Please don’t go away. I don’t want you too.”
Cailen almost did not have the chance to finish the sentence before another flood of tears escaped from behind Alice's eyes. He didn't want her to leave. He forgave her for what she had done. Knowing that he could forgive her for her mistakes, she had to find it in her heart to forgive him for what had happened. Alice couldn't agree more with him when he said that so much had happened that day, it really made a person think.
"I... I won't go away," she managed to speak as she allowed her arms to wrap around him, clinging to him like her life depended on it. Relief washed over her but it was very short lived. Sure, Cailen had forgiven her for sleeping with Adam - but that was only half of the battle. Bella was still missing and no one knew what was going on with her right now. As much as Alice wanted just to stand there in Cailen's arms and forget that anything else in the world was happening, she knew that was not a smart idea. Thinking back to the text that Adam had sent to her, she wondered if perhaps it had something to do with Bella. Alice had been so wrapped up in her own emotions that she had not even considered that may have been what he wanted. "I... we need to see Adam. He texted me... he said he needed to talk to me. It may have been about Bella." Alice informed Cailen of what she was about to do, almost as if she felt the need to ask for his permission to speak to Adam after what she had just admitted to doing. She knew that in the text, Adam had stated he wanted to talk to her alone, but she couldn't begin to justify leaving Cailen right now to see Adam.
She hoped that Adam would have some sort of good news. If Bella was returned safely then everyone could sleep easy that night knowing that everything was going to be okay; or so Alice thought, anyway. She was still so unaware of what else was going on. Before she could open her mouth to ask if Cailen would mind driving to Adam's apartment, Alice felt an ice cold finger tap her on the shoulder. Turning around, she saw a woman who looked to be in her late twenties with dark brown hair, or perhaps it was black.
"Excuse me, are you Alice Humphrey?" the woman questioned. Alice was unsure if she should respond to the question, this was the second time that someone she didn't know approached her and apparently knew who she was. Alice decided that the best thing for her to do would be to lie, just in case this woman was somehow connected to Bella's kidnapping. "No, I think you've got me mistaken for someone else. I'm sorry," she tried to sound as polite as possible, hoping that it would end the conversation with the woman as quickly as possible.
"My apologies, miss. Have a nice day," the woman replied, not sounding convinced at all by Alice's lie. At least she decided against pressing the issue further and began to walk away towards the parking lot.
Still slightly shaken from finally telling Cailen the truth, and now with the added icing to the cake of some other stranger seeming to know who she was, Alice turned herself back in Cailen's direction and took a hold of his hand. Squeezing slightly harder than usual without realizing it, she decided that she wanted to get out of the hospital area as soon as she could in case any other mysterious strangers showed up. "I won't go to Adam's unless you come with me, but since it might be about Bella, maybe we should go over there now?"
outofcharacter: I was totally thinking that Harrison could be the boss figure of this little "operation" haha. I've also had an idea for a new character, that I brought into this post. She'd also be working for Harrison, the secretary that Alice had spoken on the phone with earlier to make the appointment at the strip club. Also, there's an added twist I thought of in regards to her that I'll post when I post as her, but if you guys don't like it I can totally change it up. XD

★ ( ALEXIS ◦ ARCHIBALD !!) I won't stand in your way; let your hatred flow and she'll scream and she'll shout and she'll pray and she had a name, yeah she had a name. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "No, I think you've got me mistaken for someone else. I'm sorry."
Alexis fought back the urge to laugh at Alice's response. Does this b***h think I'm stupid? It didn't matter, Harrison had only instructed Alexis to find out where Alice had gone. Earlier, Alice had given Harrison a call regarding a job at Indulgence, and while Alexis was not too thrilled about having this goodie two-shoes blonde working where she did, Alexis knew better than to cross Harrison's orders. After she returned to her car, she shot off a quick text message to Harrison to let him know the information he had requested.
She's outside the hospital. I think the b***h blew you off, boss.
With that, Alexis flipped closed her cell phone and tossed it lightly into the cup holder of her vehicle. She hoped that Harrison would be satisfied with the work that she had done and would allow her to have some time to attend to something she'd been meaning to do. All he had wanted to know was if Alice was showing up or not. He had mentioned something about having more business that needed his attention if she wasn't going to be there for their meeting. Alexis wasn't entirely sure what this "business" entailed, but she knew that when Harrison wanted her to know something, he would tell her. Until then, all she had was her imagination.
Once Alexis was on the road, she first contemplated going back to Indulgence to see if there was anything else that she needed to do for the night. Of course, it was her day off; but she usually spent her days on at the club anyway. It was practically her second home. She glanced over at the passenger's seat of her car at the pile of papers she had tossed there earlier. On top of the pile was a test result from the Weston Clinic that she had received a few months prior. Result: HIV Positive. The words may as well have been written in bright bold lettering, they stood off of the page. Initially, she had been angered to find out her fate, fully-well knowing who she had contracted it from; her now, ex boyfriend, Jake Jones, who claimed that he was being faithful to her... clearly wasn't. Harrison had told her plenty of times that the boy was scum and that she needed to ditch him, but she had refused to listen - until she got her results, that was. It did not take long before she became numb to the entire situation. She had gone to her doctor for the "cocktail" of medication and resumed her life as normal; well almost normal. She remained sexually active, despite the fact that she was carrying a lethal disease. Figuring that protection alone would solve the problem, she decided that it would be best to keep it her little secret.
But then there was Adam. Shortly after her diagnosis, she had been working at Indulgence and just finished her shift when she saw him in the audience; recognizing him from some of his adult films. She had invited him out for drinks and after a very lengthy night of binge drinking the two ended back at his apartment. He had been much more intoxicated than she, so she wasn't even sure if he realized that they had even had sex that night. One thing Alexis knew is that there had been no condom, and she had left that morning before he even woke up.
The idea of tracking him down had floated about her head for quite some time. The small part of her who might still have been a moral person felt that it was her obligation to inform him that he should probably have himself tested. Of course, each time that thought crossed her mind, it never stayed for long. Except for now, when she found herself driving in the direction of where he lived; hoping that he had not moved from the residence of where he had been that night.
Not long after, Alexis stood at his door. Waiting a few moments to ensure if this was really what she wanted to do, she paused before knocking. Upon knocking a few times, she heard the sound of footsteps coming towards the door before it flung open.
"Adam Rochester?" Alexis questioned, fully knowing that it was him she was now staring at.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I won't hold you back; let your anger rise. and we'll fly and we'll fall and we'll burn no one will recall, no one will recall. OutOfCharacter: Just a little twist that I thought up (...and I wanted to play a "villain" so to speak. XD) If you don't like it Rumply, I can totally change the part that involves Adam though!

Cailen$Legosi With his arms wrapped around Alice, just the two of them there, Cailen felt happy. For the moment they were content with each other. Alice said she wasn’t going to leave. But it only lasted a moment. As much as he wished he could forget everything that happened today, there were still matters to attend to. Bella was still gone and standing here wasn’t going to bring her home. He wished it could be that simple, but it wasn’t. He sighed as the moment ended and they were thrown into back into this nightmare. When Alice said they needed to see Adam, the bitterness from before crept back. Adam was not the person he wanted to see right now. She mentioned that he needed to talk to her about something, but about what? Alice thought it might have to do with Bella, but then why wouldn’t Adam say anything to him about it? If it had to do something with Bella, then he would want me to know about it, right? Whether good or bad news, Cailen wanted to know.
Just then some lady came up behind Alice and ask if she was Alice. Cailen eyes the woman suspiciously. Who was she and what did she want? How did she know who Alice was? It looked like Alice didn’t know her, so that only worried Cailen more. If this was another kidnapping for Tony, he sure wasn’t going to let it happen. Not again. He didn’t care if she was a girl, he’d knock her lights out if that’s what it took. Being smart, Alice denied that it was her. Good thinking. Somehow that lady knew who she was and where to find her, and that was not a good sign. The lady seemed didn’t seem too content with Alice’s answer, but she walked away anyways. Cailen watched the lady with suspicious eyes as she made her way back to her car and didn’t take his eyes off her until she was well out of sight. He turned back when Alice grabbed his hand. He could tell she was nervous about all this. Although he wasn’t too keen on going over to Adam’s place, he decided it might be best. At least I am going with her. After what she told him about her and Adam, he didn’t know if he could trust them to be alone together. “I agree. C’mon let’s go,” he said and walked over to his car. Alice seemed persistent on wanting to go over there, and if there is a possibility that it is about Bella, Cailen wanted to know.

And I need you to make the promise l a s t To contradict my past To know that I am s a n e To help me feel a s h a m e d ______________________________________________________________________________
Skylar was pretty silent after her long rant. It was as if she talked so much that she had nothing left in her. The anger was still there though. It would take awhile for it to fizzle out completely. Until then, she would simply have to deal with it and take deep breaths to keep calm. She looked over at Adam who had been the main recipient of her anger. He wasn’t happy with her, that much was certain from the glare he sent her way. She didn’t blame him but at the same time she wanted to glare back. Tensions were high and Sky realized that, the best thing would be to just drop the argument between the two at the moment.
What happened next seemed to go pretty fast. First, Alice left the group to talk on her phone. When she returned she said something about being able to fix the situation and then asked Adam for a ride. Why would she ask Adam and not Cailen? Sky shook the thought from her head and just watched as the two left. It wasn’t long before Cailen also left. He simply said that he was going and then left without a word. ”Please be careful.” Sky called after him. And just like that it was only Jack and her.
Jack had suggest that they leave and Skylar had to agree. There was no good in the two of them just standing in the parking lot. Sky was debating if she should tell Jack what had been on her mind but she wasn’t sure if it was something she should bring up at this time with Bella missing and all. She looked up at him when he quickly let go of her hand and then as he walked towards his car. She was about to follow him and make sure that he was okay when her phone went off, signaling that she received a text. She looked at who it was from and it was from Alice. Adam, I don’t regret that night. I want you to know that I care about you, a lot I wish you were here with me right now But I need to sort my head out I need to talk to Cailen, first. Skylar was left speechless with that message. She couldn’t even make out what it was about. Of course, she had her suspicions but she didn’t know. Thinking carefully, Sky typed out a response.
I know this was not meant for me But would you want to talk about it? I’m here if you need to. I’m not going to tell anyone if you don’t want me to
Almost the instant after she sent the message, Skylar received another one. This one from her father. Results came in early …it’s what we thought… Come home or let me know where you are I love you. Reading this text, Sky felt her insides crack. She tried to keep it together enough to type her dad a response. She told him that she was with friends and she would be fine. She just needed time to think. Of course something like this would happen today. It was the way her luck would have it.
Skylar tried to keep herself together enough to get to Jack. She needed to tell him about this. He would help calm her down. She knew that. She looked up just in time to see Jack hit the ground. She didn’t scream, she couldn’t. Instead, she simply ran to him. ”Jack! Oh my god! Jack, please wake up! Please.” She feared moving him and didn’t know what to do. All of her control from earlier left her. She was just letting the tears stream down her face. ”Please, Jack. Wake up. Please.”
Through all this she heard Jack’s phone go off. Without thinking she reached for it and saw that it was a text from Adam. She didn’t even read it. Instead, she used Jack’s phone to call Adam. She hoped to God that he would pick up. She needed him to. She needed someone to help her. There was nothing she could do. She was useless. ”Adam, you need to help. Please. I know you and I fought earlier but please forget about that. I’m sorry. Jack’s hurt. He fell and now he’s not awake. I don’t know what to do.” She couldn’t stop crying throughout this entire thing. Everything was just coming out all at once. Skylar didn’t even know if she was talking to Adam himself or leaving a message for him on his voicemail.

Having stolen something similar to a grocery cart from the abandoned lot next door, Adam had just began loading the big screen television onto the platform when there was a knock on his door. Completely unaware that his phone had been muted when he shoved it into his pocket, it was also the exact moment that Skylar had attempted to call him. ' Is Alice here already?' Raising a curious brow that soon lowered because he knew the hospital was not too far away, Adam approached the door.
Wait...What if she brought Cailen with her...
Adam hadn't thought of that, and for a moment Adam hesitated. Did he want Cailen to hear what he was about to say? ' Hell no.' Adam furiously shook his head to himself and glared down at the carpet. Yeah, he didn't think Cailen would 'trust him' enough to be alone with his girlfriend; but, he had said to ALICE that it was F****ING important. Did that concept have NO meaning to her? ' If she brought HIM I'm not f****ing saying anything. She can deal, or I can come up with something else on the spot.' Realizing Cailen might pull him away from Alice for a few choice words...or slams, Adam put on his most intimidating face he could muster in the hopes of deterring such a fate from happening.
And clasping his hand around the doorknob, Adam opened the door. His angered face melting away to annoyed confusion. Yes, he recognized the dancer, vaguely remembered sleeping with her a few months prior; but, had not anticipated her visiting his apartment again. ' Is she horny and wanting another ride, or pregnant?' Oddly enough, Adam hoped for the latter. A soundless wha-aat? escaped his lips before his face softened over to a civil and politely meant smile before he opened his door and invited her into his apartment. Regardless of the fact that his apartment now resembled a refugee camp.
" Adam Rochester?" Adam glowed with a smile.
" Making sure I don't have a twin, or do you just not remember my name?", Adam had meant the statement as a joke to lighten the atmosphere, and he let out a chuckle accordingly.
" Is everything alright? Why don't you come inside?", Catching himself mid-sentence, Adam raised the best crooked grin he could muster; but, his stress from finding out about his condition tempered whatever fake happiness he felt at seeing a woman from his past show up. A woman he would have to admit to having HIV to if she wanted to sleep with him. A woman who would probably grimace and politely leave like he expected her too. A deep, slimy, pit buried itself deeper into his stomach, and he could no longer keep his face from looking entirely healthy. He felt physically awful, and he couldn't keep pretending the illness wasn't there now that he knew he was ill.

"Making sure I don't have a twin, or do you just not remember my name?"
Alexis laughed at Adam's joke of a greeting. "A little from Column A, a little from Column B," Alexis replied, stepping inside of his apartment. Looking around, she remembered it being a lot more organized and put together than it currently did. She wondered if perhaps he was in the process of moving. If that was the case, Alexis had lucked out that she hadn't waited before stopping by.
When he asked her if everything was alright, Alexis debated just telling him the news right there. She had brought a copy of her test in with her so that she could prove what she was saying if need be. For all she knew, Adam would not believe her and think she was lying for some sort of sick joke. While that was definitely her style, this was not a joke - so she decided to be prepared. Instead, she shoved the paper in her pocket for now, she would wait a little bit longer before sharing her grim news.
"Everything's fine, sugar," she blatantly lied, "Just thought I would stop by and see how you were doing."
As the door closed behind her, Alexis made her way over to the couch located in Adam's living room and took it upon herself to have a seat. Almost as soon as she was seated, another knock fell upon Adam's door, loud and hurried as if whoever was knocking was doing so with purpose. Alexis remained quiet so that Adam could answer the door.
"I asked Cailen to wait outside in case it's not, but is this about Bella?" a very familiar voice could be hear emanating from the doorway. Alexis knew exactly who this was - it was Alice.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I won't hold you back; let your anger rise. and we'll fly and we'll fall and we'll burn no one will recall, no one will recall. OutOfCharacter: this post is super short, but that's intentional. What happens next I wanted to do from Alice's point of view, but I felt like I needed to post as Alexis first to set up what I wanted to do. XD

Walking over to the passenger's side, she flung the door open and climbed inside. She hoped that Adam had good news about Bella. Although if it was not regarding Bella, she wasn't sure what could have been so important that he needed to talk to her right away. He said... alone. If it were regarding Bella, surely he wouldn't have made that request. Alice began to realize her dilemma. If there was something on Adam's mind that he wanted to talk out with her, she knew him well enough to know that he would not even begin to discuss it in the presence of anyone else.
Upon arrival at Adam's apartment building, Alice decided that perhaps it would be best for Cailen to wait outside of Adam's unit until she could determine if his news regarded Bella or not. She was not sure if Cailen would oblige, knowing fully well that there was no way he would trust either of them to be alone together. Perhaps if she promised it would only be a few minutes. What could happen in a few minutes, anyway?
"Do you... maybe it would be best if... maybe I should talk to Adam alone first. I promise it'll only be for a few minutes. Just to see if it's about Bella. If it is I'll come get you right away," Alice barely managed to get the words out of her mouth.
When she reached Adam's door, her fist pounded upon it forcefully, more out of anxiety than anger. She was nervous as to what Adam may have wanted to tell her and was also nervous at how Cailen was feeling that she had left him behind, even if it was only for a few moments. As the door opened, she quickly stepped inside and spoke, "I asked Cailen to wait outside in case it's not, but is this about Bella?" She cut right to the chase.
Before Adam had the chance to answer, Alice noticed the woman seated on his couch. It was the same woman that had confronted her in the hospital's parking lot not more than fifteen minutes before. She grew both worried and angry. Worried because if this woman knew Adam, that surely her earlier lie was going to be exposed. Angry because it hadn't even been an hour since Adam had been all friendly with her, and now he had another woman in his apartment? Alice knew that she had no right to be upset. She was not dating Adam - she was dating Cailen. She had chosen Cailen when she decided to tell him the truth. Yet somehow the woman being there bothered Alice more than she could begin to express.
"Well... I see you've got company," Alice emphasized the last word, giving it an almost "dirty" inflection. She turned to walk out of the apartment when the woman spoke.
"Adam, you really seem to have lowered your standards if she's the latest notch in your bedpost," Alexis clearly had taken offense to how she had been referred to by Alice. Alice watched as a look that could only be described as pure evil fell over the woman's face. The smirk that indicated she was not finished worried Alice. She wanted to keep moving, to just leave the apartment before this woman had the chance to drive another stake in her heart, but her brain just didn't seem to be relaying the message to her legs to walk away. "Well, sweetie - if you've ******** him, better get yourself tested. He slept with me first and well, see for yourself." With that, Alexis pulled the positive test result out of her pocket and tossed it in Alice's direction.
Reaching down in horror, Alice picked up the paper and could not believe what she was witnessing. HIV Positive. Her stomach churned. She was going to be sick. Was this... Alexis telling the truth? The test looked like it came from a legitimate doctor. She looked at the date on it, and it was definitely done prior to the night that she herself had slept with Adam. For a few moments, Alice was rendered completely speechless while Alexis found herself chuckling at Alice's expression.
"... Adam... did you know?" It took everything Alice had to keep tears from falling once more. She was not going to allow herself to cry in front of Alexis. Now the only question that remained was if Adam knew about this and just didn't bother tell her before he potentially infected her as well. Oh god... don't tell me this is why I've been sick.... Her voice turned a shaky, yet somehow stern at the same time. "Did you know about this before you slept with me?" Alice demanded, now looking Adam square in the eye. She was not moving until he gave her an answer.
outofcharacter: I, yet again, changed Alice's theme song. sweatdrop But it's okay because it's awesome.

Waking up after falling on cement with a head injury, minor or severe, always just sucked. Jack opened his dark eyes slowly, the light blinded him and he felt sick to his stomach. He was on his back, that much he knew. His stomach churned and his head felt like a jack hammer had repeatedly jammed itself through his skull. He reached is shaky hands to his head and felt a wet spot. His fingers touched it and he immediately winced in pain. He breathed slowly, to try not to hyperventilate again. When he saw the blood on his finger tips he gasped.
Jack looked around and saw Skylar with tears rolling down her cheeks and his phone in her hand. He felt another wave of nausea, but for two reasons: Skylar was worried about him, and he felt horrible for scaring her. He didn't want to add to anymore drama that day. The other reason was because of a possible concussion. He decided not to try to move, even if his stomach told him to roll on his side in fear of vomiting all over his face. His head told him that if he moved, the worst pain he could ever feel would erupt.
Jack reached his drier hand towards Skylar and grasped her knee, "I'm...I'm sorry." He wasn't just apologizing for scaring her, but deep down he truly was sorry for cheating on her. But he wasn't ready to tell her, just yet. He couldn't deal with Skylar being angry at him and a pounding headache. Suddenly, his stomach convulsed and he rolled over on his side to heave all the contents from his stomach all over the cement. Jack winced and rolled gently back over on his back, trying not to move his head. "I need...I need to take a shower." He muttered, trying to make a joke while being serious at the same time. He felt disgusting, utterly repulsive.
"I...I hope Bella's okay." Through all his pain, he still worried about Bella. Jack looked up towards Skylar and reached for her hand, he was glad she was still there.

And I need you to make the promise l a s t To contradict my past To know that I am s a n e To help me feel a s h a m e d ______________________________________________________________________________
Skylar cursed when she realized that Adam hadn’t answered. She shut the phone off and her hand fell limply to her side. What could she do now? There was too much going through her head. If Adam didn’t answer, what should she do? Should she try and contact Cailen or Alice? Should she just call the hospital? At the moment she would love to just stay away from the hospital but she would go if it was what Jack needed.
She saw him open his eyes and relief flooded through her. He was at least conscious but she didn’t know how long that would last. She needed to get him help. For the moment though, she was just happy to see him awake. When he said something about being sorry she almost hit him. Why was he apologizing to her? He was the one on the ground. ”Don’t say you’re sorry. You have nothing to apologize for. I’m just glad you are able to talk right now.”
When he reached out his hand she instantly took it. She was careful to make sure that she was gentle. ”I think you need to get to a hospital to make sure you are okay. Can you move or should I call an ambulance?” She didn’t want to risk moving him and making matters worse.

Adam had been sociable if not civil in his behavior; but, at hearing that line his right eye narrowed shrewdly. ' Oh really? Thats never the reason why women knock on my door.' Feeling a sickening feeling in his stomach that Alexis might be here for another binge-drinking night of fornication, Adam could not resist a grimace from crossing his face. As pretty as Alexis was, for some reason Adam didn't find her attractive. Course, at this point, he might not find anyone attractive. His sickness effecting his natural libido. ' Alright, open up and confess why your here.'
Hearing the sudden knocking at the door, Adam lost all the color in his face. ' Is that Alice and Cailen?' He sincerely hoped that it was, because he doubted anyone else would be here so soon; but, what if Alice saw Alexis on his couch and got the wrong idea? She isn't your girlfrend Adam, you don't have to explain anything. Adam allowed the color to come back to his face; but he hesitated a second longer before going to the door. ' If she sees Alexis here, it will spoil my chances.' His mental self did not hesitate to laugh. What chances? The only reason you slept together was because she was an emotional wreck. If Jack had been single and tried to comfort her, she'd have slept with him instead. Adam's eyes narrowed as he ran out of reasons to keep from opening the door. Gripping the doorknob, Adam twisted his wrist to let Alice inside.
He was about to ask Alexis to leave when the thought occured to him: Go ahead and make Alice jealous. Give her a taste of what she's missing.
"I asked Cailen to wait outside in case it's not, but is this about Bella?", Adam just gave Alice a kind, but serious, look. ' don't you think that if it was about Bella I would just tell everyone?'
"Well... I see you've got company,"
For the briefest moment Adam's eyes widened and a hopeful flame began to burn in his chest. ' Is Alice jealous?' Adam stared at his blonde friend in mock disbelief. Thats not possible... Adam was just stunned enough to pause and reflect on Alice's nasty tone when Alexis decided to open her big mouth and ruin everything.
"Adam, you really seem to have lowered your standards if she's the latest notch in your bedpost,", Adam resisted the urge to ball his hands into fists.' What the hell!?!'
" Where the ******** do you get that from?" The pain on Alice's face riddled Adam's own in painful anger that Alexis would even dare say such a thing after how easy she had been. Resisting the plethora of swear words he would liked to have used, Adam settled with using the most sickening accusatory tone he could muster; and glared venomously when she continued: Undeterred.
"Well, sweetie - if you've ******** him, better get yourself tested. He slept with me first and well, see for yourself."
Images of his life flashed before his eyes when he saw the papers in her hand smack onto the coffee table. Every hope of being able to tell Alice, alone, in a peaceable environment died right then and there. All his plans were ruined; a gigantic slap in the face. Like someone else had changed his funeral after he already specified in his will what he wanted. If not for the fact that he was so emotionally worn out to even create tears, Adam would have fallen to his knees and crawled away to hide himself. However this was not the time to be a hermit crab, he was too p*ssed off to be a hermit crab. Weeping on the floor was not something Adam did. Flaring up with so much anger than his body began to tremble and convulse, Adam had to use all his energy to try and stop the shaking.
"... Adam...did you know?"
The mental image of a noose being fastened and the sound accompanying it flashed into his mind, and Adam knew that any words he said would result in the end of their relationship. Yes, Adam figured the day would come when their friendship would be over; but, he hadn't counted on it being today, he had counted on it being after Bella was safe. ' F*** my life.' Pinning the blame on both himself and Alexis, Adam turned towards the brunette and raised his hand to the door. There was no hint of normality on Adam's face, he was as demonic looking as satan himself, and he wanted that brunette b***h out of his apartment!
" Are you done?" Adam heard Alice question him; but, he kept his face on Alexis. " Cause if you have nothing else to say then GET OUT of my apartment!" Adam was making a genuine effort not to swear in front of Alice right now; and the shaking of his angered body was the evidence of his self restraint. Adam vowed never to hit a woman, even if it was Alexis. No matter how screwed up his life was, he wasn't going to take it out on the undeserving. However, it was what Alice said next that shattered the final licks of hope he clung to that their friendship could be restored. Nay, it shattered everything he believed in.
"Did you know about this before you slept with me?" Turning his head slowly to face her, Adam shook his head in disbelief. ' How could she say that?' Yeah, Adam guessed he had a reputation of living to a certain carefree standard. That he was easy, that he partied alot; but, Adam was honest about his lifestyle with everyone he met. He didn't present a false facade then ditch girls, they slept with him and left with the understanding that that was all there was. Adam was low for living like that for so long, but the one person Adam hoped would think the best of him had absolutely no faith in him whatsoever. The devastation was evident on his face, and for the longest moment Adam had too much fluid in his throat to say anything to Alice's accusatory stare.
Waiting for Alexis to get up, Adam held the door open for her to leave but continued to stand there holding the door open. Remembering what he thought of back at starbucks, Adam closed his eyes in painful recollection. ' Our friendship is over? Ha. What friendship was there? This is a joke, a very funny joke.' Trying to poke through his anger, a quiet voice piped up in-between his thoughts. The voice knew why Adam continued to hold the door open, and metaphorically tugged on his jacket like a small child wanting attention. Don't do this...You love her. But the bullet hole in his chest was too strong to ignore, and the tears he had buried back in the closet of his heart for years now were threatening to break out. Cold, was the only word that could describe his face. After two minutes of collecting his thoughts and calming the tones in his voice, the statue spoke. Relieved that Alexis was at least far enough away to give him and Alice a small remnant of privacy.
" Alice. I invited you over here to tell you because I just found out today. I didn't go to the casino, I went to get tested and talk to my triple-x producer." Adams face remained stoic, and there was no semblence of reassurance in his tone that he usually used to reassure his friend.
" After all our years together, watching you go through sickle cell anemia, heh." Adam chuckled; but it was expelled with no curteousy or kindess, like he was clearing the filth out of his chest. Glancing up at the ceiling, he looked back down just as the chuckle died in his mouth. He pinned his eyes back at Alice with the worst look he could ever make...because it wasnt purposefully evil, it was just dark and empty. Like he was wearing a mask, and the real Adam was buried underneath it.
" You know, what happened between us. Was completely out of character for me, because I never sleep with someone unless we both have the understanding that sex is all there will ever be. You don't think that -just maybe- I care that it screwed you and Cailen up? You don't think I would care what that would do to my own relationship with Cailen? You don't think I felt horrible that we slept together? Because I do." Adam shook his head and narrowed his eyes, his lips grumbling almost in distaste as a watery sheet glazed over through the mask. As embarrassing as it was for his eyes to tear up, doing it in front of Alice was the worst feeling of shame he could physically express.
" If I had the choice Alice I would take everything back; but I can't. I can't. If I'd had known sooner, I would have told you. Hell, I would've told everyone. Ruining your life aside, because that was unintentional and if I keep blaming myself for it i'm gonna take a pistol to my head, that night meant more to me than I could waste my time trying to say. And thats what I regret the most, what it showed me, because if that night hadn't happened, then I could still be oblivious to what you really think about me." the whites of his eyes turning red, Adam had to stop talking long enough to blink the water away and avert his gaze. Looking into Alice's eyes was becoming much too painful, and he reached the point where he had to look at the floor.
" Alice...I can't fake this anymore." Adam looked up from the carpet with the stoic expression rekindled on his face. The only evidence of showing emotion being the remaining water still shining in his eyes.
" I'm selling everything I have and moving back to Boston. Hopefully I can earn the money in time...I roughed out at eight thousand. I'd have it all if I sold the car, which I'm going to, but I don't know if I can sell it in time. I'd have to wait until tomorrow when the dealership's open. Thats all I wanted to tell you." Adam let out a breath and looked at the carpet once more, his arm still holding the door open.
" Please go Alice. I don't want to see you anymore.", now it was his turn to blatantly lie. His pained tone might have covered the texture of 'lying' in his voice, because the statement was half true. He didn't want to be around Alice. Why would any person want to be near someone who had no confidence in them?...But the knowledge of how he really felt for her would always hope for her to feel something more. Until now. ' Thats not going to happen, and I can't keep hoping for it.'

Many times she wanted to interject and apologize, but instead she allowed him to keep talking. She wished that she hadn't been so impatient to show up and find out what it was that he wanted to tell her - perhaps if she had just waited, Alexis would have already been gone and the news would have been easier to swallow. No, you idiot. It wouldn't matter when you found out... Alice wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, she wanted to curl up into a ball and disappear. Instead of all of the above options, she just stood there in dead silence and allowed Adam to speak until he was finished.
"I'm selling everything I have and moving back to Boston. Hopefully I can earn the money in time...I roughed out at eight thousand. I'd have it all if I sold the car, which I'm going to, but I don't know if I can sell it in time. I'd have to wait until tomorrow when the dealership's open. Thats all I wanted to tell you."
Boston? No. No! You can't go back to Boston! Wanting to say the words out loud but still behind unable to do so, Alice thought them instead. She couldn't just allow him to leave, she couldn't allow him to just throw away his friendship with everyone because of what happened. Sure, selling his possessions would help gain the money to free Bella, but that didn't mean he had to move away did it?
Adam's next sentence cut through Alice like a million tiny shards of glass. Each one more painful than the last. "Please go Alice. I don't want to see you anymore." Normally, Alice would oblige with his wishes. Normally she would turn around and leave his apartment, never speaking to him again - to give him what he wanted. But this time was different. This time she felt a fire from deep inside well up and come to the surface.
"No," she stated firmly, planting her feet into the ground as if she were a tree. She wasn't going to budge from where she stood. Instead, she took the door from Adam's grasp and closed it, further proving that she wasn't going anywhere. "I'm not going anywhere, and you aren't either. You can't." Her firm voice was starting to falter. "If you do go back to Boston... I'm coming with you. I don't care what you say right now. You're not leaving me behind. I couldn't take it... I...."
Alice paused for a moment. Here she was, on the verge of begging Adam not to leave, with Cailen just outside waiting for her. The sick feeling in her stomach did not disappear but only grew with the distaste for herself. She did not want to hurt Cailen in any way, but at the same time, she was not able to stand by and watch Adam leave her life forever. She frantically searched her mind for the words she wanted to say. It seemed as if there were so many things at once that her mind became so clouded that nothing was coming out. But she had to say something. This was her last chance.
"If you left... it would break me," she admitted, loosening her footing in the ground and taking a step closer to Adam, almost as if just standing too far away from him was becoming too painful for her to do. "Don't push me away, please. This is just... so much to process. But maybe I'm not even sick. I would still have to take the test anyway." Alice wanted to smack herself right there for the tangent she had gone off on. While it was possible that she wasn't infected, although seemingly unlikely, it didn't change the fact that Adam was still facing the deadly illness. Alice knew how it felt to battle an illness, to be sick all of the time. She knew it all too well and wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy, let alone such a close friend. "I wish I could cure you. I wish I was able to take it away. I'm used to being sick, I'm the one who's used to having a constant illness." Once again, Alice fought back the urge to slap herself across the face. This was not what he wanted to hear right now, or so she thought. For all she knew, at that moment all that could be on his mind was wishing that she would just get out of his apartment, and out of his life for good. Unfortunately, Alice knew that was something she was just unable to do.
"Earlier, when I was at the hospital, I almost sent you a text message. Of course it accidentally got sent to Skylar, but that's an entirely different story and something I have to sort out, but that's not the point. I had wanted to tell you that I didn't regret what happened between us. That while I was sitting there waiting for a doctor, that you were the one I wished was with me." Once again, Alice paused. She was still not getting across the point she was trying to make, and surely Adam must have been growing frustrated with waiting for her to say what she had to say. He had, after all, told her that he didn't want to see her anymore. What if he really meant it? What if he didn't care that she was attempting to pour out her heart? Just the thought that he might hate her was almost enough to shut her up. Maybe I should just leave. He doesn't want me here. He never wants to see me again.
Alice began to contemplate if she should just respect his wishes. It seemed as if she wasn't able to properly articulate what she was thinking anyway. Without even realizing it, once again, tiny droplets of water released themselves from her eyes and danced down her cheeks. For a brief moment, she decided to give up. She decided that she wasn't able to convince herself to fight for someone who didn't want her. The fire from before inside of her prevented her from doing so. No. She wasn't going to be able to walk away, not this time.
"Adam... you can't leave. I need you," Alice spoke, her voice now barely above a whisper. She took one more step closer in order that she close whatever physical gap remained between them. Perhaps also to close whatever metaphorical gap remained between them as well. Without thinking about it, and giving herself the opportunity to have second thoughts, Alice leaned in and pressed her lips against his. Shying away after only a few mere seconds, but without moving too far away from her friend, she spoke once more. "If you want to leave for Boston... I'll go with you. I'll drop everything in this town. None of it matters if you're not here." She knew that Cailen was still so close that at any minute he could walk in and witness everything she was saying, Alice decided to throw all caution to the wind, even though she was unsure of what she would do if Cailen were to find out. Right now, nothing mattered to her more than making sure Adam didn't leave. "Promise me you won't leave me behind..." she paused her sentence only to look up into Adam's eyes, so that if he were to glance back, he would see what she was about to say was completely serious, "Promise you won't leave and I'm yours."

As hard as it was to stand there and remain stoic throughout the entire eulogy. Every statement leaving Alice's mouth was ecstasy, and he had to mentally crush himself over and over to keep from giving in and surrendering. She's just going through withdrawl pains. That logic seemed reasonable enough, but nevertheless his grip on the door began to loosen slightly.
"---You're not leaving me behind. I couldn't take it... I..." Adam would have wished he could tell Alice that the sick feeling in her stomach was mutual if he knew how ill she was herself. That little bit at the end was too painful to hear without clamping his eyes tightly shut, like a wandering man unsure of whether the lake was real or a pretty mirage. In constant conflict, his heart begged and pleaded that her words were true; but, his mind kept screaming at it to shut up. Don't say anything Adam. Let her finish. Adam complied, only opening his eyes after turning his head away from her to stare at the carpet.
" If you left... it would break me.", Feeling Alice's footsteps in the carpet more than seeing her walk into the corner of his eye, Adam raised his chin to lock his watering eyes with Alice's again. The bitter pain was evident, and it took all of Adam's composure to keep from shaking. ' She can't mean that.' Not after what she discussed with him earlier about Cailen.
"Don't push me away, please. This is just... so much to process. But maybe I'm not even sick. I would still have to take the test anyway." Adam curled his lips in an awkward smile. The most he was even able to smile with his mood such as it was. It was nice that she was being so optomistic, and he desperately wanted to comfort Alice and kiss away all her worries of being ill again; but, the chances of Alice not being infected were not very likely...
" Earlier, when I was at the hospital, I almost sent you a text message. Of course it accidentally got sent to Skylar, but that's an entirely different story and something I have to sort out, but that's not the point. I had wanted to tell you that I didn't regret what happened between us. That while I was sitting there waiting for a doctor, that you were the one I wished was with me."
It didn't show through the water sheeting his eyes, but Alice's words left Adam stunned speechless. As if his heart had metaphorically stopped beating and the air had been stolen from his lungs. Though he breathed, he couldn't actually feel the muscles in his lungs moving. Time had frozen still, and he could do nothing but contemplate deep within his thoughts. ' If she sent that text, or was going to...Did she break up with Cailen?' His mind piped back: I wouldn't count on it. If she had, wouldn't she have been angrier to see Alexis in your apartment? Adam could not deny the logic in that statement, Alice had been 'peeved' but she hadn't wept/screamed and stormed out of the room like most jealous in-love women tended to do. She's just now realizing how she feels -something- Adam, she doesn't know for sure if she loves you more than Cailen. She just doesn't want you to go. She's acting out of desperation, even if it is in a good way. Remember that night. Regardless of how much it might mean to both of you, its caused so many problems. If you act on this hastily and kiss her or say 'yes' to her, if she changes her mind afterwards you'll be devastated. If she doesn't, and she's still with Cailen, he'll hate your guts forever. If he doesn't already. As reasonable as his mind was being, Adam still kept his hand on the shiny doorknob with a reluctant heart. He wished so badly that he could give in...but he couldn't.
"Adam... you can't leave. I need you."
Adam clamped his eyelids shut so tightly that his eyes actually hurt from the pressure. The way that word: need pleaded out of Alice's mouth was almost the same as when they had their night together. The physical and emotional urge to let go of the doorknob, cup her face, and smash his mouth against her own. The image of doing just that flashed into his mind, and it was in no way chaste. Tearing his mind from the passionate thought, Adam squeezed his hand harder around the doorknob for support. ' God Alice, your making this hard on me.' That was just an understatement the second he felt Alice's lips against his own. Imagining how he was going to resist her and doing it was considerably harder, almost too hard for him to bear. His white knuckles throbbing from how hard he had to grip the doorknob to keep his mouth from moving.
Adam don't be foolish! You've done -enough- foolishness for one lifetime, she's-- Adam stopped listening to that accusatory voice as he opened his watery eyes to stare Alice in the face. He did not give in to his desires or the voice...because it was too late. His heart was breaking. The shattering pain of his emotional walls crumbling apart was too painful to be able to handle the attacks anymore. A tear of his own fell from his right eye, and Adam let go of the doorknob to wipe it away. Allowing the door to softly smack him in the back as he laid his arms at his sides and tried very hard to avoid looking into Alice's irresistable eyes.' I can't handle the possibility of being used now, and left for Cailen later.'
"If you want to leave for Boston... I'll go with you. I'll drop everything in this town. None of it matters if you're not here." There was a pleading look reflected back through Adam's shining eyes. He couldn't remember the last time he had wished for something so badly. Wished that he could wholeheartedly believe she was speaking from her heart and not from desperation. But as desperately as he wanted to; Adam couldn't, simply because the probability of being left in the dust was too strong for him to gamble. It had always been: 'Alice and Cailen'. She was always worried about Cailen, or upset because of Cailen. That couldn't just change in a heartbeat.
"Promise me you won't leave me behind..."Adam joined his pain-ridden gaze with her own." Promise you won't leave and I'm yours."
Returning to the stunned statue, Adam could make no answer. He just couldn't believe himself, because the woman he passionately loved was offering him the world and he couldn't accept it. Not now, not with things the way they were. In stunned disbelief that he was about to say this, his heart piped up louder than before. Having been wordlessly talking throughout the entire conversation. If she MEANS THIS as much as I DO, your making a HUGE mistake! You can't-- just-- devastate Alice by running away or saying you don't feel the same when she can see it on your face that you do! Please don't do this. I can't take suffering aimlessly, don't make me do it. His chest trembling from restraining more tears, Adam tried to remember how to breathe and only managed to scavange a few gasps for air. ' I'm in too deep. Your right, I can't let her go.' Painfully, nay excrusiatingly, Adam resisted the fold Alice in his arms, shove her against the wall, and proceed with the heated kiss he had imagined a few moments ago to gently clasp his hands around Alice's own and cradle them in his fingers.
" Alice...", Adams voice was thick with fluid.
"...That talk you and Cailen had earlier...when you told him about us. What did he say?", His entire future was wrapped up in Alice's reply, and he hungrily locked his pleading eyes upon her own. Desperate to hear the truth behind the declarative speech she had just omitted. If Alice was still with Cailen, he was going to gently set her hands down...and walk away.

What did he say?"
Alice had somehow known that question was coming. She knew that she somehow had to tell Adam that Cailen had forgiven her. How was she going to phrase this? The second she told Adam that they hadn't broken up, she knew that he would close his heart off to her forever. He would leave and never look back. But she also knew that she couldn't lie - that would only cause more damage.
"He... didn't seem happy, but..." she paused, almost as if the next part of the sentence would be far too painful to speak. Of course the fact that she had ended with but made it painfully what she was going to say next. "... he forgave me. After everything that happened today. He already lost Bella...."
She turned her face away from Adam's, not wanting anyone to see her in that moment. She was so incredibly torn between two individuals whom she cared for so deeply. As much as she couldn't bear to hurt Cailen, especially after today, Alice was now feeling the new gnawing in her stomach; she couldn't let herself hurt Adam either. Taking a few steps away, Alice placed her head in her hands, completely unsure of what she was going to do or say next. To make matters worse, she knew that time was of the essence, she needed to make up her mind, and quickly.
"Cailen and I have... we've always been together, for as long as I can remember. That's always what has made sense to me, and I've never strayed from it," Alice wanted to tear up once more, but she forced herself to fight back the urge. She needed to get out everything she wanted to say before she allowed herself to be interrupted by tears again. "Of course we didn't break up, because even when we do, it never lasts."
Alice wanted to stop there. She wanted to just tell Adam that she was staying with Cailen and walk out. Not because she was sure that was what her heart actually wanted, but because it was easier. It would be easier if she just dismissed whatever her heart was saying and walked away. If she did, then she wouldn't be the Jezebel that slept around and broke Cailen's heart right after his precious twin sister was kidnapped. Everyone will hate me if I don't walk away and let Adam go... but if I do, will I hate myself? Alice had to think hard about that one. Sure it was great if everything was wrapped up in a neat, almost perfect bow, but if she wasn't happy with herself, it wouldn't matter how easily things worked out.
"Do you want to know the difference between you and Cailen?" Alice questioned, although she did not pause long enough to let Adam answer before telling him her response. "You've never broken my trust. Never. In all of the years we've been friends, you've been truthful towards me. Aside from today, but you had a reason to lie to me, you did it for Bella's sake. I can't count how many times I've sat and wished for the same thing with Cailen. I've wished that when he told me he was finished with gambling, or that he didn't have a problem... I longed for him to be telling the truth. At first, I allowed myself to be naive and believe that one day he would give it up. I loved him too much to even think of losing him. But as time went on... it got harder. It hurt more every time he went back to that casino. And then today with Bella...."
Alice needed to stop talking, it was becoming harder and harder for her to let out the words. She backed herself up to the wall behind her and slide down so that she was now seated on the floor. Taking a few deep breaths, she tried to compose herself enough to continue with what she was saying. "I won't lie to you, Adam. I still love him. Maybe I always will - I don't know that for sure. But if I were to ask myself who it would hurt more to walk away from, right now?" Before she was able to finish her train of thought a tickle started to work its way up her throat and she began to cough. As if there could be worse timing. Adam must have been hanging on her every word, and now she had to stop because of a little coughing fit. Although it seemed like the cough wasn't letting up. "I... sorry... just give... me... a second here...." She tried to explain in between each cough, growing more and more frustrated with the situation. Each cough made her more and more lightheaded, she was thankful she had previously sat down, or else she may have tumbled over as she had done twice already that day. After a few more agonizing moments, the coughing finally ceased.
"Maybe all of this back and forth with Cailen has left me jaded... but I could walk away from him and survive. I'm not so sure if I let you walk out of my life... if I'd be able to say the same," she finally managed to take the leap and say. "Even if you walk away from me right now... I don't think I can stay with him... it's not fair if I've got such strong feelings for someone else. It wouldn't be fair to him to have a girlfriend constantly heartbroken because the man she wanted walked away."
As much as it pained her to say it, she knew that it was true. Even if Adam turned her down, she could not return to Cailen, not now. Not after everything she was now realizing she felt. It wouldn't be fair in the slightest. She cared about Cailen, and he deserved to be with someone who could love him with all they had. Alice now knew that she couldn't be that person anymore. She knew exactly what she had to do.
"Cailen is waiting outside, and I need to tell him that I can't be what he needs anymore. After that one of two things is going to happen. I either go home after that, and try to figure out what I'm going to do from that point forward, alone; or, I come back in here and we figure out what we're going to do next. But that's up to you," Alice rose from where she had been seated, "If you want me to, I'll come back and whatever happens next we face together, if you don't - then you have to let me know before I walk out that door. I'll say goodbye and I won't tell anyone that you're going to Boston if you don't want me to."
With that, Alice walked towards the door and took her turn to place her hand on the handle, waiting for his response.
outofcharacter: So I'm noticing a pattern here. Alice's new theme song: "Tear The World Down" by We Are The Fallen. The song that gave me the inspiration for her last post: "Don't Leave Me Behind" by We Are The Fallen. Inspiration for this post, "I Am Only One" by... you guessed it, We Are The Fallen.
Seriously, did that band just happen to know I was writing this character, and decided to write songs to fit each scenario she encountered perfectly? Geeze! Haha. PS. Totally not going to lie, I cannot stop laughing when I look at your sig picture, Rumply. Like, every single time. It makes me LOL!

"He... didn't seem happy, but...", Adam held back a grimace, very poorly. ' -But- No one likes that word: 'But'.' In contemplating what Alice was about to say, Adam's stomach churned a little nauseously. "... he forgave me. After everything that happened today. He already lost Bella...." Adam nodded in understanding; to be supportive...even though the information did not soften the grief of hearing those words in the slightest.
"Cailen and I have... we've always been together, for as long as I can remember. That's always what has made sense to me, and I've never strayed from it......Of course we didn't break up, because even when we do, it never lasts." Nodding respectively at the appropriate times, Adam heeded every word. Somehow, simply because he knew Alice, Adam knew her statement wasn't over; so, he gently took hold of Alice's hand and led her back inside the apartment. The door closing behind them, Adam walked towards the couch so that they could finish this conversation without distraction or worry of having someone spy upon them in the hallway. Regardless of him sitting down; however, Alice continued to stand.
"Do you want to know the difference between you and Cailen?", Adam did not truly believe she needed a verbal reply to continue; but he softly muttered a:' Yes.' in responce. After all, if Alice had taken the time to debate their differences, perhaps she was not acting out of desperation like he had originally supposed. He still wanted to hear all the facts, details, that he could get his ears on.
And then today with Bella...." Adam smiled his awkward smile in soundless reply. ' You weren't the only one who was naive about his gambling.'
Leaning forward on the couch, Adam had long since been resting his forearms upon his knees. Clasping his hands together to keep from fidgeting while Alice talked, Adam looked back up from his hands just in time to see Alice sliding down towards the ground. Perhaps being pinned against the wall was too much on Alice's hairdue, because the action of sliding down ruffled her hair and unintentionally framed her facial features. Like a glistening diamond, Adam could not tear his eyes away, and for once was grateful that there was some distance between them.
"I won't lie to you, Adam. I still love him. Maybe I always will - I don't know that for sure. But if I were to ask myself who it would hurt more to walk away from, right now?" Adam's eyes widened in suspence, and as the fates would have it, he was going to stay there. Even leaning forward to better decipher words in-between the coughs expelled from Alice's mouth, Adam waited on the edge of his seat for her to continue speaking. ' And???....'
"I... sorry... just give... me... a second here....", Furrowing his eyebrows with concern, Adam was about to get up from the couch to fetch Alice a glass of water when the word: 'just' permeated the atmosphere and it was like an unofficial 'hold on, stay put'. Remaining where he was, Adam waited in both suspence and concern for Alice to both recover from the coughing fit and reveal what she had planned on stating.
"Maybe all of this back and forth with Cailen has left me jaded... but I could walk away from him and survive. I'm not so sure if I let you walk out of my life... if I'd be able to say the same," His eyes welled up in curiousity like a frightened-curious house cat. The ability to breath once more vanishing from his thought life. ' What are you saying?' Hoping against hope that Alice was talking about him, his heart was pulpitating so strongly that the voice of his mind didn't even have the chance to dampen his elated joy at the prospect. If she isn't talking about you, then she would have left the room before now....
"Even if you walk away from me right now... I don't think I can stay with him... it's not fair if I've got such strong feelings for someone else. It wouldn't be fair to him to have a girlfriend constantly heartbroken because the man she wanted walked away." Flabbergasted, Adam's mouth hung open in surprise before the brightest grin soon took it's place and broke off the metaphorical mask he had previously been wearing.' Yes!!!' Was all Adam could think to himself, and it took all his restraint to stop grinning from ear to ear to listen to the rest of her speech. She's not done yet, hold your horses. the grin subsided, but a reddish tint to his cheeks soon took it's place.
"Cailen is waiting outside, and I need to tell him that I can't be what he needs anymore. After that one of two things is going to happen. I either go home after that, and try to figure out what I'm going to do from that point forward, alone; or, I come back in here and we figure out what we're going to do next. But that's up to you,", The second Alice began to rise from the floor Adam was off of the couch and hastening his feet to catch her before she walked out the door.
"If you want me to, I'll come back and whatever happens next we face together, if you don't - then you have to let me know before I walk out that door. I'll say goodbye and I won't tell anyone that you're going to Boston if you don't want me to."
Thankful, again, that the door was closed; Adam wasted no time in softly pressing his hands to the sides of Alice's face and leaned in to press his lips to her mouth. Opening his eyes as he pulled away from the gentle kiss, Adam only parted his mouth far enough to be able to speak and look her in the eye. Had he chosen to remain wordless, that answer might have proved to be satisfactory enough; however, he was not finished yet. Furrowing his eyebrows together as a gleeful, jolly, grin formed on his mouth, Adam heatedly chuckled before he put his hand on the door to keep it from opening.
" Or...We could wait and make this decision when we both have a clear -worry free- mind after Bella is returned safely. I think we've all had enough surprises for one day...Besides...I've...loved you for a long time Alice, those feelings aren't going to change anytime soon.", Resisting the urge to plant another kiss on Alice's pretty little mouth, Adam turned his head towards the 'cart-like apparatus' containing his hd television and stereo set. Raising his right eyebrow, a sure sign that he had come up with a clever idea, Adam turned to his beloved and gave her another bright smile. A worried pursing of the lip indicating that something else had popped into his brain.
" Alice, will you help me push this cart to the car? Cailen is going to wonder why you are taking so long, so if he sees us pushing a cart full of stuff to pawn, he'll probably assume you were helping me load the cart." Adam reached his hand to try and hold her hand within his own. Attemping to intertwine their fingers.
" When the time is right, I'll be here waiting. You have my word.", With that, Adam walked over to the cart and began to push it towards the newly opened door.

Cailen$Legosi How long has it been? Cailen looked over at the clock on the dash board of his car. He wasn’t too thrilled that Alice wanted to go in alone, but he couldn’t stop her. He had to trust that she would be true to her word and come and get him soon. As the minutes went by, each feeling like an eternity, were agonizing. He didn’t like sitting here wasting time when Bella was who knows where. Right now his thoughts were his worst enemy. Images of his sister hurt and even dead floated through his mind. He saw his mother crying when the police finally discovered Bella’s body. He had to shake his head vigorously just to get that horrendous image out. She is going to be just fine, she can’t die. Trying to keep his mind off Bella at the moment, he began to think about Alice. What did Adam possibly have to say to her? He had plenty of time and opportunities to say what he had to say. Letting his mind wander her came up with a bizarre conclusion. What if Adam has something to do with Bella’s kidnapping?
Maybe he wanted her so bad that he knew the only way to get her was to take her by force. But Bella wasn’t enough for him. He wanted Alice too. That’s why he wants to talk to her alone, so he can take her away from me as well. Even as Cailen thought about it, he knew it was ridiculous. Adam would never do such a thing. They had been friends since they were just kids, he surely wouldn’t do something so insane. Sure he wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t a criminal. It was a preposterous thought that was most certainly not true. How could he even think that? All this free time to think was not good for him right now. He looked up to see if maybe Alice was coming out yet. Someone was leaving the building, but it wasn’t Alice. It was that lady from the hospital. Cailen had to do a double take to make sure it was her. As he stared he most definitely knew it was her. There was no doubt to him that this was the same lady who approached Alice when they were outside the hospital. What is she doing here? Is she following Alice? Is she dangerous? He now fully regretted letting Alice go up to Adam’s apartment alone. What if something happened to her on the way up? What if something is happening now?
Cailen’s thoughts went back to the farfetched idea that Adam had something to do with the kidnapping. Maybe she is his accomplice and right now at this moment he is holding Alice hostage. It was doubtful, but either way he couldn’t stand to be down here much longer. He watched as the dark haired woman stalked off to her car. She looks mad. When her back was to him he quickly got out of the car and went straight for the apartment building. He knew Alice wanted him to wait for her, but he could wait any longer. What if she is in trouble? Dashing up the stairs, because the elevator was too slow for him, Cailen made his way up to Adam’s floor. He paused outside the door to see if he could hear anything going on. Better find out what’s going on before I burst in. As he listened, he instantly regretted what he heard. He only caught the end of the conversation. Adam loved Alice. And they were going to cover up whatever exchange went on between them. What was left of Cailen’s already shattered world came down to pieces.
The thought that he was losing Alice to Adam was too much to handle. As he heard Adam’s little plan to cover it up, he heard him come closer to the door and open it up. “Or I could just punch you in the face, no questions asked” he said stepping in front of the newly opened door. Seeing Adam made him want to strangle the man. In the midst of his sister being gone, the guy has to go and steal his girlfriend away from him too. Without waiting for an explanation, Cailen ran into the room, tackled Adam to the ground and clocked him one right in the face. Cailen wasn’t one to usually start wailing on his friends, but with all that happened today it just sort of happened. All of his anger and worry and sadness were just building. He couldn’t contain himself any longer. He knew Alice would be upset and he would regret it later, but right now it sure felt good.
