Rayne Bloodstone Divine_Malevolence Rayne Bloodstone -x- CocoNoire -x- Silent Sympathy There is something wrong with pointing something/somone out and flaming/attacking them. Some people like to rant to their real friends, others to their online friends. Some to both. What's so wrong about that? Because it can unintentionally offend someone, or it may start an argument. Bad-talking anyone is not appropriate. Then maybe everyone should have a warning at the top of their post saying,
"DO NOT READ IF YOUR ARE EASILY OFFENDED!"
You know? =/ People have a right to rant, just because others are more soft hearted then others does not mena you shouldn't be able to say something.
Have that at the top, then have the rest of the post in white so that the person can't accidently glance. Then add on to the sentence "By highlighting and reading, you're agreeing to not react in a negative way. If the post offends you, either controll your reaction or don't post." .... Or something along those lines. Perfect, that should be in the rules. Always make the text white, warnings at the top.
If the content is hateful or derragatory, it is still reportable, regardless of it's color.

Sorry. I just read the LI rules thread like thrice. Can't find that statement. D: Oh, by the way, your silver font color offends me. I find it to be ethnically insulting. You see, I'm Rusyin (Ruthinian), and in my culture, the color silver or gray was a sign of mourning the loss of a loved one. Every time you use that color to post, you are making a mockery of my heritage. Or what, am I taking the rule too literally now? Am I being over-sensitive about what is or isn't offensive? :/

It'd be a nice idea for sure n.n It would reduce the number of threads on this main forum that are rant-type threads, and it would help people when they just need some close friends to cry their hearts out to. 3nodding
But yes, definitely extreme amount of rules on namedropping, content, and major monitoring, but hopefully people will be reading the rules beforehand. 3nodding
*goes back to lurking the thread*

And rants are written in the heat of the moment, when everything just pours out. If someone is offended, they shoudl say so, but not attack the person posting the rant. There's a difference between letting someone know you were offended and just plain attacking and insulting them.

Don't just let everything go, I mean seriously. I am not going to write something horrible about you or the next person and then post it where everyone can see it. (Not like I would write something horrible anyways, I get over stuff quickly)

Which is against the rules.

CleoSombra No, but it's ethnically insulting to me. Which is against the rules. In that case, I would suggest you PMing a dev to disable the color so that no one on the site could use it, because I know I am most certainly not the only one posting in this font color.

Anything can be hateful. What Cleo posted earlier was not hateful towards any user, racial or ethnic group. It was a rant about her mother. Nowhere in the Gaia ToS does it state, "Ranting is not allowed." You are not allowed to flame, which is being DIRECTLY insulting. If you need an example, then let's say I said to Cleo, "You're a stupid b***h!" That would be a flame. Saying, "This person that I met is such a b***h, I freakin' hate her!" is not a flame. It is not prohibited by Gaia's ToS, nor the Rules and Regulations. And has been said MULTIPLE times... you don't have to read any rant thread. No one is forcing you to. If you don't want to read them, don't. That is all there is to it.

Yesterday, you called everyone vile. I think that's REALLY offensive. No, I'm not even joking now. A lot of people were offended when you called all the human race vile. That's pretty hateful. neutral

And how would you suggest that be avoided? As it would probably be better if you suggested a solution rather then just shooting everything down and delaying any and all progress. 'Cuz, at the moment, you're basically saying that ranting isn't allowd on the entire site, including in profiles, the one subforum, and everywhere.
