The shadow ghoul was exploring places and had several training courses in these few days. Whenever she learnt something, questions were piled up. Finally, on this lesson, she screwed up her courage to ask Bulbous. " Sir.......em....would you mind.....answering some questions if you are free?" She raised her hand up, hoping to draw the instructor's attention and asked with occasional pauses. " I.....I have got some questions.......First, do you know what the locust-like bugs are doing in the oasis? I've seen them a few times." " Also, I seem to see some oil-like substances in the oasis water, are they useful?" " Secondly, about the FEAR seeds. I've seen some seeds of FEAR-based plants in the vegetation lab, is the seeds we're dealing with will grow into similar things like that? Are the crops in the crop rooms of similar basis too? Also, we had different kinds of FEAR, will there be effect on our seeds? What actually are the oils we used yesterday and their fuctions?" " Lastly, I have heard that the heirs are returning......is that true? and.....there will be..... a ceremony?" Arynek, with her head looking down, vomited all her hidden questions to Bulbous at once, afraid to look at his facial expression. Waiting for Bulbous's reply was surely a hard thing for her.........poor ghoul

With an exasperated sigh, the reaper hurried to the next step, trying to catch up. Alright you... plant it? Easy peasy. Pursing his tongue between his lips in a look of utmost concentration, he jammed his bloody thumb into the soil before poking it down inside and giving it a nice glaze over.
There! Planted. Like he knew what he was doing. He nodded. That'll do, stone, that'll do.
4- Very good, the seed is not only planted but you’re sure you felt a pulse of FEAR from it. (+1)

Arynek, a shadow ghoul sitting quite close to the Shenny, made her day. She was so straight and naive to ask Bulbous questions. No, QUESTIONS. Jack, Shenny was absolutely positive those were the questions all the students have been asking to themselves, but nobody, nobody actually found guts to ask them aloud. She almost applauded the ghoul. Malodore's answer was quite intriguing... So, there's nothing like this in Amytiville. That means, perhaps, if she ever manages to get enrolled, she might have some knowledge not so common in Academy... except for the students who've been here, too. She just realized Malodore, in its Plague doctor outfit its skin fully covered with bandages, was no less fascinating than their instructor. Malodore has this sparkle in its eyes that could clearly indicate a devoted scientist. " I've been thinking about it, conducting our experiments," she addressed Malodore quietly. " Do you suppose one can use the same type of fear infusing and bonding technology to create multi-task artefacts? I was pretty fascinated by the rock Bulbous showed.. If one could use a couple of creatures and feed them up to the last fear particle to the artefact, it could gain quite a power.. and it could be a perfect way to accumulate fear in general. I just can't get it out of my head. What do you think?". ((HELLO BLEACH AND HOGYOKU!))

Another day. They focused, inhaling deeply, steadying their minds. They removed the wrappings, revealing a golden glowing little stone. Using the needle, Aleria pricked the webbing between their thumb and forefinger, navy blue blood dripping down to the stone. Unfortunately, it looked like their blood did not take very well. Ugh.

Finally, Aleria applied the wardstone to the scareon, sliding into its place on the creature's collar. It is secure, and the creature is rather unhappy. Aleria placed the creature into the cage once more.
Excellent.

There was the light clatter of bones and bells again. A single moth landing on the plague doctor's hat, it was quickly joined by others until- Moth dust, Malodore was covered in it. Just as quickly as the moths came, the scattered. "You are welcome. If you wish to take future..alchemical endeavors and are unable to here I am told that they offer such teachings outside of out clan, though, I would guess their purposes are much different." A glance at his work and breaking off a finger from the hand, it was shoved into the dirt. "Perhaps you might be able to stay and continue your studies. All depends on the end result after all." The student questioning had him moving to her, putting the hand back into gut. "Questions are needed to find answers, and if they are not asked, then they will never be found." He didn't seem to mind it his moths circling above him. Cracking his neck at the first question he let out a cracking laugh. "The locusts do as they like I imagine. As for oil... depends on the oil. Oil in the oasis does not tell me much, but I would guess it has yet to be harvested." He muttered something about sending someone to do that. "The seeds are the base, as for what you shall grow you will find out soon enough. You ask one question to which is best left to another lesson." A click and he bones in his hand cracked in response the last question. "But... patience... some answers you will find only with time." Sosiqui Malodore may take Either: a +1 bonus by leaving the finger OR remove the finger for his own purposes, (though it doesn't have any other status effect).

Malodore bowed to Bulbous. "Thank you, sir - I will be sure to look for such opportunities whenever I can find them." It opened its beak slightly in a smile. When the teacher pushed the rotting human finger into its pot, it was momentarily tempted to remove the thing and take it for its own uses, but perhaps the instructor had deliberately put the digit into the pot for a reason. If it was meant to be taken, would he not have handed the finger to it directly?
The plague doctor left the finger where it was and made sure that the pot was well positioned before leaving with another nod to their instructor.
---------------
The next day, Malodore entered with a spring in its step, eager to see the results - and the sight that met its eyes was not disappointing in the least. The seeds had sprouted into beautiful, slender reedy stalks colored deep crimson, with the most astonishing golden veins spread throughout. Aesthetically, they were lovely. Scientifically, they were fascinating.
It listened to Bulbous speak, then went to retrieve its plant. It seemed vibrant, and the human finger left in the pot yesterday had slumped down into the 'soil', apparently lending vitality to the plant. The plague doctor's reeds were not the most vigorous in the class, but they certainly weren't failures either. To pick it, it needed blood...
It carefully repeated the process from the day before, discreetly shifting the bandages on its neck to reveal a bit of flesh, which it then punctured and drew blood from. This time it used the tip of one claw, gently dripping a few drops on the base of the reeds. Not too much. The soil absorbed it and something seemed to loosen... good!
((1 - good result on blood yay))

This was it. Malodore took a deep breath, for the calming effect, then carefully reached its claws around the reeds to pull them out. Careful. Careful. A little more, a little-
SNAP.
Malodore froze in horror, opening its claws up - but fortunately it had only snapped the reed in half, not destroyed it entirely. Some color had gone out of the reeds but they still seemed fairly bright, thankfully... still, the plague doctor cursed itself mentally as it extracted the two halves. That could have gone smoother. Less force next time, then, if it had the opportunity for a second chance later on...
It could feel FEAR in the reeds, soft and pulsing faintly.

Quote: Huzzah! You nicked yourself and let a drop or two hit the reed/stone. Time to pull it out Clyde had been a shocked by how, just one single day, the chubby looking scareons could turn to nothing but skeletal remains (how are they still alive?). He had to keep himself from looking at them as he went to retrieve his pot. The fact that a tiny seed would turn into an almost skeleton like form and now to this reed was puzzling, but to it might take forever to explain how this process was possible. Taking the reed with him towards the side, he attempted to follow the instructions on how to harvest the plant. Clyde pricked his finger, once again for a drop of blood, on the edge of the plant.Thankfully, only two landed in the pot.
Immediately after, Clyde started to move on towards the next step: Removing the reed.

Quote: Good job, the reed is bright and ripe with FEAR! Swallowing the lump in his throat, Clyde attempted to remove the reed. Gently and carefully, the reed came free from the soil in perfect condition. Its color remained bright and vibrant as the varcolac examined the plant in his hand. He was sure he was supposed to feel accomplished, but a nagging voice at the back of his brain just told him it was by pure luck he passed. Whatever the case might be, Clyde was just glad he didn't fail miserably.
Following the rest of the instructions, Clyde left the reed on the mat.

Step one (Both) Spill some blood to ready the removal of the final product. Roll 1d8 to determine success. 1-7-Huzzah! You nicked yourself and let a drop or two hit the reed/stone. Time to pull it out 8- You cut deep and a lot of blood got on it….. not good (-2 score) The last day, and Hadiyya had was actually a little sad about it. There was excitement too, don't get her wrong, but she knew the end of this last lesson would be the last she saw of Bulbous and his flock of moths, and possibly the last little bit of alchemy she'd get to dabble in. She entered the tent and took a seat, smoothing her skirts along her thighs as she tucked her legs beneath her. Hands folding on her lap as she listened intently to what they would be doing for their final set of tasks. This was it, this was what they'd all been working towards for a week, and to say the ghoul was a little nervous was an understatement. She watched with a flutter in her stomach as the scareon exploded, and the reed crumbled into ash, dread tightening within her like a solid knot. Oh dear Jack, do not let her be the one to fail. When released to their own devices the ghoul rose, retrieved her pot and it's brightly colored reed, and set to work by dragging the edge of her finger along a particularly sharp bit of the stalk. A little too hard. With a wince Yaya jerked her hand back, cut finger going automatically to her lips so she could suck on the bleeding wound, but it was too late, she'd already dripped quite a bit of bright crimson on the reed. "Oh no.." This was not a good start to the day. Constructive: 8 - 2 = 6
