Yuki nodded, though it was practically useless in the darkness. She fiddled with the flashlight until she finally found the switch. "Here we go." She flicked it on and quickly shined it on Wolfie's hand.

Nykol wanted to help invesitage with the others and was about to, when Severus leapt from her arms and ran.
"Severus!" Nykol groaned, chasing after the moonlit. She lost sight of him for awhile, but found him curled up in a small dark hiding spot. She knelt down, peeking into it. "Severus, what in the world are you doing?" she asked, moving her dark grey hair from her face. She reached into the darkness to try to pull him out, only to get her hand bit.
With a soft gasp, Nykol pulled her hand back, shocked. He hadn't bitten hard enough to hurt her; it was more of a warning. She was about to scold the wolf, when he let out a long whine. "Severus?" She reached in again, and this time he allowed her to pull him out.
The grey pup had grown larger, and Nykol realized that he'd only done what he did every other time he went through a growth spurt. She pulled the now adult moonlit onto her lap and held him close. "Poor thing.. Look, you're all covered in dust now..." she murmurred, pulling the cobwebs off of him.

Wolfie tumbled the item again and watched it pulse in the light. Whoa.... pulse? Wolfie looked closer. It was another one of those moonstones. A strange green colored one that seemed to vibrate under the flashlight. There was a rope tied through it somehow, though it had been split, perhaps with wear.
Wolfie glanced back at the spot she had found it in. Hmmmm. "I wonder if Evermoon would agree with me, but I have the feeling that this stone has something to do with that moonlit." Wolfie tucked the trinket into her pocket for the timebeing and reached for the opening of the hole instead.
Hefting herself out of the dark hiding spot she paused for breath and looked back down into the hole. "Yuki, you need help?" She waited for a reply, watching Tals moonlits around the newcomer.

Yuki watched the stone pulse in Wolfie's hand. 'Cool!' She looked back up at Wolfie and nodded. "It looks like it. Look at the rope. Maybe the stone was tied around the moonlit or something. Hey!" She continued to speculate as Wolfie hoisted herself up through the hole. "Maybe the stone has some sort of effect on the moonlits. You know, like your potions."
Yuki prepared to pull herself up next. "No, thanks. I got it." She shut the flashlight off and squeezed it into her pocket, then pulled herself up and out of the whole. She smiled as the faint yips of her puppy echoed around.
Hakana was bouncing around Nykol and her moonlit. It seems she had given up trying to play with the new pup, while it was being cleaned. She put her front paws on Nykol's lap and reached up, to sniff at Severus.

"Perhaps?" Wolfie pondered those thoughts for a moment. "It might explain the hording of them down in the chamber outside that Lion and I found."

Yuki stooped out of the tiny storage-like room and continued her conversation with Wolfie. "You have more? Maybe you can add the stones to your potion collection. Or..." She paused, thinking about the poor moonlits suffering from the unstable potions. "Maybe you should wait until the unstable moonlits get better before you sell them." She laughed sheepishly. She didn't want to sound like she was insulting Wolfie's methods or anything.
Quickly, she remembered the trunk and figured it would be a good subject changer. "Hey! Are we still going to open that trunk?"

Wolfie grinned. "But of course!" She paused a moment and looked between the new moonlit and Yuki. "Lets see if we can carry it to the common room. There is more light in there and more space to unload things."
Wolfie carefully took one of the tattered leather handles and hoped that it wouldnt fray under the weight of the old trunk. She didnt even know how heavy it was since she had never really tried to move it before. Wolfie knew that old wood was meant to withstand things, so it might be heavier than modern trunks. Or maybe it was empty? Or maybe there was something creepy locked in there and it was better left unopened?
She shushed her mind up for a moment and braced her footing for the moving of the trunk.

"Yay!" Yuki squealed with excitement and went over to the other side of the trunk. She nudged it lightly with her foot and it didn't move. 'So it may be a little heavy.' She squatted down and grabbed the old handle and pulled to make sure it was sturdy; it was. Her eyes moved from the trunk to Wolfie and she noticed that her friend was all ready to lift. "Alright. On the count of three we lift and take the trunk to the common room." Yuki's grip tightened. "1...2...3!" She stood up, slowly hoisting the trunk up as well. "You go out first Wolfie."

Wolfie carefully backed her way out of the tiny room, ducking as the beam overhead nearly claimed her. Making baby steps towards the common room, Wolfie was careful not to swing the old trunk into the walls...or into Aunt Bea's antique desk for that matter! ((check out the story for the desk in the story thread))
"I don't know whats in here, but this trunk weighs a ton!" Wolfie gripped the handle tighter afraid to let go by accident, her palm suddenly sweaty. "I hope there is something good inside!" Wolfie grinned as they made their way into the larger room. The moonlits cleared a path as they went.

Yuki groaned, trying to keep the heavy trunk steady. "I don't know. Maybe there's it's gold!" Yuki smiles at Wolfie. She would have laughed not all her air been used up to carry this trunk. Seing as how Wolfie was going backwards, Yuki directed Wolfie into the common room. "You're almost there Wolfie. Just be careful going into the room."
Hakana popped her head up and yipped as she noticed her owner was back. She got up and ran towards Wolfie and Yuki. First, she circled Wolfie's feet, then jumped around Yuki until she was scooted away by one of Yuki's feet.
"Hakana..." A soft, groan rumbled through Yuki's throat. "You're going to get someone hurt." She looked around her feet to make sure Hakana had stepped aside, she did. "I know you're ready to put this thing down now Wolfie." She smiled. "I'm ready when you are."
((I should bring Kei into this somehow...*thinks*))

Wolfie tripped over Hakana as the pup tagled around her feet. She was so tiny and Wolfie could barely see her with the trunk in the way. She was afraid to hurt the little one. "Right here is fine. Watch out for Hakana though, dont want any paws trapped under this thing." Wolfie slowly lowered her end to the floor. She pushed at it with her food a bit and the tiny old-fashioned castered underneath sqeeled as the trunk rolled a few inches, pointing the locks and clasps at Wolfie.
As Yuki lowered her own end, Wolfie tugged on the lid. Nothing. She tried to unbuckle the secure clasps on the sides and they wouldnt budge. "I dont think its warped closed." Wolfie stated with slight concern. "I wonder why it wont open." She tugged again, just to be sure it wasnt just the humity expanding the old wood. "Perhaps the key Evermoon found might open this? Id hate to break this old thing."

Yuki squatted down and examined the trunk's clasps. "Nope. It's not warped, so I think it needs a key." She stood back up and dusted her hands off. "If Evermoon has a key, it's worth a try. I wonder what's in it. Do you remember your aunt telling you anything about a trunk?"

"I actually remember the trunk. It seemed so grand when I was young. Like anything could come out of it and everything that did was worth a million bucks." Wolfie paused and laughed, kneeling on the floorboards. "You know how little kids are. They think an empty cardboard box might be worth something."
With a quiet yip of excitement, Wolfie reached into the back pockets of her jeans. They were not covered in odd amounts of soot and dust, strange smudges, and a couple of small tears from her adventure under the stairs. For the life of her, it seemed impossible to keep jeans clean and in good condition. She would need to purchase some new ones this spring for sure!
Her hand slipped into her back pocket and fumbled around for a moment. With a gasp she was afraid she lost the old skeleton key. Her heart sank and she opened her mouth to say something. Just then she remembered that she had placed the key in her other pocket, which for some reason wasnt as stretched out. Wolfie had felt at that time it was more secure there. She picked the other pocket and the key fell into her hands.
"Shall we try it?"

Yuki peered over Wolfie's shoulder at the trunk. She had the look of a child, eager for her mid-day treat. She almost bounced with a sort of excitement as Wolfie fumbled around for the key. When Wolfie pulled the key out, Yuki let out a soft gasp. "Open it!" She squealed childishly.
