"are you okay now?"
"yes, go... hurry!"
*phey turned around to catch one of the smaller dragons coming right toward her, it took a breath and sharp, cold air shot from it's nostrils. Phey tried quickly to take aim but realized that her left arm, the arm holding the gun, was frozen solid. the dragon was coming in for the kill; phey instinctively shielded with her right arm and closed her eyes. suddenly, a barrage of small fireballs shot from the amulet embedded in her right palm, each one hitting the dragon. the creature's icy flesh immediatly started to melt in spots the fireballs hit and it fell dead at Phey's feet. she stood starring at it shocked and scared out of her wits*
*whispering to herself* "wha... what happened?... how?.."
"i saved you this time..... we're lucky that this dragon was small... and of ice element.... now let me rest..."
*phey arm thawed out within seconds of the dragon's death. she looked ahead to see Daewyn knocked down and slowly getting up, and a dragon readying to smash her with it's enormous tail. Phey started running to her.*
"DAEWYN! MOVE!!"
There were so many dragons it was hard to see where everyone was. The fire dragon was breathing fire everywhere. Shao knew it was his job to take it on. He had to neutralize it with his water attacks. He throws some ninja stars at the dragon and they turn into water upon impact
"Damn, not again.."
The dragone turns it attention to Shao and shoots a huge flame towards him. Shao lets out a shout and forms a shield of water in front of him right before the flames hit him. But the fire broke through easily and hit him with full contact. Shao fell to the ground, in great pain.
'How the hell am I supposed to stand a chance when all I can do it give the dragons a bath? Everyone else seems to be controlling their powers effectively enough to do damage, but I can't do anything at all!'
'You are not looking deep enough, young one. You are the bearer of water. You wonder about many things, but do not experiment with them.
'What do you mean?'
'Is there only one form of water, also known as H2O?'
The dragon is gathering another breath of fire towards Shao. The others are all occupied and take no notice. It shoots out a flame even bigger than before. It screams past Shu, and he notices Shao is in the way of the path.
"NO!" Shu shouts.
'water...H2O....that's it!'
Just before the flame shoots up Shao gets up, waves his right hand rapidly in the air and screams, "Blizzard!!"
A huge wall of Ice shields Shao from the inferno as Shao stands on both feet. The flames end and the ice is all melt, but Shao falls back onto the ground. He has no more strength.
Daewyn's head snapped up at Phey's cry, but she couldn't get out of the way quick enough. She closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact...that never came. Daewyn could feel herself falling backwards through a sluggish medium, like sand.
Tera, where am I?
You are inside the earth child. I opened the rocks to save you, now swim forward, like you would in water, and you will emerge safely.
Alright.
Daewyn did as she was told and soon emerged next to Phey.
"Are you alright Phey?"
It's done...
Naoko finally cuts herself free from her element, revealing her position to the dragon. Her eyes glow a crimson red, taking in the spell's power.
What is this?!? the dragon exclaims.
"Thank you for waiting so long," Naoko replies in a sarcastic tone and charges forward.
"LOTUS MIES!"
Using the Void to her advantage, she strikes down into its surface, causing the Void around her to break like glass. The dragon, with wide eyes, coils back in pain. The crystal around her katana circles around the dragon, piercing its thick hide until they reach the core, the soul of the dragon.
This can't be!! the dragon roars, vainly trying to take a swipe at Naoko's fading form. Its scream echoes in the Void before its eventually swallowed by the Void and disappears into oblivion.
Naoko lets the Void disappear and reappears towards the others, still kneeling, eyes still closed, and still floating above the fallen ruins of her town's temple. The ghosts have disappeared.

*phey looked around confused as some of the dragons disappeared in puffs of smoke, and other melted into shadows of nothing. she looked down to see daewyn rise from the earth.*
"how did you? ... where did... what... the hell just happened?"
*she looked up to see Naoko hovering above*
"Naoko? ... now i am seriously lost..."
As Baikasu readies himself for his final defeat, the dragon who was advancing upon him suddenly went "POP" and blinked out of existance. He looks up.
"What the hell? Naoko, did you do that? Damnit, I wasted some bullets!" He says, in a joking tone." Hey, is everyone allright?"
Naoko opens her eyes at the sound of Baikasu's voice.
"It worked?" she whispers to herself.
She looks around to see that everyone seems to be okay, and her float spell had lasted.
"Is everyone alright?" she asks, sheathing back her katana which has returned to its original form.
Daewyn picked herself up off the ground and looked around in confusion, still not comprehending what had just happened.
The dragons were ghosts child Tera informed her. The danger has passed, for now. I am tired now, so let me rest a while.
The vines surrounding Daewyn retreated back into the amulet, which stopped glowing.
Thanks Tera.. Daewyn responded, more serious than was usual for the hyper girl.
Shao remains on the ground, too much in pain to move.
'These dragons weren't real, but they can still cause damage?..'
Shao drinks the last of his potions and gets up.
"Mmm..." Shao gets the attention from everyone, "Just for future reference, does anyone know any cure spells?"
Daewyn felt Tera begin to glow faintly in response to Shao's question. "Umm...I think Tera's trying to tell me that she has the power of healing. So, uh, does anyone need healed?"
I don't need healing now, because I've just used all my potions...but I just think the group should know so we know who's the most important to turn to...and protect.
"I know some cure spells," Naoko replies, brushing back a stray lock of hair. "I'm sorry everyone for just bailing out on that...it's more of a personal reason to get the dragon by itself. But beware, though, there's still more roaming about."
"Anyway," she continues, "it's still a ways off to get to the core of this temple, so do you want to rest for a while?"
"Yeah. I think we should rest for a little while. Maybe eat something. One sec." Baikasu reaches into his jacket and takes out ten small packages, then with the other hand takes out a flask of some liquid. He then asks, "Anyyone hungry?"
Shuu got up from the ground, but was so deep in thought that he didn't even notice the dragons suddenly blinking out of existence. All he could think about was one thing: Why didn't the dragons try and attack me...?I was the only one who was NOT in danger...
Naoko whispers a spell of teleportation to guide the others to a safe haven. They all reappear again in a blue room, literally. The walls shimmer a crystalline blue, its ceiling so high that one would think that it was never ending. No other colors seemed to be around, and there were no insignias of the Melbane language anywhere as well.
"I guess we can stay here for a while...as soon as dawn comes, the ghosts of my town will disappear," Naoko says before sitting down in a corner for a much needed sleep.
Daewyn looks around her in amazement. "This room, it's so beautiful!" She runs her fingers lightly along the walls as she walks slowly around. After a while she sits down and begins going through her bag, a grin on her face. She lifts one of the jewels she managed to "liberate" from one of the dragons whilst distracting it. Placing it carefully to the side, she does a quick check of her inventory, then reorders things in her bag for easy retrieval in midst of battle. After all this is done she pulls out a light blanket and falls quickly to sleep, arms instinctively curled around her bag.
Shuu eventually realized that the dragons were gone, and started to check on everyone, before he had this strange feeling, like something was drwing him closer...He turned around in the direction that he felt compelled to go to. At first, Shuu wasn't sure what to do. Eventually, though, he couldn't help moving in the direction that he was being 'pulled' to...

"Hey Shu, where are you going?"
Shao asked, but he seemed to be ignored. Shu continues walking off. Shao considered whether to follow him or not, but if he did not respond, he probably had a reason to be alone.
Shao continues to examine the room.
"Guess nobody's hungry. Oh, well." He returns all but one package to his jacket, then opens it and eats it. "Ahh, much better." He then takes off his jacket and drops it on the ground, Thus making the jacket make a very a loud THUD sound. Then he takes out his pistol, get's into a defensive possition, and falls asleep.
*the little light reflecting off the walls was causing minor pain in Phey's left eye . She closed her eyes , took off her eyepatch, and put her hand over where her eye once was. she was still for a moment until the pain was gone and put her patch back on. She heard a loud 'THUD' and quickly looked up to see Shu leaving.*
*thinking to herself* "where's Shu going? ... does no one else notice? ... it's not safe to be alone here .... i..i guess i should follow... yeah..."
*phey starts to closely follow Shu, trying to remain quiet and unseen*
Shuichi unconsciously continued walking in the direction he was going. He couldn't escape the strange pulling trance, and was oblivious to all else. He didn't even notice his name being called from behind him, for he also heard it being called in front of him...
Naoko opens her eyes to see Shuu begin to exit the room. She considers on going after him, but her mother reassures her,
The songs must be pulling him in. There's no need to worry; this room extends to the next, which is sealed off by the dragons.
Gee...what a comforting thought, Naoko mentally replies back before closing her eyes again.
Baikasu mumbles in his sleep, No.. run, get out of here...... damnit! Noooo...
zzzZZZzZzzZzzzzzzzZZzZZZZZZzzzZzzzZZzzZZzZzzZzZzzZZZzzZZzzzZZZzz
ZZzZzzzzzZZzzZZZZZZZzZzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZzzZzZZZzZZZZZZZZZ...
The voices of singing from afar makes Naoko open her eyes. The singing annoys her; it sounds too light-hearted, too joyous to be a Melbane song. Noticing that Shuu has not yet returned, she gets up and exits the room in search for him.
Shu kept walking, on and on, in a seemingly endless winding 'hallway'. By this time, he had absolutley no control over any of his movements, or even his thoughts. Both were blank, almost robotic, and just had one notion: WALK. However, this changed when he 'noticed' a sound from behind him. Someone was following him, and though he wouldn't have noticed normally, he did now. He turned around, both guns drawn, with a blank, empty expression. Shuichi waited for a moment, looking around and making sure that there was no one there, before turning back around and continuing on into the approaching room...(All of this was done quite mechanically, as he was showing no expression.)

Naoko looks through the hallway to see Shuu's figure not far from where they were at. Good, he didn't go far...but where is he going? She begins to follow him and has made quite a distance between themselves, but she stops as soon as he turns around with his weapons poised to fire.
Quickly, Naoko summons the Void and melts into the floor. Something's wrong...
The song that she had heard in the glass room is now stronger than before.
Be careful of his actions her mother whispers to her.
Finally, Shuu came to a room: the room that the 'singing' was coming from. In the room, there was a large pedestal. There was probably something on the pedestal, since he was moving toward it. However, before reaching the altar, he turned around, positive now that something or someone was behind him. WhErE....WhErE aRe YoU...? Shuichi said calmly, guns cocked, in an almost demonic sounding voice. He looked around, as if actually looking for whatever was following him. Then, he looked back down the hall, and slightly down at the floor. CoMe...OuT...Or ElSe I'lL fInD yOu...ThE hArD wAy... And with that, he put the guns away, created a dark energy from his hand and targeted a section of the floor that was quite a distance away, though still visible. With that, he raised his hand slowly, and pulled Naoko from the floor...
Naoko's eyes glowed red to counter the spell, cursing in her own tongue as she is pulled from the floor.
"Shuu..." she says, noticing the distant look in his eyes. She closes her own, letting the Void surround them, and listens to the song.
The altar...
She opens her eyes again, and before Shuu could fire, she vanishes only to pin Shuu to the ground, glaring at his eyes.
"Damn you, brother..." she says, avoiding the gun shots and aiming the gun in Shuu's hands as far away from the both of them as possible. She then lets herself sink into Shuu's body to find the demon that has taken control of them.
*phey clung to the wall outside the room and watched in horror and interest at what wa happening inside the "singing" room.*
*thinking to herself*".... i should get the others.... this just isn't right ... but what if something happens while i'm gone.... ? oh what should i do?"
*phey looked down at her amulet but no response came.*
"some help you are... argh"
*she decided to go, and ran down the hallway to get the others*
Shuu started screaming. He could suddenly feel everything. Even the two inside him. He was on his knees, twitching against his will, and screaming "AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?!?!?! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! GET OUT OF MEEEEEEEE~!!!!!!"
Finally, the two 'jumped' out. At first, Shuichi was on the ground, shivering, and forcing back tears. Eventually, though, he couldn't hold it back. He looked up in pain, at both Ayame and the stranger. As tears started coming, he stood up weakly, cocked his gun, aimed with a shaky hand at the stranger, and started muttering "kill...Kill....KILL....KILL!!!!!!!"
After seeing Phey, and then Naoko, walking out of the room, Shao begins to get suspicious. And somehow...Shao just does not feel safe with Rubicant here while Naoko is away.
Shao begins to get up and follow them.
No..don't go
He turns his head and sees Daewyn and Baikasu sleeping soundly, while Rubicant sits in the corner thinking to himself.
You may not be able to sleep, but there are others that need as much rest as they can get. You must watch over them
Shao sits back down and leans against the wall. There was complete silence for about 20 minutes until Phey comes dashing into the room.
*Gwyn directed CaranᲠdown to the Melbane Temple and landed just by the front gate*
Gwyn: So this is where the disturbance is happening.......... CaranᲬ wait here. I won't be long.....
*Gwyn strode into the temple, and focused on his amulet, trying to focus in on the intruders*
Gwyn: It's no good..... I can't sense them.... Where could they be.... I suppose the only thing I can do is wait until I can sense them with Kain....
*With this Gwyn leans on a wall*
Gwyn: Kain, do you think they are still here?
Kain: Yes, without a doubt. I can sense their trail... they are still here... just be patient and wait.
Gwyn: If you say so.... but I don't like the waiting.

The shadowy intruder noticed Shuu just in time to avoid the shots being fired. "I'll kill you...I'll KILL you!" Shu cried, in an almost insane way. He kept firing, and kept missing. Shaky hands weren't helping, either. "I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU!!!" Shu kept screaming, this time focusing his power into his guns, creating a black aura around one, and a white aura around the other. NO!!! Calm down, Shuichi! You mustn't use the extent of your power here! You will destroy this temple! You may as well have killed that dragon if you were going to destroy this place!
"NO!!!! I won't let this....this FREAK live for what he did to me!!!!" Shuu exclaimed, before muttering "Take over MY body, will you?! HA!! I'll show you!!!!!!" With that, Shu felt the gun charge become active, and started pulling the trigger, eyes filled with firey rage...
Shao hears a distant echo of a voice screaming. And just tne he feels like...his heart was sinking...that --is it even possible-- the force of gravity was getting stronger. For a second he could hardly gather himself to breathe. Everyone else quickly got up with their weapons drawn, very alert.
Shao asks Phey, "What's going on??"
Shuu, in sheer rage, was unconsciously distorting gravity and time by focusing so forcefully. His guns were at full charge, and prepared to fire, yet he couldn't force himself to pull the trigger. He was having too hard of a time controlling the newly awakened force inside of him...
Naoko is forced out of Shuu's body, sprawling to the floor and holding a piece of what she has taken from him. As Shuu screams in a fit of rage, she just stares at him calmly, almost too calmly. Slowly, she gets up, letting her eyes shift to the Void.
"Shuu..." she quietly says to him. A bullet fires, but it is easily avoided.
"You..you stay away from me!!" Shuu cries out with a crazed look in his eyes, firing his guns again. Again, they miss her, but Naoko begins to slowly walk towards him.
"Shuu, listen to me," Naoko replies, taking another step. Another bullet fires. This time, it slightly grazes her cheek but quickly heals.
"N-n-no..."
Calm down, she mentally advises him. He starts to look around in confusion at the voice in his head. Naoko continues to take another step closer, then another...
Let go... she whispers, now only an arms length away from him. The gravity coming from his newly awakened powers distorts the room, but Naoko doesn't bother with the trivial detail. She outstreches a hand towards him.
Let go... she continues to mentally say to him. Now Shuu realizes that Naoko is telepathically talking to him. His hands shake violently from the stress. Her hand is almost touching the gravitational power from his gun, but she doesn't address the slight tingle she feels on her fingertips, still continuing to look at him.
Nervousness and fear takes control over his emotions.
"S-STOP IT!!!" he screams and fires his weapons.
Naoko takes in the impact of the gravitational power, letting herself and the Void disappear into a dim light from above, leaving only a faint blue ribbon she had held up her hair with behind.
The altar shatters to pieces, and Shuu's eyes change back to normal.
"...Naoko...?"
*Phey, breathing hard, looks up a Shao and tries to explain what she saw without tripping over her words, but her excitment causes her to speak at a real hyper pace.*
"Shao... i followed Shu then i saw Naoko so i followed her too and then i saw them go into this singing room and then naoko went inside his body and he fell over and started twitching and it was so wild then i ran back here to get help and ... and ..... *speech slows down* ...... does the air feel heavier to you?...."
"AAAGGGH!!!"
Shuu was losing it. His control over his power was decreasing, and something deep inside of him had awakened. A burning, flaring power had formed, and he just couldn't figure out what it was. However, he stopped analyzing the current situation LONG ago. Now, he was functioning off of 'terrestrial' rage. This feeling... he thought, slowly. It feels like...like I've sprouted wings...
FLASH! The word 'Wings' had obviously triggered something, because Shuu suddenly saw images. Images of flying, soaring even. Images of...wings..."Wha.....what..is...this...?"b)FLASH!
Shu, coming back to the situation at hand somewhat, realized that he was losing consciousness. "Too..much..." He murmured, barely, "This...is...too.........mm..uch.....uuu..ggg..ghhhh" With that, the aura around him and his guns disappeared. Shuichi dropped his guns and fell to his hands and knees, seeing nothing but darkness as he fell, before finally blacking out and losing his remaining grip on reality...
And both Time and Gravity had returned to normal.

Wake up...
Naoko slowly opens her eyes.
Yeah, that's it...just take it slow...
As her vision begins to clear, Naoko finds herself in a very familiar surrounding. What? Where am I?She quickly gets up and turns around to face the gates of the Melbane temple. The temple...how did I get out?
"Hello, my dear sister," a familiar voice speaks. "Sleep well?"
Naoko sharply turns in the direction of the voice, eyes darting around cautiously.
"Oh, come now, I wouldn't harm you. You know that," the voice continues.
Naoko looks up to see Dante perched on top of a roof, smiling. Her eyes narrow suspiciously.
"Why did you take me out of there?" she demands.
Daewyn wakes to the sound of Phey's voice. Years of living on the street taught her to be a light sleeper and she gets up quickly now, fully awake. She straps her bag back around her waist and walks over to Phey and Shao.
"What's going on? Where is Shu, Phey? I didn't catch all of what you said." She looks around. "And where did Naoko go to?"
"Why? You know exactly why, sister," Dante replies, leaping off of the roof and softly landing back on the ground.
"They are going to die in there without Melbane present..." Naoko whispers softly.
Dante walks over to her and lifts up her chin. His own red eyes mirror hers.
"That is exactly my point. Don't get yourself involved with these...mortals too easily. One day, they will betray you. I just gave you a little boost," he says to her.
"Boost? Little boost?" Naoko repeats, anger (an emotion rarely seen in her) starting to rise. Her eyes begin to glow red again, shifting to dark orbs. "Why are you so against them? It's not just because they destroyed our village..."
"No, it's not, you're quite right," Dante replies, stepping casually away from her to take a look at the desolate village. "I want to see what the elders have said to us are true. The legend, sister. I want to see if those amulets really work."
"You don't believe the legends the elders told us..."
Before the conversation could go any further, the sky rattles like water as if disturbed. Dante again smiles.
"Looks like someone found the seal, again..." he comments sinisterly and disappears.
"Wait, Dante!"
But she is too late. All she can hope for is her comrades to survive the temple's ordeals...

*Gwyn rushes back outside the temple, having heard some voices. He walks in right before Dante dissapeared. He looks at Naoko with interest*
Kain: Gwyn, she bears one of the other amulets!!! That of the Void, if my senses serve me correctly
Gwyn: So mistress of the void.... I have finally found you. Tell me, why are you here in the Melbane Temple...
*Gwyn looks at her with piercing inquisitive eyes, searching her very soul*
*Phey looks to Daewyn*
"there's no time and i have a really bad feeling. we have to get back to Shu now!!"
*phey grabs both Daewyn and Shao's hand and darts into the hallway toward Shu. suddenly the temple starts to rumble a bit, then a little more. Phey slows down and releases Shao and Daewyn, and looks around the hall for the cause of the disturbance*
"what the....? what's going on...?"
Shao felt his heart back in the right place, after the huge rumble. It had seem that gravity was back to normal...but that might be the only thing that was back to normal...
Rubicant seemed to have caught up to the party.
They find Shu on the ground, unconsious.
"Oh no.." Phey says.
They dash toward him and he's down.
"He's alive, but just barely," Shao says, "be on guard, everyone. We do not know what happened to him. It could have been a monster."
It is no monster...
"What is it then? Where...where's Naoko??"
It is a test...
"A test? What test?"
...
"What test, dammit!!"
A test to see whether the prophecy is true. One by one, you will be tested to summon the amulet's strength. Shu was the first one to be tested.
"What kind of sick test is this?"
Why..do see if you are worthy of possessing the amulet.
"But I did not choose to have this! It was given to me! How will we know when our test will come?"
One by one, you will be isolated and the tests will begin
"Isolated?..."
Shao looks around at the group, who seem to have heard the same thing from their amulets...Phey seems worried, as does Daewyn. Rubicant is his usual expressionless self, and Baikasu...
"BAIKASU!! She's not here! You left him alone there, Rubicant!"
Rubicant just shows a blank stare at Shao.
Daewyn looks blankly at nothing in particular, apparantly stunned by what she had just heard.
Are you going to test me too Tera?
Of course child, I must test you. There is no other way.
As the others run to help Baikasu, Daewyn somehow gets left behind. As soon as the others are out of sight the floor gives way underneath Daewyn's feet. Soon she is buried in the earth like before, except this time she cannot move. She cannot even move enough to scream, or even breathe. Flares go off in her mind, screaming desperatly on the inside.
Tera!!! Don't let me die!!
A tear manages to find it's way out of her closed eye and moisten the stone around it.
Calm yourself child. That's all the help I can give you. You must master the power before you can fully use it. You can do it, just believe.
Naoko eyes Gywn suspicously, her eyes reverting back to its typical crimson. Her brother's laughter still echoes in her mind.
"I think you can see why," Naoko softly replies, matching Gwyn's gaze, letting her eyes glow. "Red eyes are the only trait that one can tell between a normal person and a Melbane."
The seal, the seal... her mother whispers to her.
"How did you break the seal? This town was sealed off by the elders' powers to keep outsiders away...or were you able to find the stone like how those excavators did?" she asks him.

*as the three run back toward Baikasu, Phey stops and looks back noticing that Daewyn has disappeared...*
"oh great... DAEWYN! DAEWYN! WHERE ARE YOU!?"
*Phey walks back to Shu and shakes him to try and wake him up, but nothing happens. she walks out the room again and calls out to Daewyn once more. by now she realizes that Shao and Rubicant have left her behind. she runs and tries to catch up with them.*
"HEY GUYS! WAIT FO...!!"
*the room with crystalline blue walls was no longer there. it was now replaced with 2 halls going in opposite directions.*
"what the..? what is going on? where is everyone?!"
"i hope you're ready....Pharoah Phey.... don't forget how..."
"what? ready for what? forget? ... what the hell are you talking about!?"
"hell.... indeed..."
*Phey's heart starts to race. suddenly she hears a giggle in the hallway to her right... it sounds like Daewyn. Phey follows the giggles to a red room. she cautiously walks inside this ordinary cube room with red walls. *
"Daewyn?"
*the door to the room slams shut and room goes pitch black!*
"oh my god...."
"Sh*t! Nooo, this is bad!"
Shao wants to turn back and chase Phey, but Baikasu has been left alone for too long, and he knows he can't rely on Rubicant to do anything good. When they reach the room Baikasu was gone...
"Damn, it's too late. This is not good."
Shao looks over at Rubicant, who just seems unmoved by any of this. Shao breathes deeply and says,
"Look, I'd hate to say it, but we should stick together as best we can. Let's go back and see how the others are first, then we'll all go look for Baikasu, ok?"
"Whatever.." yawns Rubicant.
They both start running back into the hallway, only to notice that it was now blocked off. All Shao could hear was the faint screams and yells of a girl.
"I can't see a thing... i need light..."
"and it starts..."
"what...?"
*Phey takes a deep breath, but an odd smell comes to her. It's been so long since she smelled this horrible scent... it comes to her quickly as her amulet begins to light a flame to brighten the room...*
"it's ... IT'S GAS!! NO STOP!"
*it was too late, the entire room was filled with fire. Phey screams in shock and runs to the door, but it seems like the walls had disappeared and now she was in an endless plain of fire.*
"oh god where is it?! where's the door!? please help me..."
"you're on your own... but don't forget...."
*she falls onto her hands and knees as the fire burns her clothes and belongings. boiling tears pour from her eyes.*
"What are you talking about?!! Forget?!!"
"fire... is your... ally.... it's hot... but are you really burning?..."
*phey adjusted her eyes to the light of the fire and looked down at her hands. they were glowing red with the intense pain and heat, but appeared just fine amongst the flames.*
"what?... "
"do you understand yet?"
Darkness...that was all that was left...Darkness. What....what happened...to me...? Shuu 'thought'.
Shuichi... a far-away voice said, You failed the test.
A TEST?! What test? What are you talking about, Auubi? I'm not getting this...
You failed the test of your worth, Shuichi...A test to prove that you are capable of wielding my powers...
Shuichi just stayed 'silent' for a moment, unsure of what Auubi was talking about...
However... Auubi continued, You did not fail because of incapability. Your failure was not your fault at all, because you were disturbed. By attempting this test, you awakened a new power within yourself, and you passed out from the shock, which interrupted you in the process of taking the test. Now you must learn to control that newfound power to take the test again, as I will accept no more interruptions...
Auubi......what are you talking about...? What new power...?
Nevermind for now. You will understand later. For right now, though, you must help your friends. Therefore, you need to WAKE UP!
With that, Shuu suddenly jolted awake. He sat up, in a sort of daze, and looked around to see if anyone was still there. "Hmph, looks like they left me behind," Shu said jokingly. However, that was when he heard the distant screaming...
"We've got to hurry back quick! She's going to be tested!"

Daewyn tried her hardest to calm down. Ok Daewyn, you've survived for years on your own, you can do this. Tera is right, I have to think this one through. Ok, if this is a test to see if I can master Tera's power, and Tera thinks I can do it, I can. The question is how.
Daewyn thought hard, but nothing was coming to mind. Not being able to move was starting to get the teen worked up, but she managed somehow to calm down a little, and it was then that she realized she could breathe, even though she couldn't move.
Alrighty then, through Tera's power I can survive underground, I just have to control it. I was able to swim through it before, so let's try that.
She tried to move her arms and legs, but they still wouldn't budge. Ah!! This isn't working!! What am I doing wrong?!?! What if I'm stuck down here forever? I can still breathe, so I wouldn't suffocate. I suppose I will starve to death if I can't do it...No! I need to stop thinking like that, it isn't helping. Tera got me safely through before, but she won't help now.
That was when the answer occurred to her. I have to command the amulet. Tera always did all the work before, but now I have to. Daewyn tried to move again, but this time she focused on her amulet instead of her limbs. After a while the rock around her began to feel sluggish. She could move her fingers and toes. Soon the rock felt more like wet sand, and she found she could swim through it like she had before. She reached the surface quickly and emerged unharmed, then to test how much control she had gained, she focused on the amulet's power again, this time resulting in the tough vine armour she had used before. She focused playfully on the ends of the vines, and she found she could move them at will, wrapping them around her fingers. She grinned, then collapsed to the floor in exhaustion. "I...I did it..." she murmered, barely awake.
Yes child, you did it, Tera replied, sleep now, I will watch over you. You deserve this rest
"Thank you Tera..." she responded, falling quickly asleep.
"Dammit, what are we going to do now??"
Rubicant turns around and walks casually back down the opposite direction of the hall.
"Why the hell are you so calm now!? I can't take it anymore, you must be a traitor!"
Shao could not hold his rage any longer, he dashes up to Rubicant and punches him directly on the back...
...however what seemed to be the body of Rubicant turns into a body of water, and splashes onto the ground.
"What the hell?" Shao shouts out. "What's going on?"
There was no time to think about that. He had to find Baikasu. Shao started to run. He stepped on the puddle of water that is now on the ground, but instead of running over it, he fell through it.
He falls and falls deeper down the water, not being able to breathe. Shao looks down and sees nothing but darkness. Struggling for his life, he tries to swim upwads, but now the surface does not seem reachable. No matter how hard he tried he did not seem to be floating back up.
'Please...amulet...please help me. What is going on?
...no answer from the amulet.
Shao tried as hard as he could to think...it was very hard to think; he could not even breathe.
'Think...think...what was the last thing the amulet said...
...the test! Is this my test? So that was not the real Rubicant afterall, and I was actually isolated from everyone else too....What am i supposed to do?...UGH, I am running out of time! Water....yes that's it...I hold the element of water. I must find some way to manipulate it..'
Shao uses all his last ounces of energy to concentrate. He need to move the water. He sees his amulet begin to glow, and he knows that this is his only chance. He moves his hands in a spherical motion and a bubble begins to form in front of him. He turns it faster and faster, and the bubble grows larger and larger. He finally makes the bubble as big as he is and he jumps in right as he lets go of this breath.
*COUGH COUGH*
Shao, with his eyes closed, spits out all the water he can from his lungs. When he finally reopens his eyes, he sees that he is back in the hallway. A humoungous frog in fornt of him, only this frog consist entirely of water.
I am Chao, the Water God. I am the one that speaks to you from your amulet. You have passed your test, and here is your reward.
The frog jumps towards Shao and seeps into his body. Shao feels a dizzy sensation inside him.
'What did you do to me?'
It is a gift from me....When the time comes, you will see.

"fire... is my ally... i get it."
*with this in mind, Phey stands up. though the fire was causing a lot of pain for her, she put it in the back of her thoughts cuz she knew it wasn't really causing her any damage. she casually walks foward to where the door use to be and grabs a doorknob.*
*sigh* "finally..."
*the door was back. she turns the knob and opens the door. upon doing this, the fires immediatly puts itself out leaving the room as it's original state.*
"well done Pharoah Phey.... you pass... now you must leave this hallway..."
*phey couches down*
"i can't"
"why is that?"
"the fire in there burnt all my stuff... my clothes are a pile ashes in that room's floor.... even my gun melted! .... i can't go out there... naked...!!"
"....well this hallway is going to close up... with you in it or not..."
*with that said, the wall behind Phey started moving forward and the walls to her side moved inward. She got up on all fours and started running out. she was right outside the blue crystalline room when the hallway behind her disappeared with a Thud! phey sat down against the wall and hugged her knees up to her chest.*
"i can hear you laughing at me amulet ..."
"*snicker* .... well you don't need me anymore... but i'll be here if you ever do..."
*phey's empty eye socket started to tingle. she pulled off her eye patch and realized that she can see. also the amulet burned into her right palm popped out.*
"whoa... thank you..."
"Okaaaaaay, so I need to master this inner ability to re-take the test and master the Rift powers..." Shuu said to himself, "Can I still use the powers, though, Auubi?"
...Yes... Anuubi said.
"Okay, then maybe I should jump back in time a bit to find out just what happened. That way, I can find the others, right?"
...Yes...
Shu noticed something different, though. Auubi sounded...different. "Auubi? Are you okay?"
...Just weakened...Don't worry about it...
"Ummmm.....okay...well, let's do this then!"
With that, Shuu altered time and went back. He saw everything that happened, from his being possesed to everyone splitting up in all different directions. However, he noticed that everyone had to undergo a test as well. He decided to go to the one closest to him, which happened to be Phey. However, once he came back to the normal time, he realized that Auubi wasn't doing that well. "Auubi...?"
...Forgive me, Shuichi, but I am losing power. My remaining power...may not be enough...for me to continue...
"WHAT?!?! But I thought that amulets are eternal, and couldn't lose their powers!!!"
Normally, yes. However, the extent of my power was used to maintain you when you found your inner power, and then to keep you from firing your most powerful charge, and then to communicate with you when you were unconscious, not to mention that last time jump...Amulets must rest after a certain extent, otherwise drastic things may happen. I have over-used both the powers of Time and Gravity, though, and now I am paying for it. The only way to maintain my power in this amulet is to return to my temple, but that is obviously impossible at this point...
"NO!!!" Shu cried, disturbed by the thought of losing Auubi. "Isn't there anything, ANYTHING I can do?!"
Well, there IS a way...
Gwyn: I don't know..... My amulet simply told me to go in, and I did. I was not stopped by any seal. But I thought all the Melbane's were dead..... How did you survive?
*Gwyn began to ease up, sensing that she was no enemy*

Shuu was rushing toward the nearest exit, in hope of finding the forest outside again. Guided by Auubi, of course. "So, you're saying that the only way you can maintain your powers at this point is to fuse with a living creature, right?
Yes. Carbon-based life forms have much more energ, and can sustain it as well. Therefore, all you need to find is a 'living creature' and fuse the amulet with it, and I should be perfectly fine.
"Huh? What do you mean, 'fuse' it with a living creature? How do I do that?"
...Nevermind. Just find a life form soon, or else the powers of Time and Gravity will be lost forever.
Shuu finally came to an exit, sighed with relief, and ran outside. He hastily looked around in some hope of finding some sort of life....that wasn't a bug. Just as he began to feel Auubi's energy slip away, Shuu noticed the one thing that could save Auubi...
Naoko searches Gwyns eyes...and sensing the truth, turns away. "Not all of the Melbane were massacred; some survived. My mother was able to hide my brother and I before she was killed."
"Your brother? You mean that guy who just disappeared?" Gwyn asks her.
Naoko nods, "I guess your amulet must have a piece of the stone used to break the seal...every time the seal opens, it reseals itself once again from the outside world. I can sense something...very odd about it."
The piercing screams and cries for help begin to circle around the two as night begins to fall.
"It's been a day..." she whispers in a voice so soft that only she could hear. I hope they'll make it through...can I go back in again?
No, child, unfortunately. Once one leaves the temple, the entrance changes, shifts so that one cannot enter it again. Only the elders and the masters of elements could decipher its secrets, her mother answers her.
But I'm a master of element, am I?
You're too young to know of the temple's secrets...I cannot help you on them.
"We should go into one of the houses," she tells Gwyn. "The ghosts are beginning to come back now. It's too dangerous to be outside when they are 'alive' and awake."
"Wait, what about your friends?" Gwyn asks, following her.
Naoko pauses only to slightly turn her head back at him.
"I can't go back in," she whispers painfully. "They'll have to make it out themselves...and trusting the amulets that they possess."
Shao takes a brief moment to absorb exactly what happened to him the past half hour. He finally gathers himself.
'Well the test is finally over, now I'm all qualified, right?
.......
'Uh....right?'
This is your first temple you've ever been in, correct?
'Yeah...but what does that have to do...you mean there are more tests?'
Of course, each temple will choose their method to decide whether the amulet holders are worthy of knowing the temple's secrets. However, this temple's test is an individual test. There will be cases where you are required to work together with a group of people to pass.
'Oh boy...I am already seeing horrible images of what's to come.'
Just then the temple lets of a gigantic rumble. Shao sets off to find the others. They need to get out soon.
Daewyn wakes up totally rested. She looks around and, not knowing where she is, she randomly picks a direction and starts walking. After a while she feels a rumble under her feet, and the next moment Shao comes around the corner with a panicked look on his face.
"Shao? What's going on? Have you seen Phey and the others?"
"A...coyote?"
Shuu stared at the sleeping coyote strangely. "Since when did coyotes come here...? That doesn't seem right at all."
It....doesn't....seem....to be......normal.....h.u.r.r...y. Fu...se the....amulet...
"Alright." With that, he walked up to it and put the amulet on it's head. With a bright flash, the amulet dropped to the ground and the coyote, now black-ish gray-ish (like marble), got up.
The amulet is useless right now, but you need to keep it so that I can return to it if I need to. For now, though, this coyote's body is fine.
"WHOA!!! Auubi, that's you? Okay, I understand."
Shuu picked up the amulet, when suddenly, there was a strange rumbling. As they both turned around, they saw the Temple. looking like it would collapse soon. "Oh no! We have to go back in there and save everyone!"
No, that will be futile. We don't even know if they are still in there in the first place. Besides, there is another force that may help them...
"Soooooo...what should we do?"
...
Well, I could locate them by their amulets, then tell you where they are.
"...Alright. But we need to hurry, so how long will it take?"
Don't worry. I've already found their general location. They are all still inside the Temple, except for one, the Void amulet. I'll give tell them to get out of there...
"Wait....you could do that? Whatever, either way, we need to be on the move, so I'll go in while you tell them that, okay?"
With that. Shuichi ran back into the Temple, hoping for the best...

Naoko and Gywn settle in a home nearby, but Naoko hasn't quite fallen asleep yet. She stares out the window, looking at the temple. It now looked like a large demon of some sort, looming over the temple's lands as if something had disturbed it.
There's still a way... a small voice inside of her keeps on repeating to her mind.
She sighs to herself, leaning against the pillar of the home before chanting a song in her mother tongue that she had learned from the elders when she was just a child...
Those who sleep in darkness will mourn for peace,
While those who chant this song will find eternity.
The temple's light will guard us all,
And this song will keep us safe.
Whisper the words: Identity, and you will find peace.
Whisper the words: Chaos, and you will find the sleep...

She continues to sing softly to herself, not knowing that the song's true powers were starting to awaken...
As Shuu ran through the halls, looking for everyone else, he realized something very strange. His forehead seemed to be giving off some sort of glow, so he touched his forehead. "WHAT THE....?! A crystal?!?!"
Oh yes, I almost forgot about that. Right now, it is simply a link between us, but it shall become much more useful later on...
"Ummm....right. Anyway, why is it glowing?"
IT is for the same reason that the crystal on the forehead of this coyote is glowing. You are looking for your friends, and it is guiding you in the right direction
"So, this crystal thingy is acting as a guide right now? Then it's already gained usefulness in my mind!"
Yes. However, that crystal will become MUCH more useful soon...
The two kept running until they heard distant voices. They continued running toward that direction, while Shuu shouted "HEY!!!! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?"
-What has happened so far-
Baikasu, a minute before Shao and the others reached the room he was in, he was suddenly grabbed through the wall by unsween hands and brought to the other side. He turned around, "What the hell? Where's everything? I can't see!" He gets his pistol ready. He hears a faint growl. He thinks to himself, I don't have to fight anything, do I? Then he sees a slight flicker of blue light. Then more.
...
After a few moments, the room is brightened to reveal a very very large, very very frightening Blue Lightning ********..... again." The dragon turns to look at him, then lifts it's head and fires a large bolt of energy at him. It hits. "RRRRRRAAAAGGH!!!!!!!!!!" The bolt ends, and Baikasu falls to the floor, in massive pain. "What kind of test is this? I can't fight this! My lightning will just be cancelled out, just like the last one!" He gets up, turns around, and notices that the wall was no more... it was just total darkness besides him and the dragon. He Reaches into his his jacket, takes out a flashbang grenade, throws it at the dragons head, then, while sheilding his eyes, starts to run around the dragon to the back.
This test is to see if you are worthy of possessing my powers. I suggest that you use them.
I know, but how am I supposed to do this?!
The flashbang went off, thus causing the dragon to not be able to hear or see him for a few seconds. He gets around back. The dragon recovers from the 'nade. It's searching for him.Good. It doesn't knoe where I am... but what do I do?

Thank you for your help... Wait! That's right! How could I forget? He puts his pistol away. "I won't be needing you this battle. I WILL need YOU though, Kasiko." He unsheaths his sword. "I hope you can cut through dragon hide." He runs up to the dragons tail, thrusts his sword into it's tal, and the dragon roars in pain as it turns around and finds Baikasu. Baikasu then grabs the blade so he won't get cut, and screams, "Come and get it!" He then focuses energy into Kasiko's blade, and waits.... The dragon then fires a very large bolt on Baikasu, while Baikasu then releases the energy he focused. RRRRROOOOOAAAARRRRR!!!
The dragon flails around in pain, then tries to bite Baikasu off of it's tail. Baikasu then thrusts his sword into the dragon's right eye, and he then sends a power surge through the sword. The dragon abruptly stops flailing around and the room startts to shake."s**t! Where's the exit?
What's happening now:
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM
The walls had returned to normal, but there was no exit. He had to put a lgrenade down and focus energy into it. It blew up when he was a little too close, so he has slight burn marks, but nothing major besides what the dragon had done to him. He then startteed to look around for everyone else. Hello? Anybody there? OW!" He hurt his leg during the battle.

Shuu had finally reached the voice. It was Baikasu, who seemed to be in pain. "Baikasu!" Shuichi shouted, "Hey! BAIKASU!!!!"
"Shu! Where's everyone?! Where's the exit?! We need to get out of here fast!"
"Yeah, no kidding! I'm looking for everyone else, too!"
Shu noticed the injured leg. "WHOA!!! How did that happen? No matter. I'll heal it..." With a quick chant, the leg was healed easily. "Okay, now we need to get out of here. Auubi, do you think you can make a time rift and teleport outside?"
Yes. That won't be too difficult.
The three started glowing, and with a flash moved outside.
*Gwyn wakes up, and stares at Naoko*
Gwyn: What is with that girl..... she is a melbane, one of the last two left alive..... Kain, is this possible???
Kain: Yes, Gwyn. The tragedy of the Melbane is a sad one. Their race will die out after this generation has passed.
Gwyn: It's not right..... us just sitting here while her friends are in that temple in danger. It goes against everything I believe as a Dragoon.
Kain: I know, I have had much contact with Dragoons in the past. But there is nothing you can do now....
*Gwyn shakes his head and gets up, and walks outside, walking up to CaranᲮ*
Gwyn: Old friend, we're going back to the temple..... are you ready?
*CaranᲠsnorted in agreement*
*Gwyn laughs a bit*
Gwyn: So you too are getting tired of all this waiting around???? Then whats keeping us???? Lets go.
Baikasu says, "For my test I had to fight a frickin' dragon, then make my own way out!" He gets his flask, then drinks a few gulps. "That's better. Where is everybody?" He then starts to tend to his minor cuts with some clear liquid [only Baikasu knows what he has wink ] and bandages, colored black.
*Phey feels the temple rumbling and looks up to see a chunk of the ceiling falling towards her. She jumps out of the way quickly before it lands.*
"oh great... the temple's going to callapse! ... this wouldn't be so bad if i had some clothes on. "
"Stop complaining! we have to get out! RUN!"
"which way do I go?!"
"...."
*Phey started to panic and just picked a direaction and ran. Like the little Fox girl she was, she ran on all fours looking very awkward.*
"grrr... the gods of this temple must really hate me...."
*she came to a dead end and started to turn back but a couple pillars fell in front of her, blocking her path. she was trapped.*
"what are you doing?"
"i'm trapped..."
*Phey let out a long shout, more out of frustration than anything else, hoping someone might hear her. after a few seconds, she tried clawing her way through and managed to pop out between the 2 pillars.*
*sigh* "not which way do i go? i have to get out..."

"I don't know where anyone is, Baikasu, but I'm definitely going back in there for them." Suddenly, Shu felt a desperate energy inside of the Temple. "What the...?" Shu said as he recoiled from the shock. "How come I felt that, Auubi?" He looked down at the coyote.
That crystal on your forehead is useful for many reasons, like I said. This is another one of them. You have my ability to sense energy, as well as teleportation because of it, just like I have some of your Healing capabilitites. Now, concentrate. What do you feel?
"Hmmm.....I feel..." Shuichi started, concentrating. Suddenly, he felt a burst of.....fire. "PHEY!!!"
With that, Shuu decided, and decided to test his newly gained power. "Stay here for a moment, okay? I'll be right back..." He said to Baikasu, before concentrating to locate the spot, and disappearing suddenly. He reappeared right in front of Phey. "Phey! Good! I fou-" Shu started, before realizing something...her clothes were....gone. "AH!" Shuu said, blushed, and turned around quickly. "Oops....what happened to your clothes...?" He said in an embarassed tone.
Baikasu walks over to the nearest house and says, "Well, since I can't do anything right now besides wait, I might as well start a fire for tonight." He spots a large, dead tree. He takes out his katakna and cuts it into small pieces. Baikasu then takes out a C4 bomb, dismalnteles it, get's some wood, piles them all up in a nicee grid-like pattern, then lights the C4. "Much better. That should burn for a while." He takes out all of his food, all still in packages. Then takes uout a canteen and putes it next to the food.
"I don't know where everyone is, Daewyn. You're the first person I found," Shao said, relieved to finally see someone.
"I'm sure that I'm not the only person who's had some crazy things happen but..." Shao suddenly felt something. It's as if someone was calling him from a specific place. It's the voice of a familiar person...Daewyn turned around too, also sensing the call.
"Shu?........
....Let's go! We'll talk about what happened later."
*phey crouched down, standing tip-toed, hugging her knees to her chest. She was embarassed, but glad to see Shuu. she slowly scooted behind him to try and get out of his view.*
"umm... during my test... my clothes were kinda...burnt...."
*Suddenly a chunk of the ceiling fell right next to Phey. This Started her so much that she jumped and clung to Shuu's back like a frightened cat.*
"can we please get out of here!?"
"Right! On it!" Shuu said, trying NOT to pay attention to the situation around them and focus on leaving. With another flash, both he and Phey were outside near Auubi and Baikasu. "Okay, good. That's two, now where's everyone else?"
Try and focus on a new source of energy. Focus...
"Alright......hmmmm......." Shuu focused yet again, seeing nothing but darkness at first. Then, he finally saw-or felt-something. Something wet, like....
"WATER! SHAO!!!!! I'll be right, there!"
And with that, Shuu said "Guys, stay right here, okay? I've got to get Shao!" and began concentrating yet again, until he blinked out yet again.
With another flash, he was right in front of Shao and Daewyn. Actually, he was almost trampled by them. "WAIT! STOP!!!!!" Shuichi cried, hoping NOT to get trampled.
Shao and Baikasu keep running, encountering some beasts along the way that like nothing else but to devour them. However, whenever they defeat the monsters, they disappear as if they're ghosts.
While running at top speed, suddenly there was a bright flash and Shu appears right in front of them.
"WHOOOOOOOOA!!"
Shao was so startled that he almost fell backwards trying to stop at a halt.
"SHU!!" Shao was really puzzled as to how Shu just appeared from nowhere, but he did no care because he was so glad to see him.
"You know where the others are? We've been running around and found nothing but creatures everywhere."

"I made a fire so we could have someplace warm to recover. I've got food and drink too. That's all though."
He notices Phey's lack of clothing.
He blushes slightly.
Baikasu says, "What, exactly, happened to all your stuff?"
Daewyn ran along behind Shao and Shu, but it almost seemed like they had forgotten she was there at all. She watched the rear and fought off any monsters that attacked, while Shao and Shu took care of the front. Finally Daewyn got tired of it all and called over to Shu and Shao. "Hey, isn't there a quicker way to get out of here!? This temple is about to collapse on our heads!"
Naoko slowly opens her eyes from a much needed rest, realizing that her amulet has been glowing in a strange green glow.
"What the..."she begins to say.
Mistress of the Void, you have been chosen to destroy this temple, a mysterious voice calls to her.
Naoko stands up, grabbing her amulet and staring back at it. You...you're not my mother...
No, I am not, child. Your mother only allowed herself to truly become part of the Void in order to comfort you during these trying times, the voice explains.
"Then...who are you?" Naoko asks herself, too engrossed in the amulet to notice a small fire from afar.

"...The jewel?" Naoko asks herself before disappearing in a dark light.
Shu stops the party entirely and tries to explain everything. "Okay, there's a faster way out, because I've learned how to teleport, and nobody's here because I got them all out already, and my amulet is a coyote, and I have new powers, and.....Screw it! Just come close and hang on! I'll explain later!" As the three came closer to each other and hung on to Shuichi, he started concentrating on the energy outside. He could almost hear Auubi telling him to focus. With one last bright flash, the remaining trio suddenly 'blinked out of the Temple and found themselves outside once more, with everyone else. Shu, who was VERY tired from doing so much teleporting, fell to the ground while breathing heavily.
Good job, Shu. You saved everyone from what could've become a catastrophe. Now, rest and restore your energy...
The only thing he could think of, though, was Aren't we missing something? Didn't we go into that Temple for something....? And where's Naoko???
Once outside, Shao fell on the ground beisde the others, who gave a little jump when the three of them appeared. But many comforting words came from everyone as they all shared stories of their test.
After looking around at everyone, Shao becamed worried..
"Where's Naoko? Is she still inside??? Is she in the void? Where is she? I thought you said you got everyone out already, Shu.."
*Phey hid herself behind a bush as Daewyn, Shao, and Shuu reappeared in front of them, but still poked her head up so they know where she is.*
"I have a feeling that Naoko's not inside... but where's Rubicant?"
