knightofthe21stcentury (Whited out spoiler) A great big cyberman stomping around the city shooting rockets out of it's hands. Some of RTD's plots seem like they're written by a 6 year old, just to please other 6 year olds.
rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl Well from what I saw tonight, my reaction to that is, you're absolutely right. xd I'll let someone else say what I'm thinking. mrgreen
RTD stays true to form and manages to involve Daleks again.. making that list I wrote pretty darn accurate! eek
I loved the explanation of the "sonic screwdriver" and Tardis xd I know I wasn't the only one watching who was like "C'mon, I wanna see the Tardis already!!"
Fob watch = WIN. heart *sproing! thud* I figured out when he asked for it the second time that the name would be on it, but that was definitely win. Referencing Blink. "Don't blink? Blink and you're dead? Remember that?" ... "You're a very strange man." xd
I REALLY loved that they showed little bits of all the previous Doctors.. it's nice to have a solid flashback to them in the new series. smile And of course, watching Ten wonder how he might have 'regenerated'. xd
And please tell me someone else was thinking that Rosita sounded an awful lot like Rose!
TL;DR: Pretty awesome yet becomes really silly!

Ceribri Well, the entire first 5 minutes / opening was given as a large preview some weeks ago.. neutral How to tell if the special or plotline was written by RTD: 1) The Doctor uses 'What?' three times in a row near or at the beginning of the special. 2) Appearance of ultra-baddie at least once/twice per season. Bonus points if it's involved in that season's finale. Triple points if there's more than one baddie at the same time. 3) Deus ex machina is used within the last 15-20 minutes of the episode/special. Bonus points if it involves a companion becoming abnormally powerful. 4) Robot Santas or the like are involved. Edit: Keep in mind, I haven't seen the current special yet. I'll probably be adding more to the list afterwards. xD
1. Nope, thank heavens! 2. Yeaaah, Cybermen kinda count as ultra-baddies. /sarcasm Daleks were mentioned and Dalek machinery was a key plot point at the end.. I'd give points for that. 3. Aforementioned Dalek machinery made the Big Baddie go *dead--poof!* Despite the "A man is the sum of his memories, you know..", and the non-Doctor recovered his memories at the end, I don't think in this case it would be considered making him powerful in a way that would make the outcome of the fight any different, IMHO -- he already knew how to use the memory stick things. 4. Steampunk!Santa would have been cool, but no. xd
Altogether, I count points & bonus for 2, and points for 3. Not bad. smile

Except he did say "What?" "What?!" and "W-What?!" at the beginning.

OK, this thread is drivin' me NUTZ with all the white text--how the bleep am I supposed to read it? Can't the mod's un-white it all and just put a big "Don't read this until after you see the ep!" warning on it? I mean sheesh, I avoided the entire forum until after I'd seen it, so the British fans could enjoy discussing it freely . . . *end rant against annoying white text* So, any-Who, we had a big Christmas Ep Party at my place, with tea and biscuits, (sadly, we couldn't find any edible ball bearings, and our banana had gone mushy!), and I think my five year old son's response to the Cyber-King was epic: "Do you think Godzilla could fight that?" I also was pretty impressed with him just now when, as I went shuffling through the junk drawer to find something to pick the lock on the bathroom door, he said to me: "That's a screwdriver? So are you the Doctor?" rofl

Eirwyn You HIGHLIGHT the white text, dear. See? xp Nobody ever told me to do that. I'll try . . . OK, it worked. Well, my son liked the ep, and he's in kindergarden, so I guess the assesment of RTD's plots is fairly accurate . . . Personally, I saw the end and wondered if they had a toy company sponsoring them . . . rofl Bring on Steven Moffatt! His baddies are SCARY as wahmbulance wahmbulance wahmbulance ! And are not Daleks or Cybermen. But, speaking of Daleks, I'll try and get back to my fan fic as soon as I have the MarsCon insanity figured out.

I saw the huge cyberman and thought: Ouch, that would impress 10-year-old kids (it did, see Fear Forecast on the BBC page stare ) but definitely not me. As some of you I prefer other kinds of baddies, let's say, Weeping Angels or Vashta Nerada?

Hopefully there will be more of that stuff in s5 with Moffat(sp?) in charge... _____________________________________________________ >>> <<<
