Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 9 Experience: 207/500 Hp: 144 Cp: 234 MHp: 117 Dodge Bonus: 20 Training: Martial perfection! Fear the power of the fist! (Part 7 ) Taijutsu: 0 DC: Always ten higher than skill Roll: 10 or higher to count Train: 10/10 Training: Martial perfection! Fear the power of the fist! (Part 8 ) Taijutsu: 0 DC: Always ten higher than skill Roll: 10 or higher to count Train: 7/10 “Where…the hell am I…?” he noticed that his voice was oddly young, which didn’t seemed to fit with his fuzzy vague perception of himself. The gap where he was sure his memories should be seemed vast and deep, as though millennia lay within, yet from the sound of his voice he could be no older then 13, 14 at the most. He was also, though this actually felt right, seemed to be rather short, definitively placing him in the body of a child. As he drew himself slowly to a nearby broken mirror he wiped away a layer of dust.Byakuran dodged barely to the left, his body still getting pummeled even though he had switched to having his other water clone hold the book for him, he was still having fight with divided attention, especially as he started to grow interested in the story. “AH!” a rather horrifying visage awaited him, my god! He was hideous! He was disturbingly vile, he was an abomina-…. it was a fun house mirror wasn’t it…
His brow twitched.
Picking his way over to far less concave reflective pool of water, the boy leaned over, examining his reflection more clearly.
He was, thankfully, not a giant headed child eating monster. He actually looked rather normal in his opinion, with scruffy, only mildly tamed blonde hair, crimson eyes, and slight build. His clothes, in his opinion, were the most outlandish thing about him…if only because of how dang stylish they looked! He felt a small proud smile pass over his face at this observation, personal though it was, before he brushed the wrinkles out of said stylish duds. He wore a pair of black shorts and a pair of kickin Air Mao sneakers, but even they were completely over shadowed by his awesome coat! He got the distinct impression that this one wasn’t his favorite coat for some reason, but upon inspection of his pockets and finding a receipt for “Belial’s Dry cleaning” quickly got an answer for that, to bad it didn’t have his name... This coat must’ve been his spare…oh well, it STILL looked almost unnaturally stylish! It was white, with yellow lining, the fashionable pockets and hood design the very peek of nether world fashion he was sure! The hood extended down behind him like the long crooked point of an elf’s hat, ending in a tassel that seemed to resemble a sky blue flame.
Yeah…he may not have his memories back, but the boy was quite sure now that he was at least awesome! He gave another childishly content smile to himself, before turning back about towards the bizaare landscape.
Now…where the heck WAS he?
WHO the heck was he?
“Hello!?” Silence. “Is anyone there?!” still no reply…
The boy gave a slightly exasperated sigh. This was just his luck, he somehow couldn’t help feeling…
Still, from the back of his mind, a distant voice seemed to fill him with determination.
Stand up, stand tall, and move forward, never back! Even if you should find yourself stepping back, it must still only be in your path to move forward ever still…Only then will you truly be able to call yourself a man!
While the boy could see that quite plainly that he WASN’T a man, and was, in fact, just a young boy, these words, though their context was lost with the rest of his memories, seemed to have a strong effect on him, filling him with a sudden iron will, as though a respect ingrained deeper then even his memories of it burned within him. With a set expression on his childish features, both hands going into the front pockets of his coat in what felt a natural pose, the amnesiac boy began to head off over the mountains of discarded junk, his eyes combing every which way for some sign of life, or at the very least something familiar, hell, he’d settle for something familiar.
How in the netherworld had he even GOTTEN here? What sort of place WAS this? It looked like the universes junkyard.
He twitched slightly, if this was someone’s way of saying he was garbage, he was gonna kick their a**!
“Geez…what the heck sort of weirdo would make a place like this anyway?” he stood now at the top of a particularly sizable pile, his eyes stretching off to infinity over the endless plains of junk. “It’s like…it never ends…” his iron resolve seemed to waver slightly, before pure stubbornness returned it.
“Tcht…man…where the heck IS this place!?”
“Will you be quiet already?! Can’t you see SOME people are trying to waste away!!”
The boy jumped slightly, nearly slipping and sliding down the face of the mountain of junk, only to catch himself at the last moment, looking around startled.
“H-hello? Who’s there?”
“Argh!” the voice sounded aggravated. “Down HERE idiot.”
The boy blinked, looking straight down, before jumping once more in surprise. “W-what the!?” he immediately jumped back on reflex, looking down at what he’d taken purely to be a pile of trash, only now realizing that there was a face wedged amidst it.
The face seemed…familiar…somehow…REALLY familiar.
Hey! Desco is TOO a final boss and isn’t in any way adorable! Take it back!
The boy’s head was hurting again, causing him to wince slightly. “You…do I…know you?”

Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 9 Experience: 207/500 Hp: 144 Cp: 234 MHp: 117 Dodge Bonus: 20 Training: Martial perfection! Fear the power of the fist! (Part 8 ) Taijutsu: 0 DC: Always ten higher than skill Roll: 10 or higher to count Train: 9/10 ((Length of a Ten post, just fill in the following rolls, total 7, so extra lines here.)) This was most certainly not getting any simpler. He struggling to keep fighting with every turn of the page, and the blows from his clone may have been dulled but they were piling up. Still…he was starting to react better, his body seemed like it was reacting more naturally now after a time of reading…and he supposed the at rather bleak beginning of the story was a bit of an eye catcher. The face of the person that seemed to be buried up to the chin in the universe’s biggest pawnshop selection was stoic in appearance, her eye’s, while large and the purest shade of dark violet, iris’s were narrowed and slitted in a manner far sharper then even what he’d seen of his own. Her gaze was jaded and listless, a stone like expression across the girl’s facade clearly leaving no room for levity even as she glared up at him buried up to her face. Her hair, bobbed in that same familiar style, was a faded dark blue which oddly complimented her almost ashen skin tone, a rather attractive pair of budding horns growing on either side of her forehead, the center of which was adorned by a single blue gem that was clearly meant to resemble an eye. Man…now he was seriously getting that wave of de ja vu…
One of the girl’s large pointed ears wiggled slightly at him in what might have been a sign of annoyance. “Hmph…of course you do you idiot! You mean you actually forgot me? Just how stupid ARE you? Who forgets someone who tried to kill you!?”
The boy blinked, taking this news rather well considering, merely blinking cluelessly. “You tried to kill me? Really? What for?”
“What do you mean what for?!” the girl actually looked indignant now, a vein appearing on her forehead. “You seriously forgot?!”
The boy blinked. “Well…yeah…but-“
The girl’s face twitched at this response, anger threatening to take over, until suddenly it seemed to sober, the shadow of sorrow taking hold.
“Tcht…whatever…just be quiet and go away!” the girl turned her head away from him, as though trying very hard to pretend he wasn’t there.
“Wait,” the boy asserted. “I was gonna say that was I can’t even remember who I AM let alone you! Does that mean you know who I am? You know my name?” could his luck really be THAT good?!
The girl scrunched her face slightly, actually opening an eye and looking back at him sidelong. “Pfft, how am I supposed to know? It’s not like you introduced yourself. I’m sure it’s nothing important.”
Now the boy’s face twitched in annoyance. “Hey! It’s my name! Of course it’s important!”
The girl dawned a somewhat snide confidence. “Oh yeah? Then how come you forgot it? If it was so important you’d think at least YOU would remember.” She seemed to take sadistic joy from his exasperation.
“Touche’.” The boy said annoyed, a hand over his face. “Argh, listen,” he put his hands back in his pockets looking down at her more seriously. “Are you sure that you don’t remember anything? Anything about who I am? How would you like it if YOU didn’t know who you were?!”
The girl flinched slightly at this remark, though it was subtle, and her immediate obstinate head turn seemed to hide it effectively. “Hn…” the boy was starting to think she wouldn’t answer, when she looked back at him.
“You…really don’t remember anything?”
The boy shook his head. “Nope. I guess I can kind’ve…feel…something really familiar about you…” the girl shifted slightly, a small frown on her face. “are you sure we enemies?” he raised an eyebrow considering her with an innocent expression. “It…doesn’t seem right for some reason…”
The girl actually looked back at him with that same small frown.
“Hn…whatever…” she seemed bitter for some reason. “If you want to know your name you should check your stats stupid. Did you even forget how to do that?”
The boy looked a little bewildered “Check my…stats?!”
The girl seemed aggravated. “Idiot.” She stated flatly. She looked back up at him and explained it as if it was obvious. “Using the mana network. All mana based entities like demons and angels and the like are able to access the mana network to assess the strength of their fellows…it’s a pretty basic magic skill. Weren’t you supposed to be some hot shot mage or something?”

Kenpou: Samehada Asshuku (Sword Art: Samehada Constriction)
The user guides Samehada to wrap around his target, completely preventing him from moving. Cp: n/a Dice Rolls: 3 Damage: Regular weapon damage. Reflex DC: n/a Requirement: Samehada 20, Chakra Control 30. Training: 3 stages Stage I: Samehada DC 30, Guiding the weapon correctly around a target to prevent as much movement as possible. Stage II: Samehada DC 32, Catching moving targets to wrap Samehada around. Stage III: Chakra Control DC 40, Controlling the chakra from the blade to maximize constriction around the target. Special: *Allows the user to grapple using Samehada. *Roll to initiate grapple is the same as an attack roll. *Rolls to maintain grapple use [(Samehada Cp) / 4] instead of [str mod]. *Every turn the victim is trapped, it is drained of chakra as though it had been struck by the blade.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 1: Training your weapon to wrap around the target at your specific command. DC: 30 -- 40 (increased for training) d20 + Samehada [30] 0/10 (-1 check because of 20 intelligence but increased to 10 for training purposes)
d20 [10] + Samehada [30] = 40 (pass/fail) [01/10]
Hiru had just run away from one of the most awkward encounters of his life with one the Kirigakure jounins. Strangely, she was one he had very seldom seen before, a fact that was twice as surprising given what was very apparently her extremely expansive personnality. Stopping for a moment to catch his breath, Hiru realized he had fleed to his old training ground, the Kirigakure Shoreline.
d20 [02] + Samehada [30] = 32 (pass/fail)
Stopping for a moment, he breathed in the fresh air from the sea. The unique aroma triggered a reminiscence of various exercises he had done here in the past, both alone or with his sensei. He looked a bit further off to the the coast and remembered how long and arduous had been his training for his water gliding jutsu, which was to this day his signature move. He would one day need to refine that technique, but that would be for a later occasion.
d20 [19] + Samehada [30] = 49 (pass/fail) [02/10]
All these memories made Hiru feel somewhat nostalgic of these peaceful and lonely training days, and he thought he could use this solitude to work on his swordsmanship a bit. He had spent the last few years working on his skills with his Samehadamaku bo staff, unaware of the honour he would be bestowed to be named the wielder of the true, legendary Samehada by his clansmates.
d20 [14] + Samehada [30] = 44 (pass/fail) [03/10]
Now, he definately needed to devellop his technique with this very particular, unique weapon, but he had started nearly from scratch just a little over a few months ago. Luckily, he had had the opportunity of sparring with the Sameru Springs Tortoises over this period, which had allowed him to get much better. Still, he needed to devellop his abilities even further if he wanted to use the full potential of this strange sword, if it could even be called a sword.
d20 [06] + Samehada [30] = 36 (pass/fail)
Hiru pulled the blade from its wrappings and swung it around a few times, just as a quick warmup. This blade was very hard to control due to its massive weight and the fact that it did have a will of its own, which became even stronger as it gorged on chakra. In its case, training with the blade was to be used in its litteral sense, as it was more like training with a partner than a weapon.
d20 [12] + Samehada [30] = 42 (pass/fail) [04/10]
More and more, Hiru addressed Samehada at various times during the day as to build a relationship with it. He'd even feed it extra amounts of his chakra in addition to what it was passively draining from him to keep it satisfied. He had noticed as time went by that the weapon reacted to these interactions and that this particular bond reflected very significantly in his effectiveness at wielding it.
d20 [08] + Samehada [30] = 38 (pass/fail)
Indeed, what was initially just a large blunt object to maul people with and shred them in the process had become a weapon that could block incoming jutsu attacks and transform into a flail at his will. Well, at their will would be a more accurate phrasing. Hiru was very aware that there was most likely a lot more to this weapon if he could simply continue to understand it better as their experience grew.
d20 [20] + Samehada [30] = 50 (pass/fail) [05/10]
Recently, Hiru had noticed in combat that Samehada could ark its body to compensate for enemy movement. If it was fairly minor before, he noticed as their bond grew stronger that this independant movement of the blade became more and more noticeable and effective, most likely due to the fact that the blade cared more and more what could happen to its wielder should he lose the fight.
d20 [20] + Samehada [30] = 50 (pass/fail) [06/10]
Hiru wondered if there could maybe be a way for him to harness this unique ability into a combat technique. He had, in the past, been very creative with develloping variations on existing jutsus, both classic and personal ones, but had never really been as effective in personalizing his swordsmanship. Still, all this movement by the blade gave him an idea, it wasn't original, but it would certainly prove useful if it could work.
d20 [16] + Samehada [30] = 46 (pass/fail) [07/10]
Lifting the blade so that it would be pointed straight at a relatively small tree, Hiru started communicating with the weapon to ask it to bend sideways. With excitement, the blade answered its wielder by dancing left and right with wide motions that Hiru had not even yet seen it do in combat. This clearly demonstrated to him that there was much more to Samehada than what he had seen so far, probably even much more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 1: Training your weapon to wrap around the target at your specific command. DC: 30 -- 40 (increased for training) d20 + Samehada [30] 07/10 (-1 check because of 20 intelligence but increased to 10 for training purposes)
d20 [18] + Samehada [30] = 48 (pass/fail) [08/10]
After jiggling around a bit, the blade let Hiru feel that it seemed to know where he was getting at. It slowly curved around the tree's trunk, like a snake wrapping around its prey. The process was very laborious though as it appeared that Samehada was not used to bending to such an extent, or at least it had not done it in a while. It curved awkwardly at times, leaving space between its surface and the tree where it shouldn't.
d20 [04] + Samehada [30] = 34 (pass/fail)
If the problem was barely noticeable to the naked eye, Hiru was very aware of it and knew very well what the consequences of these few millimeters could mean in a live battle situation. Some of these shinobis were master escape artist and could take advantage from any small flaw in this technique to break out and attack him with all they had. He needed to find a way to fix this weakness.
d20 [09] + Samehada [30] = 39 (pass/fail)
Hiru wasn't sure if there even was a solution to this problem. It was clear if he couldn't find it that this technique would prove nearly useless. Still, Hiru calmed down as it was still very early to start panicking. He'd let his weapon take another few shots at an effective wrap before calling this project a failure. He signaled Samehada to return to its passive state so he could resume his training.
d20 [01] + Samehada [30] = 31 (pass/fail)
Once more, he signaled Samehada to slowly work its way around the tree. It was obvious that, this time, the swirl was tighter as it seemed that Samehada covered a noticeably larger part of its victim than it had on the first attempt. This proved extremely promising to Hiru as it clearly demonstrated that there was still room for improvement in his execution and, therefore, hope for the technique itself.
d20 [11] + Samehada [30] = 41 (pass/fail) [09/10]
Hiru, noticing there were still a few gaps where an opponent could wiggle in in Samehada's coil, thought he'd try a different approach. Instead of simply circling guiding the blade around the target, he commanded Samehada to pull, as to tighten its grip it had on the tree it was currently attached to. With one small chakra impulse, the blade contracted, eliminating any spare room a victim would have in its grasp.
d20 [10] + Samehada [30] = 40 (pass/fail) [10/10]
This attempt proved twice as succesful as anticipated, as this particular motion even had the effect of pushing Samehada's razor sharp scales into the target's body, making any escape even more complex and painful than it would have been through simple constrictive strength. It was now clear to Hiru that this was definitely a technique worth investing some time and training into, and that could prove extremely effective in combat.

Sakakibara Naru strolled down to the seaside. As she came to a stop she stretched her lithe body out and suppressed a small yawn. It seemed that she wasn't the only one with the idea to train here. Sure, the grove was peaceful and pretty idyllic, but it got old pretty fast. At least with the seaside there were more things to see. Plus it was always good to be aware of the comings and goings at Kirigakure Harbour in Naru's line of work.
The sight of one of her acquaintances going at it on a poor tree pulled her focus for a moment. "Looking good, Hoshigaki-kun!" she called out over to him before pulling out her own scroll. What she was doing was probably child's play to him. Let it be said that Naru didn't have a good grasp of the basics. Well, this was what her training session today would address...
[+4 to Hiru's next attempt]
Naru pulled out a scroll she had made a copy from the archives in her unit. Although it was kind of a surprise that they even had it, since it was a basic genin-level jutsu that she just never learned. As expected from the intelligence unit, she supposed.
Her first step would be to... 'generate syrup from water inside the user's mouth'. Not the most helpful of advice. Naru had no idea whether she was supposed to summon water inside her mouth (not that she had much knowledge of the summoning arts anyway), synthesise it from the chakra at her core and bring it up, or... was the spitting even necessary? Well, she would just have to try all her ideas out.
d20 [8] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 1/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 380 - 3 = 377
Naru's first plan was to pull her chakra out and create the best possible syrup she could. She would worry about getting it out of her mouth later. It was a pretty inelegant way of getting the job done too. Why spit the syrup out when you could manipulate it with your bare hands?
Soon she had a blob of water suspended between her hands and she played with it for a while to warm up. The whole point of the jutsu was to trap people in a sticky substance, so she had to make it thick. She tried to put more chakra into it to fatten the liquid out a bit, but it didn't seem to work.
d20 [3] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 2/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 374
Naru next tried manipulating the essence of the water's chakra to make it more viscous. She was pretty much blundering here, but trial and error was a good learning tool. She fiddled with all sorts of things that had many different effects, from changing the temperature to the colour and even the acidity of the water. Finally she found a way she could "gloopify" (crass, but it was the best description) the water slightly. Though it seemed to work (she spread the water over a poor crab that happened to pass by at that moment), something about the whole process struck her as off. It shouldn't be that difficult.
d20 [15] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 3/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 371
It was only a short while before the crab managed to free itself and shuffled off with what seemed like an indignant strut. Yeah, there was definitely something off about the hands-on technique. Maybe there really was something to the summoning the syrup in her mouth thing. She had an idea of why it could be the case but she didn't quite want to dwell on the specifics of it. Well, whatever works. She returned to her other idea, dragging her chakra up from her core through her oesophagus and throat and shivering as her cold chakra wormed through. Hopefully she would get used to that feeling. As it travelled she tried her best to speed the process by synthesising it into water. Eventually, her mouth was full of water.
d20 [16] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 4/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 368
It occurred to Naru that she didn't exactly want other people seeing her hacking up some water. With that thought in mind she resolutely turned away from the other two people training in the area. She really should have thought this through. After that she tried to create the syrup using the water in her mouth as a base and her earlier attempts in molding with her fingers as basis. Surprisingly, it was much easier than it had been outside of her mouth. Chakra molding with her mouth and tongue was pretty weird, but not unpleasant... and maybe even kind of fun. She had a theory as to why but really didn't want to think about such things. She got enough of them during work hours after all. Making a hand seal to provide a second focus point, she expelled the syrup with as much dignity as she could. It practically glopped onto the sea and was actually quite embarrassing. Naru could only hope nobody had seen that. If they had... she would be forced to stick around and make sure she gained something on them.
d20 [17] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 5/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 365
Suiton: Mizuamenabara Cp: 30 Stage I: Chakra Control DC 26 Generating syrup from water inside the user's mouth. Stage II: Chakra Control DC 28 Controlling the spread of the syrup. Stage III: Ninjutsu DC 24 Increasing stickiness of the syrup to maximum viscosity.

So far so good. She should probably have another go at it just to make sure she had the technique down before moving onto the next step of learning the technique. Making the hand seal (and still turned away from Hiru and Byakuran), Naru concentrated and brought up some more chakra to her throat. She remembered to warm it this time for her convenience. No reason why she couldn't synthesise warm instead of cold water, right? Her throat didn't clutch this time as the water passed through, and it only took Naru a few moments to create a syrup that she let out. She'd have to work on that technique as well. There was nothing quite like an unrefined execution of techniques for ruining first impressions.
d20 [6] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 26 Successes: 6/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 362
As she wiped her mouth with a napkin, an idea occurred to her and she couldn't stop a nauseatingly smug smile from appearing on her face. She'd been playing with the water earlier, so its attributes were still fresh in her mind. She'd been able to adjust the temperature to her convenience, so why not taste? Already she was drooling at the thought of caramel or even wine-flavoured syrup that would, as a bonus, hinder her enemies. And she wouldn't even get the calories. Too bad this technique cost chakra to use. There really was no such thing as free lunch.
Making a hand seal one more time, Naru drew up water into her mouth again. The process was getting much easier and smoother each time she did it. Good, because she had a lot of techniques to get through today.

When enough water was in her mouth, she started to fiddle with it. Naturally, with experimentation came mistakes and Naru almost spat the water out as she took a wrong turn somewhere and turned the sourness level of the water way up. She could remember that for the future though, if she wanted to play with acidity... ha! What was she thinking, Naru was never that great at ninjutsu. She quickly reversed her error and made tiny movements from then on. She'd managed to change the taste of the water, so she at least was onto something. Eventually, she found the right method of making it sweet enough to at least mimic the treacle the technique was named after. No dice on the red wine yet though. And this wasn't a pointless endeavour. Naru had already anticipated the reprimands her mentors would give her upon hearing of this embellishment to a technique and had worked out that if she managed to incorporate odours into the syrup, she could potentially hinder her opponents even more with say, the stench of rotten eggs. Though that would mean that she would have to cough that up...

Hiru was somewhat taken by surprise by the sound of a familiar voice cheering him on in what was honestly a somewhat unentertaining training to an observer. He quickly turned to Naru with a big smile, yelling a "Thank you Naru-kun!".
He took this opportunity for a short break as he observed the cherry haired girl practice what had become one of his signature moves. It was clear that her incredible intelligence and her many opportunities to see him use variations of this technique in battle made this training practically a cake walk for her. Still, he thought he'd give her some advice, and take this opportunity to tease her a bit...
Weaving a few hand seals together, he prepared a much weakened variation of his Water Release: Syrup Gunshot technique. In a flash, his mouth filled with syrup as he spat out four high velocity miniature syrup projectiles that splattered against the back of her shirt.
"It's all in the speed of the variation of the viscosity levels Naru-kun! How fast you synthetize the sugar will determine the spread, and shape, of the technique.", he told her with a playful smile.

Stage 2: Catching moving targets to wrap Samehada around. DC: 32 d20 + Samehada [30] 00/09 (-1 check because of 20 intelligence)
d20 [11] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [01/09]
Hiru, now confident he could actually use this technique in battle, realized he had to train in order to be able to use it quickly enough to trap a moving enemy with it. Obviously, no one would stand idly in place whilst a gigantic living blade wrapped itself around him or her. How he would find someone to volunteer to have razor sharp scale plated in his flesh was certainly going to prove a problem though. d20 [08] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [02/09]
He thought for a second about summoning one of the Sameru Springs Tortoises since their thick shell would protect them from the blades, however, for the technique to be useful it needed to wrap around the body and the limbs of its target, and their legs and arms were as vulnerable as a regular human's. Plus this would certainly be far too boring an exercise for them to remain focused on throughout...
d20 [17] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [03/09]
He tried to find a way around it but quickly realized he wouldn't have much of a choice in the matter. He was going to have to make clones, despite the immense investment in chakra this requested. However, it wasn't that dramatic since Samehada would ultimately get all of the spent chakra back as it drained the clones clean throughout the training. Well, if it didn't destroy them first at least....
d20 [17] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [04/09]
Hiru briefly let go of Samehada's handle to weave the hand signs necessary to the formation of the clones. His bond with the weapon had become so great to this point that Samehada did not even fall to the ground, it simply maintained its poisition with its handle pointing towards Hiru's hand until he was done. Once the casting was completed, Hiru spat out five puddles of syrup from which rose five mizuame clones, ready for action.
d20 [10] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [05/09]
All five of the clones nodded as they started running left and right as not to get caught. After analyzing the situation, Hiru ran after his first target, which had started running up a tree. Seeing it was being followed, it started spiraling around it, keeping the tree between itself and Hiru as much as possible but it did not serve him long. Indeed, Hiru had started a reverse spiral motion around the tree which made him come face to face with his prey.
d20 [08] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [06/09]
As soon as he caught up with it Hiru started a slashing motion in its direction. The blade, understanding what Hiru was trying to do, immediately bent around the clone, just as though it had missed it, but quickly constricted around it. The attempt seemed extremely succesful as the clone was now completely immobilized and, very quickly, went back to gelatinous form from the damage caused by the blade's scales.
d20 [12] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [07/09]
Hiru kept on pressing and spotted another clone running near the base of his tree. In one leap, he jumped off the branch and fell right on top of his target while swooping Samehada in its direction. Samehada instantly wrapped once more around the clone like a snake and coiled on itself, squeezing its victim like a grape. After a slight "pop" was heard, the clone fell back to syrup as Samehada licked its lips from the chakra and sugar.
d20 [13] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [08/09]
Hiru then saw one of the clones running off in the distance after seeing two of its partners taken down. In one swift motion, Hiru stretched Samehada like a bullet in the clone's direction. The hilt stretched farther and farther from the force of the throw until it passed right by the clone. As soon as it did, it snapped backwards and quickly covered practically every visible area of the clone's body.
d20 [10] + Samehada [30] = (pass/fail) [09/09]
He then quickly pulled it back towards himself, however, by the time the handle shrunk back to its original size and made its way back to its user, all that was left was a trail of syrup along the ground. Hiru, very satisfied with how the technqie was turning out, thought he'd take a little break while he worked out how he would complete this technique to maximize its combat efficiency. Taking five, he turned his attention back to his partner to see how she was doing.

2+16=18 Success Masaraku's fears were confirmed when she saw Hiru hanging out with some pink haired b***h. It made her want to gag a little, the thought of Hiru on a date. It became apparent that they were training however. She walked passed them and onto the water with her floating cape of water and said, "Sorry Hiru-Chan, but I really can't train anywhere else for this one. I will try not to get in your-OH MY GOD WHATS THAT!" She jumped back as she saw something in the tide. It was just a clump of seaweed on top of a branch, but at a glance it totally looked like a floating body. In her panic, her water curtain had fallen.
12+16=28 Success She looked back to Hiru and said, "Sorry about that. There is some weird kelp floating out there ... But um, I don't really want to be anywhere near the city while I train for this, and I kind of need a lot of water and space." She summoned up a wave in front of her, roughly ten feet tall and twenty feet wide. Having a standing body of water definitely made this easier.
6+16=22 Success She lowered that wave and let it flow to the shore, raising another one that was a little bigger. She marveled at it. How was she supposed to ride this thing? The wave fell and rolled in towards the shore, washing the tide a little higher than normal. She shouted over at Hiru, "See what I mean? Who is your friend? She's cute! You should bring her around more!"
13+16=29 Success Masa raised a third wave as it hit her that the woman was standing right there and knew that Masa thought she was cute. This could not end well. She made the wave bigger and bigger, nearly twice the size of the first one she had raised here. It fell out at the bottom as she let it go. 's**t' she thought, 'I probably just got her all wet too.'

Stage 3: Controlling the chakra from the blade to maximize constriction around the target. DC: 40 d20 + Chakra Control [43] 00/09 (-1 check because of 20 intelligence)
d20 [06] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [01/09]
Now satusfued with his work on catching moving targets with the technique, he knew he needed to move on to the next step of this training: making sure opponents could not easily get free from Samehada's hold once it was initiated. He was certain there were ways to strengthen the grip from his weapon; however, he was currently at an impass in that regard. There could be so many ways of doing this but so few seemed viable...
d20 [04] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [02/09]
Still, the best way for Hiru to gauge the effectiveness of his theories was to put them to execution on a target. He still had two clones running around, somewhere, however, they were far too fragile to practice extensive constrictive strength on. He needed something that could whistand more damage. Luckily, he was in a place where there were hundreds of spiring towers of wood of various resistances which would simply do just fine in that regard.
d20 [12] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [03/09]
Pointing his weapon to a tree, Hiru willed his blade to wrap around it. Again, as soon as it had surrounded the target, Hiru pulled it back on itself, firmly planting its scales into the tree's bark. This was as far as he had gotten in the devellopment of the technique, and that is where he needed to find ways to increase its effectiveness. For the moment, the pain from the scales was the most significant obstacle to this technique's victim's escape, but je knew he needed more.
d20 [11] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [04/09]
Hiru first tried the obvious way, he pulled it back with added strength to get the scales to burrow even deeper into the tree's bark. This seemed to work fairly well at first, however, if he pulled too strong in this particular manner the blade would stop constricting and simplay shave the tree's surface while shrinking back on itself. A vicious maneuver, certainly, but not the effect he was specifically looking for for the moment.
d20 [18] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [05/09]
To add to that motion, he thought he'd try to have the blade's strength focused inwards, even at the cost of reducing the intensity of the implantation of the scales. This adjustement seemed extremely promising as the tree that was currently Hiru's test subject started to have its bark crack from the sheer pressure generated by the weapon. He was deifnitely on the right track, but there was still something missing...
d20 [07] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [06/09]
Hiru then focused on the chakra drain, this would indeed make the blade grow more powerful as it filled its chakra reserves. Starting to get the blade to inhale more chakra from the tree's system, he saw Samehada grow gradually larger, and its constrictive strength grow even stronger, making this technique even more fearsome as it seemed that with every passing moment the victim spent trapped with this technique, it became increasingly difficult to break free form it.
d20 [08] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [07/09]
As the blade grew larger, Hiru focused it to circle more and more around the tree, maximizing the surface Samehada would claw its scales in. This made the grip so much more effective that, soon, not only the bark started cracking but the trunk itself started cracking from the sheer pressure generated by the weapon. After a few seconds, the tree litterally shattered under Samehada's grip, crumbling to the ground.
d20 [06] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [08/09]
Hiru pretty much had this Samehada technique down now, although he wanted to try it on live targets to see its completed version in action. Looking around a bit, he remembered he still had two clones running around. These would indeed do just fine. Of course, he needed to find them first, and it seemed they had gotten quite a head start on him while he was destroying a harmless tree...
d20 [15] + Chakra Control [43] = (pass/fail) [09/09]
Still, Hiru could smell his Mizuame from a mile away. Seeing one in the tree above him who had been observing his training, he stretched the blades handle while hurling it in his target's direction. The poor clone barely had time to move... Hiru, now with a trapped bunshin in his grasp, swung backwards and slammed it against the final clone who, it appears, had stopped out of curiosity less than 30 meters from Hiru's training location.

Naru savoured the sweet taste of caramel for just a bit longer before spitting it out - elegantly, of course. Her reverie was broken when she felt four thunks into her back. With the way they stuck to and hung off her shirt, she didn't even have to feel the projectiles with her fingers to know that it was the jutsu she was performing, so who else but the person who'd made it one of his trademarks? Still, he was a pretty keen kid. She should thank him. He was probably just trying to help. His advice was pretty useful.
She turned to him with a frown and folded arms, but after a few seconds of holding them she loosened up. "Thanks Hoshigaki-kun," she said. "As expected of the ninjutsu master," her lips curved up in a sly smile, "sempai. Hehe."
At that point another Hoshigaki girl, judging from her blue skin, came running up with some choice banter for Hiru. Naru would be the first one to admit that teasing the little (OK, maybe not little) guy was pretty fun though. The girl proceeded to exert a form of mastery over the waves that Naru still couldn't acheive at her age. Hoshigakis and ninjutsu experts were special... wait, could it be? Naru had heard of a Hoshigaki genius graduating from the academy 2 or 3 years ago now. Perhaps. No, it was probably her. And she thought she was cute.
She had turned back to her scroll with a smirk when a massive wave of water splashed onto her, soaking her from head to toe. Well, at least it got the syrup off. Training with Hoshigakis was quite the experience... Hiru's method of delivery could have been a bit less messy (though it was so typical of him), but what he said made sense. Naru decided to see what a relatively quick synthesis and expulsion of syrup would be like.
