"Just stir them a little fae me, love, then get th' dishes down from the cupboard there an' set th' table. There's some juice in th' mini-fridge if'n you want tha'," Rory said, pointing at the cupboard he kept his dishware in.

Lee did as instructed; stirring was something she could actually do with little effort, and she still managed to be helpful. Once finished, she reached into the cupboards and pulled out two plates, setting them on the table and heading back for cups and silverware, doing the same with those. One thing she did know how to do was set the table properly, simply from staring down at the placement since she was little. While there were considerably fewer utensils for this meal, she still managed to set everything they had where it should be. Pulling out the juice from the fridge, she poured a glass for herself before looking back at Rory. "You want juice, too, right?"

Rory considered this a moment, then looked at her. "There's beer in there. Can you get me a bottle, eh? Should've asked if you'd want 'un, too." He moved the steaks to a plate and set his bread pudding on low to bake in the pot while they ate. Bringing the plate with steaks over to the table, he used a large fork to put one down on Lee's plate. "Hae you had venison afore? I like it a bit better'n beef, really." He put the other steak on his own plate and took the plate he'd brought them over on to the wash basin before coming back to sit at the table.

Lee blinked a few times before cocking her head at him. B-beer? It took her a few seconds to remember that she was living in Farstep. Shaking her head, she headed for the fridge once more, replacing the juice and grabbing a beer for Rory. "I'll stick with juice..." Setting it on the table, she straightened her dress a bit before sitting down. Wait, so what they were eating wasn't beef? "Eh... I guess I haven't... What is... venison?" She wasn't sure she wanted to know.

"Deer meat," Rory answered simply, cutting his steak into bite-sized bits before spooning a good helping of both mashed sweet potatoes and green beans onto his plate. He took a sip of beer, watching her. Now he was nervous she wouldn't like it.

"..." Looking down at her plate, she bit her lip, slowly building up the courage to actually eat it. "O-oh..." Taking a deep breath, she lifted her knife and fork and slowly carved a piece off. Looking up at Rory and then back down at her plate, she hesitantly lifted the fork and bit the meat off, chewing slowly until she realized that it wasn't bad. In fact, it was good. Very good. Smiling up at him, she finished her bite and started to cut out another. "Where'd you learn to cook so good?"

Lee's expression dropped, thinking to herself that she was more than a little pathetic. "Y-yeah..." She bit off another piece of steak, this time not enjoying it as much as she had before when she was worrying over whether or not she'd be able to provide for herself eventually.

Rory caught her expression and frowned a bit. He'd insulted her. Wonderful. "Lee, darlin', if'n you donnae know how t' cook, I can teach you. It's not hard, love." Plus, it would give more excuses to spend time with the girl. On that note . . . "Or you can always come o'er t' eat wi' me."

Lee's eyes were glued to her plate as she played a bit with her food. "Y-you dun have to bother with that..." He had a job and went to school and surely had other things to do than to teach her to cook. At his other solution, however... "Y-you think I could help you make food everyday? Like... today?" She could just bring Lauss leftovers, right?

"Only if'n you promise t' learn a little cookin' while you help," Rory answered. "You should bring tha' lad o'er what lives wi' you t' feed him up some, too, till you learn t' cook on your own." He stretched out a foot, resting it idly against hers, unconsciously wanting some connection to her.

"Of course." Her voice was slightly cheerful again; it only just then occurred to her that she acted so weird around him. Cheerful and Lee weren't words often used together, but somehow it didn't bother her. As for bringing Lauss with her, "Eh, heh, I... I dunno if he'd wanna come. Just cause, ya know, he can cook and stuff, and he'd wanna be with Rhian." She didn't want Lauss talking too much with Rory, not yet. Not until she knew it would be okay for him to know Lauss wasn't just some servant.

"I donnae blame him a bit. She's a bonny lass an' he seems reet stupid fae her," Rory laughed. "You should ask him t' help you learn cookin'." He tapped his foot against hers idly, focusing a bit on eating.

Lee couldn't help but make a subtle face as Rory mentioned Rhian being "bonny". It didn't help that she hated her half the time, and that Rhian was, in Lee's eyes, perfect. "I guess I should..." Though learning with Lauss wouldn't be half as enjoyable as learning with Rory. She bit her lip as she felt his foot tap against hers, looking down and also focusing on eating, just to hide her blush.

Rory looked up at her. "It'll be dark soon, lass. Do you wanna stay till th' stars come out? It's like t' be a clear night t' see them."
