"Mmmm..." A massive figure rolled over in his slumber, having camped underneath the stars without even a blanket. His attire was simple, there to only protect him from indecency, even if he couldn't wrap his mind around what that word seemed to mean. "In...Indecenty..." He mumbled, as he arose and held his head, groggily spilling out his thoughts through his mumbling. Words had been on his mind lately, taking up most of the days in his wonderings. The Beroc children that he had played with taught him much, a fact that he found no reason to be ashamed of. This world of theirs, it was new. New and exciting..But confusing. That troubled him. These Beroc had their own strange ways. Fangs of iron, trinkets of gold that they passed around for what they needed. And the words! Oh the words...There were words for everything! Words to replace words! Words for different people, just as it was different for Laguz as well.
But like the children told him...If he wanted to learn to speak, he needed to speak! His friends were right, there were people out there. And things called 'jobs'. People got together at Jobs and talked while they worked, according to the children. The thought brought a smile to him, work was always satisfying. Whitling, building, hauling...There was pleasure to be found in hard work. And people! There were people there, words to speak and words to learn! Maybe they would find his words good...
And now her was here, this "Job fare" as he heard the travelers say on his way through the forest. A bow was presented to the guards at the gate, something that he had learned from his stay in Beroc towns. 'Manners' as they called it. Such a strange way to say hello...Though he towered over most, he found himself engulfed into the confusion that was the crowds that flooded the streets. People with places to go, things to do. It was all so..Strange. Most didn't take the time to greet another, or even stop to answer.
"Uh...Help? Help Mordecai? Where is Job? I heard that Jobs were at the Fare..."

Vaida's spear slammed into the side of Wallace's head and knocked him off charge. He still hit her in the stomach though and managed to cling on to her, trying to drag her down with him. The only thing preventing it was the foot planted firmly behind her. As he clung, Wallace happened to grab right onto Vaida's bosom. A vein popped and her face scrunched as she looked down at his bald head. "Augh, infuriating little--!!" With spear still in hands, she lifted it above her and banged the bottom of it down on his head and then kneed him in the gut (being generous) to get him off of her. As she shoved him off, she backed away. She held her stomach for a moment, squeezed, and then placed her hand back on the staff.
"What the hell was that?!" she shouted. "You don't drop your weapon in the heat of battle! You don't come charging at somebody when they have something to stick or pound you with! You know better than that!!" Vaida spat on the ground in front of him. "This isn't nap time, teapot. Pick up your weapon and get back on your feet!" She held up the staff and pointed it at Wallace. "I'm not done with you yet."

A prince of a country forced to come to some lowly job fair. Despicable. His skills were almost a legend. He could outdo almost any other archer in the land. Well it was desperate times. And they called for desperate measures. He would only take in whatever job suited him and his unique skills.
"I believe I'm here to look for a job. Where would I locate the best of the best around here?" He approached several people asking them all the same question. He would not settle for less than perfection. Hmm... he would just have to keep asking till he found who was the best.

Wallace
Wallace hit the ground as Vaida slammed her knee into him. He quickly rolled away towards his staff and got to his feet, using his staff to pull himself up. "Ha! That was exhilarating! I would think you had softened with age if you were done with me! Let's continue!" Letting out a loud grunt he swung his staff with both hands in a hard diagonal chop so that it would land where her neck met her right shoulder.

Vaida adjusted her hands, angled her staff back and then raised it to block Wallace's. The strength behind his swing forced her foot back in order to hold him back. It also gave Vaida more leverage so that she could push his staff back and follow up by jabbing the bottom of her staff at his chest. As he stepped back, Vaida continued her assault by swinging her staff across at his head once more.

~Far better it is to have a stout heart always and suffer one's share of evils, than to be ever fearing what may happen.~ ~By the honorable name of Caelin, we will never fail! You’ll taste the power of our knights, like cold steel in your mouth!~ Wallace
Stepping back, Wallace shifted the grip on his staff so that his hands were farther apart while keeping it in front of him so he could block an attack more easily. When he blocked Vaida's next attack he angled his staff so that her's was bounced over his head, leaving her open to an attack while her staff continued on its swing. Wallace quickly lunged towards Vaida and swung horizontally at a point just below her ribs, his lunge ensuring that she would have a difficult time dodging the powerful attack.

I ain't forgettin' anyone, and I also ain't regrettin' anything.x - [Leon] - x Paperwork here, and more paperwork there... Leon had gotten so caught up in it! By the time he looked up again he noticed all the new additions to his rank had gone their separate ways! "Sheesh, what's the matter with me? Am I losin' my edge so soon?" Leon thought as he sighed, stacking the papers. He sorted them out in the pile that already had his signatures on them.
It was then that the young man in black clothes came back. "Eager, are ya, young man? I remember those days." Leon said to Saifer, chuckling. He had to think. What could he have him do right away, where it wouldn't look like it was just busywork? Folding his hands together, Captain Vatara came up with what would hopefully be a solution to the cloaked one's boredom.
"As ya know, I can't go turnin' ya loose on the streets just like that. It ain't how we work. However, thanks to our short numbers, I really dun' have anyone watchin' my back anymore..." Leon turned to him, grinning. "What do ya say? Ya can spend the day here at the booth an' help us out with the recruitin'. An' who knows? Ya might even get to know me." Normally, he would not trust his back to someone who he just met, but there was something he liked about Saifer already. Maybe Captain Vatara saw a bit of himself in him. x - [Watch Captain] - x
We gotta carry on, ya know? It's what they woulda wanted! -------- These gems, look at how they shine!● + Leena + ●
It had been a long time since Leena had come out into the open market like this. A very long time. She had heard much news of the war, and the terrible losses it brought to all of Learania. She remembered the personal sting it brought to her as if it were yesterday.
"Was what I've done not been enough for them? Is it because I chose the path of peace...?" she lamented, as she walked down the streets, lost in deep reflection. If anyone noticed her, Leena did not notice them now. She was trying to sort out how to go forward, if there was even a way to do so. Leon had found his way, and as a friend and ally of him and the Watch, she too had to find a way.
When Leena finally decided to look up, she saw a sight for sore eyes. Not too far from her was a forge, not like the one in her shop, but a bigger one that could be used to make weapons. A true blacksmith's forge... it drew her closer, reminding her of the days when she saw her own father's forge, and the "magic" he worked with it. Coming up to the man close by it, an idea hatched in her mind. That was what she needed to be of a further help to her allies...
"Excuse me, sir. You're a blacksmith, right? Have you ever thought of joining your armory alongside a shop?" asked Leena politely. "My business has been very good, although unfortunately, it's because of the war..."

Saifer Griimro Saifer smiled nervously and nodded as Leon finally responded to him. 'Eager...right. I just want to see just what the hell i'll be doing to earn my coin...' he thought, second thoughts still swimming in his head. It was natural for him to doubt, and it had already been a leap to join an organization like this. Yet, something in him wanted to see what there was to a 'job'.
...And hell, if he could keep doing what he's doing with the lockpicks and purse-snatching whilst having food and shelter supplied to him, all the better. He was admittedly only a skilled thief and a barely decent swordsman, so he'd probably be useless patrolling the streets. Besides, he was a kid in a too-big dirty coat...who would take him seriously? He wondered if the Watch man had accepted him only because they really needed people - which did fall in line with what he had just said about them being short-handed. Still, the Watch man probably had accepted him with some use in mind for the boy, so for now he contented himself with that thought. However, it seemed that that kind of work wasn't what the person behind the desk had in mind for the moment...or if it was what he had had in mind, this was going to be a real boring job.
"H-huh?" blurted Saifer, surprised at the invitation to join the table. The guy had called him out on being a thief the moment he'd joined up and yet he wanted Saifer to sit next to him? Was the Watch man tempting him to try something? Before he knew it, though, he had nodded and timidly come around to the other side of the table. With his gaze fixed firmly onto the table, he slowly sat himself down on the chair. He knew and hated the fact that he looked rather awkward at the moment.

He wondered if the new guy was just a bit shy because he was new, or if he had heard of the former Captain's reputation of drawing a sword and asking questions later. Hopefully it was the former. Leon wouldn't want to think that anyone saw him as his late leader. He was much different, in many ways.
"So." Leon began, trying to start a new conversation. "Where are ya from, huh? I dun' believe I've seen ya around much before."

Saifer Griimro Saifer attempted a polite nod in Leon's direction, but somehow still avoided staring into his eyes. He usually never had to bother socializing or anything of that sort, but he'd known in the back of mind as even now he was reminded he was no good at it. In fact, despite having tried to acknowledge Leon, he had barely heard a word the guy had said. It was just awkward for him not to be in the shadows, even though he'd just signed up for a city Watch post. He could still content himself with the fact that while, yes, he did feel uncomfortable for the moment, the reward surely was worth it. After all, his whole life had been spent in poverty because there was no alternative - now there was.
Saifer did hear Leon the second time, though. Despite not really willing to look him directly in the eye, Saifer did look up at the people in front of him to appear as if he was scanning for prospective Watch members...even though it was probably pretty obvious that he wasn't. "I'm...not really from anywhere you'd have heard of," he said as clearly as he could manage, trying not to mutter under his breath for fear of seeming strange. He was more self-conscious than he'd thought prior to this, really.
What he said was true, though...not one person he'd questioned in Learania had ever heard of Elibe. Thus, none of them knew his homeland of Bern or how some freak cosmic rift had somehow brought him to this new land, alone and scared.

"A general? At your young age? That's very impressive Amelia, and yes it truly is a pleasure to meet you." He smiled at her it was a wide grin that crinkled the skin under his eyes and flashed a row of white teeth. "So when not leading brave men into battle towards glorious victory, what do you do Amelia?"
Jack was trying to be friendly, he didn't know that this woman's husband had just recently died, if he did he might have tried a different approach. It wasn't easy keeping up the reputation of the friendliest man in the world! He walked along beside the small general, hands balled into his pockets. He could tell already that her shell would be a hard one to crack, but not impossible.
Never impossible.

Amelia couldn't help but let out a sheepish chuckle at his flattery, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly as she turned her gaze away and back to the street. "A-Ah... yes. I've... had a lot of battle experience back home. It translated well here, I suppose, and I guess... Rath just figured it was better put to use under the guild ranks?" She raked her hair off of her face and away from her eyes, but let it flop back over her forehead and eyebrows as soon as she moved her hand away.
"So when not leading brave men into battle towards glorious victory, what do you do Amelia?"
Her thoughts briefly turned to the men who had died at the siege. She shook it off, shutting her eyes momentarily before opening them wide. "Ah? Oh... I live at the guild manor." She looked back to Jack, offering him a smile in return. It was wide and showed her teeth, small and decently white, perhaps slightly crooked but naturally so, nothing worrying. But it didn't touch her eyes, leaving them distant and vaguely sad. Amelia's gaze was turned to her gloves after just a few moments; hopefully not enough time for Jack to analyze her expression. "When I'm not overseeing something or another or filling out stacks of paperwork, I'm performing upkeep on the manor. Repairs, replacements, things like that. It's kind of relaxing, actually, carpentry and all of the skills and tools you need for handyman-ery. Surprisingly good at it, too."
She looked up at the sky now, letting out a long breath in a whoosh of air. The General was still not looking at Jack again. "Other than that...? I don't know, really. I'm always so busy with work and..." Taking care of Aisen.
She was silent for about a full minute, face unreadable. If Jack was able to look closely, he might have seen ghosts of pain across her eyes. But otherwise she was neutral, carefully so, like the corners of a handkerchief tucked into the center and tied together, hiding away its contents. When they finally reached the little drink ship, she removed a thin billfold from one glove. It was a bit hard to reach pockets with hip guards on, after all. "...That I don't have much time to do anything else, really."
Amelia approached the door to hold it open for Jack. "What do you want?"

Joshua took the writing utensil and quickly filled out the forms, his writing was very effeminate, for in addition to teaching him sword play Carlyle had been taught him basically everything he knew, and the man would accept nothing less than perfection whether writing or fighting. Carlyle had been more than a father to him once The King had died, this had only made his betrayal hurt worse, Joshua couldn’t even be certain anymore his father had really died of natural causes, the thought that maybe Carlyle had been behind that too made him shiver. Once he’d finished filling out everything that seemed necessary he handed the form back to FD with a smile. "A week huh? Sounds good, hopefully the pay is good, my pouch has been a little light lately." He winked at the dragon before turning around and leaning back on the table with his elbows to steady him. In a casual manner he studied the crowd... and nearly choked when he saw someone he recognized.
"Well, well!" He exclaimed, nudging Ephraim in the side, "Would you look at that! Innes of Frelia!" Joshua pushed off the table and walked up behind the Prince, Innes and L'Arachel had been the only two of the royals to have kept their relatives alive during the war and last he heard neither had taken their respective thrones. So while Joshua and Ephraim where Kings, Innes was likely still a Prince, the swordsman had a feeling that would really get the poor man’s goat, Innes had always had a cool head but a fiery passion, even after Joshua had admitted to... fixing... the coin tosses he'd continued to play the games.
Now Joshua approached him from behind, "You seem like a man who enjoys a good bet, care to toss a coin with me, Your Highness?"

Ephraim kindly took the pen from FD and started to fill out his application for a new job. Man, when was the last time had to write something? Books and studies weren't exactly his favorite thing to do so he often slacked off about it. Having both Lyon and Eirika scold him...and then Father McGregor. Boy, he never heard the end of it. After filling in the last part, Ephraim handed the finished documents back to FD. Moments after, Joshua suddenly nudged him on the side and pointed out that Innes, Prince of Frelia had joined the fray.
He took a bit to register that another person from Magvel was here. Finally, he stood up and walked over to the other two. "Its been a while, Innes" The lancer greeted with a smile. Knowing Innes though..probably won't like that Renais's king was being friendly. Ephraim couldn't understand why, but it wasn't like he minded having a 'rival'...even if Innes IS considering Ephraim himself to be his self-proclaimed rival. It was fun honestly. All those matches back in Magvel that Ephraim didn't know about. He still doesn't know the reason behind it.....actually....he still didn't understood why Innes hated him in the first place but according to Tana it wasn't that sort of hatred.
Just then, Joshua offered to gamble with the poor prince. The lancer by this point facepalmed. He heard the stories between these two. Joshua, desert king here conned poor Frelia's prince of all his money because he cheated a game. "Innes, I'd say no. You're just going to lose your money again like last time. He's got the game fixed still" pointing to the red-head just as he said that.

Excuse me, sir. You're a blacksmith, right? Have you ever thought of joining your armory alongside a shop? What's that? Turning around, he noticed that someone else who seemed to have the look of a forger approached him. She was even wanting to work with him? Well that would be one way to learn about the people here in this world.
My business has been very good, although unfortunately, it's because of the war... Huh? There had been a war going on? So that explains why there was so much construction going on. "It would be an honor to work with you. After all I'm still fairly new to this place." He extended his hand with a smile towards Leena. "The name's Enailios Liadon. Figure we will need to know each other's names if we are to work together. To answer your question earlier, I am a blacksmith. I've been working on this profession for seven years now."
Well things were looking up for this newcomer after all. He had someone who was gonna come back later for a commission, and now he was getting a partnership. He could get used to this place...wherever this place was.
