Candycoated Toxins elysia x  Regarding concern over violating copyright laws by using pictures from the internet --
AS A GENERAL RULE IN THE U.S. , YOU ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO USE A COPYRIGHTED IMAGE FOR AN EDUCATIONAL, RESEARCH, OR NOT-FOR-PROFIT PURPOSE. Of course, just like everything else that Corporate Lawyers are insane enough to worry about, copyright laws are very, very complicated, & currently even the law itself seems to be confused about what's copyright infringement & what's not. However, as it currently stands, AS LONG AS YOUR USE OF A COPYRIGHTED IMAGE IS IN NO WAY CONNECTED TO ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU MONEY, YOU'RE PROBABLY A-OKAY.... Because an enemy of man is what I am, & when the end comes you'll hear me laughing...
Uhh. Actually. I gotta say - starbloody's concerns are pretty legit, because how I read it was that he/she had issues with using other peoples' artwork, like photos from dA, which I totally agree with. Common courtesy, there.
Though I now have no qualms about using other, non-dA images for this. Tag folder raid time GET!×××
Using people's artwork from DeviantArt is an obvious no-no... I mean, that should go without saying. Copyright issues aside, DeviantArt is full of photos that have already been digitally edited to look better or whatever, so it could pretty easily count as cheating in this contest.
Somebody... I don't know who because I immediantly deleted their post since they were trying to insert new rules into the contest & were talking like a crew member with authority over this contest, without even clearing it with me or anything... was basically ordering people not to use ANY images from the internet unless they got permission from the person the image was from. Maybe I misunderstood them, but I don't think so.
Anyway, copyright laws are INCREDIBLY complicated, but people do tend to clearly blow out of proportion image copyright laws [only people on Gaia, oddly enough].
I mean, if using images from Google images is against copyright laws, then GOOGLE IMAGES ITSELF IS AGAINST COPYRIGHT LAWS HARDCORE, & is the real culprit. So there.... Because an enemy of man is what I am, & when the end comes you'll hear me laughing...

Ha, i used to use adjustment layers like crazzzzy. Maybe i got bored of them, now i just stick only to gradient maps and actions. stare
