Khaterah was raised in the Qyrhyeshti clan. She and her father, as well as her two younger brothers, were found by the Qyrhyeshti after her mother was killed by a group of lions, dehydrated and almost dead. The Qyrhyeshti claimed that the Burkuteshti were responsible for her mother's death. As a result, her father flung himself into the war against the Burkuteshti. Khaterah isn't so sure though. The lions she remembered attacking her mother look nothing like any lions she's seen in the fighting . . .

Muntidato is a noble in the Suka'Fumo. All the world may be a stage, but to Muntidato, all the world is a game board. Born to a noble family of little repute, Muntidato has built himself a reputation as a keen and intelligent dealer. He is fixer of problems, trading favors and information, and no one knows what he's really after. As far as anyone can tell, he keeps lower ranked lions in line when they start to grumble, helps to keep in and out of pride trade flowing, and anything else that takes his fancy. If he wasn't so good at making the lions above him happy, he wouldn't have lasted this long.
Muntidato is different to different lions, but he plays his cards close to his chest and moves his pieces where he wants. Whether he has any real friends, well . . . that's another story.
