The man with the torch dropped to his knees and spat blood. He was too weak now to get to his feet again but he did take a swipe at C'ross' legs with his torch.
The tall man meanwhile was still on his feet but just barely. Swaying and clearly having a hard time focusing he took a swipe at V'lay with his club. =============== 1d Torchman vs C'ross HP: 2/30 Damage taken: 4 + 4 + 5 + 5 = 18 Damage done: 3 + 2 = 5 d2Tallman vs V'lay HP: 1/30 Damage done: 1 + 2 = 3

V'lay - Attaking Tallman Bladed weapon bonus: +3 Hand-to-Hand bonus: 0 HP: 96/30 Initiative attack bonus: x2 Knifeman, Tallman (0/2 remain)
---
There wasn't much time. He had to strike while he had the chance - and V'lay did just that, lunging once more with his knife, aiming to strike at the tall man before he could attack anyone else. He moved into the swing of the club.
This time, when the tall man struck him, he felt something crunch, and the pain was intense. He wasn't sure if something was broken, or just fractured, or maybe he was really lucky and it was dislocated and not too bad...but he wasn't sure that was the case. Hissing, V'lay slumped back against a wall, closing his eyes and coughing against the thick, acrid smoke. Faranth, he hoped he was dead. The other one was dead, he thought. V'lay had certainly done his best to ensure that.
V'lay? V'lay!? Vinath's voice was frantic in his head, and V'lay took a deep breath, reaching out to his dragon with a faltering connection.
I'm okay. I'll survive. Just hurts, Vinath.
Get out of there! We need to see a healer!
Doing the best I can, big fella.

C'ross - Interrogating TorchMan Bluff modifier: +2 HP: 15/30 ---
V'lay struck true; the chances of the tall man still putting up a fight after that were slim.
A sharp searing pain across his legs let C'ross know that while the man with the torch was down, he wasn't out yet. Still, the man was spitting blood and on his knees. It would have been easy enough to finish him, but instead C'ross grabbed the man by the collar with both hands and shook him roughly.
"Give us one good reason not to end you, traitorous scum," he snarled in the man's face. Not the best threat he'd ever issued, but considering how badly the man was outnumbered, and the fact that the last of his buddies had just fallen...

Wen - Using Bandages on V'lay. +3 Hp?
Wen didn't drop his knife but instead cleaned it on his leg and took hold of the handle in his teeth as he pulled a roll of bandages from his bag. He did a little creative juggling, not trusting for there not to be surprises. "Here, umm.. " One roll wasn't going to do a lot of good but it wasn't like bandages would help a poisoned Cai.
"I don't know where to start."

S'lin: Watching Torchman to see if he speaks truthfully HP: 21/30 Resources Held: 12/20 Lying bonus: +2
S'lin saw the tall man get attacked once more when it already looked like he could barely stand, so she let him be. When C'ross grabbed the man with the torch to try questioning him, she moved to stand next to him with her knife handy, ready to offer support. She also watched the man closely to gauge his reaction. She'd done very well in both learning to tell a convincing lie and learning to tell when others were lying, so she watched the man to judge if anything he said might be truthful.

((Rolling - Torchman vs C'ross. Success, he doesn't give away important facts.)) --------- Breathing hard the man with the torch gave a weak laugh and shook his head. "Idiot rider," he panted, "you'll be... you'll all be taken soon. Reason not to kill me? If you do it'll go harder for you. Much harder."
Even as the tall man collapsed into a motionless heap it became apparent that his companion wasn't bluffing. A great bellow rang through the marble halls and a moment later a bronze wher appeared around the corner... and another, and then a brown, and a green, and there were shouts from behind them. The small group of rider loyalists didn't stand a chance against the oncoming force; their only choices were to flee, or to stand in defiance and face capture or worse. Instructions- Run awaaaaaay! Roll 1d100 and get 65 or higher to escape. If you roll lower you are surrounded by the wherholders and captured. Anyone who has posted during the course of this RP and fails to roll is also captured. You have 12 hours to roll!

Well. Time to run.
C'ross didn't waste any time. As soon as he spotted that bronze wher he was dropping the man and bolting.
"C'mon, Nim!"
But what about -
No time! Those who fall behind stay behind! We'll get the chance to rescue them later if we have to.
Nimith ran at his heels until the infant blue's endurance failed, and then C'ross scooped him up into his arms and kept running. It was a close call - several times they were nearly cornered by hostile forces on all sides, but each time either C'ross or Nimith would see a new passageway to dart down and continue fleeing. At last they broke out into open air, and vanished into the dark as if they had never been there at all.

Cai - Fleeing HP: 20 ATK: 1d4 Dodge: 1d10 Hand to Hand:-1 Human to Creature: +1 Group: -1 Resources Held: 4/20
Mia. Miath! Calm down. The fighting's over. Cai wanted so badly to lean against the cool stone walls but there was smoke, and the sounds of approach. With three injured or possibly dead at their feet, Cai wasn't optimistic on their chances if caught. Stay out of sight. We're on our way out. Don't. Make. A. Noise. She braced herself against the wall with one hand and used it as a guide in the unfamiliar tunnels. "Wen! Let's Go!" She hissed, hoping where ever he was he'd hear her.

V'lay - Caught
Someone was trying to bandage him.
V'lay realized it and actually laughed quietly, twisting around to look up at Wen. "I appreciate the sentiment," he began, but before he could say anything about the fact that his wounds weren't the sort that could be easily repaired by twisting fabric around them, a bellow rang out in the halls. "Faranth - run," he snapped at Wen, looking in the direction of the man holding the torch. He was slumped down, now, and V'lay was in almost as sorry a state. He wasn't going to hold out much longer. "Just get out of here," he said, and he shook his head.
He got to his feet unsteadily, growling in pain as the room spun unsteadily. Faranth, he wasn't doing well.
V'lay?
I'll be with you in a moment, Vinath. But there was no real conviction in the words. Can you get to safety?
I'm not leaving you alone!
Not sure we have a choice.
V'lay stumbled, slumping against a wall and clutching his side. This was not, he realized now, been in his best interest. If he surrendered, he wondered, would they hurt Vinath? Would his dragon be killed anyway? He had no real idea what he was doing.
At least that young man had made it out all right.

Rochelle
After the stint in the bastion over a turn ago, she'd not become very fond of whers. Maybe a few but when the bronze and others arrived, rochelle decided she ******** hated them. She backed off a few steps before she turned on her heels and ran.
Not quite quickly enough it seemed. A wherhandler appeared as if out of nowhere, a snarl on his face. Rochelle kicked at him but then another came and another then a punch to the back of her head.
Stay away! was all she could manage to Kibeth before passing out. The crimson screamed her rage, turning her thoughts to Malcarreth, perhaps too far from him to be heard but trying never the less.
They have her!
-----
K'yne and Psaumith
"Run!"
You aren't going to even carry me?! Nimith's is carrying him!
"You're huge and so is C'ross so sharding run!." K'yne tugged at his dragon and... well, they ran.
-----
Siata
"If it isn't the little traitor," Said a voice to Siata's right, nasty and low. She spun around to see an old friend, a lover once, thin and deadly with her green wher at her side. The usually sweet wher spit and snarled, bristling. The woman had a knife. "Your Siask ripped down my weyrmate."
"Your weyrmate tried to kill me," Siata shot back, her hands patting down her own side for a weapon - any weapon - and attempting to ignore the roaring of Siask in her head. She shook it off, or tried, when someone at Trine grabbed her one eyed boy and shoved a muzzle on him, a chain to keep him from mauling again. "Shaff you in the tailfork, you bi--"
A large man tackled her from behind with a cry, slamming the wherhandler to the ground. Muscular and used to wrestling or not, Siata had been caught off guard. She kicked him off, punched him in the face until he fell lifeless to the ground, but then that snarling green jumped, other wherhandlers surrounding, and Siata saw black when claws dug deep into her chest.

Wen - Caught
He felt himself flush, standing there with rolls of bandages and unable to figure out what to do. Then the roars started and he really remembered why he hated whers. They could attack and harm people. He left the clumsy tied bandaged and drew the rest of his knives, positioning them to be thrown.
'Rynsemth, go with Cai and Miath.' He said calmly, holding a knife at ready.
'Go,' he ordered.

S'lin - caught
When S'lin heard the whers bellow, she hesitated for just a moment. Where where they coming from? It was hard to tell in the smoke. By the time she figured out, they rounded the corner and came into sight. Far too close, time to go. She turned and ran, trying to head for the exit. She grew up in Malvren, surely she could find her way out, right?
Apparently not. she got turned around far to easily in the noise and smoke, and when she turned a corner she thought was safe, she ended up at a dead end. She turned around to find another way and nearly ran straight into a green wher. She backed up, knife at the ready, but had little hope that she could fend the beat off.
This did not look good.

D'lin - Captured
D'lin hadn't liked this mission from the start and things seemed to go from bad to worse as it went on. In the end however there was only so bad it could get and it looked like they had managed to hit that Rock bottom. D'lin watched the flood of Whers and handlers coming towards them and knew that there was no hope. Running into the tunnels was pointless..he didn't know the way through the maze and the whers would sniff him out in a second..besides it sounded as thought there were more of them converging from the side tunnels.
Seeing no point in expending energy in trying to flee..or even fighting and getting himself wounded he turned his mind to other matter's. Not even seeming to notice when a burly wherhandler slammed him roughly against the wall and began to truss him up.
'Go Plex! Go home and tell Cepheith..or Sunnath what happened..and Ceta..tell Haliti..'
'No! I'm not leaving you!' The bronze broke in, roaring his fury at the treatment of his rider. 'I will not!' He insisted with an edge of panic in his voice.
'You must, you can't help me Plexith. Go home Plex! GO!' D'lin demanded, putting as much force of will into the command as he could muster. The burly wherhandler bound him tightly and cast him roughly to the ground when he was done. It knocked the air from his lungs though he tried to keep his focus on his dragon. 'Please...Tell Ceta.."
Plexith seemed to sense his riders resolve...or perhaps he grasped the truth of the situation and with a wail of despair he shot into the air. Keening shrilly as he did so. 'I will ...I go to Trine but no distance can separate us truly.' He promised before flickering between as D'lin was hauled away.

N'mol
N'mol cursed loudly as he glanced back and saw D'lin ringed in by wherhandlers. Anger and frightened pain in his face, he turned back and urged on those near him who had managed to make it far enough away that they avoided their pursuers.
"Go! Go!" When Cetalese, D'lin's weyrmate, stopped, he grabbed her upper arm. "You can't help him if you're captured, too. Move!"
