Ciel blinked a little at the sudden change in her surroundings. She had been looking for her kitty on the painting, but now it seemed she would be looking for it for real. She looked over the cliffs before her. Where would a fire tiger hide?

Uncertain of where to look, she found herself falling back to that old standby. "Here kitty kitty kitty...." she said as she walked among the short brush and large rocks.

Ugh! Failed Tame!

Ciel climbed over rocks, through thickets and briars, up and down the mountainside. No matter where she looked, she could not find any beasts! Frustrated, she sat down on a stony bank. "This is pointless!" she lamented, her voice echoing through the hills. It hid the soft cracking sound of earth giving way beneath her. The entire bank slid down the mountainside, taking the frightened Ciel with it.

Bruised, battered, and frustrated, Ciel just lay there amid the rubble until a pair of bright slitted eyes caught hers from the underbrush. "Kitty?" she asked. Before she could get up to investigate, it was gone.

None the less, Ciel went into the brush hoping to find her fire tiger. Instead she found everyone else's animal but hers. At least it seemed that way. Ever other student seemed to be gathering up their animals, but where was hers?

"This is not funny...", Ciel grumbled as she sat down in the shade of a windblown tree. From above she heard a soft cat-like cry. Looking up, there was her fire tiger!

"Kitty! You found me!" she said with a smile.

The fire tiger just stared at her from between the branches.

"Come on down! I want to see how you look!"

The fire tiger backed away into the leaves leaving only faint patches of warm-colored fur visible against the green.

"No, no, no!" Ciel cried in vain as she watched the last traces of fur disappear, "Jack-it. I give up. I'm not supposed to have an animal anyway." Ceil sighed, resigned, and began to tend her dirt-caked wounds as best as she could.

With most of the dirt removed from her flesh, Ciel then just rested against the tree trunk, staring at the sky. In the distance the other students were training their animals. In the distance they looked great and obedient. Ciel, however, was too tired and too hurt, both physically and emotionally, to try anymore. A stifled tear slipped down her cheek as she drifted off to sleep.

After a few hours, the fire tiger came back down and fell asleep near her feet, ignoring Ciel completely the entire time.

Lumi nodded as she listened to the instructor. Raising her hand she stood and bowed to them both before slowly walking out to think about what was told to her.

((wanted to finish that from yesterday))

Roch jerked as he found himself in the painting--at least, he thought he was. He looked down at his painted sleeve, cocking his head slightly as he poked it. Then he looked down from the mountain, staring over the land of the painting. Roch had spent many a day on a mountain, so he did the first logical thing--he turned, making sure there was no gigantic Teddy-Weddy behind him.

Then he heard the explanation and started down the mountain. What could he say, this was a hell of a lot easier with pants!

Tamed and Ready!

"Taaaakkkeee meeeee oonnnn," Roch sang cheerfully as he made his way down the mountain, dropping down from cliff to cliff much like a mountain goat. Sure it was taking a bit of time, he thought, but it always did. He hung from a ledge for a moment just to sing the ridiculously annoying part, "I'lllll beeeee goooonnneeee!! In a day orrr twoooo!!"

Yes, he was being a jackass, but seriously, Roch was in SUCH A GOOD MOOD. This was the first time during Conquest that he'd really been happy--and active. He wanted to make it last as long as he could! He wasn’t lost, he didn’t get stuck, he was just taking his time enjoying the trip. It was black and white, sure, but it was a hell of a lot more fun than walking around on the pavilion bridges all day. Those got really boring really fast.

He reached the field where the beasts were and saw a familiar body. “Hey buddy!” he called, startling the entire group--especially his own beast, into running. That... ah... might have been part of the plan, Roch thought, starting to chase after the beast in question. But it disappeared from sight--oh, how could he have lost his buddy like that? He grinned, keeping his back to the front of the painting and heading out to “find his lost buddy.”

The punk set out at an easy jog, enjoying the sensation of hunting--of just MOVING actually. The sight of beasts running past, the light breeze tugging at his mohawk, and most importantly, the sensation of DOING something had the punk boil happily racing through the field until he caught sight of his beast again. This time he snuck towards him, summoning his guitar. But right before he could whack the beast, it turned, jumping him--

He didn’t remember it being this big, he thought as the beast and he crashed to the floor. The struggled, shoving at each other, trying to get on top. The beast was blobby, so it sort of enveloped him in ink, making it harder for Roch to move. But it was those eyes that had the boil’s attention, gleaming wickedly at him--showing that he was enjoying this fight as much as Roch was.

Finally, after a long time of rolling around in the grass, Roch pinned the ink blob down, grinning widely. “Give, buddy, you’re mine,” he said. He knew he’d won when the blob relaxed, letting out a purring sound. “There we go,” he said, dropping down in the grass next to him--and promptly getting laid on. “Jack, boil, you weigh a TON!” he complained, laughing as he tried to push his new “buddy” off of his lap.

And then he was standing in the classroom, blobless. “Damn,” he muttered. He wasn’t very happy about being back, honestly. But at least he’d had some fun in the painting!

Coming to class on the third day as Adiyan had to wonder what they would do today. But then the fu dog felt like he was falling, when it all stopped he looked around to find that he was standing on a cliff on a mountain. Looking around at his soundings a little confused at what had happened and he felt really odd too and then looked at his hand to see that he looked like he had been painted and in the Assistant-Professor's scroll painting and that was interesting into itself.

Tamed and Ready!

Hearing what Professor Zhang was saying about finding there beast they had painted the day before. Adiyan thought on what the Professor had said as he really didn’t have much patience sometimes but he did think that he did have some wits and he knew he had the strength. Well he better get down to that field were the beast were as it looked like it was going to be a long walk down from the mountain cliff. Just as Adiyan thought he had gotten down safely that he stumbled some and tumbled down some before making it down to the field and he was glad that the scraps on his back were only minor injury.

Sighing slightly once he had made it into the field. The fu dog looked around to see if he could find the deer he had painted. It hadn’t taken him long to spot it, but just as he found it was moving away from him. Adiyan gave chase after and he was a little tired when he finally caught up to the deer.

It had taking some time since he had to battle the beast once he had caught up to it. Adiyan was tired now as he just barely had won the battle. The deer bowed slightly as he acknowledged his strength, then the fu dog walked up to the deer to give it a pat as he looked happy to have him as his master.

When Malodore entered the classroom and saw no tables laid out, for a moment it thought it had come to the wrong room - but no, that was the scroll they'd 'populated' the day before, with their instructors standing by wearing smiles it didn't entirely trust. Something was going on, it was sure.

And it was correct. Malodore took a step back - or tried to - as the sensation of falling forward began, but its movement was entirely in vain. With a rather undignified yelp, the plague doctor tumbled into the painting along with everyone else...

When the world steadied again, Malodore was transfixed. It lifted its hands and moved its fingers in front of it, astonished at how different everything seemed - rather than fingers, it had long, tapered ink-strokes, but it was still there. When it touched palm-to-palm, it felt bloodmetal, not ink; when it picked up its trailing sleeve, it felt cloth rather than paper. So perhaps it was only its perception that had changed.

It couldn't help but wonder if this was how Ettore saw things, in the depths of its artistic mind.

Of course, once its wonder at its own appearance had faded, Malodore realized it was on top of a cliff, the stone rendered in long, angular strokes of ink. Professor Zhang spoke to them - so they were to tame their beasts, were they? And it had made a fish... well, it was pretty sure it could handle taming a fish. Finding it would be the real challenge.

With a sigh, Malodore began picking its way down from the top of the cliff, heading for the streaks of blue far below that indicated water.

Tamed and Ready!

The mountain descent was far, far more treacherous than Malodore had initially assumed. The brush strokes were deceptive, looking smooth and sleek from a distance but resolving themselves into sharper features as it drew closer and closer. It had to move with care, and be certain that it knew which lines delineated an edge and which did not. By the time the plague doctor reached the lower field it was extremely tired, muscles aching from the strain.

Still, it felt a bit better for having reached its destination. After taking a moment to rest, Malodore headed over to the nearest curl of water - beautifully depicted with soft, swirling linework. Now to wait and watch. Three eyes, the Professor had said... so it wasn't just any fish. That made it harder, as there were a number of fish in the 'water' here.

... There! A flash of a fish with an extra eye; the plague doctor lunged for it, but the thing vanished into the reeds. Again and again it flickered into view before disappearing, leading Malodore on a somewhat merry but mostly fruitless chase. Again and again the plague doctor splashed through the inky water, getting thoroughly soaked - until, at last, it caught a glimpse out of the corner of its eye and reacted swiftly, without conscious thought.

It found itself with a struggling three-eyed fish caught between its hands. The fish gave it an almost measuring look, then seemed to... well, fish couldn't nod, not really, but it felt like it had nodded.

And then Malodore was back in the classroom, feeling dampish and sore but vaguely triumphant.

Muka had never experienced anything quite like it. He was intrigued by his ink hands and feet. His pinstripes were strokes of ink. There was no way he could keep in his excited giggling. It took minutes for him to get a hold of himself, realizing he was in the bamboo forest.

"Here beastie.." He giggled. Muka didn't think his would be hard to find. It had a blob... with wings and beautiful eyes. How hard could it be?

Ugh! Failed Tame!

Muka began to navigate the stalks of bamboo. He was there for a while, pushing the stalks aside so he could move through but eventually he realized... why was he bothering?

The strix took flight and in moments had set down outside the border of the forest. He brushed his ink-drawn clothing out of habit and looked around amongst the roaming beasts. He spotted something that looked familiar but it's back was to him. The strix tried to sneak up but the beast turned around and caught site of him. It flapped it's wings and took off, the strix taking flight behind.

It was a riveting chase as they ducked in and out of low lying ink clouds. Muka had lost it for a moment before he emerged, by accident, right next to his creation.

"AHA!" The strix leapt at the creature. The wrestled and tumbled in the air. Eventually they crashed to the ground in a vicious struggle. Unfortunately the beast won. It stayed by his side but seemed preeeeeettty mad.

Lumi walked up to class having mulled over the comments of the instructors all night long. As she walked up to the building she removed her shoes and stepped in. She had listened to the instructor speak, and without warning felt herself feeling very odd.

"oh Jack...what is happening!"

Lumi frantically looked about but calmed a little when she heard the instructors voice telling them they needed to locate their beast. Now it was just a matter of where should she look first.

"I guess these cliffs would be a good place to start..."
