Abaeze snorted, her gaze catching Musa's dark pelt as he tried to follow Manaba up the stones where Ayita rested. "Can't help it when I have stubborn kings and head huntresses that refuse to eat and rest." Her tongue could be sharp when she wanted it to be, and right now, she was making it as sharp as could be for the Kind King of the pride. "Now get going, and eat with your pride like a king should instead of setting bad examples for the cubs." She didn't want Musa or the other cubs picking up Ayita and Soyali's bad habit of waiting until others eat, and just not eating themselves. It would be the ruin of the pride and of all lions. She wouldn't have it. No, the young lioness would make sure her kings and huntress ate with the rest of the pride. They would eat with them, and they would not avoid food or rest. Tending after Ayita and Soyali reminded her of looking after Musa. They were cubs that refused to do what was best for them because of their stubborn mindsets and ideas. She was going to break them of those habits if she could help it.

Musa set himself in a crouch, springing upward and landing on one slab of rock. He still had several more until he reached the den where Manaba had taken Ayita. It was his priority to ensure the huntress was all right. His stomach growled loudly as he climbed, but he ignored it. He would eat later, once Ayita had awoken and had food. The huntress needed food more than he did, especially if he kept fainting. He silently wondered where that warrior was with Ayita's water. The male better return quickly before the huntress awoke and asked for water.

Having gotten quite a good chunk of the water buffalo Ayita had proudly taken down to supply for the pride, Manaba limped his way up the stones to read his sister. Stopping once to look back at a sound. Paw pads on rock. Those olive eyes quickly caught sight of Musa. The stubborn cub was trying hard to get up them. Doing mighty well. Looked like he was getting a hold of it. One more step and he half way trotted towards the brown and black giant heap that was Ayita. Lightly dropping the flesh a bit aside, he took the liberty of sitting on his haunches. Thinking. "You shouldn't work so hard." Lifting a large paw he placed it on his sister's muscular shoulder, head somewhat down and rounded ears drooped. "Don't leave me like mother left us.." Removed his paw and continued his hushed tone. "Thin and stressed behind a mask of pure love for the pride and us, before herself." Laying down he stared off into space. As much as plenty of the other lions despised him or disliked him in this pride, it was not so much obvious he wasn't just a "player." He cared. Manaba truly cared. More so for his beloved older sister then any other lion. Ayita afterall took care of him when their mother passed. Lips twitched at the thought. There wasn't much he could do at the moment. And he hated it.

This Kind King wasn't one to argue. Wasn't one to follow orders. However Abaeze wasn't giving orders. Suggestions and extremely thurough worries. Enough to pursuade this clouded giant to oblige and follow. Grey eyes focused on the freshly hunted meat. Picking part of his choice, he gradually found himself a comfortable spot to eat. However, it wasn't long before the king was becoming a bed for some cups. He truly didn't care. Thought it was cute. Since one of his paws equaled a single cub. He was as calm as could be. Slowly eating at the slab of the carcass. Savoring for what it was worth. Stopping here and there to look up in the direction where the head huntress would be. Manaba as well. Along with Musa. So many emotions going throughout the air.

Abaeze sat by Soyali as he ate the wildebeest. The pride's cubs were certainly fond of the depressed king, and it didn't surprise her at all that he was so popular. He kept his personal grievances hidden from sight of the rest of the pride. She could only tell he had his problems because she was so close to Ayita, and she did not forget about the king's beloved wife. "The cubs are certainly fond of you." She noted, thinking about how the kind king would want some of those cubs to be his and his late mate. Anyone would want that if their first and only love were to die so suddenly. "You should eat more, King Soyali. A lion of your size needs more meat than what you have in front of you." She wouldn't let him skip out on eating as much as he could, and she would make him eat more than he could so he wouldn't faint like Ayita.

Musa finally reached Ayita and Manaba. He had not heard what the king had told his sister, and the cub really didn't care. He was more concerned with Ayita's condition. The warrior that was gathering water for the lioness should have returned by now, and it was worrying the cub. "How is she? Has she even opened her eyes?" He asked quietly, keeping his distance from the lioness because he still remembered Manaba's reaction from earlier. Even if by accident, the cub didn't want to lose his head or have Abaeze upset. "A warrior should be here with water soon." The mud-colored cub spoke quietly, staring at the brother and sister duo. They reminded him of himself and Abaeze. Musa only wanted to protect his sister and do everything he could for her, but he only seemed to cause her trouble.

It was a few minutes time before Soyali took the last bit of flesh into his white maw. How the king managed to keep himself so clean was a miracle even to himself. Now, the Kind King would get up and retrieve another part of the delicious kill, if it wasn't for the cubs playing around. A few curled up sleeping just next to his elbow. One had managed to get atop him and into his man. The white fur was blobbed by a cream colored future huntress. Soyali wouldn't dare get up and disturb them. The only thing that really moved besides his eyes, and occasionally slowly turning his head, was his tail. Lightly lifting and hitting the stone beneath him in a different spot each time. A couple of cubs trying to catch it. Jumping in it but not biting. If they did he however would not mind either. "Indeed they are. Would rather be fond than feared." His wise words never ceased to sprout from his maw. Giving a heavy sigh, the little lives made him think of his beloved. Donoma. The brightly colored lioness who's pelt outshone the setting sun. Contrasting his own. Sometimes, watching the cubs, he ponders. Ponders of what a cub would have looked like if Donoma and him had created a miracle. It was amazing how much time had passed since she had passed. Those eyes held the sudden sadness thinking about her. Laying his head on his paws. He laid there. "I agree with you my dear. Though, complications stop me from retrieving any more at the moment. Do not wish for you to fetch me any either. I will simply wait for a little while." There was actually emotion in his monotoned voice.

Manaba was off into space in thought. Like he tended to be if he was alone. He was interrupted by Musa. Eyes kept themselves locked on the cub. No lip twitch, no glance of hatred. Nothing. No growling came from Manaba. He had snapped at another male but wouldn't snap at a cub. Let alone Musa. Abaeze would skin his hide if he did. Not to mention Ayita would kill him when she woke up. Soyali was scary enough with a certain look he could give. "No." Plain and simple answer as he lifted his head to look at his sister. Her lungs obviously working for her ribs were rising and falling. She looked at piece at least. "This isn't the first time this has happened. I doubt the others know this... You do now." Manaba had gone out with his sister after a scuffle with a lioness. She passed out on the way back. He didn't leave her to get help. He wouldn't leave her alone. "Worrying for others, she doesn't care for herself." Why was he talking to a cub. Or rather himself really. "I should thank your sister for watching over her all the time.. And you for getting tha warrior to head out..." Shaking his head he placed his head on his paws. Not liking this situation.

"Too bad," Abaeze was already on her paws and walking towards the kill. She hadn't missed the emotion in the king's usual monotone voice or the look he had for the cubs. It would be easy to guess that he had been thinking the same thing as she had moments earlier. "I didn't hear an order from that wise mouth of yours." Wishing and ordering were two different things, and she wouldn't let the cubs be an excuse for him to not eat. The lioness eyed the kill and tore off what she believed the king would like the most from it. She retrieved the thickest meat left and carried it over to Soyali. Depositing the meat in front of him, she gently nudged the cubs away from the king. "Eat, my king, because I know you'll avoid eating later when another kill is made." The night was still young to the lioness, but she knew sooner or later daybreak would come, and the lions would once again be cast underneath the harsh and consent glare of the sun.

Musa watched Manaba for several long moments, never taking his eyes off the flirtatious king. The lion was very sad, the cub could tell, even if the king didn't show it on his face. Ayita's family was full of sad lions. "They're more like moms than anything else. They love us, but they always forget about themselves. That's why we're here to make them remember they're just as important." He mused aloud, staring out over the savanna, spotting the returning warrior carrying Ayita's water. Took him long enough. "You're a lot more respectable when you're not flirting with every tail you see." The cub commented, looking back at the king and staying quiet in the dark night of the African safari. He heard the buzzing of insects and the cries of distant animals.

There was no way to argue with a lioness. Soyali knew this well. Abaeze was a very persuasive one indeed. Even if the king had ordered and set his paw down for her not to any action, the female would still do it. Keeping quiet and not complaining when another slab of meet was carried over, Soyali just let his down given gaze eye it. As if he really should eat it or not. The answer had already been given to him. He WAS to eat it if he knew what was good for him. "Know me to well." There was a bit of humor now in that voice. It seemed he was actually starting to open up more. Especially lately. Still tending to keep to himself. It was slowly changing. Step by step. He was learning again. Back to eating. Slowly. With no cubs up against him anymore, he wasn't afraid to move. He missed the little balls of fur already. One thing about the giant was always clear. Loved cubs. Always had. Oh how he wished Donoma was indeed still here. Maybe, just maybe, he would care more for himself then others. "Abaeze, I do believe I should say, you remind me much of my setting sun." That was all the king had to say before getting back to his given meal.

Eyes focused on the dark colored cub as he spoke. Manaba was silently listening. Never lifting his lips to speak until the cup was finished. For the first part anyway. "If Ayita continues to do such and not care for herself more, we will lose her the same way her and I lost our mother." More insight to the inner workings of the male. Getting up, Manaba lightly limped around his sister. He had noticed a little bit of movement. A twitch of her paw. And a flick of her ear. The male pressed his muzzle against his sister's shoulder. Pushing. As if shaking her. More like nudging. "I've been told... I should drop the act then.." Knowing Ayita was soon to wake when her lips twitched, Manaba backed away. Round ears somewhat forward as the head huntress shifted slightly.

The feeling of hard stone against her side was causing Ayita discomfort. And the feel of a nose to her shoulder, pushing, was beginning to agitate her. That is until a familiar voice let her know who it was. Twitching those lips, Ayita widened them into a yawn. Green eyes meeting the sight of the dark sky, and figures nearby. Grunting to get at least into the classic lazy lion position, brown ears flattened with sudden dizzyness. Massive head shaking, that gentle voice spoke. "Manaba?.. What is g-going on?.." She was dizzy.

Abaeze's creamy pelt prickled with hot embarrassment. Where did Soyali get the idea to say such things? Was he trying to play games with her by saying something so embarrassing? The king wasn't a cruel lion, no, he wasn't, but even he could make the most simple mistakes. Growling at herself, the lioness turned away from the king and stared out at the warrior carrying the water for Ayita. "Please refrain from saying such meaningless things, my king. It only brings pain." She gave him one last glance before speaking again. "Excuse me. I need to tell the warrior where Ayita is, and you better finish eating." The lioness left before the king could answer. She didn't want to hear another compliment like that again. She didn't glance back at the king as she approached the warrior and told him where he would find Manaba and Ayita. The young lion nodded and quickly padded away, careful not to spill any of the water in the water-soaked moss.

"Why act foolish? You're a great lion as you are." The cub said quietly under his breath as the huntress stirred from her unconsciousness. "I'm not Manaba, but I'll tell you. You had everyone worried, Ayita." Musa informed the lioness with a snort. He heard the sound of heavy paw steps and saw the dark head of the warrior he had ordered to fetch water come. The lion saw that the huntress was awake, and that Manaba was still around, so he quickly left the water-soaked moss by the meat and left. "Funny how he's usually the laziest of lions in the pride."

Having just swollowed a chunk of the slab of meat the white giant had infront of him, had to reframe from choking. Soyali swollowed the meat that had been caught in his throat. Eyes familiar to holding no sign of emotion, moved up in their sockets to stare down the back of a lioness that had just turned away. Watching Abaeze for a few seconds as she told the approaching warrior where to go, those eyes never blinked. Ears neither moved. It was as if Soyali was a monkey made stone. When he had said she reminded him of her setting sun, it was as if to say her kindness was bright and warm. In all truth, she did remind him of her. Neither of the two were the same. It was just how kind the lioness could be. It brought pain? He didn't like this. Huffing as he heaved his giant body to his paws, he left the half eaten meat where it was. Padding past the lioness and the carcass, Soyali headed back up towards the over look of Pride Rock. Like a low cloud, he helt his head level to his shoulders. Striding slow up the stone.

It took a small while for emerald eyes to focus fully on the figures before the might huntress. Ayita let out a low growl of frustration at the fact that she wasn't able to see straight fast enough. The lioness did like to see. Wasn't too keen into not seeing what was before her. Also the ringing in her ear. Agitated her. Not knowing who else was there, a heavy show of teeth brightened the night air when the warrior came by. However, hearing him hurry away, Ayita calmed. Several more minutes passed until vision was clear and hearing was bearable. "My apologies.." About to speak again she got a large placed on her muzzle to keep her from talking. That lovely goofball of a brother she had was playfully telling her to shut up. Sighing she obliged and looked at the two before her. A cub and a cub at heart. Two younger siblings. Old and new. Neither of them would probably admit, but they were beyond comparable. She laughed at her thought. But it hurt to laugh. Mouth being rather dry. She guessed that was what the soaked moss was for.

If Manaba had heard Musa speak that little mumbled sentence, he would probably be staring at the mud colored cub with a extremely overly exagerated expression of shock. Not expecting anything like coming from the brats mouth. Then again, he didn't hate Musa. No. Liked the little ball of fur. Ayita sure did. Then again his sister loved cubs. The future of the pride. With his sister getting around, the male sat on his haunches. Until she uttered an apology. Manaba lifted a paw and placed it on her muzzle quicker then you could swipe at him. She didn't need to be apologizing. Removing it quickly to reframe from is being snapped off he laughed. "Blubber ball here got that lazy hog to fetch the moss for you." That got Ayita to glance at the cub. Manaba wasn't an attention hog. All the time.

When Abaeze turned her head to check on Soyali, she found the white king was on the overlook once again. Growling in annoyance, the lioness stalked towards the jutting rock, but she did not step passed the kings' den area. Glaring at the king in the dark, her blue eyes focused on his ghostly figure before she spoke, "It's disrespectful to leave prey uneaten or half eaten, King Soyali." She was still a little miffed from when he had complimented her. He had spoken carelessly when he said she was like a sunset. Did he not know the consequences of saying something like that was sleepy cubs and eavesdropping lions were around? They could very well misinterpret his words as something more intimate, and every lioness that wanted to be his mate would take out their frustrations on Abaeze while trying to change the king's affections because she somehow stole the white king's heart. And it would all happen because of a stupid misunderstanding.

Musa stifled the urge to snicker at the siblings' behavior. Ayita needed to stop worrying about the pride and start taking care of herself. "Who are you calling a blubber ball you lecherous king." The cub glared at the king, a little annoyed from being called a blubber ball. It was annoying, and what about the cub was like blubber? He wasn't fat, just muscle, unlike some lions. "Anyways, Manaba brought you meat. So eat, Ayita. You made Abaeze worry because you haven't eaten in a while. She won't take no as an answer, and neither will anyone else." The male said as he sat down and watched the dizzy lioness.

Not one to take things the opposite way of context, Soyali hadn't been too fond for the plain and obvious annoyance and or displeasure coming from the huntress. Sitting, looking like the kings of the past overlooking the lands, the moon projected its light. Bouncing off the white fur allowing the king to glow in a way. Grey eyes kept their gaze straight forward. Gazing out past oblivion. Thinking. Contemplating. As to just why what his words had done. The massive skull sunk in thought while in the process of turning it to the side. Seeing the cream blue eyes form of the just mentioned lioness. Abaeze was stern looking and seemingly not in a good mood. The way the lioness spoke, a tone set, made Soyali actually narrow his eyes and turn his head. Just as she had turned her back to him. He was doing the same. Never turned your back to a king. Typically this clouded eyed beast ignored that little rule. The other kings didn't mind either. Though, giving a mere compliment, whilst he does it to every lion, didn't make him deserve to so rudely be turned against. "This I know. Though, it is fine to say I sha'll retrieve it in a little while." Laying himself down, he rested his head apon his paws.

"Blubber ball sounds better than mud mutt.." That got Manaba a swipe from Ayita. His sister was fully awake and in a good mood. Good. The young king was only playing around and the cub oughta know that. Chuckling he pushed the meat towards the huntress when Musa mentioned it. Wasn't long before he got up to all fours and pressed his muzzle to his sister's shoulder. In return Ayita lifted a paw and awkwardly smacked him. Stepping over the giant lioness Manaba laughed. Turning around he grinned. "Take care of my sis you ball of fur." He hopped down the stones. He was going to get himself something to munch on. However he pretty much landed wrong and repulled that back leg. Oh well. Wouldn't let it ruin his mood.

Oh how Ayita loved these little moments with her brother. They rarely got a chance to spend time like siblings should. She loved to mess with her younger brother. Hitting him with her large paw. Laughing herself, those emerald eyes watched the dark maned male limp off. Ayita let her soft expression move to Musa. "Don't mind Manaba's words. You aren't a blubber ball or a mud mutt." Letting another laugh out, it showed how much of a good mood she was in. High spirits like this were severely missed. It had been a while. Before she could speak anymore she reached out for the soaked moss. As much as any lion hated the taste of moss, it was good for the stomach. The head huntress had no problem with taking it into her jaws. The water held into it made her throat no longer scratchy. Taking a deep breath she contemplated the meat however. Wondering how everyone else was fairing. Then again, she was to eat it. Or consequences were to occur.

Abaeze gave the king's turned back a curt nod. "Very well." Walking away from the king, she went over to the kill and took some food for herself and Musa. She looked over at the rocks and wondered if Musa and Ayita were doing all right. The lioness was still flustered from Soyali's words, and it was obvious the king didn't understand how his words could be taken the wrong way. Sighing deeply, the light furred lion took her meat and waited by her usual eating spot for Musa. It was always nice to eat with another lion, especially if it's Musa because of the jokes and stories the cub would always tell her.

"Good-for-nothing king...where does he get the incentive to call me a mutt...?" Musa grumbled under his breath, glaring at the dark king's retreating back in the night. The king's limp was the only thing giving the cub sympathy for him because, otherwise, the king was a pitiable creature. "Yeah, I'm a mud ball as you called me. Where'd you get that name anyways?" The cub asked, sitting down in front of the lioness and waiting for her to eat. Once she had her fill and was in proper condition, he'd find Abaeze and eat with her. She was probably worried about the both of them right now.

Dull grey eyes kept their view forward, forever and for always. They weren't going to turn back. Soyali's thoughts may look into the past for memories. Images may flash before the Kind King's eyes. But, never will those eyes actually glance back. Hearing Abaeze head away, Soyali let out a sigh and closed his eyes. Thinking. What exactly had that comment done to make the young huntress act so, out of her own character. It had indeed slipped his mind as to what it could have caused. Blind by the way other lioness might feel about it. Being as the vision of his left him when Donoma left. Waiting for the white lion. Thus, he wouldn't see how other lioness may have acted. Another sigh escaped his massive maw. The Kind King felt. Odd. Something itching and biting him under his fur. This was going to bug him until he knew. Seeker of knowledge was his curse. Getting to his paws, he kept his sulking to his inner mind as he slowly headed back down. Ignoring looks apon his white frame. Passing Manaba who found a good chuck of red meat, few organs straggling along. Picking up what was left of his own he daintily finished with silence. He had a mission. Locating Abaeze the giant zigzagged among lioness. "I would like to.. apologize for my unfortunate attitude." Didn't occur to him what the other lioness might see about this. "To fully understand the situation that has come between us, this aura is unwelcomed. What is it that I have done to make you so closed?" His tone was hushed. Thin as the air itself.

Taking a second or two, Ayita was letting that stomach of her's contemplate the feel of food. The huntress was quite hungry. Probably since the tire of the day. It was not wished to have a scolding session from Abaeze. The thought amused her. "Your fur is quite dark. Much like mine. And with your playful or rather occasionally playful personality, mud ball came to mind." Reaching out with a open clawed paw, she pulled the meat forward. Closer to her. Bowing her head in thanks to the past kings, she tore a bit off. Oh this tasted amazing. She had forgotten was wildabeast tasted like. Had been a while since one had been taken down. "Go. Enjoy a meal with your sister. Tell her I am alright." Her voice wasn't demanding. Just cheerful.

Abaeze looked up as the white lion approached her. She mentally sighed at the thought of speaking to the king. It took him long enough to ask her what had upset her, but she was disappointed in his inability to already figure out what had upset her. "I'll answer your question with a question of my own. When your dear Donoma was still alive, what sort of things would you think or say to her?" If the lion couldn't get the hint through her question, she'd give him a more obvious hint. "I'm sure all the eligible lionesses wished they could have been her for that short while you two were together." She mused aloud, stretching it that far so he would get the hint. If not, it wasn't her problem he wasn't as wise or smart as he made himself out to be.

"Blah, that's mean." Muaa stuck his tongue out at the lioness, but laughed anyways. It was good to see the lioness eating and active again. But all right, I'll be going. I'll tell Abaeze you say hi." Bidding the head huntress goodbye, the cub made his way down the rocks on his short legs. He saw Manaba eating, and it reminded him of his own empty stomach. Looking around, the cub didn't see his sister, so he guessed she was in their usual spot. Padding quietly over to their spot, since he didn't want to disturb the other lionesses and cubs, he came to find Abaeze and Soyali speaking. Curious as a cub should be, he remained in the shadows and listened to their conversation. He only caught what Abaeze said, and that was enough to make the cub's mind go reeling. Did Soyali like Abaeze? That wasn't right. The Kind King was in constant mourning for his mate. Surely it wouldn't take just a day of talking to change the great lion, but who knows? The cub certainly didn't. He was becoming more and more curious about the situation. Abaeze didn't look happy that the king liked her. She looked more upset and angry than anything else. It was a look that meant she wouldn't forgive the lion who made her that way for a few days, the mud-colored cub included.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2012 11:24 pm

It was at that point that Soyali felt like a complete and utter idiot. Never before had the king felt hyena brained. Until now. Those grey eyes had been blind to the obvious. Though, clouded by the misfortune of Donoma so much that he had not truly kept in mind how the minds of jealousy worked. All the while these thoughts ran a much through the great kings mind, his face held nothing. Closing those eyes the male sighed. "You and young Musa have ways with making my mind churn. Rethink actions. Contemplate others." That all knowing mind wasn't indeed all knowing. This was another bit of information to sink into his mind. Another lesson in his life learned. This put him in a good mood. Retreiving new information or occasionally being proved wrong made him in a brighter mood then his dull self. Though it may not show through the aged looking expression. "I sha'll leave you to enjoy. Since it appears I am interrupting." Tilting his head to the side towards the dark shadows, it was clear something was there. Even dark stone held movement. The cub was learning well. Turning on his paws he headed off.

Musa stiffened when Soyali turned in his direction. Darn it, he was discovered, but at least he learned something new and interesting about his sister and the king. He couldn't wait to tell the other cubs about this event. "Jeez, I'm hungry." The cub yawned, padding over to his sister with a happy expression facing her glaring face.
"Musa..."
"Thanks for the food, Abaeze." As far as he could tell, the lioness was still upset and angry at the king. Ignoring his sister's death glares, he tore at his food, chewing the meat hungrily. It had been too long since he had anything to eat, and it had been sometimes since he had wildebeest.

Abaeze could tell Musa wouldn't say anything about her conversation with Soyali to her. He was plotting something, she was sure of it. Cubs had the most devious and imaginative minds in any lion pride. They were also the ones that got into trouble the most. "He doesn't like him, Musa. And I don't like him." But she knew the cub wasn't listening even as she spoke. She'd make sure to keep an extra eye on him for the next couple of days. For now, the lioness ate her food, her empty stomach filling with the red meat of wildebeest. It felt good having a full stomach, even with her injuries and the possible gossip about her and Soyali weighing on her mind.
