Raife blinked as someone she didn't know addressed her, the proximity only making Mik more nervous. "What? Hm? He'll be fine." She hazarded a glance down at her boy and then looked up at a shout. Was that Levi? Her attention was obviously elsewhere. She waved as the boy greeted her incredulously, and chuckled at his confusion. "I was about to ask you." She murmured absently, hooking her arm through Levi's free one. Noting the little boy in Levi's arms -that looked nothing like him but she couldn't resist needling the lad, Raife smirked. "Breeding now, are you?"
Mik, however, was working his way up from confused to mildly perturbed. Exactly who was Levi carrying now? It certainly wasn't him. And while he would have likely shrugged it off under normal circumstances, just happy to see his friend, by damned he was cranky from the dark and the people and the strange things, and he wanted to go home, why were they even there to begin with? He wanted that strange baby with the surly eyes away from Levi.

If there was a fox at Levi's feet, it wasn't Lafe. The fox had pressed back against the wall until he was just past Mikhael and Raife. He was breathing fast and heavy, silver-blue eyes shut tightly.
It took him several moments, but he finally got himself back together and started to slip back towards the light. Lafe paused for a moment, sniffing at the air curiously, before his head tilted. Hm. That was -- was it the one with the wings? Slowly, cautiously and keeping himself crouched near the ground, Lafe moved forward until he could brush up against Mikhael again.
Of course, he was doing his best to keep to the shadows -- there was a strange person about! -- but mostly he was trying to see if this was the one he remembered. The scent was the same, at least.
Wren had turned about, looking to see if Levi had anything else to say before he realized the lad had darted off somewhere. Sighing, he set out to see if he could find him ( which wouldn't be too hard, he probably wasn't too far away, but Wren was still looking behind himself, not ahead ). He wasn't too keen on searching the place out at the moment and he merely eyed the tables and decorations warily. He'd learn his lesson about those sorts of things a long time ago.
After all, who would want to sit and celebrate in a catacomb? He wasn't that morbid -- Tom and Carmine were, though. Then again, he thought, they're the sort to bathe in the blood of virgins and ... do worse things. Eating a holiday meal in a catacomb would be small fries to them.

Mikhael jumped, his eyes blinking wide and owlishly and his mind flitting away from thoughts of babies and Levi. There it was again! His eyes darted around wildly, before keenly settling on the skittish fox. Being the only other fluffy thing in the area, it had to be the source of the confusion. Mikhael studied it quietly, trying not to let on he was watching. He had picture books...Raife had shown him pictures of wildlife, and he recognized the fox from that book. The slanted eyes, the elegant expression...except, in miniature, this one. Definitely not with the features of the fox in the book. Smaller, and fluffier. Mikhael felt instinctively tied to the fox. It was like a little animal version of himself. Small, and fluffy, and it seemed..just a little scared. He crouched down so that he could watch the fox better, his blue eyes sharp with curiosity.

Lafe was oblivious to the fact Mikhael was studying him until he caught the curious gaze and then it was obvious that he was curious himself. It was clearly there in his eyes, the tilt of his head, and the slow way his white tail twitched back and forth.
He sniffed again. The situation felt a bit similar. Like, the other was waiting for him to make the next move. Lafe made a small noise, uncertain and likely loud enough just for Mikhael to hear it.
This definitely had to be the one from before. The one that had given him the pretty feather. He just wasn't as ... scared as he had been then. It was hard to tell, when there were so many people around and too many feelings to pick out just one set.
Finally, though, he slipped forward. Nudging up against Mikhael's hand, he let out a soft bark. It was, though Mikhael probably wouldn't realize it, his way of saying hello to someone he knew.

Mikhael's tiny fingers wiggled lightly, uncertainly, before settling into a soft petting stroke over the top of Lafe's head. There was something familiar about the fox, and although Mikhael couldn't place what it was, or why it was, it was comforting in this swarm of unfamiliar and an absent minded Raife. The fox kit didn't scare him hardly at all. Indeed, he had no reason to be scared. He'd seen animals, just as scared as he had been, tucked in the cages at the lab. They'd been the closest he'd had to kin for those long months.
He giggled silently as the fox kit barked, trying to answer in kind. His "bark" came out as a soft woosh of air, which caused another round of giggles to eminate from the toddler. Fluffy things were soft. Safe. He leant down more so he was nose to nose with the fox, examining him with curious eyes and gentle baby fingers.
"Eh." A tiny noise of pleasure and question, Mikhael wanted to ask so many things, that even had he had a voice, he wouldn't have been able to articulate half of them. Why was this fox so familiar? Why was it here? Why did it seem to like him so much?
Then again, when it came to things he trusted, it didn't really matter.

... well, the petting was a plus. Lafe hadn't let anyone pet him in a while, at least not in this form, and it was something he had forgotten could be nice. Maybe he did remember him? Lafe's tail wagged back and forth quickly, a happy yip escaping at the giggles. He liked the fact Mikhael was giggling -- the toddler happy made him feel happy. As if there wasn't anything bothering him, at least when he could focus on this there wasn't.
Lafe was stretching out one moment and wriggling the next under the examining fingers. Particularly whenever they came close to his ears or his tail. Still, Lafe let Mikhael have a good look at him, while he was getting a look at the other. He looked a bit older, though not much from what his foggy memory provided.
His ears twitched at the question Mikhael couldn't quite phrase and Lafe let out an answering bark, though it was a question all the same. It wasn't like he could exactly answer, Mikhael wasn't an animal ... Scrunching up his nose briefly, he was pressing close against Mikhael afterwards. A second later Lafe gave a small lick to the other's cheek. As if trying to somehow appease whatever it was Mikhael wanted -- or say there would be answers later.
Something.
Or maybe he just did it because Lafe was nothing more than a fox kit and sometimes the human intellect did not play a part in his actions.

Hunkering down until he could lower himself down to sit, Mikhael plopped his butt down, and with the insistent -yet mostly harmless- hands of a toddler, ushered Lafe onto his lap, snuggling him close. What a lovely new friend! Petting down his fur smoothly, Mikhael offered to share some of his rather large coat, wrapping them both up lightly in it -he didn't like feeling trapped, and he thought his new friend probably wouldn't like it either- drawing his feet up inside as well. It was almost like a small pup tent. He continued to pet his new friend, burbling a bit, incoherently.
He sniffed a bit as he bundled the fox closer. That smell! Those eyes.
Something so familiar. If only Mikhael had the fox's sense of smell.

Easily giving in to the insistent hands, Lafe found himself in Mikhael's lap and quickly being snuggled. Well, he didn't mind one bit! For the moment, he wanted the attention. Lafe even snuggled back some, tail flicking back and forth until the jacket closed around them both.
... wasn't too bad. He could deal with this. It was safe compared to what was outside and he could ignore the sense that there was something to do here for the moment. What did that matter when you were warm and comfy? Lafe made small noises in response to Mikhael, as if he understood. Which, he didn't -- but what did that matter? It was nonsense in the long run, but it was the thought that counted.
He shifted and squirmed until he could properly curl up in Mikhael's lap and rest there. With something to focus on, Mikhael, it wasn't as hard to get lost with his empathy. He nudged his nose against the toddler as if cementing his scent to memory.

Mik beamed and burbled more, as if the fox actually did understand. He burbled about how nervous he was, and how there were people everywhere, and how...well, none of it made sense to anyone, so what did it matter? He pressed his cheek into Lafe's fur, comforted.
If anyone had been looking down at them on the floor, it might have just seemed like someone discarded a jacket on the floor in the middle of the walkway. Except for a little bit of black hair and fur, they were buried neatly inside, thanks to Mikhael's handiwork.

[Sorry for any errors in my posts or placements, it was HECTIC when I was trying to RP! <3]
Chuckling as Raife slid her arm through his, Levi grinned up at her through his fall of dark bangs, shaking his head merrily. "N'mine, nope. Yers!" He hefted Ink's weight to the side, sliding the babe neatly toward Raife. Hopefully, her maternal instincts would kick in and she'd accept the babe without thinking twice...that would leave Levi free to go hunt for Mik! He was still a bit blind, between the glow and darkness, and desperately wanted to explore the strange cavern ahead.
An adventure just wouldn't be an adventure without Mik! "Catch!"

Raife blinked as the babe slid neatly into her arms. "Wait, what? Levi, he's not mine, whose baby is he?" She juggled him until the baby sat neatly in her arms, her eyes darting around, looking for her own. She spotted him nestled into his coat on the floor, inky hair and...fur? Peeking out from underneath the hood. He wasn't crying, and she could hear little happy burbles, so she supposed he sounded okay. But in any case....
"Well, if you're going to leave this one with me...go get Mik." She nudged Levi towards the suspiciously baby-ish pile on the floor. "I don't think it's just him in there, so be careful." She was kind of curious to see what else was in there with him that seemed to have him so happily occupied.

"Dunno! Yer bebeh now, eh?"
Pulling his sleeveless jacket open wide, Levi hopped over to Mik, still chuckling. Now his arms were free! Where was the little colorful pet, though? The thought left him as he hunkered down over the tiny Mikpile, fluffing his tattered overcoat around the babe and whatever he held. Now it was a Levipile!
"Eh heh heh! Gotcha! Mik, 'anna go look?" Lifting one arm long enough to point towards the candles and stones, Levi scuffled a little closer. He gave the pile an experimental poke, curious as to what Mik was doing. Were they playing turtle?
