“Burns” he replied simply. “When I was younger there was an explosion inside my house. The only reason I’m still alive is because I was shielded... they weren’t so lucky of course.”Tegi thought about it a while longer. “Maybe they were lucky though. They didn’t have to put up with all the horrible things that happen after being burned…you probably don’t know about those ‘treatments’ though….”. He hugged his knees to his chest and spaced out a bit, still very much bothered by what those ‘treatments’ were like.

In truth that was the place that his fear was born. Of course the initial burns hurt, and the loss of his mother who shielded him hurt, but nothing was more painful than getting scoured. Their stern faces and the command to ‘settle down’ while they tore at his wounds was enough proof that they just didn’t care. Every morning he would fight with them and scream until his voice was hoarse, but they always ended up getting their way and taking him to that cold room with the steely, cold appliances. Afterward as they bandaged they would always say that they were done for the day, but Tegi took it as a lie. They were never done. They were never satisfied. Every day it was the same unbearable experience repeated, and from that point on it was unanimous that NO doctor should be trusted.

Tegi unknowingly started to shake a little, but whether it was from having his jacket off or remembering such horrible things was undecipherable.
Hell it could have even been from blood loss, but he wasn’t thrilled about checking on the cut on his arm. Either being stressed out would cause it to act out again or he would see the possibility of needing stitches and cause the earlier option to happen.

Aito looked down at the new comer and chuckled bitterly when he realized it was raven. Just my f*****g luck. he said.

Upon feeling a hand on his shoulder Tegi rolled out of the way and glared, readying his branch as it whipped about. The deep seeded delusion was made manifest, and as far as he could tell she was one of the heartless beings within the traumerei. This time however he wasn’t going to be the one in agony. This time he wasn’t so defenseless. But something seemed off to him: the cold sterility of the hospital was slightly warmer than he remembered. It was also a bit more fragrant. Tegi grabbed at his bangs in frustration. What the hell was going on? He felt like he couldn’t breathe, like the world was clenching his throat closed. Though he concluded that he wasn’t in the hospital after all he felt that same terror. Another panic attack… He began to take deeper breaths in an attempt to make it subside faster.

As Tegi began to relax the illusion began to ebb away and he returned to his cheerful disposition. “Wow, how long was I spaced out like that?” he laughed. “And… how’d I get over here?... ”. As he recalled he was under the tree with his arm wrapped, but now he was several feet away, the make shift wrapping discarded in the space between. Oh this isn’t good… There were more darts in the tree than before. Tegi flopped down and looked from his arm to the tree and then back again. There was no mistaking that they came from his direction. Surveying the rest of the area revealed a huge crater in the ground and the other deadman being carried away unconscious. Tegi looked back up at Retra in absolute confusion .“Ummm… what the hell just happened?”
