[[Okay, since I'm new and I'm lazy, I'm gonna start in the center of the carnival (in the tents area and such)]]
Shane was in the middle of the festival, in his little bar tent, clients coming and going as he poured out the beer. "Boy, these people sure can drink." He thought, as a particularly large man had his 11th tankard. "I might run out before the end of the festival." As the large man staggered out the front flap, another man came in to take his place. "There is no end to the alcohol conossieurs." he thought with a small sigh. "What'll it be?" He asked to the man."I'll take a mug 'o' yer finest ale."the man replied. "Comin' right up, sir." Shane said as he turned around to pour the mug. After the man finished his drink, he said, "Thankee, Shane. Ye always have the right stuff. Here's a tip." the man said as he handed Shane a ten-piece tip. "It was my pleasure, sir. Enjoy the festival!" Shane responded amiably.
"Hmm, I've been sitting around here all day, serving beer, when I could be out enjoying the festivities myself! But what should I do first?" he thought, pondering the possibilities. "Well, I heard there was a tournament going on. I might like to enter." As he got up to close shop, another customer came in. Shane quickly served him and closed down his tent. "Just for now, I can always come back later. These people sure do like their alcohol." Shane thought as he walked around, looking for the events board. When he found it, he saw that the tournament was in a few more hours, after the opening ceremony. "Well, I guess I should attend the opening ceremony first. It wouldn't be proper to miss it." he thought with another small sigh as he made his way to where the opening ceremony would be.

"Festivities?" Cassie looked confused for a moment before realization hit. "Oh, the Festival. Right." She responded with a sheepish smile. She completely forgot about that. She cursed her authorities to hell and back for making her come to Chronopolis during the freaking festivals. She was bound to get distracted. Blowing indigo strands away from her face, she reminded herself that she was suppose to act like a girl visiting Chronopolis for the first time to enjoy the festival.
"I would love to see that. Thank-you." She murmered with a soft smile before linking her arm through his offered one, the palm over her hand resting just above his elbow. "Is this place always so packed with people?" She asked, curiously.

Kino would be the first to look away, moving in a slow advance to continue his original destination. "That's what it was!" With a snap of his fingers he would state before jolting into a run through a crowd of people, and out of sight. "Today is your lucky day sir!" His direction leading towards the center of Chronopolis.

"That is very true, sir," Azhure said agreeing with the lord. "Most of my work takes me away from the city, I'm afraid. Although I'm quite content that my services aren't required here!"
With an incline of her head towards the High Guard Captain who she recognised hustling toward them she added, "It would appear that you're required m'lord. I appreciate the company on the walk here." With brief movement that was almost a curtsy, she stepped aside to allow Lord Thomas to pass ahead.

Lenore wouldn’t have noticed the apothecary's shop even had the thing had flashing neon lights surrounding it, let alone any boring persons perusing its shelves. Of course, Lenore would catch the shopper’s eye. In a way, she was wearing her own form of neon lights. Rather, a vibrant shade which no one else on the streets seemed to sport anymore. Or maybe was it because she was amongst drab peasants? A muted red may show up here or there, but nothing like the vibrant scarlet Lenore favored today.
She wanted attention.
And where were all these people off to? Her admirers? A little put out that some people had the audacity to leave her positively radiant presence, she had followed out of a sullen anger. But now she realized the draw. It was almost time for the opening ceremonies to begin the grand festival. She understood, but she still let her low lip stick out in a sexy pout.
Always the one to see what was in it for her, Lenore quickly realized how this gathering could help her. With most of the festival attendees here in front of her, she could get a good read on whether or not today would be worth her time, or if she should return to her home on Redite Street.
To get a better view of the crowd, she walked up some poor shop’s or home’s front porch, which was slightly elevated. No matter that it was already bursting with people. They made way for her. She dazzled them with a smile, giving them a little something for their cooperation, and then began scanning the large crowd. With her head pointed away from where everyone else was looking, she searched for strong and handsome men. And the occasional woman.
From the looks of it, today promised to yield many treasures.

[[Who's the alchemist? O.o]]
Aidan emerged from her store room, carrying bottle on top of bottle. Her balance was good, exceptional even, which made the precarious situation a little less critical. She stepped over to the wooden box and began packing the vials into it. Sliding a plank of wood into the slats at the top of the box, she secured the delicate cargo and brought it over to her counter, ringing up. As the Apothecary looked out her open shop doors, she noticed that the stream of people had picked up. They all seemed to be heading toward the city center. 'It must be beginning... Perhaps I could close early? The others who were coming will not be here until later this evening....' Despite her usual aversion to large crowds of humans, the Elf found the people who came to festival... Very interesting. She quoted to the price to the Doctor, received payment, and thanked the customer for their patronage.
[[I'm going to rush things along a bit, Lise, I hope you don't mind. sweatdrop ]]
After Shizuru had exited the shop, Aidan retrieved her cloak from its place in the back corner, and put it on. Walking out the doors, a thought vaguely crossed her mind, 'I opened the shop for one customer...Perhaps that was a bit... Foolish.' Either way, the Doctor's purchase seemed to make up for it. Shrugging a little to herself, the Elf locked the doors to her shop and melted into the on coming crowd of people, sensing a few of her kind in it's midst. 'I guess I'm not alone in my curiosity,' Aidan thought lazily, allowing herself to be buffeted by the mass of people.

((Alright. Here comes the opening ceremonies. Let me try this in one post. First, let me free up Shrava if he wants to see the opening ceremonies. Articx, excuse me as I god mod Shravra a little bit. ))
Forest's eyes were slightly watery, and Shravra would be able to tell that the girl was biting her lips, trying not to cry. The shock of the burn must have been more than Forest expected. Funny how a teen could not realize that glowing metal usually meant..."hot" and "don't touch."
The girl thanked Shravra, albeit quickly so she could go back to biting her lips. After Shravra finished with the bandages, the girl brightened her eyes again. "Opening ceremony! You have to see this!" She jumped up and ran out the smithy. Forest looked forward to the ceremony for a particular reason, and people were going to find out soon what that reason was.
----
The lord nodded as Azhure slipped away, giving Allen full view of Thomas. There was no running away now... as if he was running away. With a sigh, the lord headed toward Allen, and together they headed to the raised platform near the other end of the town square.
-----
Kevin had finished his patrol of the sea, just in time. There was no need for him to watch Thomas's opening speech, but something always seemed to happen. He had stationed himself in a tower, so he could watch for distractions. In the distance, he noticed a array of sparkles. Who in the world would wear something so... bright? Of course, he had no idea he had just noticed the succubus Lenore. Too bad he was too far away to notice any details. Kevin bet Thomas would have some sort of reaction.
The crowds grew quiet as the High Guard captain went on the platform. There was no way everyone in town could hear one person from the town square. So, nearby, mages stood by, amplifying speakers' voices. Of course, there was that one time an inexperienced mage amplified Allen's voice, but made it sound like a high pitched mouse squeaking. That hadn't gone so well. This time, nothing of the sort would happen.
Anyhow, Captain Allen welcomed the town and then introduced Lord Thomas. Thomas slowly Although Kevin didn't know of Thomas's earlier trip into the fields, Zeroki would recognize that Thomas looked strikingly familiar to the man he had met in the fields in the morning if he was present.
"People of Chronopolis, a few years ago, we were stricken with a terrible depression. Yet none of you faltered. You have worked hard these past years to battle the depression that is now no more. I can safely say that Chronopolis has now recovered and is on the speedy path to a full recovery because of you.
Every year we hold a festival to commemorate our accomplishments and to test our skills. This year, our festival is even more significant, a sign of our recovery. On this note, for the fruits of our labor and enjoyment, let the festivities begin!"
Kevin sighed. The lord of Chronopolis had just winged the speech. He could have done better if he had tried, but it was enough. The depression had been pretty bad. And if the speech went on too long, people would get bored.
There suddenly came a rumbling from the platform, and as Thomas attempted to walk off, the platform collapsed.
...the Sea Captain could see Thomas's lips for a second mouth "Forest" before tumbling through the platform.
"Well, that's one way to start off the festival!" Kevin laughed as he headed toward the harbor again, where he was going to oversea the harbor competitions.
((For purposes of the roleplay, I won't specify competitions times. We can all decide on a place to be and random competitions and float about.))

((Yup, Trigger, it's ok.))
Shizuru thanked Aidan and headed back to her office with the box of sleeping potions. The crowd was moving pretty fast and she had to make sure the bottles didn't break.
She heard voices booming from the town square while she made her way to her office. Shizuru didn't care for the opening ceremony, not when she had thirty bottles with her that needed to be put down before she broke them.
The doctor scoffed as she noticed the scantily dressed lady again. What is she? A whore?

After the ceremony, Shane headed directly to where the tournament would be held. He was really looking forward to this. He was confident in his skills as a swordsman, but not cocky. He knew when to back down. When he got to the newly converted castle training grounds, he saw a handful of knights and peasants already there, skirmishing and talking amongst themselves. He looked around and saw a familiar face. He grinned as he saw his old buddy, Lyris, leaning on a weapons cabinet, his head turned down with a hat hiding the top part of his face, and sipping from a belt flask. "He always was known for carrying a belt flask." Shane thought. "'Ey! Lyris!" he shouted at him, causing all heads to turn but Lyris'. "Is that who I think it is?" Lyris said, keeping his head down and taking another sip from the flask. "The young man I met in the commongrounds? The same one who was serving ale like no tomorrow? Shane, you never were very subtle." as he said this, he looked up to reveal a smirk. The two walked over to each other and embraced in a brotherly fashion. "Ahh, Shane. It's good to see you again." Lyris said, holding Shane at arm's length. "You too, brother. I don't remember the last time we've had a drink." Shane replied. "There will be time for drinking and rabblerousing after the tournament. I take it you're going to enter?""Of course!" Shane said in a fake-insulted tone. "These guns weren't made for show, y'know." he finished as he flexed his right bicep."Now, we aren't getting a little cocky, are we?" Lyris said as he pounded a point in Shane's shoulder, which caused his arm to drop like a sack of potatoes. "Damn it, Lyris! Can't you just let me have a little fun?" Shane pleaded while laughing at the same time."Not a chance, my friend, not a chance. If we're going to enter in the tournament, shouldn't we.. enter?" Lyris asked as he pointed at the slowly elongating line of people. "Odin's beard, you're right! Let's get going then!" Shane said as he ran towards the line.

The lines that Shane referred to were the lines where people who hadn't had the chance to sign up could sign up now. Allen and others who had volunteered to get the signups done orderly were calmly or frantically attempting to keep everyone in order and moving as fast as possible.
Lyris and Shane were in luck as Allen had some lists in hand and approached them. "What would you like to sign up for?"
The boating competition would be in the harbor. Swordsplay was in the arena. The wood chopping was outside the inner wall for obvious reasons. There were many many more.

After the festival was officially opened, Azhure debated which competitions she wanted to watch. She'd been sorely tempted to enter a couple of the competitions but as she hadn't been able to attend the festival for several years she decided she would just be a spectator this time around.
Checking on the schedule of events she decided to go watch the swordsplay event first. She was always interested in seeing how others handled weapons - especially ones that were not her forte. She slid through the crowd fairly easily as most people didn't want to get too close to the blades she had strapped onto her thighs. She knew it was highly unlikely she would ever need them within the City but her training was to well ingrained for her to feel comfortable without at least a couple of knives on her. As she walked she acknowledged people she knew with a nod of her head. Most people had their own destinations in mind and didn't stop to chat with her.

"A-are you lady absolutely sure that this is an event?" The nervous boy, Kino would state in a hesitant tone. He'd motion backwards, moving in slow steps corresponding to the advance of a female group who'd showed fatigue in their features from several attempts to 'catch the "it" man'. "Yes, and if we catch you we can do anything we want." A young woman would claim with a signature wink. "B-but I've never heard of such an event..... Gah!" Kino's quick reflexes allowed him to dodge a leaping grab attempt from one female, then a side step to evade yet another. "N-no way!" Kino responded before sprinting into a run, chased and hunted playfully with the help of a lie.
