There was a bang that shattered Taxus's very eardrums, deafening him as he gave a horrid squeal of pain, the bullet sinking through flesh and bursting his interns. He went tharn, sort of rolling to his side. He panted, looking over his shoulder at his rump. His leg....it wouldn't work.
He somehow felt he would die this way...he wished he could have been an owsla beforehand, but he was just a simple rabbit. He smirked and began to drag himself after the young one, not having the will to stand, the pain was so great.
"Faili..." he said. "Go...with your brother." he wheezed. He kept pulling himself along. "I'll...be along...soon."

Faili didn't need telling twice, and though it pained her to do so, she was determined to at least get her brother out've here, like she was certain he had done for him. She kept on nudging him, sometimes to hurry him along, others because she was still a little clumsy on her feet.

The farmer shielded his eyes as he saw the dog, trotting with a rabbit hanging from his jaws.
"Damned, that makes two! We'll eat damned well t'night!" He hurried towards the injured rabbit, ignoring all those near it. That would be enough, and maybe they wouldn't return for a long while.
"D'aw, bad shot eh? Shoulda nailed you 'igher, so you'd be dead." He seized the still living, yet severely injured Taxus by the ears, lifted him, and stomped back towards the house.

Foxtail tore across the garden, if anyone had been watching, they’d have only seen a blur of orange. He could hear the gunshots but did his best to block them from his mind, telling himself that he wasn’t running for his life he was in a race; a race to see who could get back to the warren the fastest. “Race. That’s all it is Foxtail, you’re in a race. Run like mad!”

Taxus was down.
This wasn't real. This was like one of those horrible stories about foolish rabbits that upset Frith.
"Faili... are we gonna die?"
He whispered softly, letting her nudge him along. He tried to press himself against her as he moved forward to help with her struggling paws. Together they pressed on into the grass; finally safe.

Bram felt every nerve jump at the sound of the second loud crack. He hadn't been hit, nor had Ginkgo, or Foxtail. His gaze quickly darted around to see if he could spot the others. The smell of blood was thick on the air. The adrenaline was crashing about in his veins making his ears pound with each beat of his heart.
The familiar flashes of fur stung at his heart. "Oh no..." He shook himself and steadied himself as he ran.
"Just get to the Down!!" He barked to those who could hear. He briefly paused and watched as the man turned towards the man-den with two bucks in hand. His eyes flitted towards the dog, the barn, and back towards the Down.

Taxus panted as he saw the man approach. He narrowed his red eyes but could do little as his ears were siezed and he was lifted, blood spattering the ground. He swung, his eyes heavy, as he looked at his beloved down, not too far away. He had no regrets...if only he had been a little faster.
He trembled as the down grew farther and farther. His vision grew blurry. It may have been by Frith's will that he lost consciousness as the door banged shut, blocking his view of his home.

"Us? Die. Don't be silly. We're the kittens of the two greatest owsla in the world. It'd take much more than one raid to kill us off." She boasted weakly, though she knew it was only a bluff to encourage him. "We'll get better with experience. . . I won't be getting in a snare again, that's for sure." She wheezed a little as she tried to weakly laugh, daring not to look back to see what had happened to Taxus. She knew deep down he wouldn't be coming back, like Bluflax. And even her had brushed against the blackrabbit to day. It was a miricle any of them were alive, and she'd certainly learn from the ordeal.
"Let's just get back to our Marli, huh?" She finished, greatful to be on the lush green grass and heading for the safety of the downs.

"KEEP RUNNING!" Ginkgo hollered as he tried to spur the group on. He had felt the wind, but not the bite of the bullet. Taxus had taken it, what a pity... But at least it hadn't been him. Even the hardened Ginkgo offered a silent prayer as he and his companions fled back towards the Down.
