S'ril watched the excited green choose Hers, and leaned on his hand, which he propped up with his elbow on his knee. Aceth looked a** though she had relaxed, except that her head was up and her head constantly moving, swaying as she looked over the events.

Amishan running in caught S'ril attention, which then directed Aceth's as well. He is late! How silly!

"I'm sure he had reason enough," he replied quietly, glancing down to her as he spoke. She crooned in response and brought her attention back to the remaining eggs on the sands - two of which began making quite a racket as they shook together, hitting each other frequently.

Oh, oh! They're almost ready!

The brown nosed his way through the group of boys gently, like the first brown. He was much lighter than his brother, but Fellendar could not find himself attached to it. There was no instant bond, no voice in his head and the brown moved on to find His. The hatching was very quiet, and as much as the former Harper loved a little excitement in his life, he couldn't help but enjoy the peace.

Or, maybe he spoke too soon. The spotted green was pacing back and forth, practically running laps around the females before dodging underneath one girl in particular. A close call, perhaps, but still no harm to anyone. Fellendar smiled and rocked on his heels, glancing around for his friend. Hopefully, his candidate hadn't lost her wits completely. At least her first Hatching wasn't a particularly traumatic one...

Lauretia watched as the green did another lap around the girls, seemingly called to her brother, and then came back at the group. Apparently she had finally made up her mind on who to impress...finally. Lala went to step to the side so that the dragonet could get past her, only to suddenly have the creature between her legs.

'Lala! You do not know how to play well. But don't worry! Your Perditith will teach you all she knows!'

The sudden voice in her head made the young woman reel. Having the dragonet squirming about under her certainly wasn't helping her balance either. The sudden press of another mind on hers, bonded to her own took the woman's breath away, and all she could manage to say was "W-What?"

The dragonet laughed mentally 'Playing, mine, playing!' she said, cocking her head around so she could look at hers. An akward move considering their positions The dragonet laughed mentally ' You're no good at it, I can tell! That's ok, though, I'll teach you! For now though...that meat smells DELICIOUS! Lets go get some!' she said, hurrying towards the table, her rider still awkwardly standing over her.

"Waitwaitwaitwaitwait!" Lala said, having to tiptoe across the sands in a strange fashion to keep from falling over entirely. Her green was fairly large for her color, and had wedged her body quite firmly between her riders legs. "Let me off!"

'What are you still doing back there mine?' Perditith asked, puzzled The dragonet laughed mentally 'Oh! Is it a new game?!'

"No, no! Just let me off!" Lala said as Perditith went to move again.

'Oh alright then. Can we play later?' she asked with a piteous look.

Lala sighed in relief as her green stopped moving and allowed her to shift her long legs so that she was no longer stuck on the back of her dragonet. Straightening herself out, she walked with her new lifemate over to the tables where the buckets of meat waited for them, looking at Perditith as they went. It all seemed so surreal...She had impressed. Of all the eager young people out there on the sands, this lively creature had chosen her.

'Of course I did, Lala! We will have great fun, playing games and learning and flying and and and-'

Lala grabbed a handful of meat and inserted it into her dragons mouth, her jaw popped open in a draconic smile, hoping to quiet her enthusiasm a bit. Luckily, the meat quieted even the green's mental voice as she focused on chewing the moutful, allowing Lala to take a moment to take a breath of relief. Still...Lala smiled down at the green as she continued feeding her, keeping her mouth busy, she was an adorable creature, lively, interesting...yes, this would be interesting indeed. Just wait until her family heard!

Finally, a well-placed rock from the Multiberries Egg causes both eggs to crack solidly down one side. The dragonets inside kicked and wiggled until the pair of blues fully emerged from their shells. A dark pair, one mottled and one with lighter spots, took a moment to shake themselves, removing any of the remaining egg shells from their hide. It was only when the mottled blue looked up and squeaked excitedly did they seem to realize that the other had hatched.

They then proceeded to behave like a pair of joyous puppies.

Both blues bellowed loudly, eyes whirling brightly as they charged straight for each other, bonking heads in the process. Luci snorted softly and rolled her eyes at their antics, barely able to conceal a grin. That seemed to be enough to get the crowd started, chuckling as the blues rolled and played, bumping into each other several more times as they made their way almost unknowingly towards the candidates.

Finally, the pair seemed to realize their hunger and with great effort they broke apart and trotted side by side through the female candidates towards a pair of girls hanging out near the back. Best friends for best friends, by the looks of it, as the mottled blue proceeded to all but tackle his rider to the ground and lick her face. Two blues down, two eggs to go.

The chuckles suddenly stopped when Dorath's hums intensified, signaling that the gold egg was beginning to move. Slowly, rocking gently back and forth, the Silence is Golden Egg was beginning to stir. High Reach's second queen was about to hatch.

The Queen Egg. It was time for the Queen Egg to hatch, for High Reaches to have another Gold enter onto the sands. Would she be haughty, like the gold from the clutch that now resided at Ghenza? Millet remembered that Gold, she had Impressed from the stands and startled everyone. She had been so proud and so beautiful all at the same time, everyone unable to take their eyes from her. That memory had stayed with the girl and resurfaced now more vivid than ever as she watched the shaking Golden egg.

May you find yours, and prosper! This whole Weyr is waiting for you, be proud and come forth!

The Weyrbrat didn't want to admit that she was holding her breath ever so slightly, but she was. Whomever this gold looked towards would bring wonders to their Weyr and she hoped she knew them - that way she could cheer them on more!

Blast.

Only one more now that could look to Veyes. Maybe today wouldn't be the lad's day. Another day. He had time. Dorath would no doubt clutch again next turn, and it wouldn't be long before Sharath began to rise as well. There was time. He had chances... but it was hard not to hope for today, for it to happen right now. Patience never had been his greatest strenght.

Well, nothing to be done but watch. Nibbling his lower lip slightly, L'thor turned his eyes onto the hatching queen. At least there was no personal suspense for him over this one.

S'ril leaned back against the table, taking a sharp intake of breath as he did so. The Queen egg. As it started movie, he noticed Aceth's head rise slightly, watching it carefully, her eyes whirling. Everyone looked to the Queen eggs like this - even dragons. So much was expected of them even before they entered the sands!

Do not worry. She is our clutchmate, and she will be very good. The voice was more subdued now, and S'ril rubbed her head affectionately. She didn't seem to notice this time, her attention focused on the shaking eggs, and soon he forgot the motion of his hand as he watched as well.

Well! There certainly were a lot of women Impressing this Hatching! Not that Fellendar had anything against female riders (especially the greenriders, because one day he'd had a male dragon all his own and you know exactly who would be chasing those green little tails now, don't you?), but it just struck him as a lot. But if they were best for the dragon, the black-haired youth decided there was no arguing with that. The hatchlings knew exactly who was best for them. The Harper smiled a little. A pair of blues Impressed to a pair of women. It made sense, he supposed. And, oh? Listen to Dorath now.

The Harper glanced over. Ahh, the golden egg was beginning to stir. Well, he could relax for a moment. That egg definitely wasn't his.

So many, and all in a blur! The green who'd finally settled at a girl's feet; the next green who'd Impressed scarcely moments after straightening out of the egg; the stoic brown and the playful green who'd reminded her of Caryo, whom Maisalyn'd managed to just barely step out of the way off as she cavorted through the female Candidates; the charmingly playful blue pair who'd chosen a pair of Candidates.

Only two left, and--yes, Dorath and the others were humming even louder now, the gold egg was to hatch forthwith! Another queen for the weyr; after growing up hearing all around her practically obsessed with so-called "Dorath's Curse"--well, that had been broken some time back, but Maisalyn had to admit a second queen would do much to restore any maligned reputation the senior queen had not deserved to have in the first place. Relief; that's what it was.

She flashed a smile at the other candidates, most she didn't recognize but a few she did; Milly and Jessalie and Weyard among them. She rather hoped for a Weyrbred goldrider, even if she knew the tradition was usually the reverse.

A'jel was watching the whole thing with mild amusement. Vogieth, on the other hand, was a whole lot more excited. But finally it looked as if it were time for the new queen to catch, and even the elated brown calmed somewhat, and watched respectfully.
Everyone was eager to see the new queen. Even A'jel, though he'd not admit it.

Lala's hand paused mid-gesture on its way to Perditith's mouth as Dorath suddenly started humming louder than before, and her gray eyes were drawn back to the sands. Her green also looked around, her jaw popping in her version of a smile again when she too realized what was happening.

'Fiiiinally!' the green crooned happily, shuffling her wings excitedly along her back in excitement
'Feed me mine!' she said, turning her whirling blue gaze back to hers 'I want to be done when she arrives!'

Lala fed her green as quickly as was safe, making sure she didn't choke. She had to admit, she was curious about who this queen would impress too also. What would she be like? She had heard that queens could be rather imperious. Would this one boss the others around? would she be kind? lala hadn't been there for the touching, so she had no idea what to expect.

Veyes watched the two blues go by with a sigh knowing they were heading towards the girls. Well that was almost a wrap...There was a queen egg but that wasn't his. Although he had to laugh just a little thinking that it would be funny if the gold didn't want a girl. His stories had one such dragon. But stories has been far more promising than real life as far as hatchings went.

Andere had remained quiet for the majority of the Impression. She hadn't been at the Weyr long at all, Searched from Tillek only days before the Hatching itself. The seacrafter hadn't been very certain about coming up to High Reaches, she was already so close to aging out of Impression, but. What was life if not some great opportunity. She was already the finest navigator on the Horizon (in her not so humble opinion, as it were), so it wasn't as though she was losing anything. The ship belonged to her father, after all; she wasn't about to lose her place on it. Axin had promised, in fact. (Even though her father did love her best, Andere knew this for fact.)

The dragons came, and the dragons went. It would be a lie to say Andere wasn't a little nervous, having never dealt with much in the way of large animals before. Her family didn't even fish; they were traders, shipping things hither and fro. It didn't matter much to her, as long as she was on the sea with the breeze in her face and hard work to be done. At least the Weyr had put her to work, Andere reflected. If she had been left to sit, she might have considered missing her home, or rather, the ship. The redhead brushed bangs away from her face and smiled. The Queen egg was Hatching, now. Would it make a rider out of her, the woman wondered? It looked like time to find out.

Naia stroked over Cusith's head, quietly feeding her meat. The humming got louder, and the green dragonet's head rose, observing with mild interest. The gold was starting to hatch?

Mine, crooned Salth in pleasure, the queen is hatching. Raising her head, licking the last of the blood from her muzzle, she began to sing quite sweetly, a happy, vociferous noise of pleasure and welcome for her clutchmate. Sing with me, Idenmine, welcome her! The hope and the urge, excitement whirling in her eyes, made Iden want to raise his voice too, and he let out a loud laugh. For such a reserved, ladylike creature, his Salth's excitement was like a shot of warmth pouring across his senses.

We're all looking forward to seeing you, miss, thought Iden to himself, rubbing softly along Salth's neck -- he had all he wanted right now, utterly satisfied and yet excited at the same moment. Perhaps for Millet?
