We got stuck with Mamma Mia. FML.
I transfered schools this year, so last year I did a Broadway theme, but the school I'm at now did Wicked.
I want to do a Latin themed show though!

THis will be my 3rd year in marching band every year the shows get more and more stupid and eaiser also. This show is going to be called, EXPLORE and its about, get this, exploring and at the end the guard find some kind of treasure. THe thing that really doesnt make sense to anyone is that it is a brass and mallet feature, when we have 1 good mallet player and our woodwind section is twice the size of the band. So that being said the woodwind part is the same underlying repeative music, the whole 7 minute show is pretty much the same thing. And coming from someone that is part clarinet and part drumline the drumline part however has some cool features but it also goes really slow. The fastest tempo is 170 so our band might get up to 150 if we are lucky. I am not looking forward to this year at all.

The Laws of Motion, by John M. Meehan.
The numbers are called Inertia, Force, and Action vs. Reaction.
It's so cool, and pretty easy too.
And the drill for Inertia (which is what we're setting now) is so easy, but the tubas are so lucky, because they stay still for 11 sets, then move one set, then stay still almost the rest of the number, and there are 34 sets.

Ohyeahohyeahohyeah! I just remembered some stuff about our show...partly because one of our drum majors was talking about it at a fundraiser today. >_>
Anyway, it just deals with what the movements of our show represent. The opener is Pearl Harbor, part 2 is just pop culture stuff (including Video Killed The Radio Star, Don't Stop Believin', and Money For Nothing), the ballad represents the AIDS epidemic (I wish we were playing something from Rent, but that wasn't made in the 80's...). We don't have part 4 yet, but it's more pop culture, and the closer is the Berlin Wall and stuff. It's coooool. :]

Our director actually wrote our show 'Strait of Gibraltar.' It's pretty awesome. We're getting drill on Monday. mrgreen I'm excited.

our 2009 show is called 'superheroes'
it's pretty easy in comparison to the other shows we have done it past years, but nevertheless - it's pretty cool!

drill is being written by them and our music is being composed for us..
last year we did guitar hero.....our color guard were groupies it was really funny case i got a pimp pic with most of them (they crowded around a lot of us)

This year we are performing The Phantom of the Piano Studio. It's a fun show. I was so pumped when I got the piccolo part, because it was easy to memorize. Then I found out I was being put on mallets and accessories. Those parts are challenging, but they're soooooo much fun to play. I cannot wait for this show to go on the field!
