ so recently. “Well friendship is something that is wonderful and can be treasured no matter what Nana.” She nudged him gently knowing that coming in contact with her mask might not be the best feeling in the world. “You know anytime you’re you and not Demoni I would be happy to see you. I’m from up north.” It was hard to really admit that knowing that any time later Demoni might be able to access those memories and perhaps find her and send other’s to ‘deal’ with her. She didn’t even know where she would be back up north so it wasn’t like she could give him specific information though, so that did make her feel a bit better. “Still if you’d like we could start heading away from the trap you said Demoni was leading me to. I know you wouldn’t be able to come up north with me right now since the other demons in Demoni’s family might miss you but I’d like to stay with you for as long as you’d like to or are able come with me.”

Nanatsu nodded to Adaeze's words on friendship, smiling at her offer of visiting her in the north when he was... well, himself and not Demoni. "I'd like that," he said softly with a grateful smile. He nodded to the suggestion to head away from the trap his dominant personality had set. He smiled again at her desire to stay with him. "That would be nice," he replied warmly. "I think if I'm with you, I can keep Demoni at bay longer." He wanted to spend more time with her, this mare who'd given him life. "I should have quite a bit of time before anyone comes looking for me. From what I've been able to gather from his memories so far, Demoni is prone to going on scouting trips and the like. I doubt my absence would be questioned for at least a week." As they walked towards safer territory, he added, "I probably can't go north with you, but I should be able to at least spend some time with you in the neutral lands." Nan didn't know how long this domination over Lord Demoni would last, but he wanted to make the most of it.

She smiled behind her mask. She couldn’t see what he was doing so she was glad he was so good about telling her how he felt about things. “Then you should stay with me for as long as you can. This way you’ll get a bit older and perhaps a bit stronger. There’s no reason not for you to have some adventure.” She liked the idea of being with him. “Go as far as you are able Nana.” She planned to keep with by his side and calling out his name as much as she could. It was a small way to prove that Nana was Nana not Demoni. She stayed close enough that she was brushing up beside him and didn’t know how long she would have him. It was strange to make a friend only to know that she would lose him. “Nana. Is there anything you want to see while you are you? I know on the way north there might not be much and I can’t really help you spot anything at all, but I wonder what you want to see or feel on the way.” She was gonna take the time to give Nana as much of the world just for him as she could.

Nanatsu nodded with an "Mm-hmm" so that Adaeze knew he agreed with what she'd said. After all, she couldn't see his nod with her mask on. Thoughts of adventure made him drift off into fantasies of exploring the Isle with Adaeze--and then into a happy life with her. He was glad she couldn't see him blushing as he shook himself from those thoughts. What was he thinking, involving the strong mare in his deluded fantasies? Just because she befriended him didn't mean she loved him...

But his quickly growing affections for Adaeze were difficult to ignore. His side felt tingly when she brushed against it and her voice saying her name--even if it was a teasing nickname--was music to his ears. He felt his heart swelling and the looming shadow of Demoni's return to dominance shrinking.

Nan withdrew from his thoughts as Adaeze spoke again. He smiled as he replied to her question. "Nothing in particular comes to mind, but I'd like to see and feel as much as I can." He wanted to travel with Adaeze until he no longer could. He, the mask of Demoni, was real to her. As long as he was with this amazing mare, he was happy...

“Well if you see anything interesting in our travels I might ask you to describe it to me Nana.” Her own family had done that from time to time since her sight was poor. She kept close to Nan brushing up against him to keep track of him. She figured traveling back up north would be much faster this time, but she really had no idea how long it would take. A few days? A month? Still at least she had company this time.

She was right traveling was both faster and more pleasant with Nana. She found that as long as she was by his side with his wing over her she could move much faster. She liked to lean on him a bit but perhaps that was because he was a gentle soul. After a day of traveling with him she decided she liked and wanted a part of Nan to continue on even if Demoni came back later. She just didn’t know how to breach the topic with him and was clearly deep in thought making her steps less careful than the day before. After nearly stumbling for the third time that day she began to feel frustrated.

What had been a single day of travel felt like both a blink of an eye and an eternity. Traveling with Adaeze was like heaven to Nanatsu. Just her presence next to him made him happy. Sometimes she would lean against him and his heart would melt and try to feed him fantasies of a life with her. He frequently described their surroundings to the mare, fascinated by his surroundings like a curious foal. The world seemed so shiny and new...

The second day, Adaeze tripped and stumbled several times. He frowned, a little worried by that. Even walking through the desert in the midday heat when they first met, she'd barely had any trouble... "Are you alright, Ada?" he asked after the third time, noting the hints of frustration on her face. "Should we take a break?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 03, 2014 8:03 am

The first question was met with a grunt the second she stopped and cursed the fact her mask was off. It would mean he could see her frown. “I’m fine. I was just thinking, and apparently I can’t think and place my hooves where they belong at the same time.” She took a deep sigh before shaking her head. “Yeah if it’s ok with you can we stop and talk. I’ve got something on my mind and I really don’t know what to do with it.” She was blunt and wasn’t the kind to beat around the bush to much so to try and bring the topic up sensibly was killing her. She waited for a moment for Nana to get comfortable. She kept herself standing so she could pace if she felt like it.

“The thing is you said yourself that you don’t know when Demoni is coming back and that sucks since it means you might be going, but I don’t want to lose you to him. You’re nice and good and there should be more Azerin like you in the world. I don’t want that part of you that’s you to disappear.”

Nan smiled in amusement. "They must be some very deep thoughts," he teased gently. He nodded to the suggestion to stop and talk about what was bothering her. He remained standing as well, wanting to remain at eye level with her.

He listened quietly to her concern, both flattered and sad that it was about him. "I see." He thought for a moment, then smiled sheepishly. "I guess it would be cheesy to say something like 'I will live on in your memory,' wouldn't it?" It wouldn't have been the first cheesy thing he'd said that Adaeze teased him about. "I wish things could just stay this way," he added softly as he stepped closer, lightly nosing her neck. He wished he could stay with Adaeze forever. He wanted to make her smile more, travel the Isle with her, just... spend time with her. He... he loved her. He wished that Demoni would sleep for an eternity and let him continue in this fantasy until their last breaths.

He pulled his nose away from her neck after a minute, not wanting to... well, embarrass the mare. She was more of the warrior type, after all, and he doubted his nuzzling would be very comfortable for her.
