Perhaps his vision wasn't the only thing that was weak right now. Shun never heard the water despite having tried to listen most of the time. This didn't make him feel particularly good. Though, he paused as she was suddenly right up in his face, grimacing at her words. He might have muttered a curse under his breath while walking along with the stranger. When she stopped, he did as well. Finally, he could hear the sound of water.
Nice knowing it was there before stepping into it for once.
And thus he followed her once more.

They walked off in silence for a while, until they reached the exact spot where Shun had killed the snake. She bent down and sniffed at the ground, before sniffing at Shun. "Huh." She huffed out, then let go of his hand.
"Okay, tough guy. So now that you know how to survive, where do you think we should go?"

That 'huh' made him wonder if she really knew where she was going. Since she was handing the reigns over to him now, Shun closed his eye again. There was water again nearby. He continued to listen as carefully as he could.
"Not that way for sure.." he murmured before turning and beginning to walk. After each step, he paused to continue listening.

The ghoul followed close nearby, and when they stopped, she nodded. "Nice job, slick. Or maybe you're just lucky, we didn't walk by any nasties. Let me see you do it again." She reached out with one hand, putting it on his back so she wouldn't lose him.

The reaper took in a deep breath, dismissing what the stranger said. He was trying to focus on his surroundings. In a sense, Shun was working on clearing his mind as much as he could on the spot. Perhaps then he would pick up on any changes around him.
Again, he listened, stopping after each step he took to 'recalibrate' himself or so to speak.

He was doing pretty well. She was just about to admit that, when she heard a rustling nearby, and her hand left his back. She crouched, stopping - didn't he hear that?
...Of course he didn't, he was making too much noise himself. Her stick came out and smacked him right on the legs. "Stupid! Your feet are making too much noise! Stop moving before you attract a-"
Too late.
At Shun's last step, he found himself fighting another hissing snake. She considered fleeing and leaving the idiot to rot, but the ghoul started sniffing behind him.
"Wait a minute.."
She sniffed harder.
"Do you smell that?"
Even the snake stopped hissing for a minute.
"Is that.. fresh air?"
The ghoul hopped back up to her feet and took on a ready position. "I haven't smelled fresh air in four years! Boil, I think we're close to freedom! Nothing's going to stand in my way.. not this noisy boil, or this stupid-"
She bapped the snake over the head with her stick.
"-Snake!"

Shun let out a sharp hiss as she smacked him in the legs, glaring at her when she did so. After finally hearing the snake, he sniffed the air as she did. The exit was close. Again, he shot her a glare when she made a jab at him, then attempted to whip the snake... with his snake. Snake vs snake didn't really work out too well it turned out.

"Holy s**t."
The ghoul just stopped in dumbfounded shock.
"You suck."
The snake was less dumbfounded, as it bit Shun on the foot.

Shun let out a hiss from the snake biting him. The girl with him was getting on his nerves quite a bit too. After shooting her a glare, he stomped down onto the snake's backside before grabbing it behind the back and jerking upwards, breaking the back of this one as well.
With that done, he just tossed the two snake carcasses aside.
He had nothing to say to the stranger.

"Hey!"
She heard him heading off, and grabbed him to stop him. "Hey." She muttered, sounding guilty. "Look.. sorry. I haven't had anyone to talk to for years, except that jackdamned troll, okay? It's been rough. Just... sorry."
She let his arm go, and waited for him to take the lead again.
"Think you can find the exit using your sense of smell?"

"How did you get here in the first place?" he asked quietly. Had she been a pupil of Noland and got lost in the darkness? In any case, he was somewhat surprised and impressed that she managed to not dissipate and reform elsewhere if that were the case.
"If there's fresh air near, there should be a breeze," Shun stated. And so, he remained still, trying to see if he could feel a cool brush of wind or anything of the like.
Then, as quietly as he possibly could, he moved.

Shun had only taken one step when the ghoul grabbed him by the arm and stopped him. He'd waited for the breeze, and she'd felt it - but then he walked the opposite way.
She bit her tongue, trying not to call him a complete ******** up again.
"I was trying to learn how to be more stealthy. My whole family disappeared, and so I showed up at some dinky school at the outskirts of Halloweentown. They put me in here for training.. and I guess I failed. Or they forgot about me."
She nudged him, very gently, with her shoulder.
"Whatever the case may be, I really want out. So uh.."
Go that way, her nudge silently said.

"Well. You'll be getting out now," Shun murmured before glancing to her as she nudged him. The mention of a familial disappearance had him wondering if Hunters were involved. Then again, it could potentially be mob related too for that matter. He raised an eyebrow.
Ah.
Grimacing, he turned around and walked that way instead. Again. As quietly as he could.

Shun didn't go far. It only took one step before the fog of darkness lifted from his eyes, and he was treated to a vision of trees and soft moonlight. Soon after, the ghoul emerged from the darkness behind him, and kissed the ground beneath her.
"FINALLY!" She screamed, and rolled around on the ground, getting herself good and dirty. She laughed out loud into the wind, with a little madness in her cackle.
"Oh ho, so you finally made it out as well, did you?" The darkness snapped away, and shrunk smaller, and smaller still, until it was no more than the size of a person - or a hungry ghost, more specifically.
Noland's unsmiling face emerged from the blob of black, and he walked over to the two. His eyes rested on Shun for a moment, before looking at the ghoul rolling on the ground.
"Why.. I was wondering where you'd run off to! Have you been in there this entire time? Oh my.. how embarrassing! Oh well, I'm sure you've learned far more than you've ever dreamed-"
The ghoul stood up rather quickly, and shoved her stick through Noland's body. It sat there, stuck in the blackness, until the great maw in the middle opened and he slowly swallowed the stick whole.
"She even brought me a snack!" How delightful!" He gestured for Levi to come over to them, and spoke with great excitement. "So tell me, scarelings, what did you learn today?"

Finally he could see again. He was relieved, but it seemed that his acquaintance was completely overjoyed. A few years stuck in that probably would do that to someone. But, his suspicions that she was a pupil of Noland came to light as the hungry ghost spoke. Though, the way the darkness pulled into his figure had him suspicious that they had been inside of him this entire time.
Somehow.
He didn't know the physics of it nor did he care right about now.
"That I'm virtually useless in navigating without sight on my own," Shun muttered flatly. No, he still wasn't happy in how poorly he had performed. He didn't need to have it rubbed in his face by the stranger to know that much. He had enough disappointment without that.
Speaking of, he turned towards the woman and bowed, "Thank you, by the way."
She might have belittled him along the way, but she still helped him get out of there. Placing his hands into his pockets, he glanced away, awaiting to hear what both Noland and Levi had to say. Whatever the case was, he knew he needed to train more. Always.
