Another tree fell! Sheeki gave Mei an appreciative smile. Another one he didn't have to deal with; his fingers were still (figuratively) crossed. "The tree didn't see it coming. I think it was too drunk to see in front of him, but that was pretty impressive Mei."
Oh the shaaaaaaaaaaaaame. You coward Sheeki. You coward.

The other trees that appeared were tough! Colette felt lucky, or as lucky as one can feel after being assaulted, that she had met some other variety. This journey would definitely not be an easy one if things like this were waiting for them, and they had only just started!
Colette nodded as Belladonna explained, and she let out an enlightened "Ooh." The ghoul was quite social, so it was understandable someone was probably worrying about her somewhere. It probably would have come to Colette's realization sooner if she had someone else worrying over her, or even someone for her to worry about.
She was caught off guard when Belladonna asked to trade numbers. Colette didn't think she did anything particularly interesting to make someone want to keep in contact with her, so she was confused, but she nodded again, "That'd be good," and informed Bella of what her number was. In turn, she reached in her bag for the skellphone she brought along so she could add Belladonna. This was probably the first number she would have, and Colette didn't think she would even use it at all this trip, so the power was low. She didn't really feel a need to charge it if she wasn't going to use it after all. The high amount of joy and little fear of this place didn't help any either, but she hoped it would last.
The Reaper looked at the only tree left and Igneous, hoping she would be okay fighting it, before turning back to Bella and agreeing, "And it is probably a good idea to get moving as soon as we can before anymore joyous trees show up."

At least as an owl, Julian was a bit better suited to the cold than he was in the clothes he had brought. Why hadn't they told them what kind of weather to dress for? Sure, there were some that wouldn't mind, but he was pretty sure he wasn't the only one that was at least a little chilled.
He shook the snow from his feathers and hopped back over to his pile of lights. He was big enough to carry them in either form without much problem.
Before he could do much else, the trees started attacking... Well, attacking was probably a strong word to use, especially in concern with the drunk one, but it was attacking nonetheless. Great, not only was he randomly shifting, but now when he was an owl, it wasn't even safe to fly up into the trees.
She was a ghoul and and one he didn't know at all, but Julian felt sorry for the rabbit-ghoul. She'd taken a beating and was in the same predicament as he was, shifting back and forth into a much smaller shape. Only hers was much worse that his. At least he was a predator.
He hopped over to Alessa and Mandy, a strange mixture of hopping and flapping, bringing his lights with him. If the trees could attack at any moment, he wasn't about to leave his "weapon" behind. Once there, he gave the rabbit his most contrite look and gave her a little pat with one wing, not really able to do much else comforting-wise. All of his calls sounded somewhat threatening.

She had no idea what the heck was going on. Every time she turned around, there was ANOTHER tree attacking someone in her group. It worried her because they hadn't traveled very far at all. What would be in store for them as they became closer to their destination? The minions of Joy were many and they were strong but they did not know the power of the Krumm car. She was sure that they could take anything that came their way.
"Everyone is doing great," she complimented. "We'll show them that we can dominate Joy even without our Fear and abilities. We will show them how strong we are!" Of course, they could have just been extremely lucky so far...

Normally Alessa would reject any sort offer for being carried, but in all honesty...she was pooped. If she'd had more energy she'd have been able to keep up with everyone, since she could easily run on top of the snow as opposed to wading through it, but this had left her rather down for the count. It helped, though, that Mandy was offering. Somehow she got the impression that she knew better than to do odd cuddling or other such things, probably because she smelled vaguely of an animal Alessa didn't recognize. Plus she'd probably put her down when she was ready to walk again. "Normally I'd say no...but maybe just for a little while?" She passed Mandy a sideways glance. Sometimes exhaustion won out over pride.
"It's okay," Alessa said, twitching her ear sand looking over in Sheeki's direction with her round teal eyes. "I don't really expect anyone to heal me. I'll be fine. Thanks though!" She then offered a smile smile to Belladonna, which may have been hard to see. Well, at least one of them had energy...perhaps excess amounts of it. "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!"
"Yeah, you show that stupid tree!" She called briefly at Mei. She didn't say much else, though, not wanting to attract too much attention in case the ghoul wanted to...uh, play with her ears again. Yeah.
She nearly jumped as she saw an owl come over, before she realized it was a student. Relieved, but still a little shaken, her ears dropped and she smiled sheepishly at the owl as he patted her. "Uh...thanks?" She assumed it was supposed to be comforting. She found it hard to be comforted by an owl, but hey, there were worse things. Like that tree.

Hazel sighed as she followed a small group, things were attacking and they seemed to do a good job. It was a relief really, but of course how could Halloween town not win....Well besides not having their FEAR and all, but whatever. She held her Christmas Wreath close as she stayed in sight on the group.

"Wait!"
Alwine hopped through the snow (not quite literally like Alessa, but the snow was deep and Alwine was a clumsy ghost).
"Wait, Mandy! I want to--- oomph."
It's rather hard to describe a headless ghost as faceplanting, so I suppose I should go ahead and say that Alwine neckplanted into the snow. After a moment of silence, Alwine held up her bell (while the rest of her was still in the snow).
"I'm going to heal Alessa! I'm sorry if it inconveniences you..."
And so she rang her bell and healed 5 of Alessa's HP.

Alessa was sure lucky that the tree had distracted her at the time. No doubt, she would have tugged and pulled at her little ears, as she would one of her toys.
Mei gave a look of question as Simone mentioned the professor aboard the train. "Professor? What professor?" Mei had been fast asleep when everything had happened dealing with the professor, so this was all news to her. Hearing the battle between Igneous and the other tree continue, she heaved a huff. "Come on! You can do it! Take that b*****d down!"
Hopefully as soon as this tree was gone, the group could escape from this dreaded forest. She had enough of all of this JOY. "Oh--um, thanks." She murmured to Sheeki, though, she didn't even predict that ending. After all, it just happened by fluke.
Gaze shifting to Rain, she wondered if they had figured out which route they would be traveling. "What path are we taking anyways?" Seeing as the ghoul was the leader of the group, she figured that Rain would have the answer to this. Whatever path they took, would be tedious and tiring, especially thanks to the damage dealt on her porcelain body.

Oh! Colette almost forgot she even had the Carol of the Bells, which was amazing since it jingled every step she took. Alwine's use of hers had reminded the ghoul she could help with the injured, and she gave herself a mental kick since she was too slow. She settle for the fact it was good to save her uses for emergencies later on. It would certainly be bad to run out too soon. Of course there was the desire of self-protection in her decision too. Colette didn't want to be out of luck when she needed it.
Alwine proved to be a kind companion, and Colette tried to help as fast as she could when the poor dear fell. "Here, I'll help you up," she brushed snow away from the ghoul and tried to aid her, "Are you alright?" Colette imagined that fall must have been horribly cold, though she wasn't really sure if Alwine could feel anything.
The ambitious Reaper wasn't sure which path was next, they had to get out of the forest first; but ever since laying eyes on the map, she wondered if she could handle the center path. It was faster.. but more dangerous. Though she certainly didn't have to go alone. She just wondered if anyone would be willing to be a duo if the need arose or her choice was overshadowed by the needs of many.

She closed her eyes for a moment and tried to recall the map. "I believe we should take the southern path. It seems to go across water though in this cold, it could be ice. Still, if it was water, that would give Merope an edge and there are bridges for us to cross." The map was so darn colorful in her head. Had it been that colorful when she had looked at it earlier?
"I think the southern path would be easier for us. We have shapeshifters in our group and it looks like the Northern Path may require climbing. I remember a lot of mountains. Now, I'm an excellent climber but I'm not sure if everyone else is. I could fashion a sling out of my shirt to carry Alessa if we ended up taking that path. The only one I think we should avoid is CandyCane Lane. So in the end, both paths would work, I just think we may be able to cover more ground in less time with the Southern route."
Rain sighed and looked around, hoping for any sign to make this an easier decision. "Regardless of where we go, there may be more trees or Jack knows what else. This is not a decision any one of us should make, I think."

Once she had gained Alessa's permission and the Owl had finished comforting her Mandy carefully reached out, picked her up and cradled her in her arms, trying to not jostle so as to not aggravated her wounds. "You just tell me when you feel well enough to keep up and I'll put you straight back down.".
Straightening up she blinked in surprise when she saw Winnie neck planting in the snow. She was about to enquire if the ghoul was alright when she rung her bell causing Mandy to get what she was on about. Glancing down she noticed Bunny looked less beaten up and bloody which was good, though she still showed signs of the fight.
When talk of the path came up Mandy agreed with Rain surprisingly, "The southern path does seem best, most of us can swim which is more than can be said about climbing and it looks like it will take the least energy." and with all these attacks they'd need to conserve as much as possible. Though they'd need to watch Rocky to make sure she didn't fall into the water.

"I can swim," Barth volunteered, very reluctantly. Float would be more accurate. "But I'm not sure if I'll be able to outswim, say, a Christmas shark."
He looked pointedly at yet another smiling (and sharp) tree assaulting one of their party.

"Thanks, Mandy! I'm so clumsy that-- watch ooouuutt!!!" Alwine shrieked, putting her hands up to where a horrified mouth would be on a face... if she had one. "It's a friendly tree!! I'll take Alessa if you want, just concentrate on the battle! You can do it!"
