alleira One of my previous cats once dragged a pigeon in through the open window - the beast had just sat down for a bit of a rest on the windowsill, minding its own business, when it got collared by a large, black Persian cat... He didn't kill it, just chased it about a bit - when I got home (this happened while I was out), he was guarding the bird, which, by then, was cowering under the bed - I could see there'd been a chase by the feathers all over the bedroom. So, I had to get cat out of room, coax bird from under bed - it then tried to fly straight through the window pane... the bird kept flapping about in panic (so did I), while the cat watched from the doorway with a sheepish expression. Eventually, I managed to catch the pigeon under a cloth and put it out of the window again - it flew off, apparently shaken but not stirred! Lil-Jo - I love that somersaulting KiKi in your signature! xd Hooray! A happy ending. (Sorry, I know that's not really in character, but I'm still a little jazzed from watching tapes of the new Dr. Who.)

Lil-Jo jellysundae got to ask, we're talking about a big dog here right? not a Yorkshire terrier or something.. ninja Yea, a Rotweiller mix and a Shepard mix... This one is the chicken lover and the one that brought in a cat. Adam is the Shepard mix, he is a big baby that thinks he is a lap dog. Oh my god is he cute, and he sounds a lot like my Samantha-puppy, she has brought home a few things, one being a cat as well sweatdrop

Why thank you....
Has anyone ever moved with fish? Not moved in with fish, but moved a pretty long distance with fish. When we moved from CA to MN we brought our fish with us. We used a 5 gallon bucket and a bubbler in the bucket. We were on the road for 5 days and only lost 1 fish during the trip. Now when we did that, the largest fish we had was about 4 inches long. We currently have a very large tank and I'd have to guess that we have about 6 fish that are 10 to 12 inches long and a few more smaller than them. It may sound funny to say that I have gotten attached to the fish, but that is sorta what has happened. We plan on moving next summer, we are not sure where we will be going for sure yet, but we will be moving. The thought I had was to get a large rubbermaid style container and do basically the same thing we did previously. We would possibly have to use 2 of them, but that would give the fish more space for movement.
Any suggestions, serious or funny would be great..

Easter is just around the corner... does anyone have plans? I think I will be alone this year, my husband will be on the road working, my son will be at work and my daughter will probibly be out as usual (teenagers are rarely at home)... Any good ideas for food for 1 plus a few pets?

Are your fish cold water then? My fish are tropical and i don't think they'd manage out of their tank for that long

Interesting thing about bigger dogs - they all seem to think they are lap dogs. Fortunately our Springer Spaniel/Australian Shepherd mix hasn't brought home anything... well except a litter of 10 pups but that's another type of bringing. gonk
The cat on the other hand likes to leave me lots of presents - birds, mice, lizards, some strange looking mouse-rat like thing, moles, bats, baby bunnies, etc... the only one she actually brought into the house was a mouse. She didn't kill it, either. She set it in the middle of my kitchen floor and the two played stare down with each other. Finally she grew bored and left him there and he meandered off behind the counter. Took another day before the babysitter caught it. Poor thing died of shock an hour or so later. She beats up on the dog occasionally, too. twisted

Lil Brat The cat on the other hand likes to leave me lots of presents - birds, mice, lizards, some strange looking mouse-rat like thing, moles, bats, baby bunnies, etc... the only one she actually brought into the house was a mouse. She didn't kill it, either. The old theory was that when cats did that, they were honoring you with a gift. New theory is that the cat is treating you as a kitten and is trying to teach you to hunt. I tend to go with the second theory.

Yes, that second theory would seem to fit the cat mentality better.

And I can't stand cats. So if it works for both of us, it must be a good theory!
