Tackeron
My friends call me Tack.

User Image

Tackeron was left handed and had taken up the fighting stance since it was less obviouse that he was being defensive. As the boy charged Tackeron waited. The whole reason he gave the count to Dinn was take the advantage of countering the first strike. He hoped to force din onto the defensive with this tactic and then employ his fire later. He learned from his fight with Saya that playing that card too early was troublesome. The fire on his fists were to emphisize his hits and make it more difficult for Dinn to fight back. The problem was he wouldn't be able to keep both the upcomming ground fires and his fists lit at the same time. Still back to the matter at hand, Dinn charged him and moved to take out his left leg which was in the back. Mistake, Tackeron was left handed in writing and fighting. As Dinn made his attack Tack shifted his stance clearing the leg out of the way and bringing down his firey right fist on top of Dinn. Altogether it made a single circular motion that left him momentarily unbalanced since he was standing on only one foot and had motion going in opposite directions. If he missed this counter attack then he would be perfectly open for Din to counter his counter, with a simple trip.

((Ack! I knew I forgot a detail! Gomen Aetherwise. Still not gonna stop me from playing it to my advantage. Like me all my characters are left handed. Tack, Micky D, and Erin are all left handed. Just so we are clear on that in order to avoide future mishaps ^_^ Sorry again for forgettin gthat detail Aetherwise.))

'Damnit!', Fyordinn shouted in his head, though all that came out of his mouth was a low huff. The second he saw the motion of Tack's leg, he knew he'd fallen for something. People could defend on their off-side, it wasn't anything hard, but the salamander's motions on his left were fluid enough that he was either ambidextrous in his fighting, or was left handed. Din guessed it was the latter, he'd been pulled right into a purposeful stance bluff. He had to admit his opponent hadn't let him down yet, he was full of surprises. But Din was quick, hopefully he could give him a few surprises too.

The second he saw the foot dodge his blow, he knew what was coming next. Tack had lured him right into arms reach, and one of those blazing arms was coming down on him. From the motion of the trip, Din had shoulder near the ground and one between him and the other student, and no time to get out of the way. With what time he had he fell onto his back completely, bringing his arms up in front of him in a standard ground-fighting defense. There was no dodging that blow, so Din grit his teeth and grunted as Tack's fist plowed into his upper right arm. The blow hurt, but he'd taken hits before, it was only the first strike, nothing hard to take. What got his attention was the burning sensation that came with the blunt force. He winced and did his best to follow grappling strategy, to take Tack's wrist while it was still in reach from the blow. It would burn like hell grabbing that, but that's what Din's healing was for, for letting him make unexpected moves just like that. At the same time that he tried to take Tack's arm, he rolled his hip over to try and strike Tack's other leg. It would be a pretty move, but once you were on the ground, there wasn't a lot that was. If he could do it right, he'd have Tack on the ground and away from him, if only long enough for Din to roll away and mend his own skin from the burn.

The crowds shuffled this way and that, some going between classes, others done for the day and just enjoying the open air with friends. Raelyn Forscythe found herself in a third category of students who sat around the grounds and made the best of their time. Some talked amongst themselves while studying or eating, but Raelyn sat off and by herself, taking in the scenes. Two books sat beside her on the ground as she leaned back against a small tree in the garden. Melancholy wasn't the word for the young lady who sat alone, she openly gave out smiles to those that passed her, being sure to acknowledge anyone she had classes with. Raelyn was quiet, shy, easily missed in plain sight.

Most people seemed to overlook the young lady, despite her medium height, but when a glance did come her way, she didn't try to avoid it. She was shy, not anti-social. The lycan sat by herself because she enjoyed the people-watching, enjoyed having no conversation to worry about except what was in her own head. It was nice, to look around, to see people smiling and talking, enjoying their lives. Truth be told, the only thing that relaxed Raelyn more than simple quiet was the addition of music, but she'd taken her instrument back to her room after class, mostly because she didn't want to give the other students music they didn't want to hear. Outside of the classroom, the girl was just as shy with her music as she was with her voice. Despite that though, she loved to practice, and didn't mind getting tips on how to be better.

As she sat there in the garden, shifting her vision from the sky to the crowds and back, she caught sight of her music teacher making his way across the grounds. She tilted her head slightly, her face only taking a light turn of curiosity. She could have sworn he had walked by a few moments ago, but she hadn't been paying attention. She shrugged to her own thoughts, deciding it hardly mattered whether she'd mistaken or not. Watching him walk by, she looked down at her feet a moment, then from left to right before she finally got up, grabbed her books and went after him.
"Oh...I'm sorry...excuse me...heh, hello..." she kept her head low and tried to navigate through the crowd, trying to be as courteous as possible as she pushed along. She had delayed when Macideus first passed her, so now she had to walk quickly to catch up to his pace.

"Sir?"She finally piped up as she fell into step beside him. "May I walk with you? I had a question."she kept pace with him as they went, alternating between glancing up at him and looking back down to the ground, all the while trying to shift around other students to stay beside the teacher, "If you aren't too busy...could I maybe use the room to practice sometime. I'd like some extra work with my cello, if you ever have the time, maybe you could sit in and give me some tips, one on one?"

Harmony___Saya___Tennyson
____[[ Name's Saya. And don't you dare call me Minnie. ]]

User Image

Those idiots. Saya felt less and less guilty about her little spying venture the more she stood and watched. In a very short about of time, the fight had began. There was a slight miscalculation on Din's part - Tackeron was left-handed and so that side was his dominant one, making the first attack easy to dodge. This made perfect sense to her - she had picked up on that little detail casually, a random observance she forgot could ever be particularly useful in battle. The elf fell to the ground, an unfortunate occurrence for him. This left him wide open for the salamander's attack, whose hit was going to burn with those pesky flames around his fist. He was really doing that far just to hurt him?! Why on earth wasn't a good, well aimed and balanced punch good enough on its own?! Din's rash fighting style only sought to take advantage of this, only putting himself in harm's way, healing specialist or not, and Saya felt her concern ebb away as annoyance overcame her at the sight.

This made no sense to her. Tackerons had no real reason so be so peeved, at least not that she could see or understand, and Din typically did not fight when emotions so close to rage were involved. It made it petty. He once expressed his utter dislike of it to her, making this sight either hypocritical or poorly justified. Her gut was going to go with poorly justified.
Boys are so stupid. She thought irritably, even more annoyed by the fight given her recent vision. She wanted nothing but peace, and they were stupid to go around hitting each other for no reason whatsoever. Yes, boys were undeniably and ridiculously foolish. Her mother had tried teaching her this, in one of this rare moments in which she had been treated with civility and had thus taken to comforting the birth mother after she had a nasty argument with the man who raised Saya as her clueless but hopelessly devoted father. She had just turned nine, and the comment meant little to her. As far as she could tell, there wasn't a big different between the dangers. Both had their share of stupidity, and society was stock full of hypocrisy. So naturally, men were dolts, because they were people and they appeared to her at a young age to be a general rule for everybody. Now she felt she understood better what her mother's wisdom sought to communicate to her.

Saya turned her back to the right, peering into the empty wire racks and heavy boxes. She tore one open, easily defeating the barrier of tape it challenged her with, and inside she found bundles of papers, both in the form of binders and textbooks.
Which is heavier. She removed a brown, slightly torn folder stuffed full of used parchments, and lifted one of the large texts in her other hand. The textbook was heavy, definitely, and not too hard to swing around. That would have to do.

While the two young men were caught up in their fight, something that bothered the sometimes (admittedly) violent female student perhaps only because of her recent clairvoyant nightmare, the girl they thought was long gone from the building slipped in through the unused door connecting the two training rooms. She walked as quietly as possible at a brisk pace, though it may not have mattered. Screaming "stop" may have gone unheeded, as wrapped up as the toy seemed in their epic battle. They fought with their fists, and Tackeron added a touch of fire to his own tactics, and all Saya had was a textbook. And darn it if she needed anything more, because she was going to make this book count. As Din worked to take advantage of the blow he already received, trying to throw back his opponent, the girl came up right behind Tackeron, rising the book high in the hair before bringing it swiftly to the back of his head. It was a smack upside the head with an extra special touch, basically. Assuming this hit, which unfortunately might surprise him enough to make Din's current efforts successful ones, she moved aside, seeing a bit of undefended stomach under the elf's moving arms. Saya proceeded to toss the book as hard as possible toward his undefended gut (lets hope her aim was high enough), trying to be good and quick so that he could not avoid it.

Whether these two methods worked or not, Saya looked good and annoyed, and a woman with the expression she wore was a scary one indeed. She was near Macideus stern right now, if that meant anything.
"Idiots." Her voice was not raised. Oddly enough, this made her more frightening, as if she was bottling her anger and might unleash about them tenfold at any given moment, should their answers displease her, since she followed the blunt insult with question. "So who wants to explain this?" She crossed her arms over her chest, which might be a good thing. It meant she didn't plan on striking them with her hands anytime soon. "Because I'm having a hard time grasping exactly why you two would openly risk getting yourselves into more trouble just so you could exchange a few bruises." Saya, being an older sister and a younger one, knew how to fall into the strict sibling/babysitter role. She had observed it enough when she was on the other hand of it.

The girl smiled then, but it had a mock sweetness about it, as if it contained evil craftily disguised. It might have been better when she was openly threatening people. Her arms dropped back to her sides, shattering the illusion of her having no intention of further harming them.
"Who wants to go first?"

Tackeron

Tack had not expected Din to grab his arm while still on fire, but as the Elf gripped Tackeron's arm something heavy and hard collided with the back of Tackeron's head with a resounding thud. Next thing he knew Din had thrown him to the ground with a second thud.

"Owww....not cool. He hit m-uh oh."

He caught sight of the very pissed Saya hurling the book down to Din. Regardless of whether it hit or not she then spoke with her arms crossed. He didn't stand instead he looked at her from the ground. He had to otilt his head back to see her so she looked quite upside down to him.

"Hi, Saya. Well do we really need an explination. I mean it was a friendly sparring match right Din?"

He said more to Din then to Saya. He had said that Saya was already mad at him and that another fight couldn't make things any worse then they already were but as he looked up to her face now, he was begginning to seriously doubt that. In fact she looked as though she would toss them up in a tornado if they said even one thing she didn't like.

Macideus
No one ever calls him Micky D's to his face.

Macideus noticed the student once she had piped up and spoke above the crowed that he was swiftly navagating through. He turned his attention to her but didn't stop walking. While he really should have turned her down until he confirmed Saya was still in her room he couldn't bring himself to not help a student in need.

"Oh miss Forscythe I didn't see you there. You want to use the room for practice? I see nothing wrong with that and I can certainly sit in with you. But right now I need to make sure miss Tennyson is behaving. If you come with me we can finish this then arrage times for you to come and use the room yourself. Does that sound good?"

He said again still weaving his way through the student body with an unusual grace. it seemed that to him stepping around people was reletively easy. He was after all still in a hurry to check up on Saya. The more he walked the more he had a sinking feeling that when he got there the room would be quite empty. He had no idea just how accurate that feeling would be.

Din didn't have much time to enjoy his successful grapple before he heard a strike he wasn't expecting. His glance fell on the angry Saya just as something big nailed him in the gut. It was fitting, really, his eyes analyzed the annoyed expression on her face at the same exact moment that his stomach registered all the air being taken out of it. It would help him associate that look with pain in the future. He almost would have laughed if he wasn't in pain and out of air.

After an initial grunt of surprised pain, Din coughed until air filled his lungs again. He sat up quick holding his stomach, and turned away from the girl defensively. The moment he could make sound with his mouth he was uttering a healing spell that was very familiar to him. It took just a moment before the burns that had formed on his hands disappeared in the gentle blue light.
"You got a special way of showing concern, you know tha'?" he replied, flexing his fingers and shaking his head as he got to his feet. What on earth was the escapist doing lecturing them on ill behavior? He was certainly not the type to explain his actions, but Saya's glare seemed to make it worth his while."What he said," he answered, following Tack's explanation, "the dragon wanted t' spar, and c'mon you know me. I can't NOT fight, you aren't really surprised are ya?"He shook one hand off towards the ground and shook the other off towards the back of Tackeron's head. He wasn't about to put full effort into healing such a minor thing, but the blue light that fell from his hand would at least take away a lingering headache. He went to the door and took a peek down the hall before turning back to Saya, " Ey, speaking of getting in trouble...how did you beat M back here? Won't he be kinda pissed at you too?"

Raelyn nodded quietly as she tucked some stray hair behind her ear. She kept with his pace that she had fallen into, but took a step back to properly follow his lead."Yes of course, I'll wait. But I do appreciate it, I've been working on a new piece lately, but something just doesn't have that...sound." Inside the building, it became even harder to keep up with the teacher. He seemed very intent to get to whatever room he was headed to. She eventually just had to fall in line directly behind him to avoid getting left behind."Tennyson? You mean Saya? Is she alright? Well, I guess it's not really my business, I'm sorry." She continued to follow him, silent now. She didn't really know Saya, they had never spoken, but she was in her class. She'd heard all the stories about the girl, about her constant running. But what had sparked her curiosity now was a whole new stream of rumors.

The moment Macideus' weapons class had dismissed, Raelyn had heard all the passing words of the classmates that walked by. From the group of them, she felt like she had heard exactly what had happened, even if she had to take the sections from multiple people. It all made a very interesting story, Saya's episode. But it still didn't explain why he was in such a hurry to check on her now. Was he worried she would try running? So soon after her breakdown? Raelyn wished she could help, but she simply stayed behind him and kept following quietly. She wasn't familiar with Saya, didn't know her scent well enough to find it. If she did however, she would have been aware that that particular scent was getting fainter as they neared her room, not stronger as it would if she was there. Unfortunately, that was useless if she couldn't identify the smell, it was just another face in the crowd to her nose, and if Saya was alone, Raelyn's ears wouldn't pick up her voice in the building anyway. Her senses had limitations, after all.

Harmony___Saya___Tennyson
____[[ Name's Saya. And don't you dare call me Minnie. ]]

User Image

"You encased your fists in flames, Tack! How is that friendly?!" One thing could be certain from her actions thus far and her persisting tone: if Saya was going to have kids of her own one day, they would not be overly eager to defy her. Half-baked excuses would not save these two from anything, least of all a rage they could not understand. If was admittedly unfair. There was no way for them to know exactly why she was reacting with more than usual irritation, and to be fair, that wasn't their fault. Her episode had drowned her in the chaos and bloodshed of battle. No matter how friendly the sparring match, until she fully recovered from what she had seen, any bit of violence was going to make her cringe. Rather than communicate what only Macideus knew thus far, she did the reasonable, womanly thing: she explained nothing.

All Din got for his comment on the girl's gestures of affection was a prompt glare. If looks could kill and all the jazz - you know how it goes. Fans hanging off her hip, it would not take much effort for Saya to cut him down where we sat wounded. Despite her current dislike of violence, this seemed entirely possible. How she retained the right to carry those weapons was mystery, come to think of it. It wouldn't be surprising if she talked circles around the staff until they were too confused to deny the right most students had, as well as basic trust. Not that her actions displayed much - she didn't exact deserve the luxury. With Macideus around, her elementary skills and talent wouldn't get her too far. It was her unpredictability that made her a trying opponent, something different from what Din possessed by effective all the same, not her inherent skill or experience. Sylphs only got so far with weaponry. They preferred their basic elemental magic anyway.
"Being surprised and being irritated with utter stupidity are too very different things." She informed him when it came to Din's next bit of verbal expression. There was no chance her temper was cooling, not yet. "You by no means have to fight. You lack the capacity to simply let it go." Saya snapped to add onto her previous retort. She found this two infuriating at the moment. Bashing their heads together might have been fun, if they were closer. Darn.

"That's different and you know it. For starters, I'm plenty used to getting in trouble. They can hardly punish me more than they already are, Macideus included." This young lady had an answer to everything. It was a special talent, and one they kept her stubborn personality intact. "Now Din, if you get caught, what do you think happens to your hobbies?" Saya challenged him. "Do you think for one second new watchful eyes won't catch you? The only reason you've gotten this far is because you took extra precaution not to get caught. If Macideus had not left my door unlocked, he would be here right now, and he would have been the one to catch the two of you." No matter how that justified there short-lived sparring match, this could not be denied. They risked more than they realized for what they claimed was harmless fun, an explanation this young lady never bought. "The only reason you weren't in more trouble is because I managed to convince a roomful of peeved professors that I kidnapped you to aide in my escape." Saya turned on Tackeron when she said this, making sure he knew that Din would not have been the only one to meet consequences if Macideus had beaten her here.

For the hundredth time that day, the girl was reminded that she had started to care too much. She covered for Tackeron that morning, had allowed herself to be too honest with him the night before, and had grown closer to the elf she tried to keep at arm's length than she ever cared to realize. These two were getting to her like no one else in the Academy could, not even the professor who had been on her tail from the start and heard her horrifying vision that day.
"Just don't be so reckless." Her tone lost its edge after a light sigh, and she merely sounded exhausted. "I'm going back before Macideus sends out a search party. Tomorrow I'll be moving my seat in class, Din. " This was all the warning the elf was going to get, and it sounded sudden and out of place but she felt the need to say it then and didn't want to repeat herself later. She needed to distance herself from him, from both of them really, before she got in too deep and her escape plans were made that much more difficult. Saya turned to leave and waved back to them with a casual flick of her hand.

Tackeron
My friends call me Tack.

Tackeron wanted to point out that he had used fire on her as well during their sparring match, and that he had considered that match just as friendly as this one but something in his gut sccreamed "don't be stupid that's just asking for trouble" as confident as he was saying that would just be crossing the line into the stupid end of things. She was right on just about every level and he simply hung his head in shame as she berated the pair. There wasn't anything to say really when he thought about it. So for a moment he sat quietly but when Saya reached the door he spoke up again, although it seemed Tack had switched onto a totally different track from everyone else.

"Saya, would you like to go to the ball this friday with me?"

Now, oddly enough he had asked out more than just a few girls before, and despite his confidence which he was sure to be a trait that would attract some he ended up getting refused every time. Always the same excuse too, "I'm already going with some one" which in his mind translated too "I will be finding someone else to go with but I feel like being nice about refusing you." needless to say this frustrated him. Still it wasn't like Saya was some last ditch effort, in fact she was reletively high up. He just found that high up girls were for some reason unapproachable for him. But right now he felt like being daring, and this ,as it turned out, completly impulsive action was the result of a desire to accomplish at least something and hoppefully lighten the mood. He might even get to see a pink face again but he figured she was too pissed and in the end would end up getting rejected. However, he knew few people that could stay focused on much else after a question like that, and even fewer of them were adolescent's like them.

Macideus
No one ever calls him Micky D's to his face.
User Image

When they arrived at Saya's room he was not even surprised to find it empty. He sighed and placed his head in the palm of his hand and then slid it up his forhead and ran it through his hair.

"You know, sometimes I wonder why I even bother to check. I mean, it is pretty obvious that she wouldn't stick around."

He sighed again running his hand through his hair a second time. He lead Realyn downstairs to Erin's room and knocked on the door. Erin answered.

"Yeeeessss?"

For some reason she sounded unusually sly, it made one feel like she couldn't be trusted. Why she did this was beyond Macideus, maybe she was jsut feeling silly. So he got straight to the point but, before he opened his mouth she spoke.

"Gone again? Saya is such trouble isn't she. Don't tell me, you want me to check up on her using the school's magic eye? I can tap into it but the Headmistress will require an explinationnn. She will certainly give you and earful again."

She had said 'explination' in a sing-song tone that for some reason made the hair on the back of Macideus's neck stand on end. Must have been the fact that she certaily sounded out of tone for whatever she was trying to mimick, or it could have been the fact that her voice cracked inexplicibly.

"I know."
"Right this way Macideus and little Realyn."

She made a point to try and remember as many student's as possible, she called it a mind excersize that helped when casting a great many spells or very complicated spells. She certainly had the magical abilities to support the theory. The pair were lead inside. Her room was a bit cluttered but neat. Her bed was unadorned and against the right hand wall, it had purple covers. At the end of it was just enough room to place her dresser which was relatively decorative. Her window had drapes pulled off to each side, the drapes were purple. The window sill was cluttered with little beakers and the like that were filled with various colored liquids and solids and a tea set. On the left hand wall were two shelves and a pair of chests. In the chests were spell ingrediants, and the shelves were overloaded with books. On the floor was a circular purple rug with a hole in the middle and in the exposed ground in the hole was a spell circle where she practiced and meditated. The walls were all purple, she seemed to enjoy the color. Erin walked over to the window sill and poured some liquid from a couple of the beakers into the pot. She didn't even heat it as steam began to rise from the top before she put the lid on.

"Green tea?"

She asked picking up the tray and placing it on the rug and gestering to Macideus and Realyn to sit. She herself sat in the middle of the spell circle.

Fyordinn crossed his arms with an unhappy expression as Saya threw her logic at him. The not having to fight he could try and argue. Sure he could help it, but why would he? It was one of the things that kept his days interesting. What with how he had to spread his town visits out to avoid detection, there wasn't a lot that interested him on the grounds. The trees were too spread out and far from the school to enjoy any tree-running, and besides that, tree running wasn't a thrill for wood elves like himself, it was just as natural as jogging. There were ways to make it fun, like everything else, but again there just weren't enough...well...woods to enjoy himself. Fighting was fun.

Unfortunately, her retort about getting in trouble was accurate. She did know how he worked in that regard. He pushed the rules, he bent the rules, but he was careful never to get caught []i]breaking the rules. Not having actual scores against you kept most teachers off your back. Officially at least. Anybody with eyes knew he was a little off, and worth keeping watch on, but until he got caught doing something fairly bad, they wouldn't put enough effort into watching him to make life difficult. Scared of getting in trouble? No, he wasn't. He was just scared of not being able to get into more, ultimately, and Saya called him right out on it. Still he could only sit and grumble unhappily at her logic. He got into scraps frequently, and it hadn't screwed him over just yet. But she had a good point bring Macideus in. He hadn't fought in direct violation of the man before. That would be a line not worth crossing. All things considered, Saya had him pinned, he'd been an idiot to accept the fight, an even bigger one to accept officially starting it.

None of that really bothered him though, he could take a lecture, he could listen to Saya tell him he wasn't right in the head, it was just what they did. No, it was her last statement that took his attention, evident by a sudden flick of his gaze at her eyes, a confused look across his face. He stared at her a moment, but didn't have words to say.
"What? Why is there a...? That doesn't even..." He finally just shut his mouth and shook his head. he couldn't figure out her reaction, one that seemed overly harsh to him. 'What does she mean move her seat? What, is she just going to stop talking to me now? Because I got in one more fight? Wha' the...' He tried to bring his face back to normal as quickly as possible, taking away the expression from a moment ago. Letting her know it bothered him was probably a bad move.

He watched her walk out, still trying to pick apart her logic, when Tack dropped what was probably the last thing he expected to hear at the moment.
"Really?" he blurted out, surprise taking over any control he might have had at hiding his thoughts, "THIS seems like a good moment? Seems like most people would take a girl out first, or wait for a cute sunset," He was smirking again, but it wasn't his usual quirky smile, this grin had 'are you out of your mind?' written all over it. "but I s'pose tickin' her off beyond all measure is a good method too. Maybe I'm just old-fashion. Here," he added, turning back to Saya. He pushed the book she'd thrown across the floor to her with a kick, "you dropped that."

Raelyn put her head down and stayed quiet when they got to the room. It had been empty and she imagined that it did not put Macideus in a particularly happy mood to find it that way. She did briefly take notice of the girl's room, though. It seemed very nice to the eye, but she noticed one major thing about the space: It didn't seem very lived in. It didn't seem like anyone's home. It seemed to support Saya's constant escapes, the room did not look like she planned to stay in it. 'So set on leaving...you can't help wondering why...' she thought before continuing to follow the teacher back down the halls. With the room empty, she couldn't be sure where he was going next. Was he going anywhere? Did he know where she was or was he just going to start looking for her?

She wasn't left wondering very long as they stopped at another room before even leaving the building. She had to catch herself quickly to avoid accidentally running into Macideus when he stopped at the door. Barely catching herself in time, she looked up, embarrassed, but he didn't seem bothered by it. Raelyn's shy attitude seemed to change visibly when the door opened. Miss March was easily her favorite staff member on the grounds, she enjoyed her personality and always seemed to feel more at ease in her class, despite not having the magical inclinations to use most of the spells in said class. Her embarrassed expression quickly became a timid smile as the teachers spoke. Timid only because she wasn't sure whether or not Macideus would approve of her amusement from the situation. It was hard not to find at least a little entertainment in it, after all.

She entered the room behind her music teacher hesitantly, despite being invited in.
'Am I allowed? The eye seems like faculty business, maybe I should have stayed outside.' She kept her concerns quietly in her own head, not wanting to insult Miss March's hospitality. Surely if she'd invited her in by name she was allowed to be present. Besides, it wasn't as though she could ever hope to access this 'magic eye' that she was talking about, it was obviously very particular in use if Macideus had to get her to use it for him. When something was set up like that, it probably didn't matter if students were present or not.

"Oh, yes, ma'm I'd love some," she answered, most of her tension evaporating at the offer, "Thank you very much." She took a seat where she was beckoned on the carpet. Tea was by far her favorite drink, and green tea was especially high on her list, it always seemed so calming, not to mention that it tasted amazing. She relaxed where she sat, nodding with a content smile in gratitude. She was curious about this method of spying that the school had, but it seemed best to avoid questions and just sit quietly until they were done. Even if she didn't have a clue what was going on, she had delicious tea, that was enough to keep her happy.

It really was a good thing Tackeron decided it was best to keep his mouth shut during the scolding the young lady released on the two, because he might have received a semi-cruel awakening. Saya would have been very quick, for example, to point out that she had not considered that a friendly sparring match. The second flames rushed at her, a goal (that she took seriously enough to push Din away lest it be tampered with) hung before her. The match meant escaping or not. The fact that the boy was willing to stand in her way was enough to make her want to seriously hurt him. Given her personality, if he had countered with a reminder of yesterday's match, she would have bluntly informed him of all this. They were not the kindest words to offer someone in the least. But isn't honesty the best policy?

Since the salamander left his argument unspoken, and the elf had no response but some brief, confused stuttering, the girl had made it all the way to the door she used to sink in before something stopped her. What was that something you ask? Shock, plain and simple. Out of all the things she thought they might say to her before she returned to her dorm, a date request was not one of them. If Tack was truly used to be left without a girl hanging daintily on his arm, than Saya was the same in that she never was that girl for any other person. She had attended balls and parties in which she had been forced to dance, the card adorning her name, a popular characteristic in their time for young women to leave about, was always filled. This, however, had more to do with her family and their wealth, the fact that she had been forced to dress in luxurious clothes dictated by current fashion, and the fact that she was nit a hideous beasts and therefore worth pursuing. These were not dates, and those who were fooled by the masquerade her mother sometimes forced into performing were soon to find out that her personality was not charming or delightfully timid and soft-spoken. A man would come to her door, ready at the prospect of being a suitor to a Tennyson daughter, and he would leave running and screaming as if he had found the undead in her place. Saya, after all, loved her games, and they were subjected to whatever suited her fancy the moment they stepped into the entrance hall of her family's manor. Either that or they would find an elder sibling or her mother had put her in a foul mood, which may have been more terrifying than the playful whims of a girl set to scare them away. Courtship was not her cup of tea.

After her initial weeks at the Academy, most of the males attending quickly decided that, half sylph Tennyson girl or not, she was not worth the effort or courting. Saya was perfectly content with this - she found the idea shallow, annoying, and a mere hobby of the time that meant little to those involved. Love was not a part of it, and while not imagined as a romantic by most, if she could not have a relationship involving that feeling, then she did not want it at all. So Tackeron blurting out his question blew her mind. She had not pretended to be something she was not to impressed him for the sake of her parents' social appearance and she had just finished lecturing him after beating him with a rather large textbook. So, why? Was it a prank? A joke? He wasn't laughing though. There was no sense of amusement on his face, but. . . maybe sincerity. This was even more surprising. So, he meant it then?
"Tack, you know that engaged stuff was just acting, right?" It was the only thing Saya could think of to say after turning to face him with in innocent disbelief. And maybe that he wasn't entirely drug-free, not that they had passed an opium dens the night before, or that he had the opportunity or need to visit one.

"I don't really like attending balls-" Saya had meant to explain the truth, that she hated the dressing up and small talk and the antique, outdated purpose of the whole thing. It would not be a lie, and it did not require her analyzing her own feelings to come up with a thought out response. Tack was fun to tease, of course, but she would have to live without that entertainment, just as she would have to distance herself from the only real friend she had at this cursed place.

But something stopped her, cutting off her explanation. Din had interrupted her. Saya stopped the book the slid eagerly across the smooth floors with her foot, not even glancing down as she did so since she had seen and heard it coming. Her eyes looked over at the elf and she somehow felt. . .annoyed. Tack had been irritated with the elf, they had turned that into a sparring match, and now Din was purposely picking at the salamander, sarcastically mocking what most men might commend Tackeron for attempting for the sheer bravery the rash action took, all risks considered. Saya did not feel protective; there was no sudden urge to defend the boy. Instead, she felt like Din was saying no for her. Nevermind that those words never left the elf's mouth - he had pointed out Tack's folly and acted as if it would cost him a positive response. The girl could not explain why this annoyed her so much, but it did. The fact that she had no explanation did bother her, but before she could stop herself she was speaking, and there would no talking it back.

"At least he isn't predictable." Oh dear. That sounded like a defense. Saya knew her mistake, knew it was a misleading response, but Din had unintentionally triggered her stubbornness, and it was not stopping yet. "Just because I'm angry doesn't mean I'm not a girl, Din. And to be perfectly honest, it was rather nice that Tack didn't leave me to whatever fate I may have encountered yesterday and had the decency to care whether I ran or not, despite hardly knowing me at all. He may have ruined my escape beyond repair, but at least he showed some concern." What? No, she wasn't holding a grudge against Din for something like that, was she? Saya never wanted to be followed. She felt realization ring within her despite this firm truth. Darn her subconscious! It had been hiding that she felt close enough to him to wish he cared more, to act like a concerned friend. He was letting her do as she pleased and she had assumed that was enough. If she had not ignored her subconscious before blurting all that out, maybe Saya could have realized sooner that Din was already a good friend and she could have walked away then, before it got harder. But now it was late, and she was stuck, having declared there would be distance between them and having silently vowed not to let Tack a step closer to avoid repeating her mistake, but also having blurted out what she would have much rather kept in her head.

Where's your gavel? Your jury? // What's my offense this time? // You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me
Well, sentence me toanother life

Well, you treat me just like another stranger // Well, it's nice to meet you, sir // I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out

This is the BEST THING that could've happened // Any longer and I wouldn't have made it
It's not a war, no, it's not a rapture // I'm just a person but you can't take it

The same TRICKS that, that once fooled me // They won't get you anywhere // I'm not the same kid from your memory
Well, now I can fend for myself

He had sat quietly listening to Din splutter when suddenly he was addressed after asking Saya out. Din seemed more taken aback than Saya did, well unexpected actions demanded unexpected result's right? Although he did agree with Din mentally, those did sound like more appropriate ideas for normal girls but there was hardly anything normal about Saya. So instead of taking it as an insult he answered matter-of-factly to Din. But first he needed to answer Saya's statement even if she didn't finish explaining it.

"I know that already, ball is just the first thing that came to mind. I liked dancing with you at the tavern and was hoping for a second dance, of course if you would rather do something else that's fine too."

He rounded on Din's statement after explaning farther to Saya.

"Yes, now is the best time. Some how I don't think Saya is the type to go for sunsets."

He returned Din's smirk with a smile of his own that said "I have no idea what I am doing." Tackeron was, at this point, completely winging it, as was his style. Still he did hope she would say yes, that would be a Nice change of pace. Besides, it was only a first date. He had come to understand that things didn't really get seriouse right off the bat. If nothing else it was an oppertunity to make amends and hopefully get back on Saya's good side...or, as before mentioned, just lighten the current mood, which he could happily say had at least some success. He didn't expect Saya to defend his statement shortly afterwords though. Add on to that her compliment about him caring despite screwing up yesterday certainly made him feel much better about himself.

"Two points for me"

He thought happily to himself as saya finished. He spoke up when she was done ranting.

"I'm glad you appreciated that...but I really am sorry. I didn't know Macideus was right behind me. Anyways, you don't have to answer right now, I bet Macideus will walk through those doors any minute. We really should look like nothing happened."

He was forgetting one detail about acting like nothing happened and that was leaving no evidence. Now if Saya took the book and left that most blatent peice of of evidence would be gone what he was forgetting was the melted Lucerne Hammer on the ground. Even if it wasn't evidence of a fight Macideus would be less than pleased to see it in it's current condition.
