I'm terrified of my book's spines getting cracked, so I hold my books open just a tiny tiny bit, so I can hardly see the words. Maybe this is a sign that I should buy more hardcover books? Hardcover book's spines don't crack unless you try really, really hard. And they last longer, too. They're sturdy. I wouldn't have to worry about them so much! But they're more expensive... and more expensive books means I can buy less books... and not all books are out in hardcover... oh, woe is me.

Once I am done with a book, I place it right next to me on my bed, cause I read on my bed. I always promise myself to find a home for the book eventually, but it never happens. So every month or so I have a huge pile of books next to me that threatens to crush me in the middle of the night. XD I have like... a monthly purge ceremony where I take out at least a dozen books from my room to the book case outside. I have hell finding anything in that book case these days because of this...
Thankfuly more recently I have acquired a bookshelf, so now rather than them being set on the side of my bed, they go to a happy home on a bookshelf! And since it's such a new bookshelf, it's all organized and pretty... I only hope that lasts.

Whenever I want to stop reading, I just stop, even if I am in the middle of a sentence. So then I have to remember what page I stopped at since I hardly use bookmarks, and remember what word I stopped at. xd

Generally I'm good when it comes to using a book mark, but sometimes I will flip it over. D: And uaually I end up losing the jackets because personally, I find them annoying.
I also read in the dark, and in the rain. >///<

I have some pretty vicious habits when it comes to books.
I tape down the corners of paperback covers (so they don't fray). I buy books in bulk. I've gone to a store looking for 1 or 2 and walk out with 10. I organize them by size, genre, and read status. If it's a library book, I'll leave it on the floor next to my bed. I read while playing Wonderland Online, an MMORPG, with auto on. If someone asks to borrow a book, they have to be trust worthy enough (I only let one friend borrow books, I won't even give my brother permission, doesn't stop him though).

Yeah, I've one or two read habits my family (specially my mother) find so much annoying.
Their most annoying (and the one I get more yelled for) is that when I'm reading it's like I'm in another world, no voice nor sound can reach me. They have to -literally- took the book out of my hands if they want me to pay attention and since I like to read the newspaper while I'm eating (you know, family time?) they get really angry when I don't pass the salt, umm.. maybe it is a little frustrating?
There's this habit I really hate, seem like I'm some sort of compulsive reader and I can't find myself just reading one book at a time. I take one that seems fine and read some chapters, leave it and take the other I though it would be interesting too, leave it after few chapters and start reading this one a relative with good taste recommended. And it is like that always when I'm reading and I hate it 'cause it takes me more to finish them and if it takes me more to finish them I may forgot I'm reading them. It has happened, starting a new book and going like hey this sounds familiar..., yes it definitely sounds familiar..., oh crap, a forgotten book. It is sad forgetting a book you were reading and it's scary too makes me think if the alzheimer isn't hitting on my door.
I like bookmarks 'cause I make them to my liking and they take me directly to the place I stopped reading. No time wasted flipping pages and it is less damage to the book.
I freak out whenever I see someone damaging a book, you know, like if they wanted to part the book in two when opening it. Or when someone incautious takes my textbooks and highlight it (that's a dead man, by the way) oh how I hate it.
I like having books around me, so the floor next to my bed, the little table where the lamp is and my sister's doll house (which is right to my bed) are cramped. I share the room with my little sister (who thinks the best joke is her reading) so she always gets mad when the amount of books is that much she can't walk freely between the two beds.
I'm also a compulsive book buyer. I buy and buy and buy and have to stop when I see I bought so much I couldn't finish them anytime soon. And my mom's like me in that aspect so the amount of books is always growing.
...I take a book with me to the bathroom, just in case I say when my brother look at me weirdly. ¬///¬ what!? Some business can take ages you know?
So yeah, pretty weird habits I'd say.

One of my worst book habits is reading in the tub. >< Even though I'm paranoid about dropping the book in the water, I continue to do it anyways.
Another bad habit is forgetting that the library book is a library book and tucking it away into my own collection. I've gotten better as of lately, but I still have a hefty late fee to pay off. sweatdrop

I used to dog-ear each page I was about to turn - not leave them folded, just bend them back and forth till the corners wore out. Also when I go to used book stores, I want to buy all the extremely old copies of classics.

It's hard to say since I usually never notice any of my bad habits. I think one bad habit that I know for sure is that I leave my books strewn about. Since I haven't had anymore space on my shelves to store them until now, I would leave my books laying on the floor, or strewn about my dresser, or in big plastic containers.

...birds creep over tin roofs, like criminals with tap shoes... I Hear ThunderI start reading lots and lots of books, right now i have about 14 books going... .__.
What im bad at is finishing them :b I get so stressed with all the books, and then i get mad at myself, and after that i anger-read a bit, and usually finish a few, and then start picking up new ones XD

But Theres No Rain ...stain the glass with windows, extortionate and cold stare...

My bad book habits are that i wont let someone i barely knwo borrow a book, because im scared they shall loose my book or hurt its spine. XD Im a freak when it comes to the spine....I once didnt talk to my best friend for awhile, because she had tooken my brand new book to read, and had bent the front part of the book back, Now the spine is crooked!! lol My other one is when i go to bed and cant fall sleep. My dad says no lights...so i take out my nintendo DS! I prop it up on my chest and read my book with that....lol my eye doctor said thats the reson why i need to wear glasses! XD I hope i dont have the worst problems here! XD

sparklingbutterfly Do you have any bad book habits? I tend to keep the book open and flip it over instead of putting a bookmark in, and read in the dark which my mom always yells at me for. What about you? I flip mine over as well.
