*Gothika sits down and pulls her transfiguration book along with quills and in and parchment out of her bag and rolls her eyes at the conversation as she transforms her match into a needle*

*Walks over to Aludra's desk with a less than approving look on her face*

Aludra, please be respectful of your other students. I will not ask you again.

*Hearing the rustling of a new student, I turn from Aludra and smile at Gothica.*

Welcome to the classroom Gothica. It's nice to see that you have come prepared. Five points to Hufflepuff for your quick work of the lesson.

Aludra Yvette...

"With all due respect Professor he butted into my business." Aludra said sincerly. She decided to drop the subject, seeing as it wasnt going to do her any good. "Anyway, what are we supposed to do now? Have we got any homework?"

Yes, do we have homework? And have you planned when the next lesson will be, so that I can be sure I am available?

*I smile calmly at Alurda and give a slight nod*

I understand that Aludra, which is why I didn't take any house points, but there are more respectful ways to say the same thing. And in Mr. Telvanni's defense, as a prefect he is responsible for the goings on of students. The matter is behind us now so no need to dwell on it.

*Turning, I smile and Naomi.*

There is not a fixed date for the lesson as of yet. I know that students have quite a load of classes so I try to be accommodating. I can tell you that the next lesson will be a continuation of basic transfiguration spells beginning with transfiguring the needles back into matches and continuing with transfiguring a beetle into a button, making a segue into switching spells.

*I walk up to the blackboard, writing as I speak*

As for homework, I would like a small blurb about switching spells and how useful and or limited they are. I'd like your opinion on if you believe that they're worth all the time spent practicing or just a cute time waster. There is not a wrong answer when it comes to the second part so please feel free to express yourselves.

There are two ways to go about submitting your homework. You may either send it to me in a PM by owl, or turn them in during class. Either way is fine.

In my opinion, switching spells are useful or meaningless depending on your intent. One may use them as a parlor trick at times, but in the event of an emergency, they can be life-saving.

If one had their house invaded and could turn themselves into a harmless piece of furniture, then switching spells are indeed useful. In other situations, if one were to fall and scrape their knees, it's more useful cast a spell to stop the bleeding than it is to conjure up a bandage. In this way it's limited, but it all depends on what is best for the situation at hand.

*Since Porthos is away delivering a letter, I’ll have to turn this in during class. So I take out some parchment, some ink and a quill and begin writing.*

” Technically we have not been doing Switching Spell’s as Switching Spells are used to switch the places of two different objects. Like when Neville Longbottom accidentally put his own ears on a cactus.”

“The spell we have been doing merely transforms the current object into another. So this type of Transfiguration magic is useful if one needs to quickly hide by posing as furniture or to turn an approaching enemy into say a ferret.”

“A lot of spells could seem useless, but under the right situations come in handy.”

How right you are Nerevar Telvanni. I wanted to get the class to become familiar with them before they were attempted in class. Five points to Gryfendor for completing you homework in a timely manner.

"Thank you professor." she said as she wrote down the notes from the black board. she then also started writing down her homework assignment.

For the second in lesson, we will begin with transfiguring our needles back into matches. While still potentially dangerous, matches provide less of a threat than rampaging needles.

*I walk over to the black board, writing directly under the previous incantation "NECESSITAIBUS" the counter to that spell, "ACUS"*

Now students, don't let previous success cloud your mind. You're working in reverse now, so it's important to concentrate on matches rather than needles.

Gothika looked at her needle and concentrated on turnning it back into a match when the professor was finished talking. she wrote down the notes that were on the blackboard.

Absolutely marvelous Gothica. Five points to Huffelpuff. Please go to my desk and collect a jar for the second part of the lesson.
