The end was in sight! He tried to sally forth a bit more effort and muster just a bit more speed to try and put himself at the front of the racers.

More speed! Yes! But he knew it still probably wasn't enough for a miracle. But still he ran, rearing to finish at least this one thing.

And then a fall! Poor Charcoal winced as the paw that had bent smarted upon standing. But the race was nearly over. He would see the finish line. He limped slightly towards it.

Charcoal limped and stumbled over the finish line and then went off to rest. He knew he's preformed poorly. This would not receive him the recognition he'd wanted. She'd he rest and wait for the next race. They'd promised five.

What was all this hubub, then? A race? Typical of fall, just before the coming winter and the rusty furred rabbit would not let a chance to run pass her by. She enjoyed such activities and the winter months would be long and cold. She'd stick out like a sore paw, being so dark in colour. Eagerly, the young doe stretched, made a mental note of the rules, and dashed off from the start line. 1/10

Sparrow had never really thought about becoming a runner before, but he was a gregarious social butterfly and loved to compete. Any event where he could show off a little was welcome; and if he failed miserably, he could always laugh it off as having entered for a joke.

It wasn't the strongest start, but who could blame him? He just happened to start next to a gorgeous doe on either side of him! With a view like that, why would anybody ever want to run away? Roll 2/10 Previous Total: 4

Well, so much for a strong start. The doe tripped over an upturned clump of earth. She should have been watching where she was going! 3/10

Feverfew managed to pick the pace back up, some, even if she didn't completely regain her earlier speed. Her nose smarted from her little stumble and dirt-eating experience.
