"Who said I was following you?!" Leif replied while glaring at his sister. His heart beat slowed though and he felt himself relaxing. So it had just been Mersi after all.
Bending down, Leif started to collect the scattered flowers. "I just happened to be getting some flowers thank you very much, sister." His ears pressed down against his skull, "Is there something wrong with that?"

"Well, gee, I say I'm getting flowers, then you sneak after me instead of just saying you'd like to come. That seems like a hint." Mersi crossed her arms. "Of course there is! Since when do you like collecting flowers?"

"Well maybe I didn't know that I wanted to come until you had already left!" Replied Leif in his defense. "And...and I happen to like flowers." His tailed flicked behind him as he started to sort through the flowery mess. "Maybe I just wanted some time with my sibling too, okay?"

Mersi watched Leif closely. She didn't believe him. He must be hiding something. She should have waited before jumping up...
"And what is it you wish to do?" She asked placidly, trying to relax. Grilling him obviously would get her no where.

Leif silently breathed in relief as he smiled at his sister, "Umm...whatever you want to do really. I just planned to tag along with you today. Unless you didn't want me to?" He didn't know whether to hope for a yes or no. But this had been his excuse so he knew better than to try to change from it, unless he wanted Mersi to get suspicious. And that was definitely a no on his list.

Mersi shrugged. "I came to pick flowers for the kitchen. Just like I said I was going to do." She looked back the way they had come. She'd wanted to stop at her tree too... But she couldn't do that now.
"Why should I care if you tag along. I'm not hiding anything." She said, a small emphasis on "I'm" and looking directly at Leif before letting her gaze float away. She wouldn't let it go easily.

"Okay then!" Leif laughed as he held out the flowers he had managed to save from the ground, "I already started on getting them together!"
His ears fell though as he looked innocently at Mersi, "I'm sorry that I hid something from you." He sighed and looked at the flowers in his hands, "But it's just that having a like for flowers is odd for any guy. Of course I wasn't going to openly tell you!"

"Right." She said as she walked over to him, ruffling his hair and taking the salvaged flowers.
"It does look like it'll be a nice bouquet." She admitted. As she spoke, her eyes constantly flitted around the field. Was there something already here he had come for that she might find? Something that would tell her what he was up to.

"Of course." Replied Leif with a nod before standing, "What else should we gather for the house?" He asked looking around the field, "The wild roses by the stream are nice." Innocently Leif took hold of Mersi's hand and gave a small tug, "This way!"

Mersi followed after him. "Roses are always nice to have. I'd like some for my room." She bent by the roses, carefully plucking a few thorns from one flower before twisting the stem and snapping it off. She held it up to her nose and sniffed, tail twitching. "Here. It is nice." She held it up for Leif to smell too.

"They are nice." Replied Leif softly as he turned a rose in his hand. He didn't grasp it tightly though because of the threat of the thorns. A finger poked against one, it's sharp point pricking his skin drawing a small drop of blood.
Snapping back to attention, Leif looked up at Mersi and grinned sheepishly. "I can smell them with their sweet smells already over the whole field." His ears twitched with laughter, "I don't want to sneeze all over the rose."

Mersi frowned at Leif's hand, gently pulling his rose away from him and taking the bloodied finger in her grasp, pincing the wound. "I'm surpised you could smell it." She said softly, standing up with Leif in one hand and the batch of flowers in the other.
"Come on. Lets get that cleaned up. The river is close, right?"

"It's a great talent." Replied Leif with a small grin. His eyes widened though with surprise at Mersi's reaction, "To the stream? But...but it's nothing really." His tail swished against the ground as he looked at Mersi, thoughtfully. 'I don't think I left anything around there.' Finally Leif gave a reluctant nod, "Alright, if it makes you happy. Still it's not like a major wound."

"I'd still like it cleaned." She said softly still, heading with him to the river. She had sworn to herself long ago that she would watch out for her family. She wasn't going to let a rose thorn make her a liar.

"Yes mother." Leif flashed a teasing smile to his sister as he followed. His tail twitched in mild amusement. What would Mersi do if she saw how he had been directly before lunch or whenever he was out for several days 'traveling' to market with his dad? Or when he stayed over and 'visited' with Xennek.
Leif's mind settled, there was definitely no way he'd let Mersi realize how hard he was secretly training and working. 'They'd freak to see me covered in blood.' He bit his lip remembering the cruel time he had actually tried picking his first fight.
