The Audition ~*1/8*~ The sign had said they needed a few last minute singers and dancers for a huge show on Christmas Eve. She had thought it was for backup singers and dancers needing more to round out a cast for a show. It'd been an honest mistake – the poster hadn't specified much, after all. The purple skinned teen had gone to check out the place with her best friend. Mareike had heard a bunch about Cirque de la Lune from Taylor and wanted to go see it. The two had different reasons and different ideas about the location, but they had been bound for the same place. ~*Some girls won't dance to the beat of the track Won't walk away, but she won't look back*~ After they'd checked it out, investigated the place and what not, the pair decided it was okay. They'd had to wait after their arrival to go to audition anyway – there was a little bit of a line so the pair had put their names down and then gone to have lunch. It was late afternoon before either was called. Ebony went first, smiling politely and waving to the judges as she went from the back room to the stage. Auditions were on a private stage before a few judges so that none of the auditionees got nervous performing in front of their competition. So far, the girl wasn't nervous – it was just a back up position after all. ~*She looks good, but her boyfriend says she's a mess She's a mess, she's a mess*~ It had all seemed to go so wrong from the first. Immediately, one of the judges had looked disapprovingly at her and made a comment about wearing proper attire to an audition. The girl was in her street clothes – a thick woolen coat, jeans, and sneakers. The man beside her, a stern faced and tired looking brunette just waved the comment aside and asked her to remove her jacket as they couldn't watch her form properly in a long coat. Ebby blushed, apologizing and removing the garment, glad she was at least wearing a turtleneck and not something too baggy. She apologized a few times before the man held up his hand for silence, which just made her more nervous. Oh she was wrecking everything up already. ~*Now the girl is stressed She's a mess, She's a mess, She's a mess, She's a mess*~ The man asked Ebby to show them a few specific dance steps. She didn't completely know them but was willing to try and perform as she'd either seen them or had tried something similar when the move was explained. She tried to let her motions flow but was a bit stiff and jerky. They gave her specific steps and had her repeat them a few times. “All right, Miss Dartsmoore, we're going to put on a song and we'd like you to repeat those steps in time to it now.” another woman, who hadn't previously spoken told her. Ebby nodded – doing them to music now? Well, that might be easier actually, than doing them with no rhythm or idea of the flow. ~*Baby love to dance in the dark Cuz' when he's looking she falls apart Baby love to dance in the dark*~ The music was soft and beautiful, Ebony's body moving in time to the notes, her lips unknowingly beginning to move to sing to the words. The movements made sense now, the flow straight and soft, and the lyrics fell from her lips in time with the song. The world, the judges and the lights disappeared as she moved with ease to the beat of music she'd never heard before, and sang along. There was no one who could take this from her. ~*Baby love to dance in the dark Cuz when he's looking she falls apart Baby love to dance, love to dance in the dark Dance*~ She only returned to her sense when the music was clicked off. “All right, Miss Dartsmoore, thank you. You may just go through that door. We will call you if you made a part.” the brunette man said calmly. Ebby nodded fast and headed off stage to take a seat and wait for Mareike. ~*Baby loves to dance in the dark Cuz' when he's looking she falls apart Baby loves to dance in the dark Babbbbbbbbyyyyyyy! Baby loves to dance in the dark Cuz' when he's lookin she falls apart Baby loves to dance, loves to dance In the dark~* It'd barely been a few hours after her arrival home that they called up to inform her that she had made not only a spot in the chorus for one number, but was to fill their opening in the lead of one part of their show. Practice, Practice, Practice ~*2/8*~ She hadn't known that the reason they needed auditions so badly was not just to fill up back up spots. The teen had had no idea that a few of the leads in the holiday performance had actually become sick or injured very soon before production and replacements were needed asap. She hadn't known how much work or time had been put into this show when she and Mareike had signed up. Most of the applicants had been practicing to understudy in this show anyway – backup dancers and whatnot. The majority hadn't just been walk-ins off of the street. And yet, two demon-angel spawns had managed to come in and wow the judges with their personality, beauty and talent. Mareike's fire and passion and just general badassery had won her one role. Ebony's softness, grace and beauty had won her another. ~*Why are there so many songs about rainbows And what's on the other side?*~ With the show so close, they had only one month to learn moves and motions for multiple roles that others had had months to learn. Mareike had an easier time of it since she was diligence, but Ebby worked her a** off, cutting out most other activities from her life that weren't vital. The two practiced together frequently, often having to play off each other as their solos were close to each other in the performances. It had turned out that the show was to go on from morning till evening the next day, with breaks in between and several large productions happening. They were lucky enough that their chorus duties were early in the day and their solos were later in the evening. Practicing with Mareike was like magic to Ebby. The girls worked off of each other well, being such good friends. She could trust that Mare would let her fall during some moves, and Mare could trust that Ebby wouldn't take advantage of the situation. They practiced in their homes, at the CdL facilities, and sometimes even when just out and about. It was during one of these, that things changed, for both the better and worse. ~*Rainbows are visions, but only illusions And rainbows have nothing to hide*~ The people directing both of their solo sections had seen the two spawns practicing together and were amazed. They were newbies, but they were hard working and the way they worked together was just amazing. It was something that just worked so well, the pair had had to rush off to ask Allen – the head director – for a small change in the show. The two girls had been approached later with a very interesting proposition. They would have one more piece in this production, but with a catch: the two girls would be doing a duet piece. The show itself was a holiday mix, featuring bits on the different holidays celebrated at that time of year, the religious versus secular parts of the holiday and a rather grand piece about the good and bad parts of the season. Ebony and Mareike would be performing in the last two. ~*So we've been told and some choose to believe it I know they're wrong, wait and see*~ The girls had to work ten times harder now. They had minor chorus duties, their solo pieces and now a duet to learn and so much less time to do it. Ebony had had to just stay permanently at Cirque for the last few weeks, just working whenever she was awake, and sometimes even eating while she worked – she stopped doing that after nearly choking during a dance section however. Around the time they were told that they could perform a duet together, the girls had had another bombshell dropped on them: the majority of Cirque de la Lune's performances were done almost nude. The actors generally wore little more than body paint and a few minor garments over their privates so they weren't totally exposed or liable to get in awkward situations while performing. Ebby had never been comfortable nude around others, and now she was to do so live on stage in front of millions of people. To make things worse, Mare was to be wearing armor like items for her performance, but in the duet scene the younger girl was to strip her of the armor in a figurative gesture. It wasn't at all bedroomy or disturbing – more like literally tearing away the shields she kept around herself to keep others out and keep from loving. It was to be a very beautiful and powerful piece but it did require a lot of practice. ~*Some day we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers and me*~ It had been a lot of work but somehow, the two had made it through the weeks towards Christmas and learned what they needed to. Now, there was only the show to be conquered. Word Count: 765 Lyrics: Rainbow Connection, Kermit the Frog

Before The Show and In The Chorus ~*3/8*~ The big night arrived, and Ebony found herself so nervous. It'd been so strange getting up early and not going to find Mareike to practice. The girl stared out at the Cirque grounds, sipping her morning tea – something she'd taken up as it was good for her voice – and just staring at it. It was really the perfect morning to have the show – the snow was falling softly outside and the world seemed at peace. It was strange – she'd worked so hard for this day, been so nervous, so afraid, and here she was and...nothing. Almost in a daze, the girl went through her morning routine – eating, stretching, warming up her voice, just getting ready. The maneuvers, they were almost second nature now, she could do them with her eyes closed – well, more closed than they already seemed. ~*It's colder than before The seasons took all they had come for Now winter dances here It seems so fitting don't you think? To dress the ground in white And grey*~ Very early on, someone came to fetch her to prepare for the show. The people in the chorus didn't have much to wear – a bit of light glitter, simple tight white costumes, and soft skirts. The girls were grouped by how they looked – the 'normal' girls in one section, and those with wings and pretty colored skin in another so as to add to effect. The more normal ones had to wear more makeup and do their hair fancy, but girls like Ebony and Mareike only had to wear their outfits, altered a bit to show some of their skin. The dances and songs were easy enough to do, keeping time with the other girls, keeping her voice at a reasonable level. It was all a blur as the teen went through things without even realizing she was doing them. The chorus was the least of her problems, after all. She may have to keep in time with the other girls and sing with them, but it was nothing to what would come later that eventing. ~*It's so quiet I can hear My thoughts touching every second That I spent waiting for you Circumstances afford me No second chance to tell you How much I've missed you*~ Afterwards, the people who had solos were taken aside. They were given a decent meal and it was recommended that they rest for a while. They'd have a little time to do some warmups before being sent to costume and makeup, and then dinner after. The teen didn't really realize how tired she felt until her head was resting on Mareike's shoulder and she was drifting off. Her dreams were nothing she could remember, her body just sinking into a relaxed state. She hadn't even felt aware when she was on stage in that costume, hadn't felt how hard her body was working or how exciting it was to be up in front of friends and family. There, she had been a girl in the back of the chorus, a friend of her's near by, singing and dancing, just one of other girls. But it would be different later. ~*My beloved do you know When the warm wind comes again Another year will start to pass And please don't ask me why I'm here Something deeper brought me Than a need to remember*~ Tonight, she'd have to shed all of her fears. Tonight she wouldn't just be the girl at the back of the chorus line having fun. She wouldn't just be little Ebby, cute and fun. Tonight the girl would be a woman, dancing for all the world to see, wearing barely anything, and in front of those she loved. It would be a change, she'd known that all along, but for the better or worse, was not on her mind as she dozed. Word Count: 553 Lyrics: Beloved, VNV Nation

Costume and Makeup ~*4/8*~ She woke up alone in the waiting room. Mare was not the type who would sleep the full time given, whether she should or not. The purple skinned teen wandered slowly out towards where she was supposed to wait for costume and makeup. A young woman was there to wait on her and gave the girl some tea, letting her sit and relax since she was up more than an hour early before she was due to be woken. Ebony sat in the chair, just watching the snow out of the window, a placid look on her delicate features. After a time, she stood, quietly starting to sing her lyrics and move to music that no longer needed to play for her to follow. The lyrics flowed softly as she twirled and moved, her body taking care with each motion. ~*Oh what the hell she says I just can't win for losing And she lays back down*~ The woman who was to help Ebony returned again after a time, this time bearing what was to be the base for the girl's costume: a top that was to wrap around the girl's upper portions to keep her ample breasts from flying every which way, and a set of boy shorts that were to keep her lower half protected. The girl carefully stripped down to the nude, carefully putting on the garments, her assistant having to adjust the top. Staring at herself in the mirror, Ebony felt strange. This would be the last time that she'd see herself like this for a while. She already looked so different – her legs and arms had become stronger from all of the dancing practice, and her waist had slimmed a little when she'd started to eat a proper diet – nutritious things instead of just whatever takeout the family got or what she cooked. Her previously pink hair had been bleached white so as to allow for coloring in this show and the pink had been removed from her feathers. Looking at the soft, nervous teenaged girl, Ebby felt strange. Quietly, she made one request of her assistant – take a picture of her, one last photo of her as she was before she went further and become something else. For already, the teen knew this show would change her forever. ~*Man there's so many times I don't know what I'm doin Like I don't know now*~ With the photo taken, the teen allowed herself to be taken into another room. The 'under clothes' she wore were carefully painted to match her skintone flawlessly, blending in so as to make her soft body look totally bare, but with a lack of definition that took away the feel of nudity. It was weird to look at herself in a mirror, moving a little and watching her body move as it should, as if there were nothing on, nothing more than a second skin. After that, she was to be airbrushed a bit, icy blue accents being added to her purple hued skin. It felt like she was being blown along her sides with a large spout of wind, but another look in the mirror, showing the tracks of blue down her sides showed otherwise. Her body was now two toned, but it wasn't very neat. But this was only the beginning. ~*By the light of the moon She rubs her eyes Says it's funny how the night Can make you blind*~ Several different people surrounded her then, young woman with soft paint brushes who added flecks of white and soft hues of purple and blue to mix the tones of her skin with the paint, making the wintery accents seem like true crystal or ice coating her skin. The soft pink of her cheeks was hued with a darker color under her cheek bones and soft paints and powders being brushed over her face to brighten the pink to a delicate red. Next, when the paint on her body was dry, she was sat in a chair and women carefully did her makeup and took care of the rest of her features. Her nails were painted, her horns were painted a bit shined brightly. The girl felt almost like Mulan as a brush painted color to her soft plump lips and her eyes were made up. Different tools were used to lengthen the look of her thick lashes and make them sparkles, and before too long, the teen looked nothing like she had before. ~*I can just imagine And I don't know what I'm supposed to do But if she feels bad then i do too So I let her be*~ They had not finished primping and poking her, a lady carefully dusting blue powders into Ebony's white hair, using gel to make the color stay and fluff up the short cut layers, leaving her with a soft feathery look to it, that matched her wings now, which had had blue accents put on them as well. Accessories were simple at most – gold jewelry here and there, rings on her ankles and wrists, a few white and gold feathered accents too. Looking in the mirror, she looked and felt like a Christmas angel. Glittery and shiny, sparkly and shimmery, soft and beautiful, icy yet warm and holy. She no longer looked to herself like a lust and kindness spawn – she was a creature of beauty, found only in dreams and fairytales, tales of winter holidays and creatures that were found only in the holiest of places. ~*And she says oooh I can't take no more Her tears like diamonds on the floor And her diamonds bring me down Cuz I can't help her now She's down in it She tried her best and now she can't win it Hard to see them on the ground Her diamonds falling down *~ At least she was done. Her assistant took another phtograph of her – a during the process of change, she called it. For while Ebby looked different, she wasn't quite yet. But now, she felt prettier and somehow, that gave her a tad more confidence. She wasn't a girl in costume, but this creature they'd made her into, and she would show the world. Walking carefully to the stage through back stage halls, she was able to see Mareike's whole performance calmly and while waiting for her own. Word Count: 931 Lyrics: Her Diamonds, Rob Thomas

Duel Duet ~*5/8*~ It was strange, watching Mareike dance across the stage. It made Ebby smile a little to know that underneath everything, the other girl was dressed just as she was, looked just as pretty and good. For right now, the older girl's wings were against her back, strapped down for the moment and hidden under a black cape thing. It had a hood, to hide her hair, but show her horns, and the wrath spawn wore metal gloves and boots (or what looked like it), as well as shoulders and a bustier. It was all more easily removed than the audience would be led to believe. This number depicted her as cold and cruel, revealing the hard heads and dark souls of others on stage by tearing their white garments to show blackness beneath. She punished these souls with a whip and sword, her song taunting and cold, telling the world that the holiday was nothing but an excuse for greed and hatred, showing them that there was no love in the hearts of so many. It was a dark piece, the set hellish looking, draped in reds and blacks with icy spires lining it. She seemed such a cold creature and truly hated the season. ~*Don't try to explain your mind I know what's happening here One minute it's love And suddenly it's like a battlefield*~ The curtain closed with a snap almost, to show the matter of Mareike's character's dark soul was closed. The girl was allowed back stage then to relax as they set up for the duet and the extras were allowed to leave. Ebby grinned, rushing over to congratulate her friend. The two were allowed to relax for a while – particularly Mare – while the sets were switched and things were made ready for the duo. It was all too soon, however, before they were being summoned back to their places, each on either corner of the stage. In the center were some children who were to begin the act. It was the moment of truth and Ebony took a deep breath, letting herself relax as she waited for their act to begin. ~*One word turns into a war Why is it the smallest things that tear us down? My world's nothing when you don't I'm not here without a shield Can't go back now*~ The curtains opened slowly to young children caroling and others playing together in a park, talking about the things they wanted for Christmas. Ebony was hidden behind a tree, occasionally to be seen peaking out and flitting to another tree, watching the little ones with a smile on her face. As a child exclaimed about all the things he knew Santa was getting him, the stage “shook”, sound effects playing as a trap door opened, a piece of ice looking scenery being pushed up with Mareike seated on it. It came up fast, like ice bursting from the ground and she yelled at the child, berating him for his guilt. The woman raised her hand to strike him for his insolence – and was grabbed by Ebby. ~*Both hands, tied behind my back with nothing Oh no, these times when we climb so fast to fall again Why we gotta fall for it now*~ The furious female turned her face on her companion, the children rushing off as the dark clad woman glared at the one of light. She scolded Ebony in song for getting in her way, and was rebuked in return for her wicked ways. The pair had worked so hard to make this believable, to curse each other's wrongs – being to cold and angry, being to loving and forgiving – without laughing or seeming forced. The pair circled each other, singing coldly before beginning to show their powers. From one side of the stage, with raised arms, Mareike summoned more icy sets with dancers from her previous act, their cold and dark selves obvious from dark masks and their white clothes torn to show the blackness underneath. From her side, Ebony summoned people who underneath the plain outside showed gold inside, and with them they brought beautiful snow. ~*I never meant to start a war You know I never wanna hurt you Don't even know what we're fighting for*~ The two women continued to dance around each other, Mareike cursing points about the bad the holidays brought out in people and Ebony rebutting with the good. The two fought at times – stage fighting that involved Mareike grabbing for Ebony's jewelry and Ebony pulling the cape. The cape was meant to be easier to grab and the girl jerked the shoulder piece off, leaving her friend with only the hood. Behind them, the dancers from light and darkness moved around, avoiding the main combatants but if they touched each other, vanished in a puff of smoke. This continued till Mare's outfit only differed from Ebby's in the cape and all of the other dancers were gone. Through the song, the older girl's voice had gotten less and less mean, and when Ebby sang one last soft note, Mareike removed the hood herself, stepping forward to join her friend in it, a larger group of light dancers coming out to surround them for the final part of their duel. ~*Why does love always feel like a battlefield A battlefield, a battlefield? Why does love always feel like a battlefield A battlefield, a battlefield? Why does love always feel like*~ The last notes of the song died as the curtains closed and the two friends smiled, hugging carefully and heading back to go have a little tea and relax, one till the finale and one till her own piece. Ebby sat still while her makeup was touched up a little – a few more gold accents added, and fixing up anything that was mussed in the “fighting” and dancing. The scenes were being changed and it was almost time for her own solo number, and Ebby couldnt' wait. Word Count: 871 Lyrics: Battlefield, Jordan Sparks

Her First Solo ~*6/8*~ Now it was her turn, and the purple skinned teen stood slowly and gracefully, walking towards the stage. She started out hidden behind a white curtain with fake snow falling before her. As the background music of carolers began, the curtains were drawn back and she danced out, singing of the beauty of the season. People dressed like normal shoppers and holiday goers, wearing the garbs of different religions or none at all danced in lines along the stage. Ebony spun between them, spreading her wings to blow the sparkles and fake snow lightly over them, or pulling them in close as she slid between the people, singing about the unity and wonder of the season, holding hands with individuals now and then to dance a step and then going back to her solo dancing. ~*Roman candles that burn in the night Yeah, you are a shining light You lit a torch in the infinite Yeah, you are a shining light Yeah, you light up my life*~ At times, the lines would freeze at her word and she'd spin to the end of the line, then dance her way across, hands brushing the chests of the people, who had stood straight and lowered their heads when she commanded. As her hand brushed them, they would look up and their plain coats and shirts were open or torn open to reveal a golden heart upon a white or bare body. These people would then dance around to the music, the others in the line joining as they were touched. When the line was completely changed, the girl danced along the stage, her chain of free and good people dancing along after her but exiting the other half of the stage after she'd led the whole line in a circle. The next lines came out, a group of children singing or playing instead of shopping or working. And the whole thing repeated, her line now about the innocence of the holidays. ~*You’ve always been a thorn in their side But to me you’re a shining light You arrive and the night is alive Yeah, you are a shining light Yeah, you light up my life*~ As the children left the stage, the girl danced alone in the center, going down on one knee and looking up, hands folded as if in prayer, her soft voice beginning the words. However, as she did, the music changed and dark clad people in black masks rushed in from both sides of the stage, adults and children, circling her and accompanied by awful sounds. They danced and seemed to mock all that she sang of, ripping and fighting each other instead of uniting and celebrating. The circle of angry bodies converged on her, completely blocking the girl out in the middle. It seemed she would be drowned in the bad parts of the season, but as she was nearly lost, something changed. ~*We made our connection A full on chemical reaction Brought by dark divine intervention Yeah, you are a shining light A constellation once seen Over Royal David’s city An epiphany you burn so pretty Yeah, you are a shining light*~ She spread her wings, the people all falling back away from her, stunned, as a spotlight fell from the heavens and the girl flew up, raised mostly by strings that were attached by the group surrounding her. Her wings were wide and higher than the cold music, her own starting to overtake it using the darkness as a back beat, she sang of the light of the world, the hope of the season. This part of the solo cast away the backups and she was lowered, dancing away from the hookups and singing powerfully, now with a faster and dancier beat. The dark hearted people were kneeling and shielding their faces, but she reached out to touch them, turn them towards the light, and the black suits were torn open to reveal white suits beneath with soft red hearts with gold outlines upon their chests. ~*You are a force, you are a constant source Yeah you are a shining light Incandescent in the darkest night Yeah you are shining light My mortal blood I would sacrifice For you are a shining light Sovereign bride of the infinite Yeah, you are a shining light Yeah, you light up my life*~ After the holes were torn in their uniforms, Ebby took the hands of each person, helping them up as they removed their mask. Like the previous ones, these dancers followed her for one round before going off stage. And there in the center the girl was left, singing to the crowd as the music died down, one last beautiful note being sung as the curtain closed and she was hidden from them. Back stage, Ebony half collapsed on the couch, feeling exhilarated and amazing. That had been wonderful, and so beautiful. She hadn't felt the lights or the people staring at her. It had only been her, the music and the other dancers. The character she had been was real now and was who had been there, doing the deeds, not just a girl pretending to. And as she took another sip of tea, the girl knew she couldn't be happier. ~*We made our connection A full on chemical reaction Brought by dark divine intervention Yeah, you are a shining light A constellation once seen Over Royal David’s city An epiphany you burn so pretty Yeah, you are a shining light*~ The night was near over. She lounged on the couch and just stayed there, as the other acts closed and she awaited the finale. Afterwards, she'd get to see some friends and loved ones and get to go to dinner, then bed. But the hardest part was over and now, she was sure of how it was. Word Count: 773 Lyrics: Shining Light, Annie Lennox

The Finale ~*7/8*~ The stage was cleared of sets as the finale came about. Ebby and the others who had performed waited for their named to be called. Since the chorus this morning had already had it's finale, she didn't have to go out for that. Instead, she just waited through the other acts taking their bows to go out with Mareike. First the older girl was called and allowed to take her bow, summoned under the title of her act and her name given. Next the pair of them were called together, and came out holding hands, bowing together and smiling as flowers were thrown on stage. They went back then and the teen went out by herself to take a few bows for her own solo performance. More flowers were thrown – and Ebby had to stifle a giggle as she watched Shiraz throwing the heads of the flowers on stage and nibbling the stems. ~*I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore If I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before*~ Back stage once more, Ebby was allowed to sit down and relax a bit more. They weren't allowed visitors at this point, especially since the show had been so long, so the teen had time to just catch a breath and get one last photo taken of her in her 'after show' self, the near completed transformation, still made up but now slightly messier having performed. Bouquets from audience members were brought back to her – mostly from dear friends and family. She smiled and accepted these gratefully, before having to stand and head back to shower. The showers were in hot demand, so it was a good thing she was able to grab one at the place she'd been staying, though that meant briefly crossing the snowy landscape in costume. ~*But I have a talent, a wonderful thing 'Cause everyone listens when I start to sing*~ The shower was so welcome on tired muscles and sweat stained skin. The show had been strenuous and now that it was over, her own weight and the weight of the makeup made her feel as if she were being smothered. Being able to peel out of the tight clothing and clean off all of the showy makeup pieces, it was freeing sort of. Afterwards, she toweled off and pulled her street clothes back on, darting back to the main show area to meet up with the rest of the cast. Guests were allowed back for a little bit now and she got to give plenty of hugs and receive well wishes from friends, family and fans before everyone had to leave. The cast was to have a banquet and she'd rather like to eat before bed. ~*I'm so grateful and proud All I want is to sing it out loud*~ Dinner was a blur as she and Mareike sat, talking to tons of different people. The two girls were seated side by side and finally allowed to laugh and talk loudly and just relax. Or just not talk at all. After the adrenaline rushes had worn off, most of the cast was more than happy to just eat and be close for a while, before heading home. In Ebony's case, it wasn't so much heading home as heading to her apartment. It was the flat she and Mareike had taken up while they were present and practicing. But for some reason, as she stretched out on the simple bed in the large flat, and heard Mareike flop down in her own bed, the teen was sure there couldn't be anything more homelike. ~*So I say Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing Thanks for all the joy they're bringing Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me*~ As she drifted off for the second time that day, Ebony felt light and free. She was tired, she was stiff, but she'd worked hard and it felt great. The flowers in vases on their little dining table were beautiful and the stains of makeup in their shower were both testaments to how hard Ebony and Mareike had been working and just how much it paid off. There was to be recordings of the show put out and she'd get to see how she looked later. But for now, it was time for sleeping and she didn't even bother to think that as she fell asleep. Epilogue ~*8/8*~ It'd been a few days since the show and she hadn't gone home yet. The teen had been thinking very hard on how she felt about this whole situation. How she felt about performing, how she felt about being away from how, about working, about being on her own. It was all so strange and different and yet so wonderful. After a few days of considering, she'd finally gone to see about buying the apartment for real. Her mother gave her the money and if she was signing on to be a full time worker, it would be in her best interests to stay. She'd been contacted about becoming a full time cast member after the success of the Christmas show – as had Mareike – and Ebony had accepted. Now the teen was to start her own life in her new home. ~*Remember those walls I built Well, baby they're tumbling down And they didn't even put up a fight They didn't even make up a sound I found a way to let you in But I never really had a doubt Standing in the light of your halo I got my angel now It's like I've been awakened Every rule I had you breakin' It's the risk that I'm takin' I ain't never gonna shut you out *~ As she packed up her things, Shiraz and Absinthe hadn't wanted to let go of her legs. Kahlua'd even occasionally poked his head out of his room to ask if she had everything and if she needed any help. The teen hugged her siblings repeatedly, as well as her mother and uncle, feeling strange parting now. Everything was so very new and different, and while not as scary as she thought, it was definitely surprising. She'd taken one last picture the day she had settled fully into the apartment. The full set was up on her walls now – from beginning to end, the old Ebby to the new. It made her smile to see how she had grown, just in one month. Sitting in her room, she felt freer than ever in her life and so very grown up. The smile wouldn't leave her face, not even if she tried to remove it. ~*Everywhere I'm looking now I'm surrounded by your embrace Baby I can see your halo You know you're my saving grace You're everything I need and more It's written all over your face Baby I can feel your halo Pray it won't fade away I can feel your halo halo halo I can see your halo halo halo I can feel your halo halo halo I can see your halo halo halo *~ There wasn't due to be another big show for a while. Cirque did events for New Year's but not another huge show for Ebby for a while. She'd have to take some classes here and there and get a job at Cirque for between shows, but life was looking good. And for the first time in a month, she had time to herself again. And she snorted, thinking maybe she should go see Charna and Enki and give them some Christmas presents – after all, she hadn't been able to visit again for the holidays, being so busy. Meeting A Missing Friend Purple text is Orpheus Solon, black is Dgcakes It was late in the evening as a young woman entered the dimly lit church of St. Agnes. The church was decorated already for it's Easter celebration in the morning and candles dimly burned through the night, the only light in the little chapel, besides the teeny bit that came in from the open door. A young woman who was neither fully of the religious nature nor fully against it, walked towards the altar to kneel and pray. She was a lovely figure of a female, with curves in the right places and a slim figure everywhere else. This young lady wore a simple white gown and a white hat, her black hair peeking out from beneath it as white wings brushed the pews she walked past. Not the most quiet of night visitors, she still had to walk carefully so as to not wreck any of the displays, though her heels still made a telltale click along the floors. Carefully kneeling down, the little lady whispered prayers of thanks to a heavenly father she had never known and hoped to never have to meet, on this eve of a holy day. In the back of the church buried in dusty old documents were two men, one of them had dark hair and glasses, dressed in the garb of a priest while the other was dressed in simple clothing with a rather bright orange hair that was tied back in a braid. The red head looked the same as his companion these days, appeared to be completely human with a few scars here and there to remnd him of the past. His eyes were half closed and his head kept nodding forward as he fought off sleep. They had been working rather hard on their current task and he was no Diligence angel... though technically he wasn't any sort of angel these days.
The other man lifted a hand to adjust his glasses before he gave the younger male a glance and then a smile,
"Your dozing off again, Hyacinth. How about we take a short break?" He said, closing the book he was reading through which caused it to give off a cloud of dust that the man cleared out with a shaking of one hand.
"Hrm...?" Hyacinth looked over at the priest before he lifted a hand to smother a yawn, "I am not... that sleepy. Should be alright for a little longer." He said though his tone of voice didn't make it sound as such.
"Come on, we will head out to rest among the pews for a little while, a nap will do us both some good." The man told him as he rose to his feet and moved to herd the red head forward. The woman was standing up by this point, having just lit a candle as the end of her little 'prayer session', and was carefully adjusting her hat to make sure it covered her horns as she headed for the exit and promptly stopped, making a gasp of surprise as she saw too shadowy figures heading for her. "Oh! I had no idea anyone else was in here, I'm sorry." she said in a half whisper. The red head froze in place, back peddling a step as he recognized her coloration, her distinct eyes, and everything about her. This was... surprising, it shouldn't be since the spawn were free to go where they wished, but given that thus far he'd only stumbled across Cody it still shocked him a little.
Addy looked at the Fallen, to the girl that was standing there before them, and back again, "It is nothing to be sorry for, we are merely taking a break from our studies." The priest said in his ever kind manner. By the reaction from Hyacinth he was going to guess that he knew this one far better then that other child they had run across. She must mean more to him given how he was trying to use him to hide behind. "Hy-hyacinth?" Ebby asked quietly, having gotten a look at him when he started to move more. She didn't mean to be rude to the nice priest, but she hadn't seen the former patience angel since she'd been a little girl and she'd missed him so much! "Hyacinth!" she said before dashing over to hug him. Hyacinth gave a sound of surprise when the girl said in his name, even ducking behind Addy hadn't helped him in hiding from her though he had reacted a little slowly... and then she was hugging him. He blinked then gave a bit of a smile, "Hello Ebony." He murmured, lifting his arms up to give her a hug.
"Ahh, I thought so." Addy murmured as he watched the pair intereact. The girl smiled a bit, standing back in a moment and wiping a tear away. "I've been so worried about you. You just vanished one day and no one knew what happened to you. I'm glad you're not there anymore though." she said softly, fluttering her wings a bit before turning to smile at Addy. "Hello, I'm Ebony. It's nice to meet you. Have you been taking care of Hyacinth?" He gave a little nod of his head, "I am... sorry. I didn't think it would be good to make myself known, I am sure that... that he is very upset with me." He murmured, he could only imagine what Vampy had thought when he became aware of what had happened that day. He didn't want to ever meet up with that man again so it had seemed the best to lay low and hope to remain invisible.
"Ebony, it is good to meet you as well." He said, looking at the red head before he gave a smile, "Yes, Hyacinth has been in my care for some time now." He said, as the care of the Fallen had been something that was turned over to him. "It's all right. I wouldn't want him to find you either, mad or not." she said nodding her head a bit, "Even if they have found a...replacement." she said almost icily at the thought of how they just replaced people there when something happened. It was a business but it still felt so cold. "That's good. Have you been keeping him safe? He needs lots of safety and affection." she said teasingly, as if talking abotu a small child when she was really talking about someone older than her. But it was a friendly affection that caused her to speak in this manner, and a good natured feeling towards him. He was one of her first friends, after all. Hyacinth's eyes went wide and then he bowed his head "I am... sorry." He hadn't thought of that, of course he would have gone out to find himself a new Patience angel, he'd never just go without that particular DNA type. Not that he could have stayed behind after what had happened, he no longer had the his grace. He looked over at Ebony and gave a slightly strained smile, "Please forgive my weakness, I hope that the new angel at the Labs is able to do the same one day."
Addy couldn't help but to chuckle, "That is true enough, he does need taken care of. Hes very young and doesn't seem very good when it comes to taking care of himself." The priest said with a bit of a smile, "He is getting better though, aren't you Hyacinth?"
The red head nodded, "Yes, I am doing my best. There is a lot involved in what I am now." "Pagiel is...all right. From what I have been told, he arrived there by mistake." she commented softly, before nodding. "You have done nothing I feel needs forgiveness, Hyacinth, but if you wish it, I do." the girl said after a moment, hugging her friend again. "And I hope he can too." "He was never very good at that - better at taking care of others." she teased, "But I am glad he's getting better." In Progress
