Pepper gave a nod to Bracken-rah and turned towards Ivy. Ready to follow her where ever she was to take them. He wouldn't let the situation get to him however, as it would do no good to worry and fear. Instead he gave a grin and sat on his hunches. Mud was the only thing keeping them from moving forth.

Bramblebur lifted his head from his grieving as a thought occured to him. Oh Frith and Inle where was Dewberry?! Had he seen her follow the group towards the scrapes. No, knowing her, she wouldn't have. He quickly ran to a slightly higher spot and stood up on his hind legs. He could see the scrapes and there was no sign of her. Perhaps she was inside? Oh, he could hope, couldn't he? The buck sprinted closer, his exhaustion fading into the background as the worry of the holy-than-thou doe's current location filled in its place.

"Ninebark, Vreka, everyone, is Dewberry in there? I can't recall having seen her follow. I pray I'm wrong." His voice was fairly calm but his anxious stance and the knit in his brow betrayed his worry. The buck took a deep breath and shook himself. "Also, Amita's gone from us..."

As Thyme reached the warren he stopped just outside one of the entrances to clean his face some more. The stinging had become a dull pain which seemed to cover the entire left side of his face, and he still wasn’t able to open his eye fully, “Bound to lose my sight, tis not good, not good at all” his mutterings were interrupted by a single thump to the ground, and sitting up on his haunches, Thyme looked around for what might be the threat. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary up here, everyone was chatting and the smell wasn’t as strong up here, though, now that he thought about it, why would the smell be up here at all?

Having not gotten very far, Cocklebur heard the thump as well and suddenly appeared out of the main run of the burrow. It was then that his red eyes caught sight of the blasted pfeffa doe. The large captain placed himself between her and the entrance to the burrow. Claws and teeth were brandished as he took on his most frightening appearance, sitting up on his hinds and looming over her. "Leave. NOW!" he bellowed, the whites of his eyes showing in his anger. "Or by Frith I'll kill you myself, diseased or not!"

Managing to hear his captain's bellow, Bracken suddenly turned his attention that way and quickly scampered up the hill to see what was going on.

Vreka shuddered at Ninebark's pronouncement. She crept closer to the lop. And as Bramblebur called down, she only shuddered worse. "No," She called, numb at the news of Amita's passing. "I've not seen the princess since before we moved to the scrapes."

So. Still cursed were they. Had they really left anything behind by running? Or had they just made things worse, bringing taint to those not deserving of it? "Alas, alas. Even small mercies are denied us." Suddenly, the gift of the scrapes didn't seem so comforting.

Frith be told, if the young prissy doe could have hissed like the Pfeffa she resembled, she would have done so about now. She was barely threatened by the large, looming presence of the giant buck, threatening to send her diseased corpse to the black rabbit. No, strangely enough, she was more annoyed by him than terrified, like any doe her size should be. Chiefs daughter or not, she was barely older than the outskirters, and certainly had little to no merits that earned her any real rank.

Except one.

Whether due to pure naive stupidity or a lack of fear, Dewberry had the will and determination of some of the toughest owsla. Had she any strength to put behind her hard-headed, foul-tempered nature, she'd be quite a force to be reckoned with.

For now, however, she did what she knew best.

"Well. I. NEVER!" She screeched, backing up a little and raising herself up onto her hinds, her pale blue eyes filled with the scorn that would until now only come from a Marli defending her kits from a plague of rats.
"Who DARE you foul beasts treat me with such disrespect?! Ever since that stupid sickness gripped the land it was as if everyone had disregarded all ounce of manners. Not once have I heard a simple please or thank you. You might be captain of owsla of a foreign Warren but did you ever ask nicely?? How your marli would be sick to her teeth if she ever found out you treated such a lady in your presence." She hissed. "I bet none of the does around here get any of the respect they deserve for producing the mighty owsla, including yourself!"

She pounded her foot on the ground out've agitation, a habit she had picked up from her old warren, something that made quite a few of the bucks cringe due to her connection to her overly doting father, along with her frightful temper.

"Your name's Cocklebur, isn't it? I heard so earlier." She snorted in light disgust. "You're all the same. The name suits you well, you're just like Bramblebur, some annoying little seed that get's your fur all ruffled up!"

Blackwort had been patrolling the Down when he had heard the bellow from his fellow Owsla officer, Cocklebur. Tattered ears instinctively turned to the source of the noise, and the owner of them wafted his nose towards the direction in which the sound had come from. His nose immediately crinkled in distaste.

"Something stinks..." He muttered aloud to himself. The fact that his officer was yelling though.... it worried him. He immediately bounded off towards Cocklebur, ready to defend him if he was in trouble, or act as backup if it was required.

"What's all this, then?" He said suddenly as he approached the older rabbit, immediately turning his attention to the hlessi doe, glaring at it. "What are YOU doing?"

Thyme heard the shouting and that’s when he noticed the unfamiliar doe. He shuddered as Cocklebur stood over her, threatening her with death. Whatever happened, she was bound to get some form of punishment, similar, if not much worse then what he just received not moments ago. That doe definitely didn't seem to understand what was happening, and despite her rudeness and overwhelming self-confidence, Thyme felt some pity for her. He stayed his distance though, afraid that Cocklebur might see him and take his anger out on him if he moved closer, "This is not good at all"

The warren entrance wasn't that far from Zorn's Rock, where he and Sparrow had been sitting. The large black and white male puffed up as he moved slowly towards the entrance, though Cocklebur's words were loud and aggressive. He wanted to see just what would happen and if the Captain really would run her off. It was a sticky situation, what with that diseased doe being anywhere near.

Hearing her mouth off to the wickedly tempered rabbit made him shake his head and tut with shame for her. Her words would surely earn her harsh reprimand, regardless of illness or not...

"This is not good, not good at all. She's diseased, Blackwort, sir, mightn't want to get to close." He warned gently.

"Prissy Paws? No haven't seen her. Not for a while. Not here, in the below..." On hearing of Amita's death, he bristled and shuddered slightly. His gut feeling had been right, his vision, right. While it pleased him to know so, it was also chilling and he silently mourned the loss of the straggling doe, even if he never got to know her all that well.

"Small mercies... Perhaps they will return soon, Vreka, though I still see a dark haze for the time being. The Black Rabbit still dances here and it will be a while before he goes on his way, leaving us to our own."

Cocklebur looked most indignant as the little doe dared to talk back to him. She was in no position to be telling -him- off! Although Bracken had allowed them to stay in the scrapes he had clearly ordered them not to be anywhere near. Was this doe daft? Or perhaps driven mad by whatever illness plagued them. She was in clear violation! However, it seemed that she had no intention of leaving and as she prattled on, Cocklebur's anger only rose.

The captain clacked his teeth angrily and a growl boiled up from deep within his throat. Half driven mad by the rancid smell, his instinct to rip her apart and rid themselves of the disease, the captain lept for her with claws aiming to rip into Dewberry's flesh.

"Cocklebur! STOP!" Bracken shouted as he finally made it to the top of the hill just in time to see the captain going after the doe, but it was too late to stop it now. Hopefully Dewberry had the sense to run back to her companions rather than just sit there and let the big buck rip into her.

Dove looked up from her patch of grass, eyes wide and alert this had to be at least the third her meal had been disturbed with shouting and panicked voices. She shook the light rain off her fur, she felt cold and she wasn't so sure it was just the weather. Something was up she had known that for awhile now, however she was raised to be a respectful rabbit and this matter clearly did not involve her...or did it?

"It seems an awful lot of the warren is upset..."
she commented softly to herself, she had no friends in this warren, she was too shy and timid to make any but she could still recognize her fellow warren's voices. Her ears and eyes were more alert now,

"perhaps I should find out what's going on." After all she'd never heard so many of the warren together at once before. Making her way over was not hard, she merely followed the angry voices that led her there.

A strange and putrid scent floating in the air hit her nose making it twitch, By Frith what is that smell? She stopped a few feet away from Cocklebur and a doe she wasn't familiar with. With mild interest she sat up on her haunches to watch.

The worst mistake Dewberry had ever made just happened now. She didn't move a single muscle, not even blink! The thick-headed pfeffa colored rabbit had never for one moment in her life ever even smelt what it was to be in true danger, and so didn't recognize this big dark buck lunging for her as one of them.

There was a streak of pain across her face, suddenly turning her whole amount of vision a thick red as the other hit her dead on in the eyes, tearing those deadly claws down her white face, two of her most important sences had been taken in one shot. Her wounded eyes now unable to see, and her nose filled with blood. Only now did the message hit her loud and clear. She was in grave danger.

But something clouded her decisions much more than the fact she could die at any moment in the moments before Cocklebur's next strike. He had ruined her perfect, beautiful face. The blood would be staining her fur, she would never be able to see how handsome the buck who finally wooed her over would be. It sparked a new rage within the small doe, and she lunged back, beserked by such an attack on her. If she was truly diseased, she'll leave a lasting mark on the other, just a small scratch or bite on the owsla and he would have it too, doomed to be treated like her other warren-mates.

This new goal was what drove her on, dispite the rain of claws that tore into her shoulder and ears, removing her of what beautiful grace she may of once had.

Bracken could only watch in horror as the fight ensued. That fool doe was actually trying to fight back! Did she really want to die so badly? She was no match for the big brute that was the warren's Captain of Owsla. Oh Frith, what had he brought upon them? He surely hadn't forseen such foolishness on either of their parts! The chief shook his head, grimacing as he watched the scene. "Stay back!" he barked at any rabbit that tried to get too close or intervene, authority ringing clear in the chief's voice. He would not have any more rabbits risking themselves be it for the doe or Cocklebur's sake.

If Cocklebur was at the moment aware of the danger he was putting himself in, he certainly didn't seem to care. Dewberry's dainty claws managed to scratch at him, and she drew some blood but the marks were not deep enough to leave scars. He however viciously tore into the little doe as he mauled her. This would likely continue until she backed down or was dead.

Bracken's regret only deepened as things ensued, but he knew full well that nothing he could say would stop the captain. Putting himself in there would only result in his own injury and possibly infection. He couldn't put himself at risk now that Cocklebur had. Besides, the doe had gone against his wishes and it was her own foolishness that brought his upon her.

Bramblebur sighed when no one reported her as being with them, his erect ears promptly dropping to his back. Dewberry had disobeyed him, yet again. Knowing her, the doe was sure to have gotten herself into some trouble or other.

"I'll have to get see where she wandered off to then. I must deal with her."

The buck gave a half smile. "I don't think denied. Perhaps handed out sparringly, sure. But, completely denied, no." He sighed. "Wish me luck."

He turned and went off in search of the wayward Dewberry, silently praying that she wouldn't call the wrath of the whole warren down on their heads. Bramblebur knew very well how wordy their little princess could be and, knowing her, she had probably found her way to some of the local bucks to find a paramore of some sort.

Little did he know of the sort of danger that Dewberry was getting in to. He knew not of the ensuing fight between her and none other than the brute Cocklebur.
