Aponi had not gone to bed yet and was unable to sleep. the story so far weighed on her mind and she had thought of an answer to the Jinn's questions and decided to get the thoughts off her mind befor they disappeared.

"On the night of the ball, Marvin showed up wearing a tuxedo. He sought out Susanna's mistress to thank her for the invitation to such a wonderful ball. It was something he had never been too and took in all the sights around him. While Marvin was at a table that had a spread of hors d'œuvres on it, a slender woman in a blue and gold gown and a corset to match walked up to him. She introduced herself as Maria Grey.

Lady Grey spoke to Marvin for a short bit and realized it was he that she was looking for. As it turned out, when Marvin and come into is abilities he was not very confident and failed numerous times before gaining a firm hold on his talent. Lady Grey was one of his very first clients and Marvin failed to find her missing necklace. She had paid him in advance and spent most of the money to help buy food for his mother and himself. Now Lady Grey wanted her money back, all of it. Marvin explained that he couldn't pay her because he had no money to give her. Maria was furious and want him to pay for stealing from her."

Aurora liked telling everyone about Marvin, and was happy that the genie seemed to like her story. Marvin was a really cool guy! And so Aurora continued the story, making sure to speak equally to the other Medaria as well as the genie.

"Marvin was really nervous about attending the ball. He wasn't really used to doing 'grown-up' things, and this was most definitely one of those things. But he stifled the butterflies in his stomach, and walked through the open doors of the mansion.

There was a big group of people in the foyer, all seeming to talk to one person in particular, whom he could not yet see. He made his way to the middle of the group, and found that the person in the middle was none other than his friend Hubert!

Hubert and Marvin had been friends for a very long time, or at least comparatively - they were still very young, after all! But since Marvin started finding things for people, he hadn't seen Hubert lately. All the better, then, that he should be at the ball as well! But as Marvin approached him, he sensed that something was off about his friend. 'Oh, Marvin,' said Hubert, with a slight scowl, 'You've arrived. I'm sorry to say, there's nothing left for you to do here - nobody needs you now that I'm here, and can find anything that anyone has ever lost. Even faster than you can, in fact. So, yeah, see you later, buddy.' Marvin stood still, dazed, as people began to fill in front of him once more to surround his best friend Hubert."

Daja mused for a moment at the genie's next questions, before smiling.

"Ah, the person seeking revenge...There was another nobleman who felt wronged by the mistress of the party.

breaking for rolling sake
He claimed she had stolen a grand fortune from him, and wanted to regain it, and only needed one of the heirlooms of his family to prove it! Alas, he did not know where it had gone off to, and with ill intentions, Marvin's special ability caught his eye..."

Story Thus Far. . .

I knew a boy, once... His name was Marvin, and he could always find things for me when I needed them, even when nobody else could. It was like they would call out to him from wherever they were, or maybe like he could tell where things would be from being able to see right through the person who lost them. I'm not sure. But it was definitely a talent! (Bunna)

Well, one time, Marvin just came across something and he didn't know who it belonged to. Usually his talent worked the other way around! So he tried to think of it in terms of a thing that had lost its person. He thought about what kind of person would have left their planner near a playground in the first place, and he looked at the next event scheduled in the planner. (Bunna)

It turned out it belonged to a young girl, named Susanna (Gwen), who was a servant. She had told her mistress of his tales and a few days later, an invitation to a ball came. He was unsure of how it would go, but attended. (Kanna)

Aurora was so pleased that everyone liked hearing about Marvin that she woke up early the next day to continue her tale. (Even though she was named after the dawn, Aurora wasn't one for early rising.) She walked in circles in the center of the room, swishing her ears and tail around as she continued the story.

"Marvin felt out of place for the rest of the party. He found a few things for people who didn't want to wait in Hubert's huge line, but other than that, there wasn't much for him to do. That is, until people started to return to Hubert, telling him that the things they were missing weren't where he told them they were after all! Marvin helped people as best he could, but finding so many things at once was really exhausting. The party started to wind down, and Hubert was nowhere to be found. Marvin finally made it to his last client of the night - a boy around his own age, who had somehow managed to grow a mustache. He had lost his friend, he said, and he needed Marvin to personally accompany him on the search for his friend, um, Barvin. He would throw in a packet of Pop Rocks to sweeten the deal. Marvin was completely unable to resist the sweet popping of Pop Rocks, and so he followed the mustachioed boy out the front door.

Marvin was surprised to find himself in his and Hubert's old treehouse. It was a secret location that only he and Hubert had known about, though it had been a while since their secret club had held its secret meetings there. Marvin began to suspect that this fine-featured client was not a client after all! He made a lunge for the treehouse door, but at the same time, he saw that precious packet of Pop Rocks fly in the opposite direction. Without fully realizing what he was doing, he pulled a midair 180 and followed suit. He caught the Pop Rocks in his mouth and landed very ungracefully against the tree trunk in the corner of the room. At that moment, he heard a bolt slide into place - since when did their secret clubhouse have a lock on the door?!"

Aponi was feeling a bit down and felt as if her story was not that good but kept trying to impress the jinn.

"Marvin started to feel exhausted after the first five people who asked for his assistance. Using his ability took a toll on him and with out a break would wear him down. Guests kept on coming and continued to seek his help. When he went for some water he was stopped by more people. about an hour or so later he had found the missing items and the moments the lights went out, Marvin collapsed. Not from exhaustion, but because Hubert whacked him on the back of the head with a silver tray.

When Marvin came to, he found himself chained to a wall in a dark cave whose only source of light was a torch on the walls near the entrance and a fire pit in the back by where he was chained up. Marvin yanked on the chains as he tried to free himself. Marvin looked around and recognized the cave as their childhood hideaway, a place they went to play and get away from reality. It was where Marvin discovered his ability to find things. He wondered why his friend would chain him up to begin with and why this cave of all places."

Aurora had been busy chasing a reflection of light from one of the genie's earrings, and didn't realize how close she had come to missing her chance to continue Marvin's tale! Her paws closed over the spot of light just as the light source disappeared, which was as good a victory as anything, she supposed.

"A-hem," she started, settling into an authoritative sitting position, "as I was saying." (She then pulled a face for the briefest of moments before continuing.)

"Hubert had Marvin trapped in their treehouse, sure as anything. There may have been windows to climb out of, but really - who does that? So Marvin stayed to hear Hubert's evil villain speech all the way through, cackles and all. By the time Hubert had finally finished detailing his immense suffering and loneliness at the hands of his erstwhile best friend, Marvin had made it through most of the Pop Rocks. There was just one handful left. Without thinking, Marvin extended the jar to Hubert. Before realizing what he was doing, Hubert reached into the jar and jammed the rest of the Pop Rocks in his mouth.

Marvin realized that what he had just done was nothing short of ingenious. Hubert was one of those people who could not bear to open their mouth until the last Pop Rock had popped its final pop. He could now filibuster Hubert to his own heart's content, for the last handful of Pop Rocks had been a rather large one. Perhaps an hour passed, and maybe half an hour more, just to make sure there were no pops left that could possibly pop. By this point in time, it was very late at night. Hubert stopped Marvin midsentence and said, 'Dude, seriously, I'm tired. I'm going home. Tomorrow, same place, same time?'

'Yeah, sure,' said Marvin, 'but can we be done with this whole 'archenemies' thing? It's getting a little old.'

'Only if you bring more Pop Rocks,' Hubert said with a smirk as he slipped through the door.'

'Sure,' said Marvin. Then it hit him: 'Hey, but you ate the last handful!' But there was nobody there to hear his cry."
