"Um... everyone's okay the way they are though. They've all got their reasons for it, Aran." Leena answered, now a bit more sincere than before... as she was trying to make an 'impression.' "I owe my life and my services to everyone here... after all they've done for Eyris. This is my one and only home, I don't wanna see these 'heroes' take it over! We were happy before they came, so why did they come?"

Now, she was getting angry. She hated tyrants, bandits, nomads, and other groups because of their tendencies to ruin everyone's lives. It was understandable... wasn't it?

He smirked, leaping into the air with her and guiding her toward the forest just south of Eyris, where there was little morph activity and plenty of privacy. "I want to show you my old hunting grounds. And maybe teach you a few things," he added with a wink, dipping down and sweeping just over the wall with her.

They swept just above the treetops, and then he let go of her hand and flapped a few times to get ahead of her. "Follow me!" he said. "Try to keep up!" He banked left and dipped below the treetops, then shot like a between the trees, making hairpin turns at breakneck speed as he led her to a place of secrets...

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!"
"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

A dragon-like wing flapped out of a cloud, followed by the rest of the wyvern and the carrot top riding it. She directed the creature directly back toward the castle, with the utmost haste. She took but one small glance down at the streets, to see several angry citizens raising their fists in protest of her, showing their disgust for any solider of the castle. She sighed and then pressed on.

After she made it back, she dismounted, leaving her wyvern to be taken care of by some common soldiers, and rushing into the castle. She pushed against both doors and they swung open. She regained her footing and started to run down the hallway. Passing a servant of the castle, she called out, asking where Captain Vaida was. The servant simply pointed down the hall, so she kept going. Having just taken office, nobody really knew where she was supposed to be, so it wasn't going to be easy trying to find her. She herself hadn't even been in Learania very long. Not knowing what to do, she applied to join the castle guard, and started the training for it. She had just finished her training the day of the festival. So, obviously, sh had no idea where anything w- PLOP!

She turned a corner, still rushing along, only to be cut off by a pair of gigantic boobs, that she had just run her face into, by not looking where she was going. There was no doubt about it.... she had found Captain Vaida.

"Can I... help you with something... Mihira?!"

A harsh voice rang out from the woman, and Mihira instantly backed up, blushing as red as her crimson armor. "C-Captain Vaida!" She rang out. "I have located the FEF members, as you have ordered, ma'am! They are north, probably at the mountains! But there's-"

She was cut off, by a hasty response from her superior officer. "Excellent! As long as they're ok where they are, then all we need to do is focus on getting these idiot citizens to shut the hell up."

"A-actually, ma'am, there's trouble! As I was searching for them, I saw a battle underway! I was able to note the presence of several FEF members! But then... I-I saw.. a dracozombie! They need help! Please, Captain, there must be something we can do!"

Vaida stood still, taking in the information as well as she could. "...Dracozombie? What the hell? Either one made its way all the way from that disgusting land, or.. I see. One of the heroes, the beast mistress, from the texts. Damn it!" Vaida held a fist tight, and punched the wall hard, creating a hole. The girl jumped a little, as she did it, too. Vaida took a short moment to calm down, then she looked her new subordinate in the eyes, with a commanding look. "Have all the wyvern riders prepare to set out! Make sure they're ready, whenever I give the word! Make sure any guards who leave their positions because of this order are replaced! If that can't be done, improvise with any resources we have! Don't let any son of a b***h citizen think for a second that just because they see a bunch of soldiers leaving in the sky, that the castle defense is weak! but before you do all that.... prepare my wyvern, Umbriel! I'm going to go see that supposed drunkard "Ghis" myself!" With that, she swung herself around, her cape almost hitting the girl right in the face, and stormed off, down the hall.

The girl stood there, with her mouth open, blinking only once, enraptured by her captain. She snapped out of it, when she was almost hit by the cape, and stood up straight and nodded. "Yes, ma'am!!"

Aran nodded respectively at Leena. "Just as I owe mine to the FEF guild. They took me in after I.. Well, stumbled upon Eyris." He wasn't sure if she knew about the door,Whatever, she may find out sometime he thought.

Aran shrugged "Maybe it's just Eyris' destiny to be constantly harassed by invaders"

"Our... destiny?" Leena blinked at the thought of it and sighed. "I guess we both would be out of work if bad things didn't happen, but... why is it we're always targets? I don't get it."

"I wish I knew why, but I guess the only thing we can do right now is focus on current events." He stared down at his food, he ate some of it during the conversation, but he thought it rude to be talking with a mouthfull of food. He ate the rest of the food and took sips of his drink in between pauses.

“Kitty’s so fuzzy,” a small girl’s voice giggled.
“So cute too,” added another.

Lethe’s feline ear flicked as the sounds rang in her head. She groan softly as a wave of pain shot through her skull. Opening her eyes the cat laguz saw one child sitting near her head and the other playing with her tail. After blinking a few times Lethe realized that she lying in her beast form and yet the girls continued to play with her features. Aren’t they afraid? Young beorc normally fear her kind in their animal forms. That prejudice got on the cat’s nerves more than anything. Although Tellius was changing, old social habits were very hard to break.

Suddenly bright light engulfed her body as she shifted into a humanoid shape. The two sat in awe as Lethe stood in front of them.

"Kitty is a lady now," they said with glee.
Rubbing the back of her head Lethe asked, “what happened? Where am I?” "Am I seeing double?" she thought before perceiving that the small females were twins.
“Kitty jumped in through the door and crashed into stuff,” the older of the sisters answered.
“Then Daddy’s hammer fell and hit Kitty on the head,” replied the younger.
Looking down she spotted broken wood from destroyed crates and many different weapons including the hammer they mentioned laying on the floor. It appeared that these beorc children were telling the truth.
“That answers one of my questions, but where am I,” Lethe asked again still confused. Her head pain dulled slowly. The room was primarily lit by two candles. From what she could make out, the beast laguz stood in a storage room of sorts.

"We're in Daddy's weapon shop. Upstairs is where our family lives. Mommy and Daddy are sleeping, but we couldn't sleep. Too noisy outside so we're playing hide 'n go seek instead," the twins spoke in unison, each with a big grin on her face.
“There were two people with wings, a man and a lady, in here earlier, but they left. Guess they didn’t want to play with us. Oh well! You came to play much after they were gone!”
“People with wings? Could they have been fellow laguz?” Normally she could sniff out who they were, if they were familiar or not, but the stink of metal and other smithing materials clouded her sense of smell. “Tell me. What color were their feathers,” she questioned curious to find out which tribe they were from. Lethe had fought along side quite a few birds in the Mad King’s War as well as the struggles against Begnion’s empire. Perhaps her comrades were in this place as well. It never occurred to the Gallian warrior that she was on a continent other than Tellius.
“It was really hard to tell. We were hiding,” the youngest started. “Really well too. We didn’t make a peep.”
“I think they were black... Yeah! Black as night,” the elder daughter explained.
“Ravens,” Lethe murmured. Her least favorite of the avian breeds.
“Does Kitty know them?”
She looked down, slightly annoyed by the nickname “Kitty.” “Stop calling me that. I am Lethe, warrior of Gallia.”
“Gallia? What’s a Gal-lee-a?”
The cat girl seemed a bit shocked. Surely these children would have learned at least the names of other countries in their world. “Didn’t your parents teach you about the laguz? You know. People like me?”
"La-goose? What are they," the twins inquired. "Mommy and Daddy don't say that a lot. Just when they're talking about the FEF."
How could this be? Everyone knows of our existence. Could I be in some far off village that has been cut off from the rest of the world,” she questioned in her head. “This all seemes so confusing. ...No, a leader must keep a calm head and be in control of the situation.” Lethe closed her eyes then breathed in and out slowly.
“Is Kitty in FEF?”
“Hope not. Everyone’s mad the FEF for hurting the heroes from a long time ago.”
She let out a short, soft growl. “FEF? What is that,” the laguz asked about this foreign term.
The older kid replied, “It’s a group of a lot of people. They come from all kinds of places. They’re suppose to help people. Don’t know why they’re bad guys now.”
“Lots of people are yelling at them in front of Eyris castle,” the younger kid added.
If I am going to get a grasp of where I am, I’m going to need to find this FEF. Someone there is bound to know how I can get back to my kin,” she thought. “How can I reach Eyris castle from here?”
"That's easy!" They grabbed Lethe's hands and dragged her outside the weapons shop.
“Go that way!” The elder sister pointed down the street. In the distance, the top of the castle could be seen over the houses.
“Kitty has super hearing anyway. Just follow the yelling!” The youngest started to push the cat in the right direction.
“H-hey! I can walk there on my own,” she protested. Lethe shifted to her beast form. It would be quicker to run on all fours. After running a few yards, she looked back to the twin girls. They were waving vigorously. “Beorc children are ...strange,” she said in her mind before resuming her travels.

A half an hour passed before Lethe finally spotted the barricades and a large group of rioters. This must of been what those kids were talking about. The cat laguz slowly crept in the shadows of the buildings so she wouldn’t gain any unwanted attention from the angry citizens. The last thing she need was panicked beorc mistaking her for an enemy.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 23, 2009 9:21 pm

The cat laguz slid through the crowd, wearing her brown cloak that she habitually wore while in large gatherings of beorc. Today especially, she didn't want to show off her heritage- the citizens were becoming volatile, and it would be just the thing for them to turn on people of her race... She sniffed the air, trying to pick up the scent of Raven that she'd caught earlier, but it had been taken away by the wind.

Lyre chewed on her lip, stopping under a shop's overhanging canvas to shuffle her feet in the dirt. She was terribly worried about her best friend in Eyris, Amelia... and there was nothing the cat could do about it on her own! She pursed her lips together in a pout, and blinked her eyes rapidly to get rid of the moisture that was growing there. She was just Lyre... and Lyre was never helpful at all... in fact, she'd done nothing at all to help FEF in their current plight, and the guilt was eating at her more than anything. She kicked up some more dust, before moving down the street again, not paying much attention anymore to her surroundings.

It took her until she unknowingly smacked into someone to be shaken out of her reverie. The man she bumped into glared at her, and grabbed her by the wrist. Before he could say anything remotely threatening, however, Lyre screamed a scream to loud enough and pitchy enough to make any cat and their cousin proud.

"DON'T YOU TOUCH ME!"

Eyeing the crowd, Lethe looked for her chance to speak to the guards. Those rioters weren’t letting up with their protest. What made them so angry? These beorc villagers seemed very determined for whatever reason.

The cat laguz decided to shift into her human-like form. Traveling out in the open would be only slightly easier now. Although with a hooded cloak, things might be simpler. Suddenly a familiar shriek rang in her ears. “Lyre?” Lethe’s morale quickly rose. If her sister was in this town, perhaps she wasn’t far from Gallia after all. The feline raced to where Lyre’s shrill came from.

Upon reaching her destination, Lethe noticed a human grabbing her twin sister by the wrist. She bared her fangs. “Let her go! NOW,” the cat hissed, obviously pissed that he was intending to hurt a member of her family. “I won’t repeat myself!”

The sun was coming up and the riot was still going. Not as strong as before, because those people who had decided their time was better spent in bed had gone home, but there were still plenty of the stupidly obtuse making trouble. Ganon had fallen asleep on the mattress with Ed and Hatmon once he had bandaged his claws and fingers. With the light of the morning sun and plenty of rest, the snake had snuck off the mattress and made his way back to his cart. He re-strung his violin and carefully strapped it around his back, then picked up his guitar and started for the North Gate.

He could make it another day or two without food. Past that, though, and he'd probably start feeling hungry. He knew a spot that would be good to practice for now, though, and made his way toward it. A nice, open field with a big pecan tree to sit under. He walked out the gate, stretching in the morning sun, and walked straight off the path, his talons sweeping through the long, dew-covered grass.

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!"
"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

The doors to the courtyard flung open, and Vaida flew through them, chest first as always, her cape flying freely after her. She was followed by her miniature companions, who was skipping happily, without a care in the world. Vaida glanced around, and saw that there was soldiers readying their mounts for whenever her order came. Some were already prepared and were helping the others. For "generic" soldiers, they sure did seem to think well enough, when given orders.

She made her way up to Mihira, who was waiting eagerly for her captain's arrival, standing up straight, trying to be the best soldier possible. Umbriel was beside her, ready for use, whenever the rider was. When she arrived, she stopped in front of Mihira, and looked down at her. Tori jumped up on a platform and began to balance herself on one foot, attaining her balance perfectly right off the back.

"Mihira. Stay here and make sure nothing goes amiss. I have no clue if there are any crew in this castle, but if one shows up, you listen. I'll be back, when I'm done flipping a b***h to this drunkard."

With that, she passed by her subordinate and swiftly mounted her wyvern. Without even looking, she reached down on her left and plucked up Tori, and placed her in back. She looked back at Mihira, then forward again. She whipped the reins, and ordered Umbriel into the sky, and was off, toward the headquarters of the town watch.

In this current situation, for her to walk there would only be trouble, and a waste of time. Before Umbriel was even hardly in the air, it was about time for her to land. Vaida landed out back, in what may or may not have served as a courtyard of some sort. It didn't matter, it was a place to land. Umbriel's mighty wings picked up a lot of dust, as she landed, and then the wyvern lord jumped off. Tori slid off, right after her, and looked around, in awe of this new place she had never been. Vaida glanced at the people who were looking at her in a 'were the heck did she come from?' look, then scoffed and walked toward the entrance to the building. All she said was "Umbriel, stay!" As she walked. Tori followed behind her gleefully.

When she got to the entrance, she pushed greatly on the doors, and flung them open. She then took a deep breath and let out something of a roar throughout the building. "HEY! WHOEVER THE HELL GHIS IS, GET YOUR a** OUT HERE! I WANT TO TALK TO YOU!" She didn't yell it threateningly, or at least she didn't mean it that way or anything, she just wanted to get down to business. She had sent that other guys here a while ago, and he had yet to return. She turned around, to look at the shocked faces of those who were around. She rose her hand, and placed it on her spear, which was on her back, as a warning to stop looking at her that way, and they all looked away quickly. Typical. She then folded her arms under her chest, and sighed.

"Hurry your a** up...."

"...Cap'n Ghis? You, um, might want to get up."

Javert lightly tapped the (amazingly) still-snoring General with his lance. At least he wasn't snoring as heavily as before... Vaida HAD yelled loudly enough. It was just that so many had been out all night, quelling the riots. Charice was unable to see and move about as well at night, so she was excused from night duties and therefore already out and about this morning, patrolling. Others, however, had seen to building barricades and keeping rioters from scaling them and otherwise causing harm. He, at least, thought they'd done a good job keeping the riot contained.

Still, there was the fact that Ghis was still asleep from staying up all night. ...And some violent-looking woman had appeared and didn't seem too keen on waiting for him to sleep off the night's events.

He took a look over at the hot tea kettle brewing in the mess hall. Tea was the drink of the morning in getting people to wake up... it missed a bit of a kick to it, but at least it was hot, and if you drank it while it was still hot, the sensation of heat pouring down your throat was generally enough to get you to scream something to the effect of "HOT!!".

Then he turned his eyes down to a cool pitcher of water. Yeah, THAT plan sounded a lot less painful.

"One moment, ma'am!" he called out to Vaida, taking the pitcher and walking back into the barracks.

A moment later, there was a splashing noise, followed by a loud "WHAT I' BLAZES!?"

This was followed by "Eh, Javert? This'd BETTER be good... wha? Someun' here ta see me? Aye, fine, I'll get up..."

He could hardly be bothered to dry off, let alone put on clothes.

So, out marched Ghis in a pair of pants and nothing else on, matched with a heavyset girth that suggested a mix of fat and muscle about, as well as a head of long brown hair that seemed to have recently been drowned.

"It be warm out there," Ghis offered to Vaida, a bit too tired to realize just who the heck he was talking to, "and ah been oot all night, quellin' the riots. Pardon the attire--I be Ghis. So ye be th' new Cap'n o' th' Guard, aye? Cap'n Vaida?"

...Heck of a rack o' that. Ah feel like a man coul' suffo... suffo... DIE i' there, he thought dimly as he looked at her. ...Hard to miss the rack, you see.

"About time! Yeah, that's me, the new-"
Vaida hadn't looked at him when he first came out, as she was semi-facing the other direction. But, when she did turn around to see him, it caused her to pause mid sentence.
"What the hell!"
Tori looked over and shrieked, then fell back, on her butt.
"I don't have time for your s**t!" She screamed at him. "Let's get down to it! Where do you stand? Do you believe these rumors? Of course, if you do, you should know, it means we're enemies. But I've got to know now, you see, so- MY FACE IS NOT DOWN THERE!!"

Ghis had to admit, Vaida was a good way of getting someone awake. He finally snapped to attention at Vaida's remark about how chest =/=face, and so brought his own up so he looked at hers.

Where did he stand? Believeing the rumors? He rather disliked such questions. They literally put you on the spot, and earlier, answering such a question honestly might've put him in danger. Sure, they were civilians, but put enough of them together, and sooner or later one of them will figure out how to land a lucky blow and down you went. Even here, he couldn't be sure--a lot of these Watch were fresh recruits. Some of them might believe the rumors. It was evident Charice didn't, and regardless of Javert's opinion, he wouldn't do anything TOO stupid.

But then again, this new Captain was handpicked by Dan himself. THAT spoke more than what a bunch of new recruits might think. Caution could be kicked to the curb this time...

"Ah could care less 'bout any rumors," he said with a shrug. "Ah've seen FEF come t' our aid afore, n' I've nay reason t' see why they'd not be comin' t' our aid now. Ah stand with FEF, n' tha's tha'. So nae, the Watch be not yer enemies."

Since Vaida jarred him fully awake, Ghis noticed that his hair was still sopping wet from where Javert had splashed him. Picking up a nearby towel, he began drying off his hair. He was aware of a few stares at his back at what he'd just said, but he could deal with them after she left.

"So! Anythin' else ye need t' know?" Ghis asked as he finished toweling.

Hatmon suppressed a yawn; rubbing her muzzle against the back of one of her paws. It was late; already dark out, in fact, and she couldn’t help admitting catching a few more winks would be nice. Sleeping was never as nice as afternoon naps in the sun; with her black fur it was always fairly comfortable. It was probably important she didn’t deny her body though, not with this itching in the back of her mind that said she might actually have a chance to battle. Battling wasn’t her life, but it was a natural part of her job; meaning going without it for too long could be dangerous should she run into trouble.

As Ed cocked her head, Hatmon followed suit by cocking her own in return. “I’m a chimera,” she stated, as if it was the most obvious, natural thing in the world. “Speaking of your question, I would like to ask the same of you, but… I shall have your answer wait until morning…” She said; the last words more of a mumble that was barely audible. Sleep quickly overtook her and forced her eyes shut as she let her head fall onto of her paws. Her fluffy black tail curled around her body before she drifted off to the world of dream.

When morning dawned, hers eyes shot open to discover Ganon had vanished quite suddenly and that she had been left alone on the mattress with Ed. She stood up and stretched out her body; even flapping her small wings to get the blood flowing again. It was still quite early, the sun having just risen; making it a perfect time for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, the fox was finding herself quite hungry after just waking up causing her to worry slightly about her employer. She assured herself he was well though, and that she would find him as soon as possible.

There were many possibilities for things to do, but Hatmon first wanted that answer that she had been too tired to stay up for last night. Her attention fell on Ed as she moved her tail to slide across the girl’s shoulder and hopefully tickle her awake. As soon as she awoke, Hatmon sprung her questions on her. “So, what are you? And are you finding yourself hungry this morning?”
