AlaLavei Meh. My school's pretty well divided into rock and rap. You either like one or the other and that's pretty much it, so people usually don't get on me about the style, and since we offer Japanese classes people are more open to it. Same with my school, they freak out when I blare my music in class or at the end of the day. ^0^ And I sit by two wiggers, so it makes me happy. . . No jap classes at the middle school, they even dropped Latin. crying AlaLavei - Lucky. My father thinks I'm insane for wanting to learn japanese. ><; ANd he shall forever think all of them are gay girls who dress like guys. . 'cept SHinya. He's stoopid! gonk

My mother seems to like them, afterall when I was at Sakura-Con she just talked on and on with some of the venders selling j-rock stuff... it was rather odd... She says she likes Dir en Grey, but then every now and then she'll be like "How can you listen to this stuff, all it is is screaming." This gets me very upset and angry at her. As for the whole look I'm not quite sure... I think she's sort of weirded out by how all the band members look like girls, and even believes a lot of them are. I don't think she likes the fact that they cross dress a lot, although she always comments that my DEG desktops have such cool looking people on them.
As for my dad... things don't go so well. He seems to hate all of my j-rock music because it's in Japanese. He believes if he can't understand it, that it's not worth listening to. Personally, I just don't intentionally show him any pictures of DEG and other band or tell him that all those nice looking girls he sees are actually guys. He'd probably freak out and then my mom would have to give me a lecture on how my dad's not particularly "fond" about homosexuals, etc... which is just turns into a srewed-up mess...
None of my friends have ever heard of them and the few that I let listen to them think that they're just okay, or that they don't really like them because they don't sing in English. For the most part, I think my friends just sort of tolerate my being into j-rock because they don't like how they all look like girls. Most of my aquaintances just think I'm really weird and therefore just don't talk about music with me, although it's not like any of my friends do any way. Truthfully I don't think I have any friends who are into the same genres of music as me, which is really sad.
The few happy things to note on, are that my mom will pay for my j-rock merch. When I went to Sakura-Con she bought me like four CDs and a DEG DVD which made me very happy. I also have found one person in my school that is a fan of DEG and amazingly enough it's a guy. Finding another person at my school that also likes DEG was quite surprising, since I was just somewhat expecting that I was pretty much the only person in my school to listen to the stuff...

My mum thinks I'm insane for going to another country to see Diru. My mum does listen to quite a few good bands aswell as the crap she grew up on, but she doesn't like Diru much.

My dad's heard some of the bands I like, Shiina, Miyavi and Gackt among Diru. It's become his favorite thing to call every single guy on my computer screen a woman, Kyo, Kaoru, Toshiya, Die and Shinya aren't a exception. >.<
He doesn't like their music, prefers his bluegrass and Nelson much more. But he doesn't come out and say something like my musical preferance sucks when I play Obscure. So he doesn't hate it, but he accepts it.
If I lived with my mom, she would come out and say a ton of nasty things. Be a b***h about why I listen to music in another language, why they dress feminine sometimes, why they scream and anything else she could find. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to buy any Diru things too, she'd set them on fire the first chance she gets.

DX I might go live with my aunt, and she'd hit the roof and think I've joined some foreign-based Satanic cult. She'd be too scared of me to do anything about it though.

My mother hates all of my J-Rock bands. She doesn't understand how I could listen to something that I can't understand the lyrics of. I made her listen to Ain't Afraid To Die, though. I think she liked it a little bit.
