"Please don't rain, please don't rain, please don't rain," Danny had said to the sky while he packed up a bag for his trip. The sky however did not listen and soon everything outside was wet and soggy. In his back he packed some dry food that wouldn't spoil, an extra change of clothes (he didn't mind re-wearing stuff if it turned out they were gone for longer than two days), a thermos, a handful of pokétreats to give him an edge in catching something, and his whip. It was a cheep replica of his favorite movie character's signature weapon - the coiled whip of Montana Smith. (Supposed to be their version of Indiana Jones. Just did "State" + "Common Last Name".)
"All done!" he declared. However there was one thing he was missing... an umbrella. He just shrugged though and put on his backpack. If you weren't willing to get a little wet then you might never have fun!
((So, where are people so I can meet up with someone?))

Robin had already made an arrangement with Rancher Bill, who had generously waived his rental fee for a song, and the street musician was now becoming acquainted with the Pokemon he'd be renting – a big Onix sporting a purple bandana tied around her horn.
Had he owned a change of clothes, Robin might have been happy to stand out in the rain. But in the interest of keeping his only outfit dry, he'd instead coaxed the Onix into a sheltered area of the ranch. The Pokemon was resting her head on the ground, apparently enjoying the attention as Robin stroked her nose.
As Robin looked around, he noted that other trainers had stocked up on sunblock and potions and the like. He hadn't had enough money to buy more than a small supply of food for himself, presuming that all the rental Pokemon would be provided for or that they could forage for themselves. What did giant rock-creatures eat, anyway?

GwynnieKittenLover Lisa chuckled as the Banette went loose. "I see you have a ghost pokemon as well. Mischievous, aren't they? By the way, I'm Lisa, pleasure to meet you. I see we're in the same group," she chimed, then bowed a little in her saddle. "So, are you excited about seeing the swarm? I'll admit I'm hoping to take one home with me. An eevee, that is." The ponyta Lisa was riding on snorted, looking at the other horse and rider combination that its rider was taking to. It stomped the ground, a challenge to a race. She needed to remember to tell her sister about that Banette. Then again Cass had said that Yuzu hardy listened to her either, so it was only a given that the ghost pokemon wouldn't listen to her either. "That little brat's my sister's, she just lent her to me for a while." She gave a slight shrug, glaring as the Banette hovered in front of her face cackling. Shooing Yuzu away as best she could Tabitha, smiled, chuckling at the slight bow. "Pleased to meet you Lisa, I'm Tabitha and that...insane Banette's Yuzuhira." Under her the ponyta snorted rearing a little at the challenge coming from the other. "I wouldn't mind catching one. Though I really want to see thm together and if I catch one I catch one.Click the picture for full size

"True, that's the way things work in the world of pokemon, at least for the casual trainer like myself," Lisa smiled warming, hiding the fact that she was not at all a "casual" trainer. Ever since capturing Midnight a few years ago, she had been swept up into the world of pokemon by the gales of change, the gales that originated here, in Zatao. "So, if you catch one, it will be your first then?" Lisa asked. But before she could get an answer, her ponyta whirled around, flicked its tail, and took off. "W-wha?" Lisa gasped as she clutched the reigns. Bandit barely managed to hang on to Lisa's head, letting out an excited squeak. he chu-ed.((Can we pick this up later? I have to go to lunch now.))

"Same here." Nodding Tabitha had to hide a grin. She was anything but a normal 'casual' trainer. Especially with her parents being breeders and her older siblings on the warpath to becoming champions. Champions in two different fields of work of course. "It'll be my first pokemon caught in Zatao." The words hadn't even left her mouth properly before her own Ponyta was racing after Lisa's. Somewhere near her head Yuzu was cackling happily. She had a feeling the ponyta had gone through some sort of challenge or the other, and she didn't like it one bit. But what could she do? Other than hold on that was.Click the picture for full size

By occasionally ducking under eaves Danny made it to Bill's without getting soaked. He caught the tail end of a musical performance by a rather raggedy looking lad and then approached Bill to get his own rental as well.
"Be careful with this'un, she ain't liking the damp too much at all," the Rancher warned Danny as he handed him the lead on a cranky looking Ponyta who's flames were down to their smallest. Steam rose from the tiny flames whenever the rain hit them.
Danny thanked the man and led the Ponyta over to the sheltered area where he saw a large Onix and the one whp'd been playing a tune earlier. He patted the Ponyta's nose to try and settle her down. Without rain falling on her, her flames grew some but she was still clearly upset.

"Hello," Robin said with a nod to the boy with the twitchy Ponyta, as his rental Onix raised her head slightly to inspect the other Pokemon.
"Nice day for a road trip, eh?" the man continued, with an ironic smile. "What group are you in?" Robin looked the Ponyta over for the tell-tale coloured bandana.

Danny took his hat off and shook some of the rain water off of it. Somehow he doubted he looked as cool doing it as Montana Smith did. "Yeah, the best," he said sarcastically. He looked down the lead line where it connected with a lightweight harness for riding later in the day. Attached to it was a rather garish purple bandanna. He grimaced a bit at the color, not cool at all. He'd hoped for something like brown or dark red. "I'm in the purple group."
He put his hat back on and smiled. "I'm Danny." He looked about to say more, but his Ponyta chose that moment to shake what water was still clinging to her coat off herself and onto Danny. Fortunately it wasn't much, the Ponyta's own heat had evaporated some of it now that they had shelter.

Robin chuckled as a few stray drops hit him, and the Onix let out a deep, creaky noise of protest as one struck her squarely on the nose, then gave the Ponyta a disapproving glare. The street musician brushed the drops off of his coat, and gently dried the Onix's nose with his scarf. "I'm in the same group. Guess we'll be travelling together," he said, holding out a hand to shake Danny's. "I'm Robin."((I'm going to be gone for the next two hours or so. See you all later. smile ))

To anyone in red group~
Lumina gave the other girl a wave, the trip to the pokemart now completely forgotten. Well, since she was near the grouping area, might as well see who else had a pokemon with something red tied to them.
The rental ponyta trotted after her, shaking its relief to avoid the rain off with a flick of her head. Lumina smirked at her, resting a pale hand alongside the ponyta's face, relishing the warmth for a moment before turning back to the grouping area at the ranch and nearly tackling down the first person she met, "Hello!"

"Woah! Slow up, please!" Lisa said as she pulled back on the reigns to no avail. The ponyta just kept going faster, racing along the outer ranch fence and jumping any obstacles in its way. Lisa sighed and instead of fighting the racing horse, leaned forward to make the pair more aerodynamic. "Just be careful, alright?" She warned the over eager horse, although she couldn't hide the huge grin she had. The ponyta snorted, and with a whip of its flaming tail, took off through the rain. Bandit turned around to keep an eye on their "opponents" for the race, waving to Lumina as they passed.Racing Instructions0/80 spaces 800/800 hp ((here's hoping I'm allowed to do this. x3))

Cooper whined and shook his whole body again once enough water was on his furcoat and tried to get out of the rain by sitting under an umbrella set up on one of tables of a restaurant. Of course, being an arcanine, he only got his head, neck and front paws under the umbrella.
A tall, dark wirey haired man stare at this phenomenon and sighed, shaking his head. "Oh arceus.....You are a big arcanine.....not a little puppy...its just a little drizzel, Cooper." When the large canine complied, he sighed in relief. "Alright, lets go back to getting the rest of the supplies, I still need the mini emergency aid kit and being that you threw me off three times on our way HERE, I predict that I will buy two."
Velasco the murkrow caw a laugh from his trainer's shoulder as the man started walking towards the open pharmacy. Nishant, the sableeye, however, was napping on Cooper's back. IF anyone leaned against the arcanine, they would feel like they were in a sauna, as the warm furcoat evaporated some of the rain, and Nishant was loving it.

ooc: for anyone who wants to respond?
So maybe having rich, overly-protective parents was a good thing? When Dace had dialed them up and told them what was going on, his mother nearly shoved money at him through the receiver. 'Don't you get hurt, and take this money! Be safe! Don't do anything stupid! Take your vitamins! CAREFUL! LOVE YOU!'
And that was the reason why he left. She was just too annoying.
So now he had his pokemon rented (a rather rambunctious tauros with a funny, short tail) and he had even tested riding the creature. He wasn't too hard to control, but it was obvious that Dace had little-to-no experience when it came this this kinda thing. He slid off the pokemon, patted its head awkwardly, before straightening his shirt and raking a hand through his red hair, squinting and scrunching his nose as rain plopped in fat drops on his face.
"I hate rain!" the young man exclaimed in disdain, moving with his tauros towards the stalls, where, at least, it was dry.

Alexa had just finished packing for the trip back to her home. She had been out training for quite a while and needed to head home. It just happened to be pure luck that she had heard about the Eevee swarm going on at Motterossa, which was where she normally lived. Deciding that it was a sign to go home she began making plans. While shopping one day she had heard about the huge trip that other trainers would be making and rushed to sign up. It would be good to be in company of others for once.
"Alright. I think that's it Vincent, Apolla." She said to her two pokemon. Vincent had all kinds of packs tied down on his huge body for the trip back. Alexa wanted to make sure she had enough food for the huge Arcanine. "Come on you two let's go to the Pokemart." There were a few last items she needed. She had an umbrella open cover her and her Vulpix while Vincent just walked in the light rain. He spotted another Arcanine and barked to him

((OOC: I'm not going to be on again until 9pm est tonight. I have to head to work so this is going to have to be quick))
Tygress looked over the ranch in admiration. It certainly was an impressive sight. This wouldn't be her first time dealing with a rental pokemon but it would be the first time riding one. She continued her approach her eevee Eden on one side and luxio Peanut on the other. The two very possesive female pokemon had finally reached a balance when it came to their trainers attention. There was bound to be an arguement soon though as Eden at least would have to take to her pokeball for the journey. "This should be an interesting trip," she said and the two pokemon agreed enthusiastically.
