"No, no, it's one of those generic three-story malls with stores on all sides." The ship began to lower, mostly so the wing flaps could get some room to rise to level, and the ship left the noodle shop. The pixie captain would be left to her troubles, and so would the girl.

And yet, Penn felt a bit guilty leaving her behind. However, this guilt was quickly shrugged away at the thought of delicious churros.

(As Denwale)

"And as I jsut said, I'm making the vow. NO ONE is to talk about this at the meeting." He stared at the pixie and then gave a rather cold look towards everyone in the room. "I have a feeling Hastings will expect a meeting anyway. This town likes to talk." He looked at Mr Fong. "Really likes to talk. Listen Miss Fairy." He frown in thought and then spoke up again. "What are you planning to do? I mean...what are you going to try to do? You need the answers...we want them...tell us...how are you going to figure this out? Many people are relying on you, Miss." He looked at with her with sad eyes but greatly concern.

"Um..." Petite pipped up once more, thoroughly aware that their argument had caused her to go unheard. Surely this Hastings man wasn't so terrible. She kept her smile and approached closer to the group, waving a hand above her head, "'Scuse me?" Her voice was a bit louder this time, "I said...I think I can help."

(as Meushi to Petite)

Meushi looked up at the girl and gave her a cheeky grin. "Welcome to the small party." She looked back at the town folks and the pixie. There was to much anger going on and it was annoying her. She looked back at the girl. "You want them to hear you? Here I'll help." Meushi stood up again on the seat and then on the table. She cleared her throat and then put her hands together as if she was about to pray. "Ahumm..." She took a deep breath and began to sing. "OH I AIn't no HOWLEr back gIRL, YEAH I AIn't no howler bACK GIRL!!" The singing was so off keep, so bad, so loud and so...unearthly that it clearly had to be one of the most worst singing in the whole world of Gaia.

(As Denwale)
He was just about to speak again when the most god awful sound hit his ears. He double over'd from the pain and quickly covered his ears. "DEAR GOD THE PICKLE THING IS SINGING! STOP STOP STOP!!!!"

Again Aylin sighed. She had no clue just how she was going to go about her investigation. All she was told in her letter was that she had to go to Porta Denia, blend in with the locals, and find out what they knew. The girl trying to get their attention and the Zurg singing were not helping things. Neither was the stress headache that was forming on her forehead right between her eyes.

Aylin sat back down in her chair frustrated, tired, and about ready to cry. It was a mistake coming to the diner. And it was even more of a mistake leaving Durem. She was not ready for this. The last time Aylin did work like this for the military she had Orrin by her side. He was her rock so to speak. He was the one that kept her in check and focused. He was the one that wouldn't let her mess up this badly.

Oh gods Orrin, why did she have to think about him at a time like that? The mere thought of him brought tears to her eyes. He would have been eighty-three and still looked as hot and sexy as the day they admitted how they truly felt for each other. Crying softly, out of grief and frustration Aylin looked over at the drunk, the diner owner, the waitress, the girl, and the Zurg and spoke.

"I don't know anymore. Not a day here and already I've failed. I blew my cover. I screwed up any chance I had of really finding out what was going on with this town. I can't do this on my own. I just can't. Not without him. There's no way I can do it without him. When I need him the most he's gone." Aylin said as the tears began flowing down in great heaving sobs.

"Don't fret. I said I could help, and I can!" Petite continued to smile, offered a comforting hand to the pixie girl. Strange group, these people, "Listen, all I need to know is where this...Hastings guy is...and where the ships have been disappearing." She made a little hop in excitement, "One way or another, you'll have your answer!"

Of course, it would cost her her ship, but Petite felt that leaving that information out was more beneficial, "I would need a few supplies, but nothing major."

(as Meushi)

She stopped singing and couldn't help but grin a little. She caused the pixie to cry. That is until she realized she wasn't crying about her singing. She frown then and jumped off the table. Walking towards the pixie she shook the woman. "SHUT UP!"

(as Denwale)

He wasn't quite sure what was worst, the singing or the pixie crying however he wasn't expecting the zurg to yell at the pixie. He was about to take a stand when the zurg spoke.

(As Meushi)

She looked at the pixie and then nodded. "Look Miss, you're crying isn't going to help your problem. IN fact...it only causes more." She gave her a grin. "If your that upset by all this, remember this. Even if you hadn't appeared another ship would have dissappeared and a town meeting would have happened anyway. You're not the cause if that's what your freaking out about. Besides, you're surrounded by some pretty grounded people here....despite that drunk." She laughed at that but then turned to look at the girl who wanted to be heard. "OK...just HOW do you plan to get our answers, hmmm? You gonna talk to Hastings and freak out Miss Pixie here more?" SHe folded her arms and raised an alien brow.

How could they know? How could any of them know? How could they know what the last eight years of Aylin's life was like? None of them knew what it was like to watch the person you love with all your heart and soul slowly slip away right before your eyes. The hand on her shoulder from the girl was one thing but the Zurg yelling at her just made things worse. It had been eight years since Aylin last cried over the death of her husband and now the pain over his loss had come rushing back. Aylin was about to speak when the most unlikely of people spoke up first.

It came from the man who appeared to want Hastings' head on a silver platter, "Enough! Can't you see this is a woman who has had a great loss in her life. She is a woman in grieving and all you can seem to do is yell at her."

Aylin turned her gaze to focus on the man with the pencil thin mustache. He had a stern look on his face that spoke of understanding. She knew he too had faced the loss of a spouse. It was written upon his face. The waitress turned to look at the man and then turned to face the Zurg adding in her own voice on the situation.

"Father's right Meushi. It was a long time before he felt right after mother died. I know you and Denwale want answers but I don't think she has them nor do I think the military does either. I think she came here trying to find out what we know," The waitress added.

Aylin sighed and reached for one of the paper napkins in the napkin holder at the edge of the table. Wiping her eyes the pixie had become a completely different person. With eyes red and puffy from crying Aylin spoke softly and quietly to the small group standing before her.

"I don't think that. I don't think any of that. That's not what this is about at all. The waitress is right. I don't have the answers and neither does the military. We don't know if Hastings even knows anything. We don't know if he's behind any of this. We just don't know. They just thought people in this town might know more about what's happening because they live here all the time. And, her father is right too," Aylin began as she fought back the urge to cry even more, "Do you know what it's like to watch someone die a slow painful death for ten years Meushi? That is your name, right? Even after eight years the mere thought of his memory brings back a lot of pain. We were a team. Two halves of a whole. He was always there to push me in the right direction when I began to doubt myself and my abilities. Do you know that for the first ten years we were married we spent more time here in Porta Denia than where we were born. This became our second home for an entire decade fifty-eight years ago," She sighed softly before continuing, "Look at me I'm rambling on like some old human who's been around as long as I have."

Petite was, to say the least, confused at all the commotion. It wasn't like she herself hadn't ever seen death. At any rate, the pixie girl's personal issues were irrelevant and could be solved after she discovered who was behind the disappearing ships, "Look, I don't mean to upset you all more, but I honestly don't care about this Hastings guy. I was just offering to speak to him as an unbiased ambassador. In the grand scheme of things, it would be a whole lot easier just to jump right into the heart of the matter." She crossed her arms over her chest, "All I know is that I can very easily identify the 'culprit,' but I need a map with the area where the ships have been disappearing first." She continued to smile, apparently missing the entire point of the drama, "I can at least get you a face, then the military or whatever can take over from there and I can be on my merry way!"

'Without a ship, but on my way none the less,' Petite thought, quickly scurrying back to her things, "I'm gonna be heading out, approval or not, so I'll just be over here while you guys figure out what it is you want to do." Petite's smile never wavered.

(as Meushi)

Meushi seemed losted. Why was everyone talking about dead people from their past? Wasn't the pixie crying about the fact that her plans weren't going her way? She made a face, clearly confused. However before she could reply, the young woman spoke. She looked at the other and decided to ask. "Look, I'm a bit to simple, so explain yourself better. Just HOW do you plan to do all that if you don't mind me asking?" She wasn't being rude, just to the point. After all, there were alot of questions that just weren't being answered yet.

(as Denwale)

He stayed quiet as he listen to the others talk of a loved one lost. Images of his mother came to his head right away but he wasn't as upset as he thought he would be. He'd blamed it on the drink that was in him. The thought of Lin disappearing from his life however caused him to step closer to her. He watched her as she listen closely to the on goings around them. He found himself lost in her dark eyes. If he could drown in them, he would gladly let himself drift away. He blinked and then swallowed hard as he turn his attention to the young lady from the tavern speak. "The pickle is right, little lady. What do you have in mind?"

"Well...it's a bit complicated, but, basically, it's like one of those box-traps, only instead of a piece of cheese or food or something, it's a ship, and instead of trapping him in the box to take home, we're just taking a looksie at 'em." She wondered if that was an accurate comparison, but continued on anyway, "We get this guy to try and steal my ship, I see who it is and escape before he can gather up me, as well!" Petite tried to lay it out with hand gestures as she explained, "And then I'll make my merry way back here and let you guys know how it went down, sketch out a picture of the culprit, and voila! Military intervention, or whatever, and everyone gets rescued, I get my ship back, and we can all continue on with out lives!"

(as Meushi)

Meushi listen to the plan and then stared at the woman when she finished. "You're insane....I LIKE YA!!' She gave a large alien grin. She moved over towards her and smacked her on the back in good nature. "Now that's a plan I can sink my teeth into!"

Lin sighed softly. It wasn't her place to say whether or not something should be done. She was just a simple waitress and hostess working in her father's diner. All she knew was that no one came back from the route Hastings asked them to take. It wasn't a bad plan just one she wasn't certain would work out the way the girl spelled it out. She turned to Meushi as she felt Denwale get closer to her.

"I may be talking out of turn here but how can she be sure she'll even come back Meushi? I don't think she understands that no one has come back from where they go missing. They disappear and that's it they're gone from what I understand of reading the paper," Lin remarked expressing her concern and slight confusion.

To say Aylin was happy about the plan would be far from the truth. To say she thought it was crazy was also further from the truth. Aylin simply didn't think it would work out the way the girl said it would. She was glad when the waitress spoke up. She was glad someone questioned the plan, even if it was said out of confusion and concern more than anything.

Aylin placed her head in her hands and ran them through her hair as she shook her head slightly. It wasn't over what was said but rather over how she was acting. Aylin was good at what she did because she was good at taking directions. She never once saw the need to take the initiative and be the leader. That was the job of her superiors, her brother, and for the longest time Orrin. At least, that was how things had been going up until that moment. I'm going to have to suck it up and step up here, Aylin silently told herself.

"I agree with the waitress. Not because it might be a bad plan or a good plan. I agree because she sounds so sure she'll walk away from whatever is out there. What makes her qualifications better than those of the last five crews to go missing and never return? Color me confused but are you sure you want to run the chance that you might never come back," Aylin added in the slight hopes the girl would think twice about that possible outcome.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 24, 2010 7:22 pm

Petite sighed, "It's not a matter of how sure I am about returning. I'm expendable. Sending one of the residents of this port is just stupid, and I doubt any other visitors would be willing to go." Her smile disappeared briefly, "I'm not saying I don't think I'll come back. I'm fairly certain I will, but if I don't, it's better a single person disappear instead of a valuable, well known crew. I don't exactly have a family or responsibilities to return to. I've got little to lose." She shrugged.

'Except for Theo, but he'd approve of this.' Petite thought. Her smile returned. Besides, if she couldn't return, that meant there was something more going on and she wanted to find out what. How likely was it that she'd run into another interdimensional being? Not high, "Not to mention, if I don't come back then you're no worse off than you are now."

Expendable? No one was expendable as far as Aylin was concerned. That was something the Air Clan military drilled into her from day one. Every member of their troop was important and no one should be left behind or intentionally put into harm's way. Aylin was not about to let anyone, no matter what their reasons, intentionally sacrifice themselves. That, in Aylin's mind, was always the last resort when all else had been explored. If Aylin was going to prove to herself that she was more than just a follower and more than just a perfect little soldier doing what she was told this was the opportunity to do so.

"No, no you're not. You are not expendable. Nobody is expendable. Everyone is important in their own right and everyone has their own role to add to the overall picture. Your plan is not bad nor is it good. It just shouldn't be the first plan or the only plan. We need to explore our other options first. Going to the Run should be the last resort," Aylin responded sounding more confident and sure of herself.
