"She caught me by surprise." Nyx said pointedly. "What's your excuse?"

"....she's well-trained and ruthless. She's faster than you can imagine and she won't give you a chance to fight back. I've tried. You don't have to take my word for it though.. go ahead and get your hands on her. I'll enjoy hearing your excuse the next time she puts you in here."

"Hmph." Nyx didn't take his word for it... Star had gotten puched by Nyx, and she wasn't exactly a heavy weight champ... but it wasn't likely she could take Tethys in a fair fight. That was what science was for. Star didn't need to know that, tho. He couldn't be trusted. Even if it hadn't been his plan to kill her, he'd gone along with it, and taunted her on the plane.

Star shut his eyes. He was trying to stay awake but it wasn't easy. "Trust me ..she'll make you regret crossing her." As evidence of this, he was out again shortly after.

That was a trick question, she'd learned from experience. Orion apparently had not.
Tethys caught the ball by reflex, ignored the question, and tossed it right back with greater force. "I am not inclined to accept favors from you." The last thing she needed was to owe this troll something.
With a swirl of her coat, the commander turned to leave before he could whip out a bouquet of flowers.

Catching the ball, he just continued with that infuriating smug look of his. "Pfft. You already did sweetheart. You owe me one!" This being called after her as Tethys started to stalk off again. But Orion didn't pursue her this time. He just continued to stand there, tossing the ball up and down in his hand.
What a woman! He wasn't about to give up on her though. He was tenacious.

Orion would be able to see the commander visibly twitch at the thought, then square her shoulders as she strode off.

When she arrived back at Deimos' quarters she'd find the Galactic Boss hunched at a table in the corner, working on some sort of clockwork device, tongue sticking between his teeth. It was a constantly-evolving project that didn't really have any end goal. He worked on it when he felt distracted, adding things and taking things away.

Tethys had taken her time to get there. She'd gone the long way, retreating at last to her quarters, the privacy of a long shower, and a rereading of the team's manifesto while her hair dried. She knew every page in the little blue book by heart, but it was good to let her eyes fall on the words every night. It gave them somewhere to rest.
When she arrived, she'd changed from her grass-streaked uniform to a pristine, fluffy white bathrobe and slippers and her hair hung in a damp braid over one shoulder. The only sign of the events of the day was her right hand; the knuckles were red and slightly swollen. Star's angular features were not kind to assailants.
The pale woman looked around the room a moment, then padded over to a stack of designs, lifted it up, and located the missing pillow. It slid into Deimos' vision with an "It's ten, sir. You should be in bed."

Deimos looked up from his device and eyed the pillow a moment before looking at Tethys. He offered a little smile. "..I'm glad you found it." I'm glad you came back.
Deimos had every reason to be angry with Tethys and contrary to what some believed, his memory wasn't faulty. He remembered what had happened. He just chose not to be unhappy about it any more, because he didn't like it. It was easier to ignore problems and be happy. He'd been doing it his whole life.
He climbed to his feet and unclipped his cape, crossing the room toward his bathroom. "Did you have a productive evening?"

Tethys looked back, and the day returned to haunt her. "It was where you left it," she responded after a pause.
It wasn't easy to be angry at Deimos for very long. Oh, she got frustrated with him very often, even exasperated, but actual rage was a rare and remarkable thing. He never intended any harm, always acting with the best of intentions but the worst of common sense. Which was what she was for most of the time. All anger the commander had was focused on Nyx, and Star, and the rest of everything wrong with the world.
It didn't mean she didn't feel conflicted.
She caught his cape as he tossed it off; another reflexive motion, the same as moving her hands to reclasp it. "I dealt with some issues, sir; yes," she replied as she picked some lint off the shoulder, then hung the garment where it wouldn't wrinkle.

"Issues? You and Star left in a hurry. One of the mechs isn't off schedule is it?" His voice came from the bathroom, where the water turned on and he started brushing his teeth.

"No, sir." Tethys glanced at her sore knuckles absently. "A salvage team was sent out for the Braviary." Not the one Star had said he'd send. The ones to touch the jet's wreckage were the commander's issue, led by faithful Deneb.
"Orion is back." It was an abrupt, noticeable subject change, but Deimos hardly ever noticed. Nor did he seem to catch on to the distaste the pale woman was unable to keep out of any statement about the green-haired man.

"Oh good!" Deimos answered around his toothbrush and paused to spit. "Did he have a successful mission?"

One day and she could already she signs of a burgeoning mess. Tethys wandered over to the bed and turned down the covers, setting the little microfiber pillow for Andre next to the human-sized one. "He didn't say, but he looked in-" yeugh, "-good spirits. I'll have him report to you tomorrow."
