Rhea looked down at her hands, then held them up, palms upwards. Magic trickled into them, the blue liquid pooling in her palms, but as her eyes narrowed in concentration it slowly began to fade, bit by bit being replaced by a faint glow of light.

"Look! Look!" she squealed, and the light faded faster than it had appeared. "I did it I did it!"

Cindy giggled a bit seeing that, it was neat and who knew? Maybe Rhea would be able to form that light into something that she could use. Lights were always useful, but now would not be a good time.

"So you did," she smiled, "I guess that's one more thing we can add to the list of things you can do."

Rhea giggled and looked at her hands again, but nothing happened.

"Oh well," she grinned, clasping her hands behind her back and smiling up at Cindy. "Are you all done unpacking?"

Maybe she could ask about some of Cindy's other things ...

Cindy looked around at the moment, it took a long while fortunately it was just stuff in her room. Such as a small wooden jewllery box that she had since she couldnt' remember when, becaue that's where her feather was stored in, and then there were her books, quills, materials... etc...

"I think so," she replied, "It went quicker than I thought."

Rhea looked around curiously. "What are all the plants you have?" she asked, pointing at the various pots of plants that were around the room. "I never saw most of them before ... what are they for? What do they do? What do you do with them?"

She skipped over to the work table and peered closely at one of them.

"Well most of them I use for making potions or lotions, a few of them I give to Triton when he lacks spices," Cindy replied.

She joined Rhea at the table, she wondered if any of her plants existed in this world. There was a curious thought.

"The green leafy one is an aloe plant, it is the most basic one I work with, which is why I grow a lot fo it. It's insides is soothing to the skin, so is excellent for burns, or itches..."

Rhea looked at the plants intently as Cindy described them, and once she had finished explaining them and what they did, she looked up at Cindy once more.

"Who is Triton?" she asked curiously, her hazel eyes looking up at Cindy innocently.

"Triton is my little brother," she paused and giggled.

That was kind of not the correct way of putting it, so she tried again.

"Well, he's not little, he's taller than me, but I'm the second oldest in the family, since Elnara would be the oldest."

"Elnara," Rhea murmured softly, her brow furrowing gently in thought. She looked up at Cindy, her hazel eyes troubled. "She's the one that's like us, right? Like Mama and Papa and me?"

She had only met Kara and Donovan and the others that had been here until a few days ago, and now Cindy of course, but she didn't know anyone else from the other world.

"Yes," Cindy nodded, "She is, actually. In truth, even though Elnara is my sister, she is related to you and your family, distantly, but she is an Aldrich as much as she is a Winters."

Of course Elnara belonged to both families, and nothing was going to change that. It seemed a long while ago now.

Rhea stared at Cindy, and her thoughts were so intense that one could almost see in her eyes just how hard she was thinking. Of course, the direction of her thoughts was not quite as clear, though her eyes were fixed entirely on Cindy's face. She rubbed her chin thoughtfully, her eyes growing narrow and then wider again, and finally, she asked in a very curious tone:

"Does that mean you're my cousin?"

Cindy looked thoughtful for a moment, that was actually a really good question. She put a finger on her chin thoughtfully as if to try and explain this in a way that made sense.

"Hmm.... well... not really, no," she replied finally looking back down, "It just means we share the same person as family, you by blood and us by bonds."

"Oh," Rhea murmured solemnly. She looked down at her hands, turning them from one side to the other, and then looked up at Cindy once more.

"Bonds like ... being tied up?" she questioned, confused once again.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 05, 2008 4:15 pm

"An... no," Cindy shook her head as she took a seat in her chair, "There are different types of bonds, bonds of friendship, when you feel close to a person because they are your friends, bonds of blood because you are related through blood or marriage, bonds of love, when you have someone you would want to spend your whole life with... and there are bonds of family. People who come together, even though they're not related but consider themselves family. My family are mainly bonds by family, almost everyone in my family are adopted and no one is related to each other by blood, but we are family."

If that made any sense, Cindy knew she taken it for granted that she grew up in this kind of life where family was family. No matter how odd it might seem.

As Cindy explained what she had meant, Rhea's eyes grew wider and clearer with understanding, and when Cindy had finished she clapped her hands together excitedly.

"Like Mama and Papa and me, we're a family!" she beamed. "And Mama lived with Neko and Nako even before Mama and Papa were real family! Right? Like that? And like how the children at the ranch are all good friends?"
