yeah....I'm first trombone in all the bands I'm in and, since I've had 3 band directors in the past 3 years, every one of them has "worshipped" me.
I mean, I always feel like I could improve or that I'm not good enough, so it's nice to get that reassuring boost when Mr. B. says I did a good job.
I'm good without having had private lessons, which I think is why my teachers like me. And I'm a girl trombonist. Which is pretty darn cool. xp

I'm section leader and everyone says I'm the best but I know that in our little world I might be but I'm sure not in the big picture. I know I do have the best set of lungs out of all the people I've ever played with. I'm the only one who can play our lowest note and hold it for more than a few seconds.

I am Im first chair and my band director is always tellin me how proud he is of me and everything else. and when he talks about a person who plays our music perfect he always uses me as the example sometimes its kind of stressful because u know u have to participate in every band function and u have to b the best because thets what ur bd expects of u. But i guess its all worth it

I'm in 8th grade. played clarinet for 4 years. Even thought my bd doesnt tell us who's 1st chair. he told me that I did good and play best. He complemented me more than anyone in the 1st row. well since my band only has 25 people. and the front row has 2 clarinets a oboe and 5 flutes.

Well, I play flute, and my BD can sometimes favors his own section: trombones. One of our trombones made it into All-State, and he favors him, although all of the woodwinds think I'm better than the All-Stater...

I'm pretty good... at least people think so. I don't think so, but they're convinced I'm really good because I can sight-read and play harder songs.

I know how you feel. That used to be me until a month later. Three other kids joined the group, but the instructor still put me as first chair.

Sadly, yes, I am the best in my flute section.......But thats not saying much because our band is pathetic........**whistful sigh** if only we had more than 1 tenor sax, 2 alto sax, 2 flutes, 1 clairnet, and 7 trumpets who refuse to switch instermunts.... stare

I think it's safe to say yes. However, I've never heard any of the Freshmen or Sophomore bass clarinets play, though I think three years of honors band and two of those being first char with a girl in band two years longer than me below me pretty much secures it.
But considering I'm not a trumpet, I can't claim to be the best at anything twisted

its_kitty_time xd Yeah, but then again, I don't have much competition! I play oboe, and there's only one other person in my section sweatdrop we have chair auditions in a few days (or something like that; I'm going into 8th and school started today). But I'm so much better than him. And that's saying something! when we first started out, he kicked my a**. Now i kick his. EDIT: The other kid quit. Now I'm the only oboe in the band sweatdrop And since there's only one of me, the BD keeps forgetting to have me play something (like when he asks the other sections to play something, one sec. at a time). We have a bassoon, but at least she has a large insturment, so BD actually remembers her. But no, I look too much like a clairnet xd Well my abdn diferctor forgot to mention me one itme during a concert.. the song featured me, and the band director told everyone that it featured the tubas and bari sax.... but I play the bass clarinet.. it took about 89 kids to remind her of me...

..::Yeah... pretty much considering the fact I'm the only Tenor Sax in the school (with the exclusion of the beginners) and I'm the only Sax player in my grade D: which is a terrible shame when you come to think about it considering the fact that we have a really good band program at our school::..

Hmmm, I'm the first chair flute/piccolo, so I guess I must be good. But I'm in the middle-level band, so I know I could improve alot. But, I'm proud of my spot, considering I was 2nd chair as a freshman, infront of two juniors and a sophmore. Just need to start private lessons again, so I don't loose my spot.
