Crying, tearful and alone, the child looked everywhere. She opened her bedroom door and ran downstairs. ‘Mummy?’ she cried. ‘Where are you?’ She ran out the front door after realising her mother wasn’t home. She walked into the cold, blistering street where everything was empty, her feet crunched onto the cold snow, which left her shivering. With tears running down her cold frozen cheeks, she ran to the nearest place she could find. She went past the police station and nothing was there. It was then she realised everything was empty and everyone was gone.

Some think they would be happier with their memories absent, but he knew better, sometimes. He remembered everything before the accident. He always thought he was awakening in the hospital, and wondered why his wife wasn’t there for him. That is, until he read the notes his doctors left behind. “You have anterograde amnesia,” one read. “You’ve been here for three years,” said another. In reading, he realized what he’d lost, and the grief tore him open anew. Eventually, the notes disappeared and the sedatives started, and he remembered nothing at all. They decided it was more humane that way.

“Scritch scritch,” went the pencil against the paper. A river of tears. Choking sounds. The sun was setting. A warm glow radiated from the photograph on the wall. Sky blue eyes. Long auburn hair. The face of an angel returned to heaven.
“I miss you…I miss you…”
The sky fell. The warm glow disappeared, consumed in shadow. A crumpling sound. A ball flew through the air. A tower toppled. “Scritch scritch,” went a swarm of paper balls, rolling out from the corner like a plague of rats. They cried out in silence.
“I miss you.”

May I write for another round or am I disqualified? EDIT: It is only been about a day and a half since I posted that (not "way past tomorrow"), and if the round ended yesterday it wouldn't have mattered whether or not I posted my entry. EDIT (2): Also, where did you post a due date for these? I couldn't find one, hence I thought it would be ok if I entered it today or something. :O If I missed it, then it is totally my fault. xD
