oooohhhh! after deciding that we spend to much money on bottled water, (about 30 dollars a month) we bought a brita! it was the cheapest smallest pitcher filter they had but it works. delicous!!! well im happy now. and it was only 10 bucks for 2 months. we are going to go price filters for it. we bought the filter from my work and with the discount it came to about 8.50 before tax. the filters are 3 for 20 dollars. we will try walmart. but i doubt they will beable to beat my discount. which i dont mind. because my work is a hell of a lot closer than walmart.

We have a PUR water filter dispenser. We had a small pitcher, but we were going through the water so fast that it wasn't practical for us so we bought the bigger dispenser. I love it. When I started college I had a Brita pitcher. I like PUR ones better because I like the taste of the filtered water better, but that's just a matter of preference.

Well I don't have to worry about a water filter here in Iceland. The water is so pure here. I am used to using the faucet attachments since I am from the USA.
Swimming is so good for pregnant women. I walk to the pool near here and take a dip then go into the Jaccuzzi. I am not used to going into jaccuzzis since in the USA they told me I couldn't but here the midwife said I could. The water in them here is only about 98 degrees F.
I have 31 days of this pregnancy left. So hard to sleep at night and the baby's head is now directly like on my bladder. Baby is head down and ready for birth.
I have a hard time breathing when laying down and I have a hard time getting up out of bed and tying my shoes and such. I almost completely have given up on shaving my legs. I just can't want to get this baby out. I guess I need to stay patient even though I am eating so much and stuff. sweatdrop

If it was warm enough I would say invest in a nice pair of sandals.. thankfully it'll be spring soon and I'll be able to get a pair so I wont have to worry about trying to get my shoes on (or my ever happening while pregnant swelling ankles when I wear shoes.. ugh!). Although I was pregnant through most of the summer last pregnancy (and my first come to think of it) and I had to start having my husband tie my shoes for me, and help me out of bed (It didnt help that for a few months of my last pregnancy.. we had no bed so I slept on the floor eh?.. oh man.. THAT hurt!)
and I can understand the not being able to wait to get the baby out.. I'm not due until JUNE and already I want this baby outta me.. (I wanna meet my little boy already *insert whine here.. hehehe*)

The last month seems like the longest doesn't it? I have had three, two by vaginal delivery and without epidural or demerol or other drugs of that kind. My last was a planned c-section because baby was breach and could not be turned. I am looking into becomming a Dula... Trained labout support person. They also do private pre natal counceling and such.

Do any of you mom's to be have a Dula as well as a midwife or OB/GYN?

Does the idea of an experianced woman who knows what you want to support your self and you husband through the pregnancy and birthing process sound like a good idea?

I have helped two friend deliver now, one her first and one her 5th, but they both felt my presence was helpful and comforting. The spouses also felt supported but not pushed aside. Sort of like having an extra pair of hands helping their wife labout and deliver as well as someone to tell them they are doing a good job supporting their wife.

What do you folks think?

Well my boyfriend and I get support from his sister. She is a midwife and works at the same place my midwife does. The only reason she didn't take me is because of the previous C-Section I have had. And her part of the place can't take previous C-section women due to the heavy monitoring that has to be done when in labor.

This last month is going to drag by so much. I have a feeling I will go early again. I am anxious all at the same time since I get to have a regular birth this time and the baby's gender is a surprise.

Is it normal to have sharp pain when you pee toward the end of pregnancy?
Or when you have to pee...have a hard time?

I get both. I am starting to worry.

I also can feel the babys head when I walk and such grinding against me. Feels so strange. (Yes baby is head down)

It almost sounds like to me that the baby is pushing down trying to get out when you are trying to pee. Have you talked to your dr about it? I would try and rest more until you can talk to your doctor about it, and make sure to chug tons of water.. might help some.

You don't midwife. The serve the same purpose as the doctor and nursing staff.

Some women prefer midwives becuase it often is a more woman friendly, accepting way. A lot of doctors view birth as a MEDICAL PROCEDURE and sometimes forget it's natural. If you go to a midwife/birth center they're more likely to let you walk around, birth in a normal bed, use a tub/shower.

But there are doctors that are accepting and open about birth as well. Male and Female.

On the question of a doula, I don't feel I need or would ever want one. I had /will have my mother and husband present someone to comfort and coach me (husband), and someone to stand up for me and kick a** when it needed to be done (mother). Some people feel the need to have someone who's "experienced" with birth. But a doula can't go through it for me, and I'm very specific about who I want around when I'm uncomfortable or in pain. And my husband was PHENOMENAL.

When I had Logan at the hospital here, the staff was AWESOME! The nurses were very helpful and I don't think, personally, I would want another stranger in on my birth. I felt so relaxed with my husband there and for some reason him being a nurse reassured me no one was going to screw me over.

I have a friend who's going to doula classes, but I don't think I would ever ask for a doula. I didn't really feel like I needed an extra pair of hands, my hubby was enough for me. I know the military is providing free doulas for women having babies while their spouses are deployed, that I am totally in agreement with! I think it's a wonderful service since their hubbies aren't there. I guess it depends on who it is. That and I wasn't going to shell out money if I was going to do the work, lol.

the pain may be the presure of the babys head on your bladder, but anytime something becomes painful you should tell you doctor. Especially at the end of you pregnancy. you should be able to call and let them know, and not have to wait for your next appointment.

Especially if it's hurting when you are peeing. Urinary Tract Infections are SOOOOO common in pregnancy. Really, you're lucky if you don't get one.

I had a minor UTI and it wasn't hurting when I was actually peeing or even when my bladder was full, but RIGHT after I got done peeing it felt sorta like cramping but more acute and in one spot.
